If the problem only occurs with mods enabled (double-check this!), then it's likely caused by a bug in one of the mods you have installed. Try disabling each of your mods one by one, launching the game and testing as you go to narrow down the problem mod. Once identified, report the issue to the author so they can fix it! -

there's the widescreen pcsx2 patch, which you'll just drop into your cheats folder
then you'll need to install widescreen font fix with aemulus, as well as community widescreen fixes if you're not using P3HD, and stretched bustup fixes if you are

open your iso in 7zip, there'll be a file called SLUS_216.21. Extract that out and add .ELF to the end
there's you elf file
it tells the emulator where to scan for mods basically

store the ELF where ever you want. As long as you set aemulsu to the folder your ELF is in, you'll be fine

and this is a fresh install of PCSX2 so are there any other important settings i should flick on

@silk surge there should be a section in the pnach that says "font fix"
which causes the weird spacing
delete it or comment it out and the spacing should be fixed
text will look fine too since you're using Joenator's widescreen font fix
