#Persona 3 Reload | Master Quest
1 messages · Page 28 of 1
pierce is unique in that its always the worst in all regards lmao
well arrow rain and myriad arrows are pretty nice but anything that isn't a multihit for pierce is usually terrible
are the wall spells worth keeping on ken or are they too pricey for his already ravenous sp pool? ive gotten some niche usage from them but the item versions aren't too hard to get
he basically has infinite sp
splurging SP on ken is meta
get rid of them if you don't find them useful, but the sp cost isn't the problem really
yeah ik that's how he works, i just dont have his sp regen traits yet lol
though i do have the accessory that gives invig 2
ken basically has invig 4
i got rid of makarakarn because there's no way to make tactics use a specific one, and i wanted him to spam phys wall lol
oh yeah do regen/invig stack if you have multiple versions at different tiers? like does regen 2 and regen 3 conflict or do they both still work
yes
nice, i thought so since it doesnt say they dont stack
i still usually only keep one high tier version though because skill slots are precious haha
i miss when you had to sit through a long animation for regens/invigorates
wasting like 20 seconds because i spent 6 skill slots of regens
the camera rotating a bit for every passive too
oh was that a thing in the older games lol, i forgot it wasn't just instant in those too
junpei with both spring of life and regen 3 was really funny
only p3
p4 made them instant
p4 too
oh was it in vanilla
is it?
i could swear it is
its 100% not
yeah i played fes ages ago and gave up towards the end after one frustrating random inheritance fusion session too many so i do not remember a lot of it lmao
i had naoto with 3 invigorate passives and that like +15sp per turn accessory in hollow forest cus it was funny
and it was instant
fuck random inheritance btw whoever thought that was ever a good idea should be shot
its funny and i kinda get the vision behind it but it does kinda just end up being annoying
i do like that it makes getting perfect personas harder but it kinda comes at too much of a cost since people will naturally want to minmax
people acting elitist over 20 minutes of menu open/close
also some inheritance preferences are really dumb
thanatos 800% dark preference is so funny
his entire skill set is like mudo, mamudo, mudoon, mamudoon, die for me, mudo boost
i think that was exactly what i was malding over, trying to prep than for fusing a good messiah build and just getting useless low tier mudo skills over the shit i actually wanted
and yeah it made accessing perfect personas harder but not in any kind of fun or engaging way, just locking it behind jank obtuse rng that just elongates the process instead of making it actually harder
because you can still get those same broken builds, you just have to spend hours menuing to do it and hoping you dont accidentally get the setup you wanted and then cancel by mistake
I still open and close the menu to optimise stat level ups
I like inheritance bias conceptually at least
lmao same
just be glad you're not playing p4 ps2 instead
same, but these don't matter as much and are also way less rng
with fucking
yeah it's an interesting idea, but in practice it was just pointless and actively frustrating to the point it made me drop the game entirely
2400% preferences
god forbid you're playing an smt game with random inheritance, i cant even imagine how much worse that would be
only one ive done with that is raidou 1 and suboptimal skills there can at least be mitigated by playing well in the realtime combat stuff
Only non dark thing is 1h sword master
no i meant what he inherits lol
he actually learns no dark skills of his own
he does have mahamaon in fes and maragidyne in the answer tho lmao
Idk man
But the answer one's the most usable he is that's not dlc but even then he sucks
I think overall my biggest complaint with the mod is the increased crit damage for enemies. It should be, if anything, reduced, because that high crit damage can easily result in teammate dying out of nowhere. It's especially bad when it's part of boss mechanic though.
So for example, the Emperor and Empress bossfight.
Empress casts distress, hits Junpei. Emperor casts tempest slash, crits, hits 4 times. Then finishes Junpei with a basic attack. So he's knocked out right at the start of the fight. I don't see any mistakes here, nothing I could have done about that. Basically just losing because random decided so. This is an extreme example of course, but in general random high damage crits are bad imo.
Wait wot
The bonus damage from hitting weaknesses and criticals in Merciless has been increased for the enemy. Added to Hard as well.
you'd still die in vanilla
you have a billion defensive options here, you were either extremely unlucky, which is an edge case, or you are playing wrong somewhere
Extremely unlucky. Like I said, this is an extreme example. I just in general dislike the increase in crit damage for enemies, because like I said, random knockouts
the bonus damage is a negligible amount, especially in that boss
literally like 5 more damage
emperor cannot and will not oneshot you with tarunda and rakukaja applied, or proper equipment
My problem is more with P3R in itself and how enemies crit in it. With your mod specifically, I simply think that with crits already being a problem, increasing crit damage is pretty weird choice.
again, you are placeboing
the rate is reduced in this boss
they don't have boosts, and the skills they use are nerfed
very nerfed
compared to vanilla numbers
you just got combo'd by distress, it happens
I'm not disagreeing with that lol, I'm giving overall feedback on crits, that the increase in crit damage is and odd choice from my perspective
seems like an opinion fuelled by an unlucky loss
If it came out like I'm blaming the mod here, I'm not
No, it's mostly fueled by overall experience with merciless crits here and in p5r lmao. Boss just motivated me to complain
That being said you can debuff for that technically
MQ is nowhere near P5R's merciless
less than a third of the increase
i'm tempted to omit the changelog when 2.0 releases 😭 it's caused a ton of placebo feedback
not you specifically
Well, you've got my feedback. Crits are cringe, damage should be nerfed 😄
Also I hate that boss with a passion lmao
you're going to be critted a lot

like
a lot
just prepare yourself for it mentally
(it's not "rng bullshit death" if you know what you're doing)
which boss
(it always is, it's impossible not to make mistakes sometimes, and being hit by what shouldn't kill you but then does anyway is very annoying)
emperor/empress?
that was the easiest one in the mod for me
died in like 3 or 4 turns
it's a tutorial fight
I am
how lol
just had good personas 😈
Dying because you got caught off guard by a critical hit is a skill issue
It's not RNG, you are expected to be prepared for this eventuality, especially if the enemy waits for your entire party to act before doing something
they had to be real good considering it takes 2 turns for the boss to even become damagable lol
I'm not sure how this concept is controversial at all
oh well i mean discounting the start
you just use the first turn to set up buff/debuff
i think i did rakunda on empress
it is skill issue sure, but it's still the most annoying part for me
if it was up to me i'd just delete evasion entirely too
since it's "rng"
but this is persona
i'm not disabling a core mechanic of the game lol
it's only cool when you evade lmao
that mentality doesn't really fit a challenge playthrough
eh it works for me
okay my only feedback for empress/emperor is please make them do affinity shift on the first turn
Emperor Empress's can feel pretty tough as an early fight
nah it being on second is cracked
But there's a couple strats you can apply to it
means you can tarunda and rakunda both
Yeah
Using first turns for debuffs
And one of them has predictable weakness
Empress iirc
it's random still I believe
She cycles between Pierce and Slash iirc and will never repeat either
i mean like they said, you usually just spend the first turn or two buffing and debuffing anyways, if anything it's kind of a stealth tutorial to try and teach you that habit imo. i forget if that's how the fight works in vanilla but either way it's a nice subtle teaching moment
well yes
I believe empress first is either pierce or slash
you can also just scan with fuuka
scan the first time and then you know what it is the second time
Yeah which one is first is random
But
Once you know it
You can predict it
then they cycle, yeah
tbf you only have enough sp to scan with her twice each i believe, but yeah it's fairly easy to just guess without taking too much retaliation damage after you've given the fight a shot a few times
cracked
I do think i didn't run out in my better attempt of it
yeah it's definitely doable, it just wont happen if you scan every single time they shift
no point scanning empress
In my first successful attempt i conjured my god gamer and predicted weaknesses
unless my damage was just shit for that point in the game in my run lol
scan both after the initial shift then only scan emperor afterwards
yeah that's more or less what i did once i figured out all the possibilities, and i saved fuuka sp for towards the end when i really needed to not lose out on dps
sure but the problem for me here is that they also get a turn of distress + phys, and if both land it can fuck things up for you
you can block to prevent crits
They can but that's something she does if she knocks down
so you suggest to just block with everyone instead of casting debuffs?..
She also tries if you're up but I've had distress setups entirely skipped bc they didn't get crit lol
I mean sometimes you just get unlucky with the ailments
Debuff is mainly for the first turns
i mean if it's a big aoe attack then yes? i dont remember all the attacks that boss has but yeah sometimes i just had to spend a turn making sure i dont die before i can get going, especially in the early game
Almost
Here's how i tackled it for reference
https://youtu.be/nWv1tXu2Q5Y?si=Bem4QCVYju7xgLWH
A better attempt at the emperor empress fight because other opinions clearly indicated that i sucked ass the first time and i agreed.
Still not entirely satisfied but i'll take that for now
sure that's why I would like affinity shift on the first turn
i should record my own runs for 2.0
intended developer route
do any personas you can have at that point get patra, i forgor
Add a medal system to MQ based on time and if u do your time you get a dev medal
for sure
Leanan Sidhe?
i dont think i can
Or is that later
Angel I think?
i think some of the MC ones definitely do but i dont think any party members do tbf since yukari is unavailable
Mostly joshing but it would be cool .....
here's jet hacking away at it
This fight is cheap because there's a trap waiting for you at the start of the fight(that being they will both repel all elements until they changed their affinities for the first time) and Empress can just start picking off elemental weaknesses one by one. Any other issues from this fight in vanilla is in MQ.
Note: Fun Fair (Sora's Prankster'...
10 minutes
with funny blooper
yo pspeak music
wait
i do definitely get having a hard time, i struggled with it for a bit even though this boss wasn't my biggest roadblock (that was priestess lmao), but again i don't really think it's too bad as long as you play smart and don't just full aggro. i tend to default to that a lot since that's how ive played most persona games and the vanilla versions don't really punish you for it, but if you take your time and know when to be defensive it's more than doable
jet and i took the same amount of time but i was using tactics
jet issue
Lmao
why does dub fuuka sound like mickey mouse
lmao you hear the fucking steam achievement go off in my recording
😭
for beating emperor/empress
She's a little high pitched at points lol
jet didn't use buffs at the start????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
her voice only really gets high pitched if something bad is happening to you in the fight/story, but yeah i do kinda hear it lol. love her new VA though, i dont think the old one was as terrible as people say but this one is so damn good
whole english recast in general did an incredible job, as amazing as the original was i do honestly think i like the reload cast better overall
Fuuka/Junpei Jp VAs fighting for best performance on the game
bro he is not using buffs at all
how did he beat this mod
istg
HE FUCKED THE LOOP ON P2 BOSS THEME

and it's nice that the OG cast got to have reprisal roles too, like Yuri is Yukari's dad, Grant George is Takeharu Kirijo, Liam is Kurosawa, etc
Soz man he broke that casual wall
he's spamming guard instead of buffing
what a genius
can't get critted if you stall

my goat zeno robinson, genuinely perfect fucking casting
HE USED TARUNDA
Oh I never heard their performance in detail
doors is jp user
pretty much most ppl on this thread are

by the way, does speed buff affect amount of hits you get with multihit skills?
yes
fair enough, i also love the JP cast. i just prefer english for persona for whatever reason lol
Still crazy that it was entirely random in past games
idk how the mic picked this up
JP Dub and EN are both great in their own right
oh yeah speaking of junpei voce actors its the same dude as mista from part 5 in jp and that fits so well haha
extremely similar characters and fitting they have the same voice
I'm mostly an EN player but i do really like some of the JP dubs
this guy's funny
Like the fact u actually don't get spoiled on her main twist is great lmao
i mean with video games none of them are really dubs, since they aren't recording over footage in real time usually
I thought JP Yukari in Reload was awesome as well
i guess the prerendered/anime cutscenes are though
She did feel a lot more Rise-like at the start though I'll say
mfs getting paid to just do this
kinda hard to top this kind of VA work sometimes
oh yeah did you guys keep masuku on aki? im debating on what he should keep and idk what should go. rn my setup is:
gigantic fist, zionga, diarama, matarunda, elec boost, shock boost, single target boost, autotarukaja
What's the issue with protag having it?
yeah true, dont have auto ma on protag yet so i guess i can just grab it back from be blue v once i get those
thats the point its not an issue
protag has ma- version
aki's is useless
you're buffing whole party
aki's auto tarukaja is only good for that bit in midgame where protag can't get ma- version
Ah so Aki doesn't get a party-wide one?
nop
wait can you regain party member skills with be blue v i forgor how that works
that would be mental
yes but it costs a calendar day
cant you do it at night tho
ive already finished social stats as well as tanaka and mutatsu so dont really have much else going on besides getting team abilities
if u have nothing to do going to tartarus for those Max HP/SP cards is cracked

get that 999/999
oh shit i didnt even think of that lmao, i should start doing that
ive just been going to tartarsauce once a month more or less
you can get 999 on both if you start after oct 4
it's cruel I know but it's true
if you start at January you can get 999 HP but not SP
MQ made it significantly easier to Arcana Boost
yep, that's very appreciated
only a bit annoying if you get cards you dont want though haha
yeah its never anything bad
It's the Arcana Boost cards after all
just sometimes suboptimal haha
Fair but with random chance you can't really expect everything to go your way
yup
you're not forced to take majors either
unless every card is a major
then you're screwed

generally you'll probably want to drop the dia skills and shock boost for other stuff when it comes
and trade matarunda for debilitate at endgame
hmm, i wonder if that could be removed...
Probably, but I wouldn't
well, if it can, i think bf's for it aren't decompiling anyway
idk if this is already something you knew about and/or a tech limitation, but just had a confused teammate use an sp restore item in battle randomly. it was only a soul drop so basically didn't affect anything at all and it's literally the first time ive ever seen a confused teammate use an item period in my run instead of nothing or throwing money, but still
iirc Confused Teammates being able to use healing items and etc is intentional
Yeah that was in there a a niche
strega down, that was so much more fun than vanilla. flash grenade is kinda annoying since you can't dodge or reduce damage without spending a turn blocking, but rushing jin down like always does the trick lol
and i brought a shit persona roster by accident too, killed him before he even got to do his low health dialogue and i didnt even bring any personas with rakunda and charge/concentrate lmao
unbreakable cage to null flash grenade
hanged man down too, i forgot how fucking disgusting that thing is lmao
funny
someone on gb just said they're piss easy compared to strega
and that chidori is "strictly impossible without grinding in tartarus ahead of time"
oh, i totally forgot i'd planned on doing that. it's just 2 expatches, really simple. later, though.
i kinda figured, "eh, i set the licenses that anyone can reupload any part of the mod without permission, if there's demand for making parts of it standalone, then someone will do it." kinda not that simple, i guess
Everyone have different problems with bosses somehow lol
I spent 2 hours on a "tutorial" emperor and empress (partially because I was arguing here but still) but first try'd priestess
Me when I got stuck on Priestess for 3 hours while Emperor and Empress only took me 2 tries:
I don’t think low level Chidori is possible but that’s only a theory
I wonder if "optimal strategy" for empreror/empress includes getting aoa tarot and some kind of party buff cup card before the boss lol
Because I had all party evasion buff card in my fight and aoa tarot
this is kinda true but the "grinding" in question is just doing the tartarus block before Chidori's boss
but yeah if you fought her lower leveled, she'd probably one shot your members
I had to have both tarunda and rakukaja up at all times to not die to mind charge maharagidhain
Is the difference that big? I don't know how many levels you mean but, with the level scaling removed, will like 5 endurance make a big difference?
max HP is also a big factor
you probably could do it underleveled but you'd just need pretty optimal turn economy which on tactics is very difficult
doors funny karn strat
i had to have protag reapply marakukaja to not die on there cus aigis always prefers matarukaja
episode aigis is peak btw
only 5 hours in so it can totally pull an arqa
but so far its a considerable upgrade not just over base reload but over fes answer itself
well keep in mind skill balance wasn't exactly changed lol but ig getsu-ei isn't there to immediately ruin early game
i was dying watching faz' stream tho
bro was getting skill issue'd so hard
he used cheat engine
anyway even without major skill changes
the encounters themselves make the game way more engaging
its been pretty tactical so far

that's what happens when you put sh2 staff working on it
even normal encounters are hard
what party did you bring
did you make the right choice in benching fraudihiko for amada
still a fraudster
sorry mate aki sweep
yeah after 2 hours of grind
metis seems funny af though
metis is just shinji with magic
nah she's honestly better tbh
level 30 herculean
yeah i'm not tryna get spoiled
they saw people say she was bad in fes and took it personally
do u have justice yet
doesn't it literally have high crit
in trailer footage it seemed to crit like mad but maybe they fucked it up? or you're just krill issuing
i used it 5+ times already on aoe encounters and never got it to crit once
i have crit boosts too
meanwhile arrow rain always procs
arrow rain still disgusting i see
in base game its like 5% crit
yea
magic is the way to go for at least early game
with phys spam on aigis if they're downed
crit hasn't been consistent at all
phys 100% seemed better later on from what i saw of faz' footage but that's what i expected
no he cheat engine'd in money cus his fusions sucked
but sure phys is probably going to pick up ofc
i meant just going by party members
it was funny af though
bro does not know how to build personas
regardless its very well balanced so far

normal encounters included
turn 1 kills are rarer
purrhaps i should play it
is anything locked behind having a complete save from base game
no
you'll always start with 26% compendium completion
anything under level 24 is registered
i know a couple that she has but i feel like there's one more endgame one i haven't seen
but maybe i'm wrong
LMAOOOOOO
it's nice to hear that base episode aigis is actually good though
@dreamy orchid amada reinstated
great clock boosted the mf and now he's painfully ahead of everyone
did he learn his funny skill
no lol i'm still early game
whats he got rn
Mediarama
is arrow rain still his best offensive skill
its aoe and has good base
nah its mid
even with his shit stats it'd be decent
also might play it later but my power is going to have to be switched off soon
yeah
arrow rain with max hits is weaker than kouga
just tested
you could crit, but you won't
not much value gambling here when sp restore is free
fes gang
maybe if you sukukaja and rev
but i dont see the worth
you're right that the skill is technically better though
ken is just 0 strength
the monad bosses are awesome but why is it the same mfs for the last 3 hours
oh i just meant visually lmao, the fight was around the same difficulty as strega
I was checking rates of passives and buffs, does rebellion actually only give x1.07 crit rate multiplier? Because if so it's ridicilously useless
Kinda same for crit rate boost passive
no
its a flat +7% to the end crit rate
not a multiplier
crit rate boost/amp and rebellion/revolution are additives
so rebellion + revolution + crit rate amp would be +37% chance to crit
so say you were using getsu-ei for example, that'd be a 52% chance to crit
with apt pupil, would be 67%
so like, more likely to crit than to not crit lmao
you could have a skill with literally 1% crit rate and you'd still crit over a third of the time
I see I see
Ok it's about 8 to 9 hours in that the domino effect of level scaling, crit rates, and slash boost starts getting really funny
haven't tested this on an actual boss yet though
it's also basically the optimal build you can get for this kind of strat at this point in the game, but i didn't exactly work too hard for it
he has a billion rules more than elizabeth
like literally you breathe and he does 9999
i think
probably not that hard tho
People are overreacting
Is bro scared of 5 turns
no spoil pls
you can open flow in notepad mate
ah
And I'm doing stuff
Oh yea, I think I know what boss you’re referring to. ||I barely scrapped by||
So can someone link the detailed changes to the skill please?
All the changes MQ did is on its gamebanana page
I think by detailed they mean exact numbers
I remember Meovv had like a sheet with the skill numbers they used on MQ
I guess they could share that probably
Yeah the exact numbers of skills
Not really sure how meaningful that'd be in gameplay but Meovv probably has that
i have a list but i believe its outdated
I think also they were talking about not wanting to share that bc people would misinterpret it lol
Even tho you could (theoretically)literally go through the mod’s code and see what it did…
well yeah but I think it's a matter of not wanting the changes to be very clearly and easily visible to prevent people misinterpreting things
(but I do think if it doesn't already exist, a list of detailed changes would still be good)
And I would like to make a list of those detailed changes one day but if I did, I would have to keep it hidden as far away as possible.
That’s just sounds like a fear of hearing a “bad take” to me honestly. Especially in a game where you can build any persona to achieve a variety of goals. Aka there no right nor wrong answer
Actually there is a wrong answer because if you build an elec persona to use on a boss that nulls it you're just gonna die
But it is true that the games encourage trying to build to get strong Personas
Okay, fine, I'll do just that then xD
(this makes me more likely to judge so to speak but eh)
Misinterpretation complete.
Seems the only good skill for crits in mid game is assault dive, as everything else has lower crit chance then baseline weak phys skills, and fishing with them for crit is cringe considering 10% base crit chance on those.
Also, torrent shot seems to be superior to everything else until like level 50 (well unless you really want to crit).
Myriad Arrows was the best skill until endgame from my experience
Especially because its multi-target and thus nukes everything while critting a fuck ton
Well sure, but the earliest you can get it is level 40, while torrent shot is available on 17.
By "mid game" I mean like, level 20-40 I guess
40+ is, idk, "late mid game"? 😄
torrent shot is level 17?
¿Qué?
Also you can technically get myriad arrows earlier if you get lucky with sword cards, same with arrow rain
I do remember Torrent Shot being useful though
I had it for Hiero/Lovers
That's the earlist you can possibly get it, yes
that's funny
its like, level 30 something in p3
oh right
Blade of Fury is also insane for early-mid game
Because Matador has it at like level 28
Hm yeah, it deals a bit more damage than torrent shot per hit
Getting it is a bit difficult tho, matador is level 22 by default and you need to get him to 28
Hard focusing Strength arcana is kinda logical either way
Because a lot of the best Personas are Strength
|| https://youtu.be/hVDFFdwtDU8?si=VbFksOUMd3qLNild|| For some reason, I was expecting MQ to make it so this guy can’t just get 1 shotted by insta kill skills
I'm surprised Master Quest didnt make it so insta kill dark spells wont work against this guy.
Note: Sinister Shadows from Kingdom Hearts 2 over Master of Tartarus Reload is part of an another set of add-ons I was working on for my BGM modpack at the time of this video.
I probably won't release this one because I dont like how it loops.
Link...
Look, Shio! I remember to bring dark insta kill skills this time!!! Wait wrong boss
1 word: Elec Break
As someone who beaten the mod already did a full write up on it, I think judging it should not be a concern
Nothing against IKs working
It's rare and it's satisfying when it happens
Ken with Mahama in the answer actually goated with the sauce?
Would be a waste of SP since you'd have to keep Elec Break
and it would do neutral damage
elec break is worthless
ice is the only worthwhile break
if theurgies couldn't pierce there'd be a point
elec break is like
the only reason people can repel cheese hermit
its the best one fr
just drain cheese and turn on rush
repel is quicker though 😔
personally, i just kill it normally
don't need to resist elec if it never gets a chance to hit me
oh yeah I remember bringing Yukari and Aigis to hermit and I was still fine lol
holy crap ive been playing through episode aigis and its so much more apparent how my enjoyment has been increased by MQ balance changes, like the base game is still fun but it just feels slightly off and way too easy for me to just start turning my brain off and not be punished for it at all
also every fight has kinda felt like its lasted a tiny bit longer than it should have? like i think that's probably the level scaling but it feels like everything is so much spongier even if the numbers aren't super different objectively
episode aigis is imo pretty damn good up until 15 or so hours in where it becomes a bit easier, but still enjoyable
i'm having fun stacking as many boosts as possible with ailments and shift and shit
i feel like enemies are designed in a way that does force a little bit of build variety but a well placed theurgy does shit all over it
this might be a situation where i do in fact agree disabling elemental piercing is good
MQ and MQ Aigis are definitely going to have different rules applied to them
lmao that was my original experience
it occured to me that bringing 2 party members weak to elec to elec boss wasn't the best choice but thankfully the base game is easy
I brought Amada, Fatal End Guy and Koromaru in base game, then traded Koromaru for Akihiko in MQ
I'm curious, what did you guys use Aigis in MQ for, if anything at all?
chariot
Some of the Tartarus guardian fights, ||Chariot and Justice||, ||Chidori||, and ||Final Jin||.
I see. So basically only some bossfights?
Some really. She gets introduced mid game but with the way I play, I tend to use her more for the Tartarus guardians than the story mode bosses
She is a good buff bot but she’ll just burn SP too fast. Since you know, I can’t use SP items in battle and 2.0 isn’t gonna give too much leeway for this I reckon
Yeah
Also a shame that she's pretty much completely useless in exploration
I mean that was kind of true in vanilla but at least fishing for crits was more viable. Now with 5% crit chance.. meh
The tables
For real?
ah shit
i lost the auto charge sword i got for junpei
ah well ill get another im sure
Oh you died in an enemy encounter…damn
For exploration, she has some uses. Just in case I bump into an enemy that was just happen to weak to Pierce attacks but yea
Chariot/Justice, Takaya/Jin, Hanged Man, Chidori and most of Tartarus
She generally is in the upper-tier in terms of damage dealers in the party, along with having good support (irrelevant on direct commands) and really good passive skills
insta-heal and enduring soul especially make her very reliable, and once she gets myriad arrows her damage is solid for basically the entire game
trolled
got gloves for fraud
just keep doing monads until it drops again
True, I'm just sad she has no magic skill so can only bring her to bosses.. which means that levelling her is a bit annoying
why are you not using phys everywhere
it's the de facto optimal damage method even with all the mq nerfs
magic is basically a shift boost enabler
phys is 100% the best way to clear encounters lol
both on a pure damage basis and even generating 1-mores in my opinion
even with MQ crit nerfs its pretty obscene
But like, that's kind of just fundamental to the game's mechanics. Everything in how combat works pushes you towards phys, the only way to make it not almost always the best option would be to make it feel horrible to use lol
Me when I poked at an enemy with magic to find weaknesses only to find out it’s weak to physical attacks:
i only use magic when i really want a guaranteed shift
usually for shift boost + down bonus
Just cheat and google weaknesses
phys is quite literally better in every way
Why?.. Knock stuff down with magic, finish with aoa, get a guaranteed shuffle time
more time consuming, more resource consuming, aoa damage is dogshit 99.9% of the time, shuffle times are virtually guaranteed with phys too
Striking weaknesses presupposes finding them in the first place
yeah with phys you just go at it and crit anyway
your logic is what atlus wants you to do but it's not how the game works
Which means manually testing elements (waste of resources for bad damage) or googling weaknesses (waste of time and also gay), whereas with phys I just monkey brain use aoes and either one shot or get like 3 extra turns from crits
yeah phys is literally better for your aoa finishes too
if you really wanted them
shuffle time is also overrated as fuck
even with MQ magic buffs and phys nerfs, it still really felt like phys was the way to go
nah shuffle time is pretty aight
can get some good skills early
it is, yes
like phys boosters and myriad arrows
but it's nowhere near as super important as people make it out to be
only cards worth taking are sword and occasionally wand tho
And finally, phys spam is also boring af
the game being boring isn't my fault
When I tired of actually playing on my first playthrough I also just cleared the rest of the game with phys spam
I just don't see any reason to use objectively worse and less efficient options to artificially extend playtime and difficulty
You can make it less boring if you try to actually hit weakness with shift chains and all, you know, playing the gaming the intended way and all
you're just matching puzzle pieces together with the assist button lol
You are artificially extending difficulty with this mod no 😄
in MQ magic is pretty decent once you get dhains (before you get heavy aoe phys at least lol) and can keep up with severes at endgame, but there really is nothing in the game to actively push you to use magic
Yeah and even in the mod, phys is generally much better and more convenient lol
That is what I did when fighting Adamah enemies for some incense cards
the answer quite literally does all that routine with phys and it's more fun
metis is extremely fun to play with
No but see I have to choose the correct element myself after I've googled the weakness
How so?
waste of time
you're cheating to find weaknesses but a crit is too boring for you
what the fuck lol
actual masochism
i'm really surprised they like
Eh.. idk maybe. At least I have to use the second braincell to chain weaknesses rather than just phys spam
didn't make any sweeping balance changes with the answer
they didnt but it feels a lot better
there should ideally be incentive to actually do this, but as it stands there just isn't lol
the gap in damage is just way too huge to overlook, especially now that phys has booster passives
kinda impossible to not have phys be better even with nerfs since its literally better by design
even with lower base it catches up and surpasses even
"just phys spam" doesn't cut it in the answer
oneshots require proper setup of all the shift-specific boosts
best friends is actually useful in the answer lmao
Well that's an upgrade from base game's "come with theurgy loaded" I guess
part of me feels compelled to try it to fact check you but i also have more important things i could be doing
not in forced encounters tho since MQ reset your gauge to 0
my stupid chud life...
I don't have Shadow Hound yet
that tells you everything you need to know
justice seemed pretty pog tho
also this has huge hater vibes ngl
well i can't deny i am a hater
i don't have much compulsion to play the game of my own accord cus i know i won't like most of the changes and i didn't enjoy the gameplay of base game
I don’t say she’s that better. Besides that unfair to compare bc Shinjiro’s only available for 1 chapter of the main game
but part of me wants to play it just to like
it's better than the fes version
be able to give a full opinion

she has a better kit than him lol sorry
they're both pushed party members though
Don’t say thaaaat
she literally is, it's not subjective
she gets boost and amp equipment at level 50
auto charge equips
she's the highest damage party member in the game potentially too
she's technically exactly tied with junpei
Ok ok, there’s a lot of reasons but I really don’t want to compare her to Shinji
he can maybe be better actually cus he gets shift amp boots cus male character
but like, shifting to her makes more logical sense
if shinji were permanent he would only be top 3
the shift amp shoes aren't in the answer
metis is permanent and she is probably #1
unless it's way later and i missed it
i like this design more than what she had in fes (i.e. literally nothing) but i also wish she weren't so obviously pushed to make you wanna always use her lol
I used Metis a lot in episode Aigis but that’s only because it’s to prepare a segment that happens really late into the dlc
And it’s going to be same in Episode Aigis MQ edition
like in reload version there seems to be 0 reason not to bring her, especially cus psyche is neutral to everything
You do pay 35$ to play with her and you're forced to level her accordingly due to the duo battles
it makes sense she'd be designed as a mainstay
i think she should be like, better than average but not to such an egregious extent
also, sorry, but all the boost stacks are really fun to pull off in direct commands
especially cus xp share exists now
I would never take metis off the party anyway so I don't really care
Not to level up other party members you didn’t use like Mitsuru and Akihiko?
clock pulls 2
you can do clock and not remove metis

so i never did
you have too many characters to realistically clock everyone up, especially given the level boost caps
so at least a couple will always be underleveled
this is false
the clock is much more common, i have everyone on par most of the time
oh do you get it like all the time now
no
To close the exp disparity
the rate is the same, but explorations reset more frequently
because there is no calendar
oh does leaving a door count as like resetting it
oh that's funny
ig its a better implementation than in the base game but at that point, why not just have an actual xp share system
ig this way promotes switching a little more
probably better than p5's in that sense
it also lets you optionally do a no restore challenge run
dude
so he had ken at level 25 lol
faz played on peaceful, used cheat engine, died to the sees duos
and then had the balls to call the game a slog
he also used yukari the entire game which is a major red flag lmao
he used yukari/junpei/metis literally the whole way through
he left junpei at level 15 in the base game
insane considering he's the best character in the game
did he also do that in fes
oh lmfao
Which I saw other people did in the original and I would’ve done it in Reload and Episode Aigis if I never cared about level disparity
like the characters
everything
?
doesnt like tartarus, doesn't like the story
probably doesn't like the gameplay in general
not that he experiences it, rushing on peaceful for content
like ofc running through the dungeon floors is a slog you're on the mode that makes it an empty corridor??
don't spoil the fights
then chat made him unlock shadow hound and he won lol
please
i won't
bruh
Little late for that now, Lance
he didn't unlock any theurgias
until chat forced him cus he kept dying
and people were getting mad
quality stream
i was dying watching them
At least he got the ad revenue and donations
is this how average persona fan plays the game
||Petition to increase the battle level of Colosseo Purgatorio to level 90+ to make people beat the reaper before hand||
cringe considering the entire party leaves after that point
I wouldn’t say that’s cringe. I would say based bc I beaten these hd era games at level 90+
Especially in MQ and MQ made the final area on the y know what day level 90+, I just think it would be a good idea
dude
the game limits you to two party members
you should not have to fight the reaper as a two man team that's a stupid design decision that'd softlock most people
Not as a 2 man team. As in before finishing the last door
then you'd have to make the that boss level 90+ too
the reaper request drops at level 40
which is dumb 😭
you can do it anytime
yea but mq reaper is tuned much higher
you'd not beat him early lol
yeah he was proposing making the duo fights level 90+ lol
i want to make them 99 actually
like
would you want metis and aigis to be scaled to around that point for them
or just give them level 99 stats
They already are
you fight them at that level?
i'm about to do ??? and everyone is like 75
idk
i'm going to scale everything so normal battles don't push you over the edge to overlevel
in other words sharpen the level curve of enemies
the answer's curve is very good but it falls off about 70% of the way through
if you do all monads etc
i have no clue what you're referring to and i don't want to ask
I think a good way of doing that is to just throw away the "weakness hunting" and just auto reveal all affinities, and then make hitting weaknesses actually rewarding
Are you talking about ||greed shadows|| or???
p4g ass shit
just have fes' scanning mechanic lol
reload kinda disincentivises using scanning at all due to it now costing sp, so you just don't bother
yeah, you have to wait a turn and you run out of sp fast
no those aren't in fes lmao
Then I’m drawing blanks and it’s been a few years since I last played FES
And all of the enemies in that game are goofy as hell
Like the ||boss Minotaur move that knows Magarudyne||
nuh uh
the boss before ??? is still the funny mushas from og
unfortunately: 6000 damage with orgia mode
ima be real the shift chaining and boosts kinda tickles the monkey brain
if enemies endured more damage i'd have no problem with any of this
it would make unboosted attacks utterly worthless though
hey kinda like smtv

I think there's a sweet spot where if you line up every possible boost and circumstance you can nuke it one turn
just requires abysmal amounts of testing the same bosses over and over
scathach time
really wish i hadn't known from trailers
feels like critical information
oh it's 1 foe
i was about to
at the "massive"
just in handy
got a pierce amp card on a chest right before
😈
You could just fuse a Bishamonten
It's the only level 99 normal enemy in the series iirc
Indolent Maya's in there but it's completely different to beat
It still spams Black Viper but it has that 3 passives every fucker in endgame has in reload
(null shock/freeze/dizzy)
they knew magic was too good and so had to crack down on it
Pretty sure it'd die if Junpei sneezes at it
LMAO
2 stars
he literally needs like 200k hp just to stay afloat with the balance
he didnt even change personas
died turn 1
they should've done the strega thing
with the forced hp
idk why they didnt

im gonna do the duels now
Nah no HP force is good
The HP pools just falls off real hard at this point
Same goes for SEES
yeah i assumed as much
Happens in FES too
they need smtv levels of hp sponge
both games have same dmg but persona has way less hp
100K HP satan
it would be playable is what im saying
Yeah it'd be fun
If a skill like Paraselene Blur needs to be casted 32 times to beat a boss I think that's a good thing
||300||
So it's stronger than Bleeding Fury
yea it has massive in the description
finished answer
??? was funny
but everything else was surprisingly okay
erebus felt the same as the original
except you have 2k damage on demand, but even then it wasn't too bad
So what're the ideas for Master Quest the Answer after finishing it Vanilla?
It's mostly good and only really needs a few surface level changes
Journey data is in there, so if I could actually load it, I might do vision quests/virtual trainer with special rules
harder every time you beat it
??? and duels need like 3x HP or more
Might make the AI more vicious
Might disable theurgy piercing on the answer only (need to test)
Since you'll get weaker piercing skills anyway, breaks and walls
And I'll figure out how to do vs Ringo properly eventually ig
technically you're wayyy stronger in the answer but it feels more fun and I'd rather buff enemies than nerf you, this time
I was also thinking I'd change the AI of some of the Abyss of Time bosses to mimic AI from other Atlus games, but I'm not sure which are viable to bring over
so far i mostly agree that it doesn't need too much changing, but maybe the party members need a bit more balancing out in terms of usefulness? im not done yet but so far i've hardly ever had any reason to use anyone but Ken, Metis and either Junpei or Koro. Everyone else feels like they learn their useful skills way behind the curve compared to what both your personas and the enemy are using, and it has just kinda funneled me into braindead phys spam even more because it's so hard to keep up with using magic and engaging with the weakness system
like why would i ever bring yukari when she is stuck with media around the same level ken learns mediarama without anything to really help her beat him out in usefulness? or why bring Aki in general when pretty much everyone else can do what he does better (though that last one is kinda true in the journey too lmao)
mitsuru gets mabufudyne, which is weaker than metis' deathbound and junpei's blade of fury at level 75, while they get those skills at 45 and 48 respectively
oh god yeah i thought mitsuru couldn't get any worse
its literally impossible for magicheads to keep up because of both the lower damage and the skills being later for some reason lol
they did my girl so fuckin dirty
mitsuru gets it earlier than yukari at least
yukari magarudyne is 76 and she also doesn't have any boosters innate by that point
so she can't even double stack
oof, meanwhile ken has got basically bottomless sp and iirc even gets his regen passive way before yukari gets her discount, and can actually do decent damage too
not to mention also having zionga a million years before aki to make him even more of a wasted slot
Mitsuru is absolutely garbage and Yukari gets scammed
so same as vanilla basically
Boss Akihiko has Charge, which????? why does party version not get this
Junpei has Tentafaroo
MitsuJunpei shippers at atlus i guess
that's taken from the original version
he also has tempest slash which is from the ps2 version
despite not learning it in his kit
the dog has inferno lol
the only bosses that seem like, radically different from the original ones are koro, aki and yukari
i mean caesar has a sword i guess
no junpei
oh ok
yukari has weird shit now
I oneshot aki too
like ice break and marakunda
Junpei actually critted me for 1000 once
they gave mitsuru marakunda in her kit but were like nah give it to boss yukari
They made the turn order anti-synergetic
should've been matarukaja like in og fr
yukari already has a debuff too, she gets masakunda
Ken first, Junpei first, Yukari first, is all anti synergetic
masukunda sucks though so like probably a good thing they changed it
ken first i kinda get but its weird given vile assault
fr? ik it's not as good as in mq but it's never really felt too bad to me and i've noticed missing more if i got hit with it
but he still has revolution now like in the original??? even though that's koro's thing now?
it feels like for some of them they copy-pasted from ps2 but then for others they changed pretty massively
them using theurgia would also be a lot cooler if they had unique effects and weren't basically just reskinned severe magic
oh yeah i dont want any specific spoilers but is the prep for joker fight annoying, because i never really got around to making the proper personas to deal with all of liz's rules since it would have taken forever and i'd imagine its even more painful without fusion bonus xp
does koro do power howling
yes
ah
i saw yukari do tranquility but like, after mitsuru already died
so it was just fancy concentrate
aki second theurgia is literally thunder reign reskin though
and ken's one is severe light fr
It should be Blizzard Edge into Pierce Amp Myriad Arrows imo
that's why Mitsuru second is dumb
i like the idea of anti cheese for the superbosses but in practice it just kinda means the personas you've been using for the rest of the game are banned and you have to make brand new ones just for the superboss and grind them up too
It's so easy to fix too
P3R has code for Wall and Break, from P5
i might just integrate it
can't break phys tbf

freeze breaks phys
yea but its not a passive affect
giving them a boss only phys break would be funny tho
like what is the boss gonna see you null phys then use an unblockable 100% freeze move
and lose an accessory slot? sure
not possible i don't think
yeah i think it's just you cant have anything stronger than resist and some other edge cases
are there any accessories that would be better
the flag doesn't exist
oh yeah i figured that wouldn't work for modding, i just meant as a concept lol
did they add anything specific that'd be better in episode aigis
cus at least in base game, null all ailments is 100% the best accessory
oh yeah do you have to fight him solo like liz or do you get to have a party
party
There's auto-charge which makes every boss one-turnable and Aigis gets a gift from metis that gives her shift amp and it's meta because the shift amp skillcard is rare and chernobog takes time to level up
that's good at least, though how does that work with their personas having null
you can probably set up an elaborate one-turn kill with all 4 party theurgias
iirc some of the previous superbosses have a damage cap megidolaon to stop you from OTK but idk if that's true here
I had every possible boost at the end through equipment and some passives
yeah but by endgame you can get auto-charge+concentrate from cup cards
so its irrelevant for big bosses
like at least for jonkler you'd wanna farm the cup card beforehand
100% on every fight instantly vs Grind until it drops (never saw it in 30 hours)
its queen card
never saw it
they can't act if they're already dead bro
It's a waste bruh
just hit hard enough
why get the queen card and waste time if you can just equip a thing and do 7000 damage guaranteed without prep
auto charge + concentrate for the entire party is miles better than wasting accessory slot on auto-charge when you could run something better
at least for jonkler persona 5
