I think it's personal preference really. If you have a lot of taxis it's hard for people to kill the proper percentage to win a battle right off the bat. Gives you a few extra chances to survive and they're cheap to train

Yes. Casualties are distributed proportionately to troop amounts. So if half your troops are taxis then half the wounded from a hit will be taxis, saving more of your real troops

Its an apples and oranges comparison if its different people. Try it in a pit with like 500k normal troops and 100k taxis vs 500k and 100k t1 secondary and have the same person hit you and look at the difference
