#Uncrafting mechanic as a bridge between villagers and renewable ores

I don't think that diamond and nether quarz are currently obtainable by automation, but both are being sold indirectly by villagers: diamond tools/armor and nether quarz blocks. By having a (selective) uncrafting mechanic, this materials could become renewable by for example a ritual. If that is too messy in terms of loopholes, etc. perhaps restrict it to something like the tinkers smeltery, that can only smelt certain materials and takes durability into account?

The two you just mentioned could be crush recipes

I like the idea of uncrafting, I use Corail Recycler/Deconstruction Table all the time.
However, I would love to see a magical version too

Sounds like "stick to diamonds" with extra steps. Sell sticks to fletchers for an emerald each. Buy diamond armor from armorers for an emerald each. Crush it into diamonds

Doesn't create have crushing recipes for armors?

I would avoid anything and everything related to "uncrafting", because that in itself gets horribly overpowered and would be a gross gameplay mechanic. Let's not get 8 diamonds back from a diamond chestplate.

I also don't understand what you mean by the restricting it to the Tinker's Smeltery.

Like Alex said, a perfect solution would be to keep it as a crush recipe. crush amplify would be a perfect way to make it renewable!

Tinkers smeltery have recipes for all armors made by a compatible material and will give back a percentage of the material based on durability

But I don't think it "dynamically learn" the recipes from armors, they still are datapacked recipes.

which we got thanks to the tinkers smeltery. And ars nouveau is relatively similar to botania, in that it also allows a great deal of automation/renewable sources, especially paired with villagers
