Without the sword, the item options are limited to the crossbow and the traps, since none of the light throwable end up having any utility.

From a non-UR player:
For me, removing the swords removed a damage type which makes the game even more tedious to play through. As the Ranger, I can shoot my way through and if I get swarmed by skeletons or the tiki mask guys or anything else resisting ranged, I can lasersword my way through.
With the VH not having this option anymore and having just ranged (basically the same reason I don't play Sorcerer, with only 1 type of damage) it becomes the shoot, kite, shoot, kite, shoot, kite, (repeat infinitely) kind of game, wasting a lot more time then needed.
I also think the light throwing weapons are redundant damage type with the corssbows and they should have been removed instead of the sword (or replace light throwing weapons with magic books, having more characters do magic damage would be cool).

No way you will want to dash with a sword using VH when the VH playstyle is literally to play safe

I have 2 reasons to want the sword back:

  1. Longsword is the best positioning tool. Losing it on VH removes her only mobility. I always used to run crossbows/longsword/trap on her, and longsword plays really well into her trap playstyle - throw a trap, attack enemies, pull them into your trap, then tap longsword to retreat when they get too close to you, drop another trap, rinse and repeat. It gives her a lot more uptime on crossbows. Also it lets you complete cooperative button puzzles when you're solo.

  2. They let her keep Light Thrown. LIGHT THROWN. On a character with the highest DPS ranged weapon in the game. If they're going to remove a weapon type from her, remove light thrown.

Imo this is easily the worst change they have made to the game since they brought it back.

Also, if they hadn't nerfed shortbow charged spam ranger into the ground ranger would still be a great kite DPS

Personally, i would like VH to have the longsword for mobility, and mana cost won't be a problem.
Even if i don't use swords on archer, but I know longsword is a good option, because she is already fast and won't resist a melee fight against many I prefer keeping distance and my unyielding+speedy longbow I think still do more damage/second than a sword, maybe, to enemies with quick reflexes.

why on earth are you at the front anyways, you're not playing archer, just because both use bows doesn't mean they should play the same

I've been playing VH solo through the campaign, because I like to 100% clear maps and other people like to end as soon as they see the exit. Reasons to use Longsword: Reposition after triggering enemies from buildings, like in Prisoner's Keep. Complete button puzzles that would otherwise be impossible alone. If you're dealing with high health enemies chasing you, longsword gives more uptime on crossbows.

My request is for light thrown to be replaced with swords, because swords are more useful to the VH, especially in the campaign.

It's worth noting that even if both are using Longsword, the VH and Ranger play differently. Ranger uses longsword to get through tight gaps of enemies in UR Frostgaard and to escape difficult situations after aggroing enemies from buildings in Prisoner's Keep. VH uses Longsword for the same aggro pulling, but also to increase uptime on crossbows because of her terrible mobility.

I'm fine without swords on VH, it just means I run double bomb or 2 types of crossbow, but I'd prefer to have swords, especially rather than light thrown.
