I've found it translates Asian languages a bit better. It seems to be better at figuring out context rather than literal word for word translations.

the problem deepl has is, it doesnt discriminate between the different japanese writing types (kanji, hiragana) and more
but outside of that being the case, it uses mostly kanji and is pretty acurate

the last (and only) instance of doomsday featured difficulty far too high for the vast majority of players
and it does not scale with new states

Even if you are outmatched, you can still get first occupation points for territories and usually talk to other factions and make deals for territories right up to the end. Attack the footholds, not other players and try to get as far as you can. Just because you are small doesnt mean you cant do well.
As a new state it is about learning for a new event. The most anyone has done this is 2x previously. For most players - only once before.

Speaking from personal experience, we only have played it once and were matched with the biggest alliance in the game, and still came out with lots of rewards.

We're not bad players; we're already strong and very coordinated within the state. We have a group chat with the top five alliances, where everything important is communicated and forwarded to the alliances. So, should we make sure we have enough territories and avoid player fights for now?

My personal experience: if you are actually big enough to at least contribute to a lvl 4 stronghold, you'll get decent rewards. If you are so small, that you are stuck at lvl 2 or lower, then you are not getting squat from the event
about half of my (new back then) state were getting basically nothing due to being way too small for the event
while the bigs got really nice stuff
(players that are stuck doing gather/lairs only did not get enough personal rewards to buy 10 tavern coins from the shop)

I would start out by avoiding player fights personally as you try to figure out how your event will go. You may have them but a lot will be decided by the depth and organization in your state. If your state is its own faction (only 8 states in your entire grouping) you should figure out your R5 and officers ahead of time.
