#Persona 3 Reload | Master Quest

but magic skills 🔥
yes
ik erebus changes affinity and shit to null stuff
you stall with bitch baby magic chip damage to charge theurgy
then then the ball shows up you spam them all and it takes increased damage
but theurgia has the funny pierce to make it mostly irrelevant since you're spending several turns setting up anyways
why not like spam debilitate and mahatarukaja
yea but duration stack is nice
aigis charges the same no matter what skill is used too right
yes but you want to take it slower on purpose to charge
unless you crit which gives more
doesn't really matter what you do i guess as long as you're fully charged when dark embrace starts
Is it too early to comment if anyone’s moveset in Episode Aigis will be different in Master Quest? Other than making Akihiko learn auto tarukaja and single target boost
Does anyone know if weapon's "critical rate up" passive applies only to weapon attack or to all skills? Also what are the values for it
weapon only
Weapon only and 5%/10%/15%
Sadge
Oh
Although, if it also stacks with all passives and stuff, then basic attacks have highest crit
so i have basically no reason to use that one kitchen knife weapon from Tartarus
in the mod? sure but it'd be negligible at best
thank god it's ugly as fuck
True for uglyness lmao
kitchen knife was op in p4 but now its mid
Well, basic attack's crit chance seems to be 3%. So with kitchen knife it's 18%
Even if you were using a skill with 10% base crit and apt pupil, basic attack would still have higher crit
its not additive iirc, the crit rate would just be 15%
Of course using basic attacks is cringe
Oh? Is it than doubled by apt pupil and stuff? Or does it just set it to 15% flat?
technically the highest crit would just be using an aoe because you have a chance to crit multiple things (!!!)
i'd assume its doubled by apt pupil since all phys is
Well, yeah
Technically if you're using the 5% and 10% ones, you have better chances getting higher crit by using crit rate amp
For 15%, you get either or
Or both
Shouldn't it stack with crit rate boost and amp?
apt pupil is earlier than crit rate boost and amp though tbf
Yeah it could except boost and amp don't stack
level fucking 13
Don't they?.. iirc they do
crit rate boost and amp for some reason don't stack
ig cus additives? but also rebellion and revolution stack and those are additive
so idk why they don't but like ig its a good thing
The mechanism is apparently the game looks if amp is active
That's the first thing it looks for
Not boost
If it's there, yay, moving on
If not and boost there, use that
Yeah so it basically can't see boost's there since it already saw amp
And the only way to know that is…by looking through the vanilla game’s code or through useful descriptions. Vanilla text doesn’t mention this
If you could tweak the makarakarn ai a little bit
I basically made akihiko and mitsuru spam megidolaon every turn because I put a reflect on aigis
Akihiko made it kinda harder but mitsuru was easier for it
Since she wasnt concentrating or doing anything else
Oh im responding to old stuff
mq doesnt support episode aigis yet
but i'll get around to it
does master quest still work with Episode The Journey?
obviously does not work with Episode Aigis but yeah
it should but im not entirely sure if it's 100% stable
Episode The Journey
So weird that that's the name but i guess they really wanted the Episode part lol
Personally still prefer just The Journey and The Answer but it's just a name it ain't that big of a deal
was it actually called episode yourself originally
Nah
yes
What
Yes, the journey is called episode yourself in japanese fes
that's awesome
I mean episode aegis is the original Japanese name, not the answer
do crit boost and amp stack? im pretty sure that's how it worked but im now seeing stuff for p3r that says they dont
and of course they don't bother noting that lol
they literally have does not stack disclaimers on other skills
unrelated but do any of you guys use soul shift or the other shift sp recovery passives? even in vanilla i never really used them, it's just barely any recovery even early game for an entire skill slot that could be literally anything else
at least the damage boosters are a tiny bit less niche, but even then i rarely keep them
never worth it unless there's nothing better to equip
the damage boosters are good
the sp recovery ones are like, 5-8sp per shift
which is not really noteworthy at all especially when you're not using magic much to begin with
damage boosters are meta but they were talking about the sp ones specifically
like if you're running out of sp genuinely that's on you
just have invigorate 1 on your auto persona and you're fine lol
or just have a fully sustainable set of builds in the first place
Nah. We just ball
Do instakill moves always fail on minibosses?
Yeah
You can instakill them
A lot of bosses null light and dark though
But you can get some of em early game
I mean, I'm here spamming mahamaon with hama boost against guardian with neutral light resistance, and nothing
It evaded like 10 casts so far lol
It doesn't, it's neutral, i.e. no resistance or weakness
Usually it's better to use IKs when the enemy is actually weak to Light or Dark
I mean yeah obviously
Otherwise it's hard to predict
Even boosted
IKs aren't particularly meant to be 100% reliable
But the question is whether they're straight up actually immune
Does the skill that makes enemies vulnerable to ailments affect IKs
I suspect they have to be immune, or else it's incredibly unlikely to the point where it's a waste of time and sp to try. Because missing 10 mahamaons with hama boost against regular affinity is kinda unlikely
I could easily see it be the latter but that would be odd design
Enemies being immune but the game not telling you
I mean
At that point why not just make everybody null lol
The game not telling you how things work is the default
Yeah it's an issue in both
But i suspect it's not that big of an issue because going for IKs is hardly a reliable boss killing strategy lmao
Well why not lol. Several casts of hamaon with hama boost is almost always enough to IK an enemy with neutral affinity. You even have good chance of getting it first try
Sure balance wise it would be stupid but it's not explicitly said you can't do that
It just "misses"
Because if you could IK bosses then it would be the best strategy lol
Depends because you'd have to have the luck to roll with that and you'd need to get access to the IK boosters
Getting one passive isn't that hard
Yeah but the time it shows up plays into it
Being unable to get Deathbound or Blade of Fury at the start is not just luck lol
only things with weakness can be instakilled generally
they don't convey instakill vulnerability at all but if you see something weak to light/dark, always just try to hama or mudo instead of wasting time with kouha/eiha shit
Yeah, I think I actually IKed one early guardian boss, and they were weak to dark, so there's that
pretty sure almost all enemies weak to light/dark can be instakilled
there's one in harabah that can be instakilled before it gets a turn lol
Uhh. Does sylphid aura effect not end if you lose the fight and then restart it? Or is there some other funny bug where it doesn't end after a fight?
why would it end
restarting a fight loads the quicksave the game makes when you start
I mean after the fight
I.e. it was still active after I finished a guardian and moved a floor
Not saying it is, just wondering
You sure you just didn't have an auto persona or something
No, because I clicked fuuka to activate it again (it was a series of guardian fights) and she said it's already active, and it was
Maybe? Idk
Does foul breath makes instant kill more likely in p3r?..
As well as accuracy/evasion buffs
accuracy/evasion buffs no, foul breath maybe
Just checking what skills terminal table has
And it has foul breath and masukunda, but it's only attack moves are hamaon and mahama
instakills and ailment skills all have 100% accuracy
so they bypass checks like sukukaja, sukunda or ali dance
i think this is honestly just a p3r boss design moment
Instakills are luck rolls also
So I believe that BLOCKNeutral elemental affinity means that it takes normal damage but ailments can't be inflicted.
This is for example just a strong enemy (not even a guardian) that I also failed to instakill within 5 turns, despite the "neutral" light affinity.
(the resist isn't really a number but a small struct with bitfields, the p5r version looks like that. the "ailment immune" here also makes immune to instant kills for bless/curse)
yes thats how blockneutral works
instakill is an ailment so blockneutral will block IKs
blockneutral is also how enemies null freeze and shock
Yeah. Of course in the case of instant kills the game doesn't communicate the immunity in any way
that's why i never try ik unless there's a weakness
and if it misses i stop trying
ailments miss = keep trying
Sure, but it's still annoying. Ideally should be fixed in the code
I don't do p3r modding though, so oh well
What level the reaper is doable at? With level scaling removed and all
probably 70s with good strat, doors should know
Mid 70s or whatever level after beating the Adamah guardians

@dreamy orchid
32 skills is the hard limit for anyone btw
idk about multi target boost
it seems kinda random in here
Maybe
Although it encourages using AoEs more than singles
Bad for SP although that shouldn't matter
Her heals are cheap
yeah but a bunch of her kit is single target
poison arrow wouldnt benefit from this
though that might be good

since she's not phys oriented
poison boost seems a little too early, not in that it'd be op but that it just looks a bit weird having her get the spell then the booster the next level after, but aside from that it seems pretty fine
i know
thing is
moving shit around any more makes other skills feel mistimed a bit
about that
i think bosses will be a little bit more vicious with weakness seek
so wall would be good
its also one more skill in the rotation of support that you have to keep looping
so some people might choose to just not use it
(single target)
you know jet gonna spam it though
spamming tarukaja on yukari and sukukaja on aki 🔥
nah nah
aki spam sukukaja on ken for arrow rain extra damage
high iq door 1 strats for episode aigis tbh

poison kind of an interesting choice for yukari but it does have a precadent from the base game
its funny though that in base game she gets poison mist at around the same level koro gets virus breath despite the latter being a direct upgrade to the former
xdd
not too sure how to handle poison
20% max hp with 9999 cap is simply ridiculous
any poisonable enemy is a free stall win
are you gonna have yukari learn healing earlier than ken again
they're currently matched, but im not sure what will happen yet
ken being later fits more given he is jack of all trades
while yukari is very healing focused
especially since she's the one with ailment cure
ken having too much variety makes it too much of a nobrainer
also fits considering nemesis' lore
him starting with mediarama is really silly tbh
in p3r he starts with it
in p3p he gets it after one level
in fes he doesn't get it til kala-nemi
at level 51 lmao
actually kala-nemi does have its own table
but i dont want to change it
because i think it will break the fuck out
might cause skills to get skipped
i think keeping them synced makes sense but i do think you could make ken mediarama at a level that's realistically impossible before 10/4
obviously he should still have like diarama at least though
idk man
might further aggravate him going from useless to top tier after shinji dies
i think getting reason to use characters after their persona awakenings is nice tbh
plus just like
i think him becoming more healing focused after 10/4 just works well thematically
narrative-relevant change tbh tbh
same with akihiko becoming cracked after caeser
yes but then you get "speedrunners" trying to be "optimal" and instabenching people if they're not immediately useful
Ken hard carried the Ken/Akihiko fight
He almost killed Aigis
Only 6 HP left
Lmaoooo
i don't think anyone would seriously bench someone in mq unless the character is just like actively bad
which is something that can be reworked
ken having later healing gives more reason to take yukari over him
which she really needs
well yes
just feels like flipping the problem though
then ken loses a reason to be used with nemesis
i mean
he literally starts with kougaon
at 37
just make nemesis more offense focused tbh
he also has karns too
yeah ive taken a break to play episode aigis but when i was doing my MQ playthrough everyone felt pretty useable at any given moment, and i just rotated out based on boss weaknesses and/or sp pool
I just rotate based on who's LL
i didn't really use yukari at all in mq because she wasn't actually changed from base game
like, i leveled her up but she didn't really get used in many bosses
no items helps her be more valuable at least
i did bring her for justice/chariot and strength/fortune
but that's about it
i think ken is a much stronger character as far as the base kits go
yeah i have probably gotten more out of her as a dungeon party member and ken with boss fights
once i got ken's characteristic i basically stopped bringing yukari entirely
i dont necessarily think that's a bad thing tho, they're both still valid for the other role
i think her big struggle is level gap shit rn though
if her level gaps were better she'd be much more competitive
yeah that's fair, doesn't help that he also just kinda has better element typing too, dark isn't exactly rare but it's a lot better of a weakspot to have compared to one of the main four
i wouldn't say that's necessarily true but i also basically never pick my party based on affinity unless i'm actively struggling with a fight
the thing about that is i have an uncanny knack for choosing the worst possible lineup whenever i do a fight for the first time and just eat shit immediately lmao, like unless they've got a super memorable element gimmick like hermit i somehow always manage to bring the party that will be getting downed constantly and have to reload and restructure
Yukari: Reworked ✅
Junpei: Fine kit, add Baisudis ✅
Akihiko: Current MQ kit is fine, might need nerf, swap the kajas ✅
Mitsuru: Needs buff ❎
Aigis: idk
Koromaru: Needs buff ❎
Ken: Needs something that stands out that doesn't outshine Yukari ❎
Shinjiro: Temporary, supposed to be op, no changes ✅
Metis: Needs nerf ❎
and adjust levels of shit so they're not late as fuck ig
yeah a lot of stuff is way too late in episode aigis
its weird they changed party member levels since aigis gets shit at the same level as male protag
aigis gets shit 2 levels earlier on average actually
Although the grind for some is mitigated with growths
Wish that was in fes
That was a no brainer
yeah the growths is good
that's one thing i liked
i honestly expected them to just give growth skill card instead
but making it innate on personas is nice
was good for fusion too
you could argue it makes it a bit too easy to level stuff up but honestly sometimes less tedium is a good thing
they make up for the base game not being grindy by having the grindiest post-game in the series
@dreamy orchid tbf is there a logical reason for episode aigis having different levels for shit
since the xp is all the same
yeah its just you'd expect it to apply to aigis as well
(i want to avoid making 24 skillsets)
wdym
all of her personas are the same level
despite the new xp curve
so she gets shit way earlier than the party
not even close lol
i finished both at nearly same lvl tho
no i meant
aigis' personas and their skills are at the same level as journey protag's
often times earlier even
despite aigis getting more xp
she gets them 2 levels earlier on average
more xp?

i didnt notice that at all tbh
well i assumed that's why they did it for party
the dlc is comparatively a lot shorter so you feel like you're leveling up faster
so anyway what you're saying is i will in fact have to make 24 skillsets
but the new levels make progress feel at a similar rate
except for aigis who gets op shit really early
not really
you could basically port the journey ones with minor changes after testing
ig i can try
episode aigis is a lot easier to fine tune due to being shorter
truuuuuuuu

there were some intentional time losses for the funny
so the run could be optimised
go for a wr
it was a fun experience at the very least
i unfortunately had big time losses from having to eat and sleep
god idk how anyone would have the patience to speedrun stuff that long, more power to you but i cannot even imagine the tilt of having something go wrong 10 hours into a run or some shit
she did it out of pure hate for the game dw
lmao
The ironic urge to play a game you hate for 81 hours
15*
Paid with your hard earned money
Top quality quadruple A game
Oh wait, this ain’t Ubisoft. Nvm
Thought she didn't get the pass
nothing went wrong because the routing was optimal 🔥
she bought it when it was announced
she also pre-ordered the most expensive version of the game
self inflicted tbh
But still even then considering how much she dislikes it i wouldn't expect her to still want to play it
i mean
she was actively excited for the game pre-release
i think her disappointment is very genuine lol
she was actively doomposting from the very first trailer lol
making shit up about damage formula
i mean, she was right about weapons being halved lol
but completely wrong about them being multihit
But i probably just don't understand the inner funny of putting yourself through a game you dislike
i don't think she said they were real multihit
she doomed about it
she added the damage together and realised it was weaker than base skills
by a lot
that's what was doomposted about lol
wanting to have a more genuine opinion on the game and dlc especially due to it being hyped up by others
i also don't really like the game much but i have played (most of) the dlc by now
partly to see how much they changed and also to be able to give a proper opinion
because its not 100% fair to comment on something you haven't played
i could do better stuff but she wanted to hang out and we decided to play it together
Thought you played Reload through Game Pass
Overall I'm still on group
You can pick whatever version to play and it'll be fine
Although ig you had moved to Steam at one point
i had a gamepass free trial i redeemed on release day to get the game a day early
i always had the steam version bought i just didn't want to be left out while everyone else was experiencing and spoiling the game a day earlier than me lol
The night fell for MeovvCat
so i was disappointed af
It took 12 hours after 12 AM to open
Play for 10 hours
Get robbed of my wallet when buying food after
Be sad af
idk who we're talking about but that's a big bummer that she didn't enjoy reload. i love this game sm and it honestly saved my distate of FES left over from both having issues with how the story is conveyed (as well as some minor stuff with not being a fan of the actual plot elements themselves) as well as ragequitting from the mechanics pissing me off so much (once again whoever invented random skill inheritence deserves immediate summary execution by firing squad), but i definitely see how people don't like reload over FES, both for mechanical and story reasons. i still have things i prefer about the original's narrative and especially visual presentation, and it's way too easy to break the difficulty curve but overall i think it's probably my favorite persona game and lived up to the original
we're talking about yuki
Unfortunate timing
Did you get your wallet back
idk who that is lol, im not really active in the persona community online besides this specific mod and Crystahhl (though not really as much with the latter recently outside of her dance stuff)
i'm sad she didn't like it because it became her defining personality trait for 7 months
Yuki's known for the Useful Description mods for the games i think
ah ok
Wtf why did it do it twice
it's shio's mod now 😔
don't remind me that i still need to update it
i gotta make it compatible with episode aegis
honestly my hot take is that the movies are the best verison of p3 lmao, if they had managed to somehow fit in the social links it would be completely perfect
she made the p3f/p3p/p3r versions initially though, i just upkept the p3r one because she didn't want to work on it anymore
still her mod since she did the initial work behind it
Idk i think the way they power through everything kinda screwed with the pacing
still easily the best version of the ken and shinjiro plotline too outside of the extra ken stuff reload added, having him not realize that Shinji killed his mom and idolizing him instead of Aki, then finding out right before october 4th is so much more heartbreaking
Also not sure how to feel about some of the story changes but it was great presentation wise
And the OST kicks ass so it's got that going for itself too
as the resident amadahead i don't really agree
i like how their dynamic is presented in the game a lot and i think him knowing ahead of time adds a lot to it
Honestly I was mostly playing a bit with disagreeing on magic stuffs, I genuinely agree on a lot of points she have but I'm just happy that I get to experience P3 fresh again
I can only play PS2/PSP for long
I mean it's not really changed that much between game and movie, Ken just gets to know and like Shinji before he finds out about the fact he was the reason his mom's dead
i think that's fair
yuki is absolutely right on everything, it's just annoying to see it repeated over and over, poisoned with irony to boot
Having Ken start liking Shinji to then be instantly heartbroken from discovering he's his mom's killer hits a lot better if you ask me
In the games it felt weirdly unceremonious despite it being a big thing for Ken's character
yeah the game version isn't bad, i just think it kinda feels a bit ridiculous that he's plotting to kill shinji the minute they meet and none of the people involved at least realizing that maybe having them in such close proximity isn't healthy for the kid and is a bad idea even if he doesn't want to commit murder
i think Ken's whole plan makes a lot more sense with him knowing Shinjiro's the one who did the deed ahead of time
like ikutski has the excuse of being an asshole regardless but why the hell did mitsuru and akihiko not at least pick up that something was wrong
And I think Ken having to hide his visceral hatred for Shinjiro while the latter has to hide his regret for it is a really strong dynamic
I have my own gripes with reload, especially that theurgia bullshit for the answer but no one really cares that much but me about it
they were literally there and know what he's going through so twisting the knife like that just feels irresponsible in an OOC way for them
Why does Ken actually even join SEES in the movies
for fun
Since in the games he joins SEES because he knows Shinjiro is the one who did it and wants to kill him lol
iirc just because he awakened and they need the manpower, and ikutski is being shady
That is so much worse than in the game lol
Isn't that the same reason he ends up joining in the game anyway?
I don't think I'd be a fan of the movies much compared to the games if I watched them
yeah that's the downside of him not being motivated by revenge, but it does serve to characterize just how desperate SEES is and just how fucked the kirijo group and ikutski are
At least I don't remember seeing the explicit reason being shown just him suddenly asking to join since he did have the potential
The movies are fine but I don't think it tells the story perfectly
They know he has the potential far before he joins, he only becomes an official member of SEES after eavesdropping on Aki and Shinji and learning Shinjiro's the one who killed his mother
Except the final boss fight I guess
the movies are pretty good if you approach it as an alternate
May as well just read the manga
Yeah^
i won't lie, i don't like having protag solo nyx
The movies are movies so I'd say that contributes to the problem a bit
i guess it makes the dynamic between the protag and ryoji better though
in context it's good
yeah that is kinda lame, probably my least favorite change, but it's executed pretty well imo
They have to condense all of the game into that so they have to change some stuff in the process
he's soloing nyx because the whole team is doing everything everywhere at once
Nah I was thinking the music and vibe
Being with members if you do it in game but with that music
Shit goes hard
yeah glad they went with an anime for p4 because a long form medium fits the series a lot better for adapting it out of a video game
don’t read the last part of it tho
shame the p5 anime had a budget of five cents lmao, did they even finish adapting it or did it get cut short
lol you can get vorpal blade before brave blade
funny game
junpei gets it 18 levels late technically
Gotta say i kinda benched Junpei so far
are you mad
I only started using him after i got to the Cocytus boss
ah answer
I could be
in mq or episode aigis? junpei has kinda been my goat damage dealer in EA
EP Aigis yeah
In MQ I'd have him around a lot of the time
in episode aigis he's like top 3, you just gotta get past having vacuum slash
yeah i just kinda used metis or aigis for aoe phys until he got blade of fury lmao, stuck to single target with him until then
yeah he slogs until blade of fury
i benched him for koromaru until the clock
funny revolution bot
Ended up using Akihiko more than Junpei in the Answer due to him being a little late on levels compared to my main party
aki????
Trust the plan
i think the gap is mostly indicative of protag getting shit way too early more than him getting it late tbh
actual insane person
aki is stuck with jionga for half the game bro
look i can fix the party, but fixing 150 personas is mental asylum material
Speaking of i have to take Ken out for leveling him, that's gonna take a bit
oh yeah are the odds of getting fusion accidents and/or skill mutation boosted to full moon levels in EA or are you just stuck with the lower odds because im trying to get magic mastery for heartless jonker and its making me want to fucking scream
weak willed 😈
you do it.
i'm working on it
😈
but yeah i get not wanting to touch that shit
i think mainly just some outliers should be corrected
like no more blade of fury matador and shit
would help if reload just had more skills to fill in the gaps
like where is kill rush? double fangs? twin shot?
I did Blade of Fury Ose
i think only things that maybe need an extra thing are like
Andalucia (Matador)438
Deals weak Slash damage to all foes (1-3 hits). Decreases target's Accuracy/Evasion for 3 turns.
you're not gonna like this one

Blade of Fury Yakshimi
that's less good/broken than blade of fury
wait this is masukunda
i can't english
yea
i'll have to remove it from goemon too, and he'll be poopoo dogshit
in episode aigis i used power arrow rain, then shifted to yakshini blade of fury/deathbound the entire game until siegfried and bishamonten
good tbh
dlc headass
i think if you've got some slots left though
consider just adding one or two skills to affinities that need em
I don't have her yet but i was using her a lot in my Journey MQ run
like kill rush for strike between assault dive and gigan fist would help a lot
i have a few i can squeeze out but look i already added like 80 skills
Blade of Fury's Blade of Fury
wait how far are you into answer
by saying "you've been using aki more than junpei" did you mean you brought aki into door 2 but not junpei
because it sounds like that's what you meant
i cant really remember if i had this problem in base game but in my EA playthrough i kinda felt like i wasnt really wanting to fuse a ton of the time because all of my options were either not what i needed or objectively worse than my current lineup. idk how youd fix that or if its just a skill issue on my part but a lot of skillsets just kinda seemed bad or worse than the other alternatives
Uh I just finished Cocytus so far
i don't do names gimme the number
all the areas look the same so we can't even use descriptors
That is the second dungeon
I KNEW IT
cock door
So in episode aigis, do you have to redo everything from the ground up or can you transfer a lot of stuff that you already changed? (such as changed item effects, skills, mechanics, enemy ai, etc)
they recycle the same 4/5 areas the entire game
they reuse the dungeons on every door
the only unique one is empyrean
That was my favorite in FES
What
Aesthetics wise
i forget if p3f answer did this i swear i was tripping out
Unless you're talking about FES
because i didn't know if this was something from fes or something they changed to fuck with me
Some stuff can be "copied", but it's effectively having to be done from scratch anyway so I might as well just redo the whole thing
In FES some areas did feel pretty samey
its been a long while since i played le answer
With the chrome beetles or what fuck shit
like you go back to the blue one then back to the purple one then back to the dorm one
Damn
I can tell which one
What are you confused about
did they reuse the floor designs in multiple doors in fes
i forget if they did that
yea
i swear they didn't but i feel like my brain is gaslighting me
them switching battle hymn of the soul and BMD last battle was really funny though
i cannot remember
But yeah i basically haven't used Junpei in Dungeon 2, just started now on the third one
bro you got access to junpei, koromaru, ken and metis and you're like "hmm yes, i'll bring akihiko"
Got his personality too so he can say the line
fraud playthrough
ken is better at elec than akihiko bruh 😭
yukari Mitsuru and Akihiko 😎
its op, they cover all debuffs
challenge run
jet ass response
They reused floor layouts of the blocks so they have the same layout as tartarus ones
But this one, they're unique
Distinct from the reload tartarus blocks
I mean my main party was Yukari, Metis, Aki or Yukari, Metis, Ken for the first floors
yeah p3r answer is fully unique
heartless joker was designed to counter that op party comp by making him NUKE you for having all three debuffs on him
no what i mean is
Gone back to Ken after the Cocytus boss too speaking of since he was kinda underleveled
does the dorm-looking design appear multiple times
they should've kept him crittable, but make crits a rule break
for example
i forget if that happened or not
i feel like i'm in a state of psychosis
nameless
like does the arqa reskin one only appear in door 2 or does it keep showing up
piik
i don't remember i don't know my past anymore
Ah, okay. Hope it goes well! Take your time.
isn't Arqa reskin the first dungeon
I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER
NOT IN THE KIWAMI VERSION BUT NOW YOU'RE MAKING ME DOUBT MYSELF EVEN MORE
fes has a yabbashah reskin
i gotta just play it again bruh
i'm sick of this i'm being tricked i'm having games played on me
I think the Arqa looking place is first dungeon in both versions lol
using theurgia should be a rule break
you end it with one anyway
Yeah a lot
so you need to go through 32k health with no theurgias and no crits while he constantly resists or nulls most affinities
Jonkler is funny
Demi-Fiend with no reflect
joker is like demifiend if demifiend required you to grind for 30 hours
Is there a proper guide to Joker? I don't care about what moves he does, I only care about his "rule breaks" lol
By the way, i think i might've read some messages around the server wrong but is Joker like a story fight or something lol
i fully expected him to at least have rotating weaknesses
but no
cant have fun in persona
that would be too op
no
you can fight him after beating le reaper
he's not a story fight but elizabeth contextualizes his presence in canon i think
(reaper and the jongler)
Nah no vulnerabilities either
rotates to fire weakness, junpei nukes in one turn with blaze of life
He's not even hard tbh he's just goofy as fuck
he feels super wrong because his summon anim is slower and doesn't have evoker sound
feels like a mod
legit
Surprised they haven't done different weaknesses for Joker since P3 Protag fight in 5 has it and Emperor Empress is still a fight
Joker: I rotated to strike weakness
Aigis shifting to Metis moment
he's not hard he just requires you to grind 99 endurance, messiah armour, endure and enduring soul equips for all party members used along with the weapons with best passive effects
that's not difficulty, it's atlus trying to make it look hard to casuals
"joker canonically solos sees now btw" shut the fuck up fraud
its obnoxious af cus you can't even buy gems with money anymore
you just gotta loop monad doors constantly to try and get incenses bruh
xit engin
Did they forget PQ2?
Isn't he the weakest out of the bunch?
i'd kick his ass but i don't wanna grind bruh
i wanna kick his ass too
he's the best tank there
I'm also personally not a fan of arbitrary rule breaks like what they do in P3 superbosses
Like between protags he's weakest
akechi the strongest protag fr
Not wildcards though because Akechi exists but he has a really strong bind skill
they made joker persona 5 a sponge with a bunch of rules specically to spite p3 fans who want to kick his ass
oh if you thought reload elizabeth had an asinine ruleset, joker's will make you want to shoot yourself
great design
joker's rules are also hardcoded
Reload Liz is just OG Liz but her rotations changes and has phases now
good luck
I tried playing the Joker boss blind for the first time on Heartless, I buffed my teammates and used my end game gear
He did not like that so he did Sinful shell 1st turn
untrue
high counter is a rule violation now
idk like it's just lame to have all these rules so you can't even go in blind
they literally disabled critting on the fight you just can't do it
the code skips it
Technically you can repel but she just blocks and then megidolaon no question
I feel like the whole concept of a boss enforcing rules just makes fights become a tad boring to approach
Unlike before, just megidolaon
like it's hard I'm sure but it really doesn't seem well designed lol
Way less room to experiment if the rules are shit
liz's rules are at least somewhat easy to intuit, and so are half of lavenza's, meanwhile joker has no dialogue or even real tells for why tf he one shots you
it's not hard just grind everything and then play along
Margaret P3P still the goat
he kills you for fucking having all 3 kajas or kundas up
not a real battle imo
if fuuka heat risers your party he nukes you
no the ailment phase is not communicated at all lol
she just expects you to know and if you don't try to tech her she just instakills you
oh yeah also i started joker with auto-charge and it didn't count as a rule break for him? whats up with that
at least it's only one rule per phase
imo its not conveyed well in the slightest
but that's fair
Only in Heartless iirc
ah
i think crit phase is not really too asinine because her lu is low and crits are already consistent, but it does suck that it shoehorns phys party even more than normal
I feel like Joker boss fight was made in a rush, very choppy animation when he summons/uses them and no sound effects
i was in heartless but i loaded the regular battle
lavenza with magic members only literally relies on joker critting her lol
Oh that makes sense
Like it's a modded boss, lol
yeah because the game actually has 2 jokers
if you're in heartless it loads a different one
Jonkler shadow clone
Joker and True Joker
first difficulty-based boss in persona
really sucks that the rules are hard coded, would've loved to see them changed 😔
we know its not the real joker because the actual joker would've gotten one tapped by junpei
^
that part is pretty cool honestly
some stuff you can disable, but the no-crit shit you can't unless you force heartless to load the base version
which tbh
i love disabling integral gameplay mechanics!!
moment
i was gonna say i'd hijack one of the jokers
but elizabeth really is the only battle ID i can use for a custom battle
makes you kinda wonder what they're gonna do with P4 remake
probably p6 hero
I was thinking the overall gameplay but that works too
nah bro
I jumped a few steps in terms of my logic lol
When are they gonna get meta and make you fight yourself
are they really gonna keep the P4 element spread
p4 remake will have femc boss just to spite the p3p fans who wanted her in reload
Big stinky
p4 remake will have Joker fight, no Femc, always Joker in every game
why do you have 4 magic + 2 special magic and 1 physical
single phys, phys boosters still in the game and even more commonplace, drivers are now normal skills, still has more phys skills than p3r despite only one typing
that's my p4r expectation list
ailment phys skills 😎
physona
phys btfo'd by 48sp exclusive severe magic skills
nah kanji is a top-tier magic user
I hope they keep the funny mechanic of the golden hand if they do make a P4 remake
Start battle
Hand slaps the shit out of you for no reason
leaves
looking at how p3r handled fuuka, p4r rise will make p3r fuuka look mid
acts every single turn idk
fact: he gets tier 2 magic, boost and amp before yukiko does
oh
yeah so does yosuke iirc
kanji is so cool
i know what they'lll do
yukiko is the last party member to learn boost as a mitsuru reference
they'll make it work like p3r oracle, but one of the effects is Peerless Resolve
uh.... what's that lol
rise will automatically scan all enemies
At this point, the Yakuza series would be P6 at this point
but then in the joker persona 5 fight if she uses it you die instantly
and will still restore 10% sp after each battle
and its rng
she will give you a buff and debuff/ailment the enemies at the start of every single battle
joker's rulebreak instakill also accounts for endure btw
he gives himself 3 turns then does sinful shell three times
that's hilarious
ultimate support that will also include charge/concentrate and tetrakarn/makarakarn
futaba really said "max hp/sp heal + all kajas + all kundas"
joker p5 fight in p4r will have joker use sinful shell 5 times to account for endure, enduring soul, rise shield, rise protag revive
What's sad is that I really enjoyed the Velvet room previous protagonists fights and the Velvet room attendants fights
I just hate the Episode Aigis Joker fight
you forgot it also revives all party members and gives them revolution effect

ultimate support is funny
its funny how rng she can either do that or just give you like mediarama heal
oh and rise also gets a bunch of useless filler skills to make her look more well designed than fuuka p3r
like wow! we expanded on the skills that fuuka had in p3r!
did anyone ever use those tartarus skills in p3r
like the fucking distress thing lmao
i always forget sylphid aura exists but looking at it its actually quite cracked
"TV World Search"
Spam it 10 times
Reach boss with 0 SP cost
Beat boss
leave
boosted xp from level diff
but the others are so dogshit lmao
peak
I only use the buff one and the tartarus search when greedy hand showed up
Nothing else
I also kinda hope they do something about the P4 hallways too
do you like how its still called tartarus search in the answer
fr lol
abyss of time search rename mod when
NO, lol
the treasure is named after tartarus blocks too
lmao
did they just forget
nah i think it was always like that
i love getting thebel lanterns in the new dlc!!
they made a whole ass new intro but couldn't rename the treasure? wild
inb4 its an atlus west thing
You guys can't
anyone wanna check that lol
The blocks are sliced between areas so harabah I and harabah I are different
But they have the same sellable items
mod that makes party members get their 2nd theurgias during actually story-relevant scenes and not filler when
also make it not rng lmao
what
i actually wonder what tf even triggers those
what
i kinda like it being rng
the order you get is seemingly random
tbh
Wait, it's RNG?
this really enhances the episode aigis speedrunning meta
after you beat a main door boss a random pair of party members will chat in private about their resolve and get their second theurgy together
i got junpei/mitsuru first, then fuuka/metis, then ken/yukari then aki/koromaru
hmmm I'm not really sure how to feel about that
i got metis/fuuka first, then ken/yukari, then aki/koromaru, then junpei/mitsuru
Which one's first for you
junpei/midsuru
Wait, even the party member pairing is RNG too?
no
the pairings arent
the pairing is the same
also INCREDIBLE how those scenes aren't even voiced
they did not care 🔥
did they really not voice them
none of the new scenes are voiced from what i saw
like, the dorm hangouts are unvoiced
same with those 2nd awakenings
I should play episode aigis at some point just so I can judge it more fairly
but this sounds kinda mid
it being rng is good imo
such a weird change to make them not voiced cus they're fully voiced in the base game
it being tied to story would be better but also worse
I got Mitsuru first, and Koromaru last. I don't remember the 2nd or 3rd of which one I got of the order
ken would come first
them being fully voiced was the best part about p3r
which is awful for balance
Fuuka/Metis
for gameplay? maybe, but for the narrative it'd 100% be better and make more sense
Lmao
they could've also just not buffed Ken
I would rather they have done the 2nd theurgy order based on story stuff
balance the party members accordingly (or try)
Also the gear is fucking funny, it's like "Hmm maybe we should give Ken invigorate 3 shoes with his 10 SP every turn buff"
that's a nerf
its so weird seeing ken's past and his initial reason for fighting, contrasting how much he's grown now, and then randomly right after junpei/mitsuru have an unvoiced conversation about how they're frauds now and suddenly junpei gets his chidori thingy again
that's not how it happens through
no
you need to leave the dungeon to trigger the scene
it's not immediately after
I was gonna say that sounds awful lol
how long is p3r the answer
yeah i do that after every door because you get items for characteristics after boss fights
26 hours
15 if you play like yuki and skip everything out of spite
15-30 hours depending on your pace, probably average about 20-25
100 if you're gonna do what I'm gonna do
I'm gonna just play normally lol
999 members all and perfect personas
technically the actual run was 18 hours but the save file says 15
idk if I'll do heartless
i think there was a break in between
I might but I need to think about it when I actually get the chance to play
Took me 30 hours to 100% everything on Heartless. Only reason why it took a while was because I neglected the Persona fusion spell missions and had bad RNG luck with Monad door boss loot, which added like an extra 2.5 hours
the game is already piss easy on heartless and you can change to lower if you krill issue so i see no reason not to
oh cool
piss easy is disingenuous
did you do jonkler in 30 hours bruh
heard that it was actually decently hard until like ???
i have struggled with it less than base game so far
??? is funny
You can funny rush without doing anything and you will win
I must say, they attempted to at least make it AFK resistant this time. But it's still possible.
??? has the special gimmick of being able to switch into the reverse versions of the cast's personas except Metis (Yay Persona 2 reference). In a solo setting, this means he can't switch out of Athena at all. This is easy to exploit in FES beforehan...
i actually died in base game and occasionally felt reason to use debuffs, have not had either happen yet in the answer
harder or easier than fes 🤔
you are an outlier, episode aigis is objectively tougher on the majority of the playerbase
To be fair, FES ver you can do this too
harder imo
oh wow
Yes
Too many tries because online guides wasn't accurate 100%
much easier than fes from what i recall but i don't think the fes version is that hard either
I could probably do heartless mode just fine I think it's a matter of, how much do I want to use my brain lol
It's the same for me assuming not very good at fusing
what was your setup for heartless joker? has the grind been overstated?
Although if you know how to make Deathbound build then you win
Or even better, Akashic Arts
keep in mind shio/yuki etc are absolute metagamers that make absolutely zero mistakes and always have the outright most optimal build at all times
almost everyone else I know got their shit kicked in on episode aigis
i just did blade of fury and then leveled up into deathbound
i didn't really metagame lol
just do not make mistakes
i haven't looked at fusion calc while playing
yeah I don't think I meta game super hard
i did it before release to see if anything changed, saw nothing really did besides getsu-ei replacement
well not before release but before i had the dlc
faz rushed the whole thing on peaceful and then skill issued to the sees duos for 3 consecutive hours
it was funny
one of my irl friends was slightly disappointed with the difficulty I think but idk how far he is so far
the hardest part of the dlc for me personally is trying to fuse what i want because fucking magatsu izanagi is tower and gets in the way when i want to fuse bishamonten
just disable it
I also tend to trust you guys a little more with this sort of stuff lol

yes
typically you can do that for any dlc
my precious outfits tho...
Ken almost the goat on this fight
they're all separate
but you cant disable now actually
because once you create a savefile it burns it in
why didn't he heal akihiko and karn them both, is he a dumb little child?
I mean, my setup was pretty much remove starting battle buff stats and just used the Enduring soul/half damage taken equipment.
I am not the best at builds at all
huh, firm stance is better than Ali dance here?
no i meant
what were your party members and how did you not have them die immediately
He almost killed me lmfao
don't you need 99 en to tank at all
Jonkler's hit rate almost hits perfect accuracy
Some of them do
oh
So yeah you can't dodge very well
all of his skills are 99% acc from what i saw
this boss seems very very well designed
look the dlc isn't the peak of balancing but it's also a challenge for the vast majority of people
moderate knowledge will get you really far (just stacking passives and shit) but i've seen people get absolutely filtered in the first 10 or so hours of the game, there's a few filter gatekeepers
i think if you accidentally fuse power you'll be fine
That one that killed me when I went in for the first time
especially since apparently that apt pupil card from chest is common af
that seems pretty reasonable honestly
justice is overrated
but I need to play first
i got apt pupil from my compendium like a chad but then got the card 15 mins later and was annoyed
I will not be playing for a bit lmao
100% base crit rate with theurgia damage is insane
Oh, like Sinful shell turn 1?
may buy on sale I don't wanna get it at full price lol
its like jack bros if the down were even more consistent, it did double damage by default, and had access to boosters
I didn't use Theurgia and I was more than fine
i've used it the entire game so far and one shot or nearly one shot most gatekeepers/monad guys i used it on
