I love how many of the ars items and blocks look! but sometimes I wish they werent as aggressively purple. Being able to dye things like the scribing table or enchanters sword would help more decoratively minded or rp heavy players like myself that want certain color palletes for their base or specific item colors that their character use.

"Aggressively purple". I'm going to steal this for future times where I have to describe Ars Nouveau.
This would definitely mean a lot of work for Gootastic as the artist behind AN and probably also a lot of work for Bailey. On the other hand, there's already lots of dyeable things in AN so there's a precedent?
Kinda like the idea, but I'm not the one who has to implement it either

That probably falls on the artistic choices of Goo

Using only the purple/gold/gray pallette

The purple and gold are very iconic to ars and I love them for that but to an overly particular art student who wants everything to match the idea of more customization is very exciting

there has been talk of customizable enchanter's stuff

#

the real trick would be if the enchanter tools turned the crystal into the color that the inscribed spell is set to, like the Mageblocks

I'm not against this, though exactly how this customization would work is a bit tricky. We might rework the enchanter's stuff in the future to allow for a more kit-of-parts system where I could see more visual customizability coming into play.

To implement it now, I suppose we could dye the gem itself, and leave the gold alone which is how we are handling armor.

I wonder how difficult it would be to change the enchanters tools, or really any of the geckolib stuff, with a resource pack. Because if you're artistically inclined, you could make your own resource pack

I've been gearing up to do a retexture of the ars trees actually !! But I wasnt sure how to retexture some of the items without overwriting the orginal textures and allowing players to acess both the orginal and custom dyed textures (if that makes sense ?)

#

(Part of my thought process for the idea was customization and personalization on a player to player basis in the context of a server)

#

yeah, customizing per player on a server definitely goes beyond a resource pack

Thank you! I've been eyeing it for awhile and I may start working on something after tree retextures

but with that method it's just a replace

yeah the purple really messes with my build pallet

Got it to work but the grayscale + tint is a bit ugly at the moment

#

Might be able to tweak the alpha to have a better color

static bison
#

this is the current situation, without grayscale but with the current texture

#

can't play with the alpha of the color or the item becomes transparent and glitch
