Is it possible to add something like that?

#

i think so, wouldn't this be kinda op though

#

you could probably add something like that but you'd have to make it random chance or something if you wanted to balance it since we can't adjust modifiers for stat buffs afaik

wdym

#

im pretty sure they mean like, making the guard trigger a kaja

#

which if guards are treated like i think they are should be possible

#

if its treated like a skill it should be possible to just give it one of the kaja's effect

hoary delta
#

guard is not treated like a skill it's not in the skill.tbl

#

it's definitely somewhere else i can guarantee that much

#

that or it doesnt have a notable way for me to tell

thin flower
#

ahh fuck

#

then yeah prob not possible

#

it was like that in p4g iirc

#

maan

hoary delta
#

imho it might be possible it'll just be hard

true

hoary delta
#

like it's def a can of worms we havent touched yet

#

I do plan to explore all avenues of custom skills (and passives) in the future though

#

so hopefully we figure it out someday

I don't understand why you would need this one tbh

Like, people barely guard in this game. Probably only did when you're waiting out on a strong attack. That or they got ambushed (auto guard at the start of battle)

Isn't that the reason why someone would want that? that's an entire command that spends the entire of the game collecting dust and taking up space unless the game spends an enemy turn waving a giant sign saying "use guard or perish next turn!!!"

thin flower
#

idk i've used it

#

especially in merciless bosses

#

when you know the enemy can i fact kill you if it wants to you have to choose wether you'll do smth like buffing or dmg or whatever or if you'll prioritize allies being alive

With how much bullshit damage you can do, how you can immobilize people with sleep or freeze or shock or any ailment, really

#

You're better off being on the offense harder with those tools than wasting a turn

#

I only see it when I get ambushed and even that is pretty rare

It can be used to turn the tables on difficult bosses for those who are struggling

#

I get it might be "OP"

#

But literally everything in Royal makes you op

#

So what's the harm of having a function like this for those who might like it?

eager crescent
#

Idk I just don't see much of a purpose in a game where you one shot being the best strat

Why make a difficult choice of either to use a skill or guard, when you can get a benefit for trying to use one of the main functions of the battle system

#

Orginally I though of putting out this idea since I remembered one of my other favorite RPGs, Bravely Default.

#

And it kinda acts like a spiritual successor to an a idea for The Rebel Gauge Mechanic from smash that I had.

I've actually kind of thought up of something kind of like this. What if there were more incentives to Guard other than defending against 2 turn attacks?

#

I originally thought a small bump of HP or SP regen but I figured that would be way too OP

#

Kinda hard to make balanced tbh

I'm not suggesting the buff be heat riser
