I honestly don't like the new Nuka that much, but I really can't understand the whining. Weaker players are literally given chances to get boxes if lucky (still need not to be a weakling, but less than before) with the final rushes while in the meanwhile they can focus on gathering during the countdown. How is this bad for them? Also less tiles and less players on the map helps resuming the game from that PvE environment, which is normal in this WAR game in which people always want "NAP & growth"

Maybe the map that you were on had fewer players but on my farm's map, it seem like there were maybe twice the normal number of players and half the tiles. So every tile was being contested. The result being that few players getting the completion bonus and scores being lower by probably 40% so fewer players were hitting the 60k tier for the perfect frag. It's great that some players can now get boxes if they are lucky but is that worth the lower scores and hence lesser rewards for most other players? I'm not a fan of that tradeoff. But like you said, folks that like to fight probably love the added action and that's probably what PNS was going for with the changes.

It's very tough right now if there were no changes since last week. Even the level 1 and 2 ores were packed. Normally they're not.
I'm going to talk about the core concepts of the event as if it were not all messed up from the recent update.

The point of nuka is to gather ore from nodes and/or boxes to get points. Those points correspond to phase rewards that you can check in the event tab.
As a beginner or intermediate player, you want to gather in level 1-3 ores since the folks gathering them are around your power. In the before-fore times, there was an abundance of them.
When you finish gathering an ore, you get a bonus amount of points for doing so, I think it's 20%.
The goal is to get enough points to earn at least 1 perfect frag from phase rewards and some amount from rank rewards.
For more advanced players (those staying at hq 24/29/34 and getting stronger than average), you'll want to gather in level 4 ores where you might have to fight for them. If someone stronger than you wants your ore, they will take it. You want to keep an eye on them because if you get your ore stolen, they'll plunder some amount of it so you get less and they get more.
When you're even stronger, you can fight for ore boxes. Those give better than average points so you can start earning final phase rewards and get higher rank rewards. Currently this is all wacky because of very unpopular update.

There's some advanced strategy beyond that, but the basics is get ore, get points, get rewards.

I was hq 34 for over year because I liked the event so much. So it’s not like I’m unaware of how to play the event or manage my expectations. Not sure why they would mess with this event and not DR. There’s was absolutely nothing wrong with the way Nuka was before. Dead Rising is a snooze fest and boring. Why not rework that instead of something that is already working well. If the changes aren’t made my alliance will loose a lot of players including myself. Nuka is the 1 thing a lot of players look forward to because it’s a solo event. Now it’s just a battle royal. I’ll give it another few weeks to see if changes are made of not. Hi [GM], I have another feedback I'd like to pass on to you because I don't feel like our voices are being heard when contacting CS about it.

This is regarding the recent Nukaland changes.

I sent feedback the day after it was announced because on initial reading, we could tell there would be problems with them. Secondly, similar changes were made to Puzzles and Conquest and that proved to be a terrible change, so there is precedent to our complaints.

After having first-hand experience with that week's nuka, our fears were confirmed and the overwhelming feedback from every facet of players, from first-time players (there were a lot) to casual and intermediate players and most of the experienced, dedicated nukaland players (the ones at the top of their brackets intentionally staying at that HQ level), was that the changes were absolutely terrible.
Most new players said they'd never play the event again. Casual and intermediate players were not able to earn any rewards because there weren't enough level 1-3 ore nodes. Most of the experienced and dedicated players are very unhappy with the changes too. Some have decided to not continue playing the event. I've seen several players outright quit the game because nukaland was the only reason they played.

In short, we hate these changes and are anxiously awaiting at least the two principle complaints to be reverted (overcrowding/reduction of ores, and box timer change).

I popped into Nuka today with my 24, and I left after a minute. It was long enough to tell the tiles were substantially reduced - I’d say by at least half. It didn’t have anything to do with how many people were there because that seemed about normal. If event rewards are based on gathering, people have to be able to gather. Period. I know people like to go to get kills, that’s fine. You do you. But that’s not getting anyone rewards. This is definitely cutting out ftp. Again. I have three mains, all of which I spend in. I’m done spending and am one step closer to quitting. Everything has to be some long grind or thousands of dollars. There’s very little left in-between.

Well, after reading so many negative feedback, I finally went to play nuka after the changes and I have to be added to the crowd of disappointment! It has become more frustrating and gets me and a few others just that much closer to quitting. Please revert nuka to where it was, quit changing things for the worse and concentrate on making the game a better experience for the consumer!

Too much lag less nuka gathering mills and time difference on the one showed… I was sending to box my troop show me needed time for example 30 seconds the box to finish show 37 seconds and I was not reaching the box at all.. also do something with that march skins.. you can not tap nowhere even to return you troop back from a mill or to tap on box to send troops.. cause with new nuka you can see on box near 50- 100 line’s heading on it 😂

Those guys you talk about are indifferent to the change I'd bet. But honnestly, it's hard to send to the box without caring even if you're a monster. You can tank 1/2/3 dudes, but not more before you lose (from a % point of view)

I haven't changed my mind, it forces you to change your play style rather than just - spend money and send out marches to win. Now you have to be strategic: unless you're a megawhale: your 1st and 2nd may win a box - but what about your 3rd against someone's 1st. Also if you send out too early (or to the wrong box) - your 1st probably won't win after getting hit 5-6 times.

I'm in 29 tier now, so from my perspective - it would fix players in the 500M-600M from zeroing their troops within in the first 15-20 minutes. This is happened twice, a player of that range (but far weaker in personal might) - would send 2-3 marches and steal my Level 4 Ore. OK, by the 4th march I have to retreat - cause I'm down to 150K troops. But what did they gain? Nothing, cause now my full march is coming back.

It's every interesting to see a player that stubborn for a Level 4 Ore - did they think that I wouldn't notice and let it slide? But, without fail - some poor soul loses all their troops trying to steal Level 4 from players they clearly can't. Rather than take an extra 5 seconds to look at the owner of the ore before attacking.

I'm so confused, I'm not in a protected state (at least I don't think I am- immigration has been happening for a couple weeks, I'm in 650) and the HQ brackets have been non-existent for the last two weeks in nuka so it's just tons of level 30-40 HQs plundering every single ore for tile kills

Yeah, the concern wasn’t who was holding the box, it was the 87 other marches coming at the same time as me 🤣

I had the 5 for a bit, but messed up my timing trying to guess the countdown remaining with everyone overlapping it.

It actually helps you out - what I noticed was that people left points on the board (the +20% gain) because they would send 3+ marches to a box. I don't get greedy, I just have 2 marches. Level 1/2 - they both go out for a box. Level 3+, they go for the same box (with the weaker march going first).

Maybe the optimal strategy is to send your 2nd march early, and time it - so that your best march either gets to the box with 1s left or can reach the box with a 25% speedup. Too many people send out marches without accounting for march time and speedups - and ending up wasting the speedup cause it would get there too early or still doesn't get there in time.

Timing was hard. Every shooter and fighter has issues with accurate times from the march setting.

And I did end up speeding up slightly off and landed with 2 seconds left on the 5, which was definitely too early.

With the timer, and this is very hard to do, the best approach:

1. Let your march complete gathering of an ore (for the +20% extra reward).
2. Send 1 troop to learn the march time
3. Send a full march with less than 1s to spare equipped with Blast Grenade and Mammoth Shield.

This is generally what I do. But I have to sacrifice sometimes since the troops won't complete gathering until the box timer expires (i.e. recall 2 early - grab all the Grenades and Shields I can, then learn the march time).

You will find that it's better to have boxes that do not have the same march time close to you. You want them staggered by at least 5s to be able to react - select the box, the correct troops, send them to 1 box, and repeat. And then pray there isn't lag while doing so.

Nuka is still great. It encompasses the spirit of the game by battling and being strategic. Are there mismatches absolutely. Is every event on this game over crowded, yes. The tiles are equal to all. Stick in there and continue to gather. I’ve gone from top 40 to top 15 with the changes. It definitely is different, but is still a fun event. Nice thing is troops come home at the end.

Ideally Nuka matching would be might based not HQ based. An HQ that is 29 with 150 million might stands no chance against a 29 with billions. People pause their upgrades to stay in the lower tier event and decimate the opponents rather than battle on equal ground.

Another thing they can try with tiers is to remove the brackets. A buffed HQ24 might still have problems with a strong HQ29 or a mediocre HQ34.
