If you've got the frame overlay as a transparent png, it owuld probably be more consistent to just replicate a gradual blur on each frame in photoshop and overlay the frame as necessary

- Fixed Makoto's eyes looking off compared to old upscales + everyone else in the group
- Applied blur(thanks to a friend's help) and made sure it didn't look inaccurate, but you can still veto that
- Reapplied the Camera overlay over the blur to keep consistency
What I did to quickly test these ffmpeg -framerate 29.97 -pattern_type sequence -i "$filename%03d.png" -s:v 1704x1080 -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p out.mp4

I was going to say that in that case I could just release it but then I had a somewhat cynical thought that concerns me about doing that. If I did I'd be worried about someone else making basically a lower effort p3f cutscenes mod and stealing rudiger's spotlight. I'd hate to see that happen considering I know that he's putting a lot of effort into it and I'm sure it'll turn out really good so with that concern in mind I don't think I'd release it publicly.
That being said I wouldn't mind dming you (or anyone else who asks me) it so you could start working on stuff if you want to, I assume you won't be ready to release the answer stuff for quite a long while anyway
Technically it is already public since the repo is but I'm not really too worried about that, I'd hope anyone smart enough to find the repo and build it from there would also be smart enough not to steal someone else's wip mod idea

@flint turtle howd you deal with the different aspect ratios? straight p3f to mp4 to usm is stretched ingame, is there any setting in sofdec to change aspect ratio somehow? or is it more complicated

You can add pillarboxing to the frames with ffmpeg. That's what I did before. Now that I'm using premiere pro more, I set my sequence settings appropriately there instead.

Usms support dual audio and subs, but I don't think the support is actually in the game to be able to enable it

the answer ones dont have it so it hasnt been an issue so far but the velvet room cutscene is the same as the journey one so that one does have it
FES does this stupid thing where some scenes have them as part of the video and others have them added artificially in-game. I just removed them all from the frames that had them for my purposes. The aspect ratio of the videos are incorrect too and have to be fixed

A week or two ago I was talking with a friend about this mod and they brought up the possibility of it working on the FeMC route. Obviously the cutscenes would have the wrong MC (at least until Commando and those guys finish their FeMC cutscenes, if they actually do) but they said they'd still prefer to be able to see the cutscenes since they add quite a lot over the normal visual novel gameplay. While I couldn't say for sure I suspect this opinion might be shared by a lot of other people (particularly if it's your first P3 game I think the cutscenes would be really nice), you could probably do a twitter poll or something to gague interest if you wanted to
Is that something you'd consider doing? I'm not sure how much of your work is adding the cutscenes into the event bfs but I'd hope that doing it twice for each event wouldn't be too much extra effort if you did do it
@lapis gate don't worry we plan on actually doing all the cutscenes that have Makoto in them and replacing them with Kotone. Also all the other ones that reference the protagonist in any fashion
As for adding the cutscenes in Kotone's route, rudiger said that he would plan on adding our cutscenes in-game when we are completely finished
Yeah, ik you were planning to do it. The if were more about if you actually finish them all, so far it looks like you're making good progress so I'm pretty hopeful but I've seen promising things disappear, just keeping my expectations in check.

Its just the fact Atlus didnt put Effort making a TRUE Definitive version Mixing both P3Fes and P3P Content into one massive game is a crime. Cause P3 Without FES Cutscenes just doesnt cut it for me. It adds more emotion and value to your experience

I can now create a perfectly smooth transition from the "always by your side" video into the credits. On PSP there was always this flicker for a second that I couldn't get rid of.

Btw @lapis gate I think we might need to remap the skip button to something other than X / Start. I didn't realise until now (sorry), but that button is also used during events for opening a log that shows previous dialogue (like p4g has).
You can get some weird scenarios where the cutscene is skipped but the log is opened at the exact same time.

So, the only problem with start is that it has a chance to open the log right? I might be able to prevent that but it'd depend on whether the code that processes flowscript is run first or the one that checks for opening the log (I have no idea which order it'd be, I'd just have to try and see)

Ironically I'm starting to think a little bit of compression is a positive in some ways - it sort of subtly masks some of the imperfections in the upscale and stops it from looking "too clean" in that weird way AI-upscaled stuff does.

The mod is "done". Meaning all the scripting is complete, I've got USMs of every cutscene working in-game.

alright, done. mostly all are based on official one in P3P, only some lines that are translated by myself. What's left to do is checking and adjusting.
Cool. Although, (I'm not sure if I said before but) I'm not interested in creating other versions of my videos in different languages. You'll have to do that yourself.
All of my English subtitles are applied as images (.png) overlayed in Premiere Pro. Not .ass or whatever.
What I've done already has been more than enough work for one project imo π

yeah don't worry, I read that on gamebanana so I know. I just shared the progress I made. Well, if in the future there's a guide about combine these and convert all that stuff, I can doing research and try to do it myself. Maybe other people interested doing their own languages as well.

Managed to get all the videos down to about 5gb total per pack. 
I've been thinking about how to distribute the mod since GameBanana only allows a maximum upload size of about 1.5gb.
How do you guys feel about me distributing the Reloaded II / scripts part of the mod on GameBanana, then asking people to download whichever video pack they want (Eng, Eng+Subs, JP+Subs) separately via a torrent or something?
I don't have paid cloud storage to be able to upload everything to a gdrive... π«

If it happens it won't be for a while, it's mostly down to me porting movie player to switch (and probably making mod.cpk or something since repacking the entire thing is annoying)

Probably worth noting in the instructions @flint turtle. Either restart Reloaded or launch the game through Reloaded the first time after installing cutscenes restored for movie player to automatically download (or 1-click install with it not open, then when you open it to set the stuff up it'll happen)

Yeah, sorry you may see these rarely due to Atlus' original videos being interlaced. Thankfully they're not common and I might be able to remove them further with some manual editing in future.
