#Applying EPL Effects to specific bones issue

Trying to take the fire effect EPL from the OG Surt model and apply it to the DX2 Surt model I just imported. Running into a few issues though. My method at first for inserting the fire was grabbing the blind data info from the surt model, copy and pasting it onto, what I believe to be, the sword bone for the DX2 model, saving the gms, then converting gms to gmo, and replacing the MODEL_DATA inside the surt model with the new Surt DX2 MODEL_DATA. This didn't work as the fire effect just displays attached to the feet. I have just attempted Mudkip's method of extending the data chunks inside the AMD then hex editing the EPL inside, same exact issue. I've attached the gms file, fire effect epl, the amd file, and a picture of what's happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

#

it's on the feet in battles too :\

#

although

#

huh that's super strange

#

it kinda seems like the fire is actually scaling to the length of the weapon?

#

a little hard to tell though

#

just tested this "method" on a weapon

#

it does not respect the changes

#

so

#

either the method doesn't work (meaning i'm doing it wrong) or the EPL won't respect the positioning even if you apply it to a new bone, it'll stick with the default positioning

#

the funny thing is, one person in here knows what to do, but no matter how many times i ping them asking for support, they never help naosmiley

#

they've done what i'm trying to do right now, so they know how to do it

#

but they refuse to tell me or anyone else

#

@worn plank any idea?

#

slightly more info

#

no it's not moving with the blade, but when i apply the same technique to the weapon, it does move with the weapon

#

it's not aligned to the weapon bone itself it seems

#

but it's definitely moving with it

#

which leads me to believe the fire effect is applied to the wrong bone in the surt model but uh

#

what other bone could it be besides j_sword haha

#

alright so slight mistake on what i said in p4-modding chat

#

you do not apply the epl_effect template to the amd, you apply it to the EPL, who would've gussed

#

still no idea where to go from here

If you have a bone that the epl moves with, then I'd try cloning it and readjusting it until its in the right place for the epl to be. I'd also recommend "decompiling" Pio's surt from HD Persona Models since he seems to have EPL's nailed down perfectly from what I remember and you could use his as reference.

#

Oh and I just remembered, I think taking the epl bone from the original model and adding it into the new one was a tactic I used some times for this kind of thing, I don't remember how well it worked but thats another thing to try

frosty crown
#

the epl is not moving with the bone at all

#

it remains static and flat against the floor

#

i will say though, it seems to respect the rotation of the root bone?

frosty crown
#

this is where the data is in the surt gms file

#

also i have been using pio's file for comparison naosmiley

#

this entire time

frosty crown
#

alright well

#

copied the EPL from the og surt model, including the blind data

#

same issue :DDDDDD

#

please come back and explain what literally any of what you said means

#

can someone explain one other thing me

#

when i copy the blinddata from sword, the fire doesn't show up, at all

#

but when i copy blind data from fucking pelvis bone 01, it does????

frosty crown
#

talked to pioziom

#

issue is not fixable due to the bones being broken

#

that’s the issue

#

i would have to redo the entire model

#

and simply turning an fbx into a gmo breaks it
