Going to be an annoyance again: What's a dark glyph, what's it supposed to do, what's the difference to the current glyphs?

uncut frigate

An enhancement of a common glyph

timber moon
#

That still doesn't explain anything.
How does it enhance it?

#

It's like me telling you: "Here, try some of my awesome dark bread I made!"
And you're like: "How's it different?"
Me: "It's enhanced!"
Still doesn't tell you that the secret is to use rye instead of wheat, if you get what I'm trying to say

Ok. That explains how the crafting for the glyph differs. But what's different in the effect? Is it cheaper? Does it behave differently? Why should I bother going to the deep dark for it?

uncut frigate
#

Enhancement makes sure to add more strength to the magic

visual tendon
#

So like the amplify glyph?

uncut frigate
#

Yes but pls strong

#

And dark

visual tendon
#

When you say dark, what would be dark about the spell?

uncut frigate
#

Like dark magic

uncut frigate
visual tendon
#

So you just want a glyph that changes the spell colour to black?

uncut frigate
#

Yes

#

And do pawer ti the magic

#

Magic

#

Power

timber moon
#

How should it add more power to conjure water? Add more water? Doesn't the aoe already do that?

uncut frigate

so basically all you want is either a modifier glyph like amplify only that it gives your spell projectiles a black color, or the possibility to pick black in the color picker

potent glade

something is not adding up you mean with dark magic to be more sinister like water turns into blood?

uncut frigate
#

Yes

potent glade
#

but you would need for that kind dark glyph literally make all combination because this meaning is so open you would need check every glyphs and write it down what it should do with dark glyph because this one is probably golden like those aoe modifiers

uncut frigate
#

Ok

timber moon
#

Probably Addon-Territory, too. Bailey & Goo are going for a wholesome happy magic theme, far as I know

potent glade
#

like idea not bad but you would need make work around it unless you make it own special colour in glyph menu like black border and patchouly book describe all its ability unless you will go small and add just little amout of effects because shift hover above glyph probably wouldnt be able hold all those combination and well blood was random idea because in biomes of plenty i saw it adds in one biome blood as real liquid in nether

#

and wee know very well if text is too long it will wll go under your screen

broken escarp
#

I smell opportunity for omega
but also, yikes, having it combine with everything is probably impossible

potent glade
#

its not like technically impossible but its very very time comsuming unless he want program it and be contributor to main addon

broken escarp
#

well not literally of course, but with how many glyphs there are, and the speed which they get added, and the fact you probably want compatibility with other addons, I'm not sure one dev could keep up with all the glyphs no matter what

I think this idea (Dark Magic) would be a set of glyphs (Ars Omega territory, for sure) with different effects, if it was done at all.
Blood conversion of water (not sure what the point is, beyond aesthetics), adding an unlockable "Dark" spell particle color (likely obsidian-type colors), etc. Omega is already a relatively "Dark" themed add-on (lots of Demonic), so it would be appropriate if added there.
As for the amplify of a "Dark" glyph, Ars already nerfed Amp to keep it from being too OP, but there's already an Amp2 and Amp3 in the book (in 1.18.2, anyway), so that's not even an issue.

In short, red water and a new spell color. Lol

broken escarp
#

I've concidered a corrupt glyph, and if I do add it I'll probably do more with it than just red water lol

uncut frigate
#

Thank you, I can't wait to try it

Just a side comment to help clarify: the only reason we don't already have dark particle effects is because our current particle system for spells doesn't support it. We'd need an entirely new way of displaying particles to achieve something like black.

I was thinking that maybe a darker pink/purple (like the non-black parts of the Obsidian block texture) would be more along the lines of what this did.
