I need help on why P5R (The Vanilla Version of P5R without any mods from Reloaded II and more) crashes immediately during the loading screen and I'm not really sure about on what is causing this since all the game files are installed correctly

try verifying game files or uninstalling/reinstalling

#

if unmodded does it then those are really the only options

tired pivot

Alright I'll try

#

since I've been trying those for many times yet it won't work but thank you for the advice (I'll give an update later whether or not it works or its still crashing)

#

Verifying game files are still all the same and keeps saying its alright, I'll try to keep uninstalling/reinstalling for a lot of times like 10 times and I'll give an update whether or not it fixes the crashing

Did you install any non releoaded mods at any point? Probably zmenu if anything

tired pivot

Nope

Alright, I thinik I've seen that happen once or twice.

Good to know thank you as well even though I never installed any non reloaded mods, however im still reinstalling it rn and it takes a while to reinstall

Well if it still fails could you check in %APPDATA%\SEGA\P5R\Steam\xxxxxxx\db\reports and see if there are crash dump files (.dmp extension) created when you launch the game. If there are send one and I'll see if it tells me anything useful.

Alright got it, I'll just wait for the reinstall before that , thanks

tired pivot

Still crashing

#

I'll check in on what you told me

#

Yeah I found a dmp file just one though with a 2,753 KB

tired pivot
#

I still keep getting crashes

Just update and ping me if you find anything useful and I'll respond if I'm not asleep or busy with personal life and such

#

k, I'm having a look now. I'll let you know what I can work out if anything

tired pivot
#

I don't even know which app to use to access those dmp files

midnight patrol
#

It's all good

#

Seems it's a gpu issue. Not something I've dealt with before and obviously not related to modding stuff so you should probably just look up and do the general troubleshooting stuff for this kind of error.
Updating graphics card drivers, uninstalling them and reinstalling, that sort of stuff

#

If you just search up nvwgf2umx.dll online there's a bunch of stuff, hopefully something that someone else has tried applies to you

tired pivot
#

Alright thank you!

Should I just put the post as solved? Even though I haven't solved it yet, and I'm trying to do what you told me rn

You can leave it ig, up to you. If you do work out a solution you could share it here then mark as solved. If you don't want to then we can close it now.
Idk if you'll actually get any more help in here since it's not a mod problem

tired pivot
#

Alright good to know, I'll leave it as not solved for now and make it solved when I actually solve it, and share on how I solve it

#

and the graphic card drivers is definetly related to NVIDIA for me

tired pivot
#

I solved it

#

Here is how i did it (I did it by uninstalling and reinstalling once)

#
  1. Search Device Manager
  2. Click on Display Adapters
  3. Click on the Graphics Card Driver
  4. Uninstall the Device and click/tick the box of deleting the driver software for this device
  5. Search for Windows Update
  6. Click on Check for Updates
  7. It will install the Driver Software
  8. If it fails downloading, Click on Check for Updates and it will download it again
  9. If It downloads successfully, you will finally be able to play P5R without any crashes yippeee!!!KechiEvil

Do Note: my GCD is NVIDIA, do these steps as a last resort if no other solution works

I used Visual Studio to open it although there are other options, I haven't really used anything else though (I just know that they do exist). It's probably overkill if you just want to inspect crashdumps

#

If you just search you'll probably find other programs that work as well

#

Just tried and yeah, WinDbg seems just fine.
