Yeah I think that’d be helpful
Someone said they were gonna do a visual guide right?
Yea idk who but someone was gonna make a video
Someone mentioned making a video guide tho that might've just been in passing
Fwiw I recommend NOT making a video tutorial. They go out of date very quickly (especially at this stage of a games life) and obviously can't be updated like a written guide can.
As time goes on they just end up confusing people and causing more trouble than they're worth
That's fair
sorry i was planning to do a video guide maybe once i get some free time but ive been swamped with exams and assignments
i was planning to put links to important files and stuff in the desc as a template too but i also want to be more informed on it first
Nah ur good. Life's more important than videogames lol
oh oops i just saw this if thats the case i might not bother then
Any guide is better than no guide, but written is best. If video's your preferred option I'd just urge you to private it as soon as it becomes obsolete
I like written too cos you can do stuff like add a little section specifically for troubleshooting etc and refine it over time
thats true, i just havent used gb for anything outside of downloading mods before
so im not super familiar with it but i could probably do both realistically once i have time but i wouldnt be surprised if someone beat me to it
- it might be better for someone who feels more confident about the process to do it than me HAHA i just wanted to give back because everyone here has been so nice
I mean hey it hasn't happened yet and honestly there's no harm as long as you're not putting yourself out
sounds like this person is going to make a written guide with screenshots anyways so once thats out i can probably build a video off of it? and once the method becomes outdated i can unlist it or priv it
i got step 2 done now at step 5 but when i want to listen to music inside bgm I get static noise did i extract wrong bgm.awb file?
omg thank you i just gonna wait now
i'll try to be as clear and concise as possible
yoo dope
its not a problem if its not the same length as the original hex code, is it?
i just noticed that my replacement seemed to be a bit shorter
the acb you inject is always supposed to be smaller than the uasset
it should never go past the length of the original uasset
take your time cause right now i am so confused with everything.
🫡 ok i just wasnt sure ty nate
it's nate but sure
oops
no swet lmao it happens all the time
in other news i am officially on the "open the hex editor" step
someone save me
it doesn't help that i'm planning to talk about loop points
the original p3 tracks have their loop points in that one text file so I got saved there...other than that I have no clue
pymusiclooper is the one i'm gonna be talking about in the guide
manually doing it in audacity will have to be it's own guide
yea this is what i used
and for the one that i didnt have that for i just trimmed it in audacity
so that the end of the track would just smoothly transition to the beginning
if thats not how that works i will find out the hard way in however long :')
that's the traditional way of doing it
but there's a program that does it automatically
boooo that's cheating you gotta do it the hard way
fair enough
i've done my fair share of audacity loop point cbt though so
i think i've earned it
maybe i just find it more gratifying to do that sort of thing myself for some reason rip
hmm
i only did it for one song anyways but if i notice it then ill probably just refer to your guide to fix it for the one song
Same lol. Kinda weird but I find the audacity suffering fun, best part of the process for me
I definitely get why people hate it tho
I have a question about the end of the guide. where it says "take bgm.acb out of the Stream folder, and then launch your game with Reloaded-II. you can repeat the steps with the command prompt up to using acbeditor with the bgm folder over and over again when you want to add new songs"
Does that mean I just start the steps from the command prompt until the end of the guide again for the other songs I'd like?
I think what it means is once you've got the bgm folder extracted you can just encode .hcas as you wish, replace them, and follow the guide from there
I'm pretty sure you also have to overwrite the uasset bytes every time too
you do
got it! man that's a lot of music to replace lol. but I can't stop at mass destruction
which version of mass destruction is this?
the og from p3, I really can't stand the reload version
the dlc ban mod thing sucks
. does anyone know the name of that song that plays when you're just walking around the city in general? trying to replace it and I have no idea which it is
when the moon's reaching out stars
ID is 00051
this should be relatively complete
@royal stone i know you were waiting on this right
someone give this guy a medal
and pin this or put it in an important place or something
i guess thats true
all i want right now is a bandage because my finger is bleeding
I can't find bgm.uasset
should be in the cuesheet folder
thank you stego
is it in pakchunk0?
i'm ngl i didnt even know that was an option lmaoooooo
that shouldn't be too different i believe
at the top of the archives window
the dropdown you can set to all and hit load
maybe should've mentioned that in the guide now that i think about it
this is all the b- stuff I can find
im fkn blind holy shit

thank you
updated tut
that's wholly on me
i don't think there are many similar issues with it but if there are i'll fix em as soon as i hear about em
also just want to mention someone also got this wrong
wdym
uh
I think it said something about the wrong line? idk
way back up there when the thread started
oh here it is
i guess for the uninitiated (me) they'd assume there's only one @utf thingy
then again the tut says "first" so it's your fault if you get stuck there
that's the first one in the file
yeah that's the first one
You need to search when you're at the top of the file
If you search when you're past this UTF it'll bring you to the next one in the file
yeah i think hxd and most other hex editors search from cursor position and not start of file
yea I'm not sayin the tut is wrong or anything, just that someone could start searching beyond the first one for some reason
i see
lmao
Drop the .hcakey file into the bgm folder and open the new hca files in foobar2000.
sorry I don't get how I'm supposed to do this. Do I drop the files into foobar, or use File > Open?
i'm getting a playback error
still nothing ._.
it says unsupported file format
what am i doing wrong
is there some sort of plugin I missed
ooh
should I come back later or
wydm
Install to foobar2000 if you're talking about the plugin
i'm just getting another playback error
which one did you download?
You gonna share a screenshot then..?
I just did this step, here's how I did it: on foobar go to file>preferences and you should already be on the components tab. click install and select the plugin and then click apply. Also, rename your hcakey file to have a . in front of it so it looks like the picture. The music will still be distorted without doing that
Sorry to bother you, I'm at step 2 of the audio tutorial. I have select everything from there until the end of the file, but how I "save this selection as a separate bgm.acb file" ?
I use HxD software
file>save selection
