Like a truly perfect homing proj kinda. Idk if you play that mod iron spells and spells book I think it’s called. They have like a wisp spell. They target the player and then the wisp paths for it after it’s done targeting. It takes like 3 seconds for casting to be done. I think something like that would be cool. You can target a projectile to someone after a casting time or some sort 🙂
summoning an entity that chases the player and "detonates" it's spell on the enemy would be kind of cool
Or maybe a subform that spawns a mob that applies the spell contents on its attacks
Yeah^^^ I really like that and they could also add maybe a little wisp or creature thing to go heal a teammate if you add heal afterwards.
The targeting is the iffy part. I'm not sure how you'd tell the spell to target an enemy vs a player
Unless it just always looks for the nearest mob no matter what... which could lead to some pretty bad accidents i think lol
I’m not sure, I know iron spells and spells books has it highlighted. So you know who you are about to target so that could be a thing. Or maybe the filters as well
I haven't played iron's yet. You look at something to determine the target of the wisp? yeah the filters could prob do it, but it would need to be usable in the base mod for us to add it
Yeah you look at the player or enemy and they are highlighted so you know you’re on them and then it targets them

ya i think this would be cool, and anything to give the conjuration school more love is nice
Even just make the whistle or smth
And use that to direct summons
So you can apply the wisp idea + hold target, with two items but at least it doesn't require a hold-cast system
(Talking about the old idea of a way to control summons aggro)
I could imagine this summoning a vex or allay that can pass through walls and agros on the targeted player.
The targeting could be done somewhat easily, by summoning a fast and invisible projectile or ray.
When it hits an entity it would summon the wisp (which would agro the attacked entity).
In the case that it hits a block, a custom projectile in the shape of the wisp could be shot
After hitting the target it would be very pleasing if it could vanish like wild starbies when you give them gold
i think the point of this is not having to hit the enemy directly at all so that a spell entity can then chase after them
I meant more as a mechanic, a system to enable targeting. To the player it would look as if they only summoned the wisp
