Oh, the more I think about that silly blink trap with a hidden turret casting


the worse it gets.
Now I envision a sculkified Ars Additions set piece with just a chest up on some throne of archwood.
Redstone to sense if the single scroll in the chest is ever removed.
So the clever could swap in an item and pull out the scroll.
The unwary would grab the Explorers Scroll and promptly appear in the mids of an Ancient City.
And that's even worse. Now I'm gonna have nightmares about mimcs and Ars chests.
Although that is still a cool idea.
A chest that casts a speed spell on a starbuncle everytime it opens it.
Or even just teleports the 'buncle to the target chest.
Gotta work with lootr so it looks the same

IDK why I keep comming back to this The Witchcraft world to work on this bloody minecolony. But I found a barbaian camp from minecolony that integrated directly into an Explorer portal. So it looks perfectly like they build the thing around it.
It mainly seems that minecolonies structures seem to be ignoring other mods' structure placement.

I vaguely and most likely incorrectly remember testing remotes in 1.19 on Arcane Isles. I have multiple lecterns that I would connect to with my enchanter's eye using scry scrolls that pointed at the non-main lectern's eye.
I thought that the remote might have been honoring them, but doesn't look like it.
For instance, I had a dedicated lectern in my kitchen for all the Cooking for Blockheads storage.

What's a source spawner

Form Glyph idea, Conjure Magetool, creates a temporary tool inscribed with the remainder of the spell. The tools have the durability of gold tools but can be customised with augments. Tools have a cooldown based on the casters mana regen, and while the tool exists it reserves the mana cost from the caster

How would you decide the type of tool you summon? Would following with the break effect summon a pickaxe for example?

Main reason why I never attempted is the mess with tracking items in inventory
I already have that due to Reliquaries, so it's making more use of the existing mess

Advanced Dominion Wand allows you to lock either your first position/entity or your second position/entity
For linking lots of chests to a Storage Lectern, you'd store the lectern position, and set it to lock second, then you can click all your chests to link them without going back and forth to the Storage Lectern

Went about 100 blocks north and found one on the very edge of the command's limit.
Though I usually get them pretty close to spawn
And have spawned on top of them a few times.

The first time I attempted to use the advanced dominion wand, it just wouldn't work. I tried a dozen times to link a repository to a lecturn, nothing happened. I finally threw that wand away and tried with the normal one. Then i got the message that the repository was more than 30 blocks away ๐ I think the advanced wand needs some more feedback messages.
Are you on 1.21? I think a recent update may have broken it

Each reliquary can hold one mark, but they're an item, so you can have multiple reliquaries

If you store an entity, say a starby, you can link it to many storage without having to store the starby after every link

My most frequent use case for the advanced dominion wand is to just keep a Splitter Relay on "Locked First" so I can use the same wand to have the splitter send source to any new source-requiring-block I put down
I'm not sure it matters; you can switch between locked first and locked second even after binding it to something
But just in case, I always select which "locked" I want first then bind afterward

All because I play left handed at home, I cannot use it. If I swap to right handed, the wand works.

The remote should work fine.
It's not unusual. 10% of the general population is left handed. With up to 60% of people in creative fields.
So right handed people rarely test their stuff in a left handed config. They won't even notice when they've hard-coded keys for stuff like that.
Hexerei's brooms used to be completely useless to me because of that. Then JoeFoxe finally got around to fixing the binds. The wand has the same problem, though.
The keybinds are secretly right-handed-player-only.
well im fairly sure i dont have any custom binds so you should be good on that front
you might have to rebind your radial wheel to something more comfortable for you but im sure you already do that

How do Source Spawners work? I can't find documentation ingame or on the mod page
Place spawner. Place jar of source nearby. Put down a containment jar with creature you want to spawn.
There are rules beyond that. No NBT is handled so you get a basic and generic version of the creature type.
Additionally, if you spawn a tamed mob the spawns will NOT be tamed to you.
For some modded creatures like Occultism familiars, this means they are untamable and possibly hostile.
Imagine spawning 500 Bumblezone Sentry Watchers and scattering them around the server >:3
I was using them to mass spawn untamed owls for people to get started with a Hexerei-based mail system on the Ars Test server.
Discovered that creatures without wild versions do really really strange things. Wixies and Bookwyrms turn into their tokens. Some other things just poof on spawn.
Like animated blocks - those don't duplicate blocks but just make little clouds of nothing.
reminds me of why carry on is limited in most servers lol
If I decide to use a Warp Index from Ars Additions or a Haversack or anything like that to remotely deposit to my Lectern storage system, does the destination need to be chunkloaded?
Yes, if you don't have a chunkloading mod, you can go into the ars additions config and enable the ritual of arcane Permanence
there's a Touch-Break-Smelt-Item Pickup spell turret in the Arcane Library, but it doesn't seem to actually smelt the cobblestone it's meant to break
Unfortunately the spell augments were updated in 1.21 but I haven't had a chance to update the spell yet

In 1.21 the advanced Dominion Wand is broken and will be rewritten

It allows you to lock a position or entity in the wand, and connect other items to that position or entity
Primary use case would be storing the position of a storage lectern
Setting it to lock second (because you connect the lectern second when linking an inventory)
And then you can just click each chest to link it instantly
Quite nice if you want to link 128 repositories to a lectern or 64 jars to a handful of splitters
Some 1.20 packs have an advanced wand that works with my flipped mouse, most don't. Depends on the specific mod version.
But if you are a "normal" right hand user even the 1.19 version works to do linking.

You apply a spell with [mark] it in to obtain a reliquary item. Then you can do things with it. Beyond that, I've not tried to use it.

That is kind of the inverse thing - turning mobs into source. But no, it's just a source and containment jar powered spawner. Has some very interesting behavior when used with different mobs.
From what I understand, mark is an effect, so projectile mark sets the reliquary target.
And then recall is a shape. So it's not like projectile recall or something. Just "recall place block" would set a block at that location if the reliquary was a block space

The staff has 5 slots instead of 10 like the spellbooks
The selling point of the staff would be a mana discount and more spell power
Staff shouldn't have a form already, so you can add all kinds of spells to it

- Longer spells
- Have to inscribe spells (can't make anything on the go like a spellbook)
- 5 slots as opposed to 10 of the spellbook
Those aren't drawbacks, they are minor inconveniences

Currently the plans are the Staff will have 5 extra glyph slots. It will only have 1 spell slot, and will be able to change it on the go.
You will also be unable to use the staff with anything in your offhand

(Technically fake players also have their own source pool, so Ars turrets and Create deployers can create separate source networks)

It's how mods interact with blocks and entities like they're a player, they use a fake player under the hood, which has it's own user ID, it doesn't actually exist as a player but it's what the actions are attributed to.

I avoided jarring any of the Dragon Mounts: Reborn dragons just because they might count as legitimate ender dragon variants. You cannot remove the ender dragon from the jar once captured. Which is less than useful for a flying mount.

Could. Won't I finished that modpack ages ago. Did lots of testing in creative in that pack due to the huge number of interacting magic mods.
Both the Animalistic and Dragon Mounts mods in Witch Hazel had really poor interaction with other mods. Ars Aditions stuff in particular. Use of a nexus, even from one distant location to another, could teleport all your pets to your location.
As the smallest one was still 5x5x8 blocks in size, this is an issue for your typical warp nexus.
Will this work? Apparently regular minecraft duration limit is 1'000'000 seconds, but if you are using the /effect command you can use infinite as duration, so I wondered if it would work for this too

The only way I could see balancing that for PvP is for a special reliqury that a player makes that is marked for themself only. The creation and giving to someone makes it that player's responsibility for the consequences of having said item in game.

Hello. Are you able to craft imbuement spell scrolls or do you have to find them as loot?
If you can craft them, how do you do it? I've been messing around with them in Creative and can't figure it out. The entry on them in the Ars book isn't very clear either.

Spellweave caps put at whatever the maximum registered thread slot is. If you have All The Arcanist Gear it should be tier 6

How the Spellweave Enchantment is meant to work? The higher the level the higher the new thread slot or the more slots it would provide?
I enchanted three diamond helmets with each level of the enchantment from I to III to see for myself, but seemingly all of them gain only one thread slot - in all the cases which is at level III

if you have an armor with thread slots you cannot enchant it with spellweave
so you cannot increse thread slots nor the thread level

I did apply this enchantment on a piece of gear that already have them with creative mode and it deleted two thread slots from the piece.
Grinding enchantment away did nothing - previously enchanted piece of gear did not regain it's thread slots at all.
I checked in survival if you even could do it as you said you can't... and no, it not possible in survival.
Also why Magebloom Carpet requires two blocks of Magebloom but gives only one Carpet in a recipe? All vanilla carpet recipe gives 3 of them as output.

How does the Wixie's Enchanting Apparatus work? I've given it source, a valid inventory (containing the items needed for enchanting) to pull from and a pedestal with the item I want to enchant.
I have also tried to just put the item I want enchanted in the wixie apparatus itself, nothing. I did that and had the required items for enchanting on pedestals within 1 block of the apparatus. Nothing works. What am I doing wrong or is this another 1.20.1 bug?

As with all Wixies, they want the output item on the pedestal, not the recipe. So you'll need to clear the pedestals and put a book of the enchantment you want to enchant

Ok, that works now. Thank you. But now I'm seeing a different issue. No matter what level of book I put on the pedestal, it only does the level 1 of that book. So I put a Sharpness 5 book as a test and I got back a Sharpness 1 axe.
I also tried to to turn a Sharpness 1 axe into a Sharpness 2. Nothing happens.
When you did sharpness 2, did you have all the correct ingredients?

so the plan at least was to create a kind of redstone stasis chamber, that could be remotely triggered to teleport someone home. Tried adding a pedestal with a stabilized warp scroll next to the spell turret, no effect still
Blink when shot from a turret doesn't do anything without a scroll. Recall just makes it target the reliquary instead of shooting a projectile
Got it working. For reference to anyone else running into this problem. If the spell turret is pulling a target from a reliquary. It also has to have the scroll be in the same inventory

I think you have to be in Creative to get the cannon to place entities captures with blockprints. But I've duped creatures into test worlds before when working with the Nexus of Seasons design.
how does mark and recall work?
Basically you need a reliquary in your offhand
When you cast the spell with mark where it lands (entity OR location) will be recorded in the reliquary until a spell with recall is cast. Then the spell will use up the reliquary to cast the spell with the entity or the location as the target

The source spawners will spawn a generic 'base' version of the mob, so no.
You cannot use them to cheese fancy armor or rare mob variants. You just get the basic mob of that type.
This is not intended, Source Spawners are supposed to copy NBT, minus a few things
The also spawn unowned so, some source spawned creatures are super deadly. Like Dragon Mounts.
I've not tried an Ice & Fire Dragon. That might be even more disasterous as they always have block breaking.

one that I'll need to confirm is that I think you can turn off the source cost with a redstone signal right now, the other is that I don't think it's respecting the requirement that the player who started it be online based on how many eggs I found in my base when I logged in
but also, it was so many eggs that they really should have despawned... it was one chicken and it was like 18 stacks of eggs on the floor
it also was in a chunk that shouldn't have been loaded by the ritual, since it's set to 1x1 on the server config
but also, this was in the Planarium, so dunno if that affects things..
yeah, can confirm that it doesn't care if the player is online, Crash Utilities has revealed someone else's ritual to me and I'm the only one online

and now I can confirm that applying a redstone signal to the brazier will only shut off the Source consumption
I suppose it makes sense the eggs persisted, as it was in one of the adjacent semi-ticking chunks? Where redstone works but entities aren't processed, that apparently means jarred chickens will spit out a bunch of eggs and they won't despawn

Are some mobs deny-listed by the source spawner? I'm playing with it in creative and it doesn't seem to want to spawn wilden chimeras or withers, but enderman work just fine, and wardens spawn but immediately dig back down (admittedly I got my sample warden with /summon warden, so its data might be wrong). I thought I saw that bosses can be spawned?
It may be a source supply issue; bosses take much more to spawn
I put down like 5 creative source jars, but maybe that wasn't enough. I'll litter the floor with them and see

How many unique tomes are there? I feel like i could think of some ideas but that number seems pretty important
Off the top of my head, what if the tome had a way to detect spells (maybe it could be a toggle by sneak clicking with the book in your hand, so its not constantly searching and causing TPS issues.)
Then you could put in your off hand.
If it detects you casting the same spell as it, youโve โmasteredโ the spell, and the tome is converted into a codex with the tier of the highest glyph in the spell. Or even cap the codex at T2 to prevent abusing the mechanic to farm T3 codexes.
If possible you could make it only available once per tome, per user. So then you can reward T3s without it being as exploitable. (But then you run into the issue of having a bunch of tomes in storage doing nothing but taking up space)
Gives you incentive to try out the tomes, and helps you learn spell crafting / glyph interactions all while rewarding you for your efforts
Another concept if the detection thing isnt possible would be placing the book on a lectern or on the scribes table and clicking on it with a scroll that has the same spell. Same outcome, just a dif approach.

I think the interaction of having to having unlocked difficult glyphs in order to get a glyph of the same tier is a bit redundant, and also locks most of the usecases behind tier 3 already.

It's two fold, firstly I'm not sure if I care about the problem of people not keeping a copy of the tomes. If people want to use a spell provided on the tome, they'll keep it, otherwise it'll sit in their storage doing nothing at all.
Secondly, if people have to craft the equivalent spell in the tome prior to harvesting/repurposing it, then they're already going to be crafting the glyphs that people use in spells, which means the codexes will only provide more obscure glyphs, which makes people care less about the mechanic
So a method that can be accomplished with a near empty spell book would be ideal?

Maybe? The initial idea behind the codex entries was to help people get into Ars, which the T1 does. I'd like to have the T2 and T3 make peoples lives easier and exist as a mechanic people want to interact with

A copy of Fireball on a lectern is actually a decent trap. Clicking on it instead of right clicking to pick up will detonate with the force of an End Crystal - but with a LOT more fire.
I lost a quarter of the Drygmy Den on the Ars patreon server to that very thing. All the jars. All the tames, huge hole in the grounds and structure.
Mind you, the Den is not a small building.

honestly it looks pretty good, my brain would personally prefer copy/paste to save/load but that's just a preference thing... other things i can think of like somehow automatically switching to load mode after saving would just end up causing more problems than it solves i think
I'm good with copy/paste, I'm also thinking of removing save/load and having just clear, if it's empty it copies, if it's full it pastes

what you have now has some protection for accidentally overwriting a turret(or more importantly a starbuncle tied to a ton of inventories) by forgetting to clear

Hi! Is it a known issue that the Charm charging recipe "crashes" with JEI? I've noticed it happening with and without more add-ons. Whenever I try to pull up the recipe it verbatim states that the recipe has crashed in the JEI screen.
No, but it could be a conflict with the recipe type being moved into saucelib now
It said to check the client logs and I did try to get them into a pastebin but it was super dense and I think it actually repeated itself a while so I wasn't sure what all to copy. Should I send it?

Upload your log file to mclo.gs so that people can help easier, not everyone is on their PC all the time and having a easily formatted searchable link is much easier for debugging.
Go to your instance or .minecraft folder and upload the logs/latest.log file
Crash reports can be found in your instance or .minecraft folder under the crash-reports sub-folder. This is only made when a crash is registered, so if it doesn't exist that's fine.
