Meteor shower spell

So I want a spell thats like a meteor shower where it just rains down "meteors" from the sky.
Wether those meteors are blocks or normal magic projectiles doesnt really matter, i just want them to explode on impact
Ive only got the base mod tho and i dont have any idea how i would do it or if its even possible with the base version.

I only have the base mod version with no addons so i cant use the propagate arc

I have no idea how to include an explosion, since any effects like get lost if the moving block is made static

Having only access to the base mod really limits what you can do. Propagate spells like Arch can be used to do this, but since you don't have Elemental or any of the kind, it does pose a major problem.

Best I can say is fly up and shoot split projectiles that explode down lol

But you could make a spell that places, lights, and throws tnt, no?

It would be directly worse than explosion for basically everything
