GC emulation is now fully optimized and Anbernic once sold that T618 chip as a " GC capable chip " when it isn't. If it can't even play GC as it was advertised 3 years ago , it also won't be able to reach the PS Vita today

Funny enough, that’s what I thought at first as well about 3 weeks ago. Then I tested it again on the rg505 just to see if it would need to stick with the old update, but it actually ran just about the same, only difference was that less of the games I tested had graphical issues.

Having played around with the older/better T618 devices that Anbernic's already made, I suspect he's either not into games where latency can be an issue or he didn't test such games. Typical 60 Hz-screen Android latency will mean this can never replace your PSP for such games. Something to consider if, say, you're a Project Diva fan.

None of the things I mentioned in the message you responded to are 16:9, all of those are 31:27(8:7 basically) if you are interested how 4:3 looks on them I can demonstrate since my DMG has the same exact screen. Whatever black bars you get are blended into black bezel perfectly because all of them are oleds so you never see any black bars even if you play GBA, the bars are not lit up unlike LCD screen would do

Dude there's still a void around the main gameplay area OLEDs can't fix this. This is why I don't play NES of any other Retro console on my Odin 2 Portal OLEDS don't erase the void around the image it just makes it less visible.

You're absolutely right. Though we all know the Anbernic strategy: design something reminiscent of a past device and play on the nostalgia of neophytes and gift-givers. And then there's the freaks who just collect all this stuff without much question.

I would argue that all of this can be harmful to our hobby, but that's a totally different discussion.

As for Russ, I find him and Techdweeb to be more on the positive and enthusiastic side of the spectrum, and I think he's trying to find positives. The specs aren't ideal for all PSP, sure. But it remains that it'll play a lot of PSP in a familiar form factor.

As I'd said elsewhere in this thread, I have a Vita 1k and to expand on that, I couldn't recommend the RG Vita for anyone else who does. In fact, I'd say if the price exceeds $100 shipped just about anyone is better off getting a Vita for build quality alone.
