The book doesn't look very sturdy for a fight. What about two-handed warstaff?
Craft: Dominion Wand + 2xArchwood.
Main Feature: can contain infinite number of spells (need some interface to quick select) but cannot create spells like book.
Add spells from spell book via Scribe's Table like for wand.
Right click on air = blocking as shield.
Right click on ars block/entity = as Dominion Wand.
Left click = cast a spell.
Left click with no mana = just hit.
Enchantments: mending, unbreaking, knockback (on block), mana boost, mana regen.
With mana boost/mana regen +3 should have effect like Archmage Book, without as Novice Book.

that infinite number of spells is really powerful though
Not so powerful but convenient. The book can cast infinite number of spells but it is boring to edit every time we need (for example) add/remove area effect or silk touch.
While it is certainly convenient I dont think your thinking of the number of PVP or PVE spells that can be stored, this is way too powerful if it contains infinite. Not to mention where would you store those spells on a warstaff?
They may be carved on the wood 🙂
There is no problem with some overpower but issue is convenience. Need frequently remove some to replace with other. 10 spells in the book is not enough for me. I need about 30-50. More is better. Even for some resource cost.
Everything needs to be balanced and your suggestion would probably severely break that balance. I mean with infinite spell slots you could make every possible spell in the entire game and just switch between those. And if you need more slots you can just make more books which is still perfectly convenient.
basically what he's saying is 10 slots isn't enough, he doesn't want a war staff he wants more slots
sounds about right
and since thats been talked about before and never happened this idea got cooked up. Ignoring the main feature and just accepting that wont happen with Enchanter's weapons, a warstaff isnt a particularly bad idea but I do not think it would be approved,
i think if a primary concept was made around a warstaff instead of an infinite spell slot weapon then there might be something there
I thought about more slots for spell and about unusable shield when book is in main hand, as result idea of warstaff. Compensation is it need book to be filled with spells so you cannot get tier 3 spells until get tier 3 book. I do not think it is overpowered thing because 10 spells is more than enough for PvP. Many spells are used during travelling or building... OK 3 books should be enough but less convenient.
Regardless of the features I doubt this will be added because there is no war staff in vanilla
Not that it's still current, but you can block with a spellbook in your main hand
I think a two handed warstaff as an upgrade to the casting wand could be cool - cant hold anything in your off hand and what not - but it doesn't make more sense for a staff to have more spells than a book. I mean, who knows how many pages are in the spellbook. We just so happen to only be allowed to write on 10 - but that's fine. I think of all the casting methods in ars, the spellbook would make the most sense to have the most spell slots.
