Something like the jars where it lines up with the block model.

It would be useful to make compact setups.

if the hit boxes follow the model you could interact wit the thing behind it. Now it is impossible to open a barrel behind a pedestal. with this change to make the hit boxes follow the model you could interact with the barrel.

You're talking about making the collision/interaction space of the narrower items (such as pedestals) narrower like torches or walls. That way, you can interact with things on the other side of them easier.

You want it to follow the precise space of the pedestal, instead of having the wider area they currently take.

Yeah I got what they meant, the only drawback afaik is that if you make a block "not full" then redstone stuff won't interact with it afaik
