Mod what exactly? Models, text, audio...?
spam
Models might be too complicated to start i think, audio might be too, so text? like i just want to make my own costume balance mods but i have the computer literacy of a 70 yo with lead poisoning
and I'm also interested in like taking part of community proyects but my team skills are limited to emotional support which might end in a critical fail more often than not
i know i can be confused with a bot pretty often but i can prove i'm human by my inherent ability of not knowing how to follow basic instructions, can a bot do that?
so am i assuming like a basic mod like changing affinity, skills, status
that one?:?
What is a "costume balance mod"?
The best way to start is to just have something specific you want to achieve in mind, then work backwards from that:
Here's some general tips:
-
Have an idea you're passionate about making. Modding can be tedious and frustrating, but also really fun and rewarding when a project comes together. Most often it's passion that gets you over the finish line.
-
If possible, find something similar to what you want to make that already exists on GameBanana. Unpack it, look at how it's constructed and look up the various file types on Amicitia Wiki to see exactly what they are/do and the tools required to open them up and edit them. If it's a code mod, check out its repo on GitHub.
-
Unpack your own game files and spend some time looking around. For similar reasons to point 2, this'll also give you a good idea of how and where the game fetches files, how they're organised etc for reference.
-
If modding one of the PC games, enable file access logging in Reloaded II and the console window so you can see what files are being accessed in real time. Very helpful for when you're trying to track down the right file you need to edit.
-
Experiment! Read/search for keywords here related to the files or actions you're trying to perform. If you get stuck, reach out in one of the help channels or on the shrinefox forum.
-
Ask lots of questions, but don't expect anyone to handhold you. People are happy to help and give pointers if you can show that you've really tried your best, but nobody is going to walk you through everything step by step, nor should they be expected to.

that's too basic but if i have to start with that, i will, i hope i can make more complicated things in the future tho
since modding can cover lots of subject, what do you wish to do or whats the most passion you want to mod?
game design, i was a game design student but i had to retire fairly quickly, but i still hold that passion to craft systems and come out with new interesting mechanics and work with people who share the same taste (never got to the last part, everyone in tech was a dude, idk how to fit in with them T.T)
yeah exactly! you are making a difficulty mod right? i guess you also like those things
yup
So you want to learn how to edit AI, make a custom enemy, set up an random trigger
random encount
etc
good news is those are covered
if you had said about rigging and model i would have given up
that is my weakness in modding subject
oh yeah i know my limits
i might have study game design but i never got far, so all i know is theory, no programming, no 3d modelling, just story boards and video game history
so i know, and i've been told that is always better to start with something simple, people tend to be too ambicious
No problem. This might sound promoting and hopefully it's not. But my server has tutorial and guides. It's perfect for starter like you. Guarantee you won't need to ask questions. Start from there and let me know your mod creation
oh thank you! i guarantee you i will need to ask because i am just not the brightest so i kinda get confused and entangle more than i should lol
