I almost always grab the design box because I'm addicting to crafting weapons but also feel like it's the most rare item out of the box. Weapon material box is probably a close second and a "guaranteed," yet small, stat increase.

I took it anyway. I don't mind throwing away fighter def. I'd rather have another offensive stat there. Nice boost to the hp stat though.
I'd rather throw away hp instead of def but their stars were the wrong way round.
Just waiting on another mod quest for showdown. Ideally I'll get troop atk. Even if I get 1-star troop atk I'll keep it and leave it until I have 4 locks on all my gear mods.

Hit point is how much health they have and defense is how much damage they can take. How it correlates to this game I'm not really sure

I don't know which is more effective but it seems def is more important since there's less sources of def overall.

Ended up with 5-star raid def. Not terrible since I do a lot of raiding during nuka and vc.
Went another 240-pt mod quest into another gear (2 tries at 15 boxes each plus some extra from the water shop) and managed to get a second frame with a conditional def stat (rally def) so at least it isn't a useless economy stat. I traded in 4-star scramble atk and that's fine by me since I no longer captain a tower during WK.
