#Anbernic RG477V
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
A flat vertical device is very uncomfortable imo
Especially with those sharp looking ass edges
Remove the cheeks , skinny is the way
Wouldn't happen on a plump device ill tell you that
Bro decided to write downrigt heresy today
Man now its gonna look fucking ridiculous.
The 406v plus the grip already made it look like the device was wearing pants
Imagine this thing
I was considering getting the RG406V but I have too many devices already. And another one about to arrive lol
It'd be my first device still deciding on 406v or 477v but v for sure 🗣️🗣️
Also deciding still but on other devices
First one? Like you don't have any yet?
Yes none at all raw dog
Lol
You guys are adding grips to the 406V ?
This is like if Jlo added sylicon
I joined this disc purely bc I was so excited about the 477 and then it dropped I had to see what everyone else was thinking
You wouldn't believe what I've seen on the Anbernic reddit
Technically speaking i also don't own any of these devices
At least the ones made for emulation. I've only got original hardware
You don't know what you're missing , such an amazing and fulfilling hobby full of premium high quality devices ( contains sarcasm )
Oh im not gonna be missing much
Im only buying one handheld from this space and dats it
I don't think you can go wrong with the RG406V TBH
I came for the pirating on nostagic formats and stayed for the RP Mortgage gate and now the Anbernic DS Gate
Then maybe wait for more details to come about the rg477v but on this retrogaming world there will always come a better device
I came into this space when I homebrewed my first device a year ago. Been here ever since.
Really enjoyed mine while i had it and regret selling it.
I am sure i will enjoy this new one too
Vertical + DMG + power = win
I don't think ill get the 477V unfortunately
I'd prefer a direct upgrade of the 406V
Preferably one with the BBL intact
Race power these handhelds is useless also imo
Get what makes you happy ( format ) and plays up until what you like
After the 477V i will be some good 2 years wihout buying anything
You can always get the Frankenstein that is about to arrive to my home soon: the R36T
And it has cheeks too lmao
Yeah thats where im at as well
Practically burned myself out considering specs, pricing, deals, competition, all for a device that can do the same thing as the others in its price range.
I'm tired boss
What are you looking for on a device and what you want to play?
I think they're getting too close to console prices for trading them every 3 months.
This 477V will give me GC / Wii / PS2 and a lot of Switch, it has years worth of gaming imo
I will only replace it when we get decent PS3 / Xbox emulation
PS2, GC, Wii. Preferably upscaled. Some android here and there. Switch isnt a priority but rather a bonus. I plan on homebrewing a Switch V1 in the future so just the possibility of some switch is good enough for me.
V or H?
Ive bounced between the 557, G2, RP6 etc.
H
Design wise I like the 557 the most. I even bought that goofy McDonald's case for it.
But its a hard sell
Then you have a lot of options https://retrocatalog.com/retro-handhelds?filters={"formFactor"%3A"Horizontal"%2C"operatingSystem"%3A"Android"%2C"ps2"%3Atrue%2C"wii"%3Atrue%2C"gamecube"%3Atrue%2C"aspectRatio"%3A"16%3A9"}
Browse our list of 240+ handhelds. See and compare full specifications, features and performance ratings. Use our filters to find the perfect handheld for you, and keep up to date with upcoming and newly released handhelds.
A very hard sell since there are other devices in and around its price range that can do all that id want out of the 557 but better
Not to mention just about all of those devices have snapdragon chips the 557 is so fried 💔
It's very hard to get just a device IMO. I wish I wouldn't have gotten so many lol
But most of Linux devices are kinda cheap so no big deal I guess
how far do you guys think we are from ps3 vert emu 👀 or switch
i think that would be my end game
i got to play demon souls when it was on psn when i was younger and little big planet
chunky vert that can play ps3 / switch and below library 🤤
Idk about lbp but you might be a bit surprised
00:00:00 ANBERNIC RG477M arrives!00:00:42 Stream start00:02:40 Demon's Souls (PS3)00:15:21 Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3)00:23:10 Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (PS3)00...
This was with the same 8300 the 477V will have. You might be screwed when it comes to Switch tho
Generally speaking PS3 emulation is still in its infancy but so far it doesnt seem too bad.
Just to jump in, I preferr my verts cheekless
Grips are only needed if it's too stumpy to hold onto (looking at you rp classic)
Otherwise I much prefer positioning my hands where I find it most comfortable when a device is narrow and I have to put them close together
Cheeks is like cutting out the middle of a controller and squishing the two grips together when it's this narrow
Love the rg40xx v ergonomics. If it's similar, should be a winner from my standpoint
Not sure about the all glass front tho
yeah I'm concerned this is gonna be heavy
the 476h is already a little heavy and this is larger
Yeah. Hard to say. Glass front but the rest is mostly plastic. Maybe like Ayn thor weight wise
I'm just expecting it to be roughly as dense as the 476h but larger = heavier
Everything from this era will have a glass front i believe , at least the higher end chips. These companies want the handhelds from this branch to look premium ...
Let's see when this will come out , mind that the DS wasn't even shipped yet lol
I wouldn’t exactly call the T820 or D8300 a high end chip
D8300 is more high end than most besides SD CPUs so still high end
Very low high end.
T820 is mid range , D8300 is high end , it's more powerful than the SD865
The gpu is pretty beefy
I mean... technically T820 is pretty low end in the current market, D8300 is mid range and stuff like the G3 Gen3 and 8 Elite are high end
Compare to the exynos trash
in my book anything that does the totality of GC/PS2 with no compromises is high end
so that would include the d8300
fair
The T820 is still cool imo but yes these things expire fast in this market.
One cool thing is that it was the real entry of GC / Wii on the broader handheld scene. If i'm not mistaken the T820 was used in one of the Odin 1 handhelds.
I thought the Odin 1 had either SD845 or D900
Odin lite has d900
t820 is iirc only in the RG 006 devices
Odin 1 uses SD845
Odin Lite has D900, like the RP4
yeah, it was the sd845 in the Odin 1 the first real competent GC/PS2 chip in handhelds, albeit not without compromises
was a pretty major breakthrough at the time
t820 we have only seen in Anbernic devices and much later than the Odin 1
Solid for sure. I would have taken a T820. That said I don't mind the power behind 8300 either
It could ... Cuphead , all the Shantae Games , Overcooked , Luigi's Mansion 2 , Blasphemous , Tails of Iron ...
It plays a lot of good indie stuff .
Neither have driver support so the D8300 would be an improvement for more Switch Games
It surely is for upscaled GC / Wii and PS2
I need to check how this chip behaves with WiiU
The dimensity 8300 plays a good chunk of switch on it
What it doesn’t play feels foolish for it to not
But that’s driver support
We will only get the announcement once the cursed RG DS is out of that gate , that thing is delaying my chonki vertical goodness
now imagine some frustrated gamer just hack that MediaTek for the juicy code and spread it to open sea
I wish we’d get drivers for dimensity
Great video showing what we should expect for some Switch games
👉 In this video, we make a return to Nintendo Switch emulation using the latest version of the Eden emulator as well as exploring the capabilities of the Mediatek Dimensity 8300 and the new Anbernic RG477M (and RG557). The results are better than expected with the combination of Eden and the Dimensity 8300. We will explore more than 30 games ...
What are these caps Ryan is using on the 477M , they look cool on it
hypestix
Thanks
hypestix are cool , made by @pastel fossil
It's over 😔 No chonki cheekless handheld this year
wdym
wtf u mean
did they can it
Oh absolutely! I had a 477m previous to my ayn Thor so I’m absolutely familiar
Just really is held back by the lack of drivers is all
how likely would it be wed see drivers for this chip soon
👀
did they cancel the 477v
I am joking lol
We may see once the DS starts shipping
No it’s just unlikely to ship this year
Because of the rgds
They won't kill the already dead hype of the DS with this
And yes , i hate the DS even more now lol
i think i will jus snag a 406v and gift it to my partner when they decide to release the 477v
😔
Did you like it ? I am considering getting one
It's a good handheld too , i had one
Gamehub did post this a while back, no word on when they expect them to be released though
I loved my 477m, but it
Was my first premium device. It really starts to show its “anbernic” traits when compared to the Thor or an ayaneo product
My thoughts as well. The glass front might feel really nice. Should only be about 0.56" wider, based on the screen sizes, so it's that much larger.
I just bought my first Anbernic (476H) since the Rg505 and yeah.. I forgot how they treat Android with all their pre installed garbage.
It will be a game changer for that chip to have drivers
You know , i have a Flip2 but it's super unconfortable for me and i don't want clamshells anymore tbh. I wanted to buy something nice for Christmas but since all of the premium handhelds only exist on paper or don't ship i may get this one
Clamshells are convenient for on the go gaming but I find myself using horizontals if I’m going to be playing for more than 20-30 mins
And the constant fear the hinge will get damaged
I wanted a 477m bad... but I have an Odin2 so it was hard to swallow the cost.. So I gave in eventually and bought the 476H. I really like it's stacked shoulders way more than I thought I would fwiw. I'm glad I saved money and got the lesser handheld to be honest.
My Odin 2 can do all the heavy lifting, and the 476H can be the daily retro driver for dpad centric gaming.. Which honestly is most of what I like to do.
Ahh interesting I love and hate the Thor ergo
@icy lantern The T820 is quite good imo Great for GC and Wii , plus you get to play a bunch of Vita and Switch games too. No complains from me.
It's coming trust in the process
I wouldn't hold my breath for a December release at this point
expect it to be a January release
has anbernic ever confirmed this device exists at all?
Just in the group chat that max is active in
maxzhou confirmed this or some random dude from that group chat
because we've been there before 😏
Confirmed just like the T820 in the RG DS 👌
Even if max posted it its not confirmed until release, he was the one who posted "integer scaling" for the RG ds
Incoming the 476V
If they release this now it will be the final nail in the coffin of the RGDS , and that device is getting so much bad rep that it may even taint this one lol They will wait until January for this release

Nice, getting the retro gray
Both look nice. But yeah grey will be better for fingerprints 😅
Hopefully the grey wont have the bezel showing
the dpad upgrade looks slick lol
@icy lantern I trusted the process
Even though i am buying the gray one , that black looks super premium and elegant.
D-pad looks sleek but I feel like the lack of texturing is gonna make it a bit harder to use
I'd like the black more if the buttons didn't have coloured letters lol
If it's the same as the 556 then it's very good. I don't like textures on the dpad because it's a smudge magnet and hard to clean
This is the most premium looking Anbernic handheld so far, pretty much on par with Ayaneo
I think it's on par with the 476H
But that one was also comparable to Ayaneo
Especially because the Pocket S exists
That's a pretty looking device
it depends, I really like the Miyoo Flip dpad even though it's not textured
the plastic is slightly tacky and helps with grip
I like the look, but I'm still mixed on glass, one reason I liked the 405v design was because of how many hits it could take
eh sticks are still
but everything else does look very premium
Big boy
Thin bezel, probably same size as 406v
Endgame handheld for me , the start / select position is such an improvement from the 406V
I also considered that one pretty huge tbf lol
death to the oreo skittles
gimme gimme gimme
Any pics of retro on? Just to confirm no silly bezel showing
Not yet, but it shouldn't have the black border like the 476h unless they changed it in the final unit
That may kill the retro one for me if it does have that bezel
Ha called it @icy lantern
What's wrong with it?
Just not a fan of having a black border around my screen. Was most apparent on the 476H
Ohhh, I see now
It does kinda break the look huh
Usually I'm totally fine with black borders like that, but I genuinely agree that it makes the device not look as good
It must be because most glass front devices don't have borders like that around their screens
Yeah. I will get one or other. I ended up getting black 476H because of above. Hopefully this wont have that issue
It kind of defeats the purpose of having glass front.
that black border is required for the retro look
I was off by one
More like 10
Look at Anbernic dropping a new device when the corpse of the RGDS is still warm
Really thought they would wait until January. They want the DS buried and forgotten lol
477v has been revealed, let’s move on to the next
What’s the next model from Anbernic?
as usual, anbernic will be on holiday for at least 4 months
just like last year, had people very concern
are the asian hands tiny or is this thing super large?
Both
I'm waiting for the RG477SP
I prefer a 40SP with the 406 screen
RP Classic SP would be better but not sure Retroid would make that happen
They are probably going to be busy with RP6 and then the next RP Mini
I think they will let the clamshell thing cool off a little lol Maybe in 3 months we'll see it
Just realized there's only two colors for this
I don't think they've made a d8300 handheld with more than 2 so far
looks very nice
Oh wow its its beautiful 🥹
well I'll be damned
My only handheld its a RG406V and I love it! I'll buy this one for sure
fwiw I have that model and it's not really noticeable in real life, looks worse on videos/pics than it does when actually playing with it
I feel like it would grate on me over time
But get what you are saying
I got used to it real quick, stopped seeing it after like 5 minutes
I was hesitant about that colorway because of the bezel but the other two looked boring so I gambled, it paid off
welp, this ain't mine vertical.
I convinced myself that I didn't need anymore Anbernic handhelds until this acutely came out , have enough horizontal handhelds and time to vertical I just hope it's cheaper than the 477m because I thought that was kind of overpriced
That would make it more expensive than the 477M
D8300 devices need to stay around/below ~200, unless it's a DS
probably factored in RAM price hikes and their D8300 were too expensive from the get go
but $250-275 makes no sense, at least it would be insane if they do two models and the 8gb one starts at that range
You have devices with SD G2 gen 2 and 8g2 for around 220 onwards, and G2 gen 2 is similar in raw power with better compatibility.
I say everyone should not support Qualcomm so much, they're killing the industry, they just bought Arduino and likely to kill that soon
only anbernic seems to be able to resist Qualcomm so far
not for long .. given the ram mess
But Qualcomm has the best open source driver support and everyone else is closed tight restricting the OS you can run on their devices.
What’s the screen on it?
Damn it’s big
pocket g2 for 219 is already ahead of this thing in every way (except the screen size for 4:3 games). I feel like 219 is the upper limit for this handheld. 219 retail with 199 early bird.
No clue about ram prices though. I'm still waiting for the first company to announce price increases
Do you guys think this one will be a preorder or we'll be able to get it from Aliexpress in the normal way ?
No clue
I hope they don't adopt the preorder thing for their devices tbh
Agree not sure how big 4:3 content would look on the G2 screen but should be pretty similar.
Retroid should make a Vertical with G2 , they would kill everything in the Vertical space
Oled vertical
With their signature 16:9 5.5" screen
And add a hinge in the middle for comfort and screen protection
(chefs kiss)
They should include a symbol on the back as well, I think that would really bring the whole look together
Seems about right
Biiig
threw it in gimp and scaled to the rg476h
so we went from strong buttcheeks to inverted shinny tids
It's doing the best with what it's got
Wished it was smaller but oh well
The rpmini aspect ratio got me fucked up
Anbernic is mighty brave going bezelless with the grey one. Either they’ve got top tier QC or they won’t care about people getting misaligned screens
RP Mortgage *
Can’t wait for the mortgage screen RP Mini. Hopefully we will hear about it after RP6 ship.
I am curious to see it as well , i think they may release some interesting things next year. The RP6 is looking good ao far tbh Wish we had videos of it already.
So same height as r36max/plus/ultra
Pocket g2 has way worse stick layout tho
And it’s 60hz
Hey anybody can send a me a short clip of the screen using BFI and CRT beam
It's biiig! But I like the improved design
Pocket G2 will be irrelevant in a month when the RP6 start shipping. They only released that to make some money during the november and december gap.
It's better to wait for the RP6
unfortunately they decided the rp6 should also be a cramped rp5+ just like the g2 instead of the original design that added enough height and better speakers.
This is why you should never cave in to le public. They would have released it and people would buy it , end of it. In 2 days after the released you would already be reading " it's growing on me " , because this is the usual behavior
if they stick to their coward's path we're never going to get a better shell design for the retroid pocket ever again
the rp7 will just be the rp5+++, then the rp8 will be the rp5++++, forever
As a company you shouldn't have this proximity of the public with these type of decisions , it's a road of no return to entitlement and lack of innovation / terrible decisions.
The only proximity must be good customer service and it ends there
Give it a couple of months and we’ll get the RG DS mark II
It's gonna be a slick boi with the D8300.
No, I think they’ll use the T820 like everyone wanted
Or maybe not touch a clamshell ever again , anything can go with them tbh
I was certain they would showcase the 477V in January because of the DS but no lol
Dude. I wanted the new design so bad
There was something very retro about it
Buttons on the front reminded me of old receivers
Especially on the silver model
Nostalgia triggered 🤯
But i want the new handheld to look just like the old handheld and the G2 that came out 2 months before
Yeah man. When I first saw it I was like damn. That's awesome
Do you want to hate the whole thing even more ? If it wasn't for the design change it would probably ship this month
i loved this design, reminded me of an old sony tv we had
yeah I would've bought this
the 'new' design is a hard pass
I wouldn’t have an won’t buy either design
I already have an rp5, the psp style design fixed the complaints I have with it, the new design re-added them

The RP5 covers pretty much every retro emulation ceiling we've been craving for years ( GC, Wii , PS2 , 3DS ,) , power racing these devices is a bit useless because PS3 emulation is very far away and Xbox 360 doesn't exist. Unless you want to push for a bit more performance in PC emulation both the RP5 and that D8300 series by Anbernic do the job.
I'm pretty sure it was always scheduled to ship January
The CEO likes to guilty trip people so there's this possibility too
Can't unsee 🤓 , the buttons on the bottom weren't bad but they should've been smaller and not so close together, would look more like a psp
Yeah. Who is even doing a psp now? Isn't powkiddy planning one
Yeah. But I didn't necessarily want a psp clone. I liked that it was finally a unique take
isn't that the rp6
Hopefully with OLED
Don't worry chief. We got you when anything new finally drops
no I mean, you are asking for an Odin 3 Mini, but the rp6 is right there
what would an Odin 3 Mini do other than the chip
Well the chip is the draw
Also if they can keep the design language from the Odin 2 mini it will be perfect
Beautiful device and still very relevant imo
Sucks they canceled it so suddenly, can't even buy it anymore
be actually psp/vita shaped
like the rp6 was supposed to be
Everything that is good gets axed.
If the RP6 had that format with some new colors i'd be more than glad
Yeah. Chip and OLED is kinda the point
In a PSP body which people love
But yeah. Both the G2 and RP6 fell flat for me
Nice for anyone who hasn't already owned and sold an rp5
Yeah i though i'd be all over it but it didn't sparkle my interest either.
I will get the 477V because i like verticals and i have a 35xx to play GBA and PS1 , after this i'll only get a new handheld when PS3 emulation is a reality
Yeah. This is surprisingly interesting to me. Their 4.7" is super nice. And the only other vert on the horizon is Ayaneo's. And you know that thing is gonna be 💸 💸 💸
The vert is as fugly as the 406/407V
Eh. I've seen worse. Like daily. All the rk ewaste
It could be toaster shaped. If it feels better than RP classic in hand I'll buy it
The ugliest handheld they ever released was the 406V with those awful colors and cheeks and the first prize goes to the 556/557 , that thing is hideous
407V uses the same shells
I have a beef with that screen format on the RP classic
No , it's not as fat.
The 406V was thicc
Still fugly as shit
Nah , you just hating
406v shape was made for the real ones
Well he can buy the Ayaneo vert for $500
My guy , they could release a Ryzen handheld and people would still bitch about it lol
That's why these company owners shouldn't care about what le public says
jus my 2 cents
Weeeeeeell that can work
I think it would have worked for the RG DS
And mind you that nobody likes anything on the Internet , ever.
At least for me it would have
im reppin my team 😎
i am easily willing to pay $50 more to have a Ryzen Z1 Extreme on the 477V
This is the average customer of these things lol
Nah I'm happy with the 477V specs
But i want to pay $50 more to have the Ryzen in there
Suck it up chucklefuck
And they have to halt production to accomodate my aesthetic needs to a T
Even though i wasn't going to buy it anyway
It was tempting. I prolly would have skipped cause Thor but
Nah , the preorder thing tired me of it really quick and they clearly rushed it into the market because of the Ayaneo pocket air mini. But since Ayaneo hasn't even shipped that yet either they burned themselves for nothing lol
They're sweeping the DS under the carpet really quick now
Not tinfoil, it is what it is. Tons of handhelds came out last year and they didn't care because they didn't step into their XX line niche.
Ayaneo announces the Vert they announce that , which is better looking.
The vert is hideous
Yeah. Turns out when you crawl out of ewaste there's less demand and therefore more competition
I fell in love with the 476H on day one and I do not regret that purchase
Correct
They could care less about Kinhank or the Trimui SP , Kinhank will be forgotten in a week and the TSP doesn't affect them.
If I bought the RGDS then I definitely would have regretted that
That's why waiting for reviews is important
I will buy the 477 V only after reviews
The Thor is being solid though ?
I really think these issues with the hinges are more related on how people treat their handhelds tbh
I remember when the Powkiddy V90 came out and Retro Dodo was opening it from the bottom part lol
Yeah. My only complaint is the triggers they def went a weird direction with them. Other than that it's been a banger. And they're constantly bugfixing and adding new features
It's good cause with the rgds fiasco, poor Thor performance might have killed DS
I think triggers are the same as the Flip2 , i know what you mean they're sort of uncomfortable.
Anbernic burned itself with that DS , much better to have released one with the T820 from the start , it's not like people wouldn't buy it.
Same 😆
I had a turbografx handheld way back.
406v gives that sort of feel but 1000 times more useful.
Wow, I've never seen a TurboExpress in the wild but that must have been their inspiration
Especially with the rounded corners and the start/select button placement
The PC Engine was an underrated console , it had the best graphics of its generation imo
It was super rare in Europe but I remember seeing screenshots in magazines and thinking how awesome they looked. Should probably have a closer look
Yeah that thing was awesome at the time.
I was like 14. If you had any idea how many weeds I had to pull and lawns I had to mow to get the $ for that you’d go insane. It was 400 in 1990?
So I LOVE my 406v
*and thanks for checking that out
I really like my 406V but seeing that gives me a new appreciation for the design
Remember how grateful we were for these things also ? There was none of screen format this , clicky buttons that ... My grandfather gave me a GBC and it was literally the greatest thing ever for me , i also valued it because i knew how much work it was for him to get one for me.
Yeah we're so spoiled these days! I thought the same when I played the original Game Boy with its terrible screen - back then it was awesome and nobody even thought about how clicky the buttons were 😄
My friend from school had one during the time the GBC was all the rage , we didn't care 😄 It was a GB and it was awesome and we would be drooling over the Link's Awakening graphics
It still baffles me how that game fit into 512KB
I don’t love this design but I think keeping it like this would make sense for them given that they also released G2. If people prefer the RP5 design, they can pick G2 which is not a lot weaker in performance. As it stands G2 is irrelevant after RP6 comes out unless they drop the price further down.
G2 is for them to make quick $ during the RP6 time gap.
I mean they didn’t have to make that. RP5 will continue to sell. But it feels like they made it under contractual obligation with Qualcomm
I really don't know what happens with these companies and chip distributors. Anbernic seems to have a deal with Mediatek , which is close source but are willing to work with an emulation company ?
I don't mean to jinx it for you, but I'm still hoping it has a thin black bezel. I like how it frames the screen and makes games that aren't exactly 4:3 blend in better. I'm thinking both of GB/squareish systems and N64 games that had their own black frame around.
I kinda doubt they're actually working with mediatek on the custom driver
What i meant is that they must have a deal / license with them to buy that stuff in bulks and use it for emulation
The hope for custom drivers is that someone can unlock them like with the RP4 😆
Ah, I thought you meant Gamehub when you said "emulation company" haha
Ah nah haha
So do we know the price yet?
$333 with a $3 early bird discount?
/s
$200-$250
I am guessing $240 with that $10 discount thing they do on the first days
275 with a 15 dollar launch sale. Making it 260 before shipping.
Ram price increases and the fact they listened to market sentiment will make the price slightly higher than the 477m
I truly believe
lol no shot
Take the 8gb or 12gb 477m msrp depending on how much ram they give this and subtract $30 for not metal
Wasn’t the 476h $160-ish and the 477m was $220-ish (8gb)?
Shouldn’t this be somewhere in between those
lol good luck with that wish
This seems less relevant as the components used in these devices are usually EOL stuff. Not brand new
AI swept the market , these devices will get a price increase next year
I think this one and the RP6 may the last with the "yesterday's price"
AI bubble about to burst, imo
excuse that was outdated, more update here
Yeah that’s the floor and ceiling right there if this is 8gb
Implying they won't ride the price increasing wave tbh
There isn’t really a price increasing wave - the selling rate for consumer ram might be through the roof because nobody is making it but that doesn’t mean it’s actually selling at that price - motherboard purchases are already down 50% - consumers simply are not buying if the price is gonna be silly.
So anyway give it three months and either the ai bubble will pop or the entire economy will crash and burn because nobody is buying things anymore
This
ram contract already sold out for the next 18 months
Well then, sounds like the economy is going to crash
Even the pro economists can't time recessions to the month , nobody can't tbh
AI isn't replacing spending either , it's replacing where people spend ( cloud services for example )
If ram/storage prices weren't crazy, I would expect 200-210, but with how expensive everything is getting, I think 230-240 will be the price. I'm talking about an 8+128 option.
Imagine it comes out and it's 6+64GB
Another reason to hate AI , all these AI companies are hogging up all the RAM making them hard to get for regular folks and more expensive
Damn clankers
lol you think that was only $20-30 increase? cute
If you actually want to compare, check lpddr5 prices, not sodimm
I'm thinking a $30 increase for 8GB of phone lpddr5, yes
So, a $23 increase
That's before margins, i know i know
But they can raise prices later. Right now it's +$23 to the manufacturing cost
also NAND trend if anyone interested
There's actually a non-zero chance we're getting a 6+64GB on this thing lol
Most likely not, but still
so, buy samsung/sk stock?
I think you're like 2 years late to this party, but sure
here the full list for Ai doomers to short
CXMT is not listed yet but I'm rooting for it
on their website, yes, that's their main product for now
but at 5% market share and can't get those fancy neitherland's machines, I doubt they can scale faster
I think we're in the peak of dram insanity
Companies are just now raising prices due to memory, demand will slow down quickly, and the market will cool down. It won't go down to the summer 2025 level though.
as long as openAI hype keeps going up, this insanity will continue
what stock
OpenAI is not public yet
Nvidia stock works though lol
I still think prices will eventually come down as dram production by smaller companies will ramp up
I don't think demand slows down or AI hype peaks, but supply of dram will increase
what smaller companies?
the big 3 already own the whole market
the top 2 has a history of price fixing too
but that's what I mean, new companies are likely to emerge now to break that stronghold
and micron just bailed from consumer market
AI - making our lives better by increasing the prices of the things we actually want 😝
Can't wait to see how much people use AI when nobody can afford a computer. 🙃
I'm genuinely excited about the 477M
As much as I was for the RGDS
Probably gonna buy it
This thing is rocking a Dimensity D8300 with 128 gigabites of Ram making the RG477V an emulation beast
their end goal is for us all to be running 2gb ram thin clients off an allwinner a133p connecting to a data centre that has destroyed an entire city
"You will own nothing and be happy "
This reality is pretty much here already , it's just a bit bypassed because we can buy some shinny trinkets to keep the dopamine flowing.
I mean, they released a teaser trailer two days ago and we know all the specs, the next word will be when it goes on sale no?
😭
fiending brother for any scraps

ill continue camping these 477v vids
There is absolutely no way this thing will ship before Christmas.
Whoever wants one better make it a 2026 gift.
I can't wait to buy this and never use it
I thought it was a myth that people don't use the handheld after buying it
I had a 405v that I used for maybe a month and never again
I finished so many Sega / Snes games on my og 35XX
I am waiting for my 34XX to arrive to play a lot of GBA
Lol I was just looking at the 34xx, it started me on the rabbit whole that led here. Mind you, I have a brick, deck, and mobile controller. So I don't really need a new device. But big gameboy is big gameboy
The only game I finished on my og 35xx is the gbc Pokemon tcg game
I am sucker for the GB format , i need it to finish classic games lol
Now i need the GBA format to play GBA lol
Nah 4:3 is fine for GBA
Imo at least. Just use an overlay for the blank space
I will say, GBA games do look amazing on that screen
I mean thr console format in general lol The 34xx is a perfect GBA copy , it gives me an incentive to play through the library
I actually don't care about screen format. I played a lot Switch games on my 406V and i would stretch them to fit the whole screen , i love that format actually
GBA w/Dot shader looks incredible, can confirm.
I take it you haven't met @midnight perch yet
New pocket dmg is out, hmmm
That one is the most likely to play Witcher 3
We need custom drivers for mali gpus stat
it's the same DMG as before just a new silver colorway
Oh I know, just seems like it'll be more available
for what it's worth I've never felt like playing the Witcher 3 on it lol
I gotta do it for science
it's actually fine for most games other than FPSs which you wouldn't want to play on there anyway
but the screen is kinda smol for anything modern
Hopefully they post an unboxing video today ? 🤞
The RG477V is a flagship vertical Android handheld console featuring a sleek full-screen design. Available in two colors—black and retro gray—it features a 4.7-inch custom BOE display that utilizes LTPS IPS (low-temperature polycrystalline silicon) technology. With a 4:3 aspect ratio, a resolution of 1280x960, and support for a 120Hz refresh...
@sharp crown No black border on Retro, yay
This is the one then
❤️
You are fast ! I was about to post that video 😆😆
nice, it plays wukong
The DMG looks so nice
Which is better? this one or ayaneo pocket dmg?
This is cheaper and comes with 2 sticks for PS2/ GC / Wii and Switch
Pocket DMG beats this into submission
1 stick though
if you ain't playing twin stick games the trackpad is sufficient to move the camera
but yeah I guess they have both their advantages and disadvantages
Why would i buy a powerful SD device and not play twin stick games ?
Pocket DMG has more power and better compatibility
also OLED screen
and from what the 477V looks like ergo will be superior on the DMG too
while the 477V has the bigger 120hz screen and a 2nd stick
Like " The chip can play PC games but i can't play it because it's nerfed by the lack of the second stick "
you can always video out with it
and like the majority of 3D games don't make use of the 2nd stick like a damn ego shooter, so the trackpad is enough for what you reasonably do in them, even if not necessarily ideal
But i want to on the device lol
then do it
like this dude just stuck a touch screen stick on his trackpad, honestly works well enough if you need something more physical
it doesn't look retro at all, where is my back border? no sale!
Yeh
I'll be saving some money, I guess
Not a fan of vertical in general but this looks much better than that upcoming ayaneo pocket vert
literally everything looks better than that one
the Aya DMG remains the vertical goat but I've always felt the screen is a wee bit too small for anything that truly pushes the chip
okay for PS2/GC but I wouldn't want to do Gamehub on it
this having a big ass screen is enticing
I'm really feeling the black one the more I see it
Throw some custom playstation buttons on that and it's a perfect vertical PS2

Are you sure the 557, 477m, and the 477v have the same processor????
Yes
but that would imply reading and watching videos and shit
ain't nobody got time for that
Just give us the deets!
nerds and gamers can coexist without yelling nonsense at each other. if everyone knows what something is, they can talk about upper brain shit like aesthetics, color profiles, body material/shape, software, button pressure... ya know, what affects gaming more.
the weebs would like to have a word and will riot until we get anime girl backgrounds back
holy shit you're right. what happened to anime girl holding a ball of plasma as the starting background?
Best Anbernic background imo
Shame they didn't bring it back for the 557 and 477M
You can always just go get it: https://www.desktophut.com/PC-Ishtar-Fate-Stay-Night-QHD-Live-Wallpaper-Free
Marry me pookie
The gameplay video of the 477v makes me wish they would have switched the placement of the left stick and dpad
Makes more sense for what this device is good for
IMO
I'm more of a left stick top guy but stick top vertical is just wrong
I'm curious if these 4.7 inches 4:3 handhelds are large enough to hit the sweet spot for me of being able to play Doom or Smash TV with it. It's sort of possible for me with the RG40XXH but I have to pay almost as much attention to my hand placement strategy as the game itself.
If it was Linux I'd buy it in a second.
please no
big verticals are the one handheld style where we actually get proper dualshock layout
I mostly play my handheld while laying down, or close to it. I'm wondering if a vertical handheld could be a bit more ergonomic than horizontal if I had a pillow to rest it on a bit. Also the screen would be higher.
It seems impossible to know without having one for a few weeks.
I'm coming to the realization that the 4.7 inch of the RG447H might be the only device that is something like a pure upgrade over my RG40XXH in the sense that it's the same form factor, and is just a bit larger without changing it all up. It just has to be hugely superior for me.
The only question that I have is if the RG477V could be overall better for my use case than the RG447VH. Impossible to know.
for me the big thing is whether it's enough better than the 476h to justify an upgrade for me
and since I really don't care about ps2/gc and up on android I don't think it is even though I prefer verts
I'd really like Linux on these things. Although, Android might be quite a bit better since I last played with it on the Retroid Pocket Flip 1. I bought it used for $60 1.5 years ago and then just gave it away. There was just something kind of funky about Android. I much prefer how clean and console like that Emulation Station on Linux is. Also then I can SSH into the system, and I'm a programmer on Linux desktop. So obviously that is a pretty nice pleasure.
Linux on TSPS seems cool, but I don't think that it's hitting that ergonomic sweet spot that I'm looking for.
I guess I'm confused a bit. I'll have to watch some comparison videos. A few similar units have snuck through the pipeline since I was in the market.
for me it's not about arm linux vs arm android, it's that for higher end emulation the emulators are far better on x86 (or apple silicon I guess)
pcsx2 is so much better than anything on android, plus android has inherent input latency I can mitigate in retroarch with runahead but can't on ps2/gc
So I guess what I want actually is the RG 476H
That form factor seems ideal for me.
I guess that I'd need just enough CPU to be able to play some roguelikes on Switch.
the rg476h is probably the better device for most people
unless you absolutely, positively, definitely prefer verticals
Verticals are for people who were little kids when the Game Boy came out. For everyone else, horizontals. 🙃
if you're happy with docked mode running at a lower res, plenty of switch will run fine. undocked mode messes with compatibility, performance, and stability, for what i've found.
i need to redo my rg556 video of Hand of Fate 2 in docked mode, because it runs a lot smoother and doesn't crash at the end during the post-tutorial autosave.
hey, maybe 30 people are buying it for turboexpress nostalgia
This definitely looks interesting. I hope it's not over priced.
It’ll be more than the 476h and less than the 477m, not that big of a window
$220-230 probably
Do we know if it’s 8gb or 12gb yet?
It’ll be $20-$40 cheaper than the 477m sku with the same amount
Anbernic usually does $40 delta between metal and plastic on this tier of device but this might not be that big of a break because glass front instead
👀
sad panda
im looking forward to blinging out my 477v w a transparent case
will make up for grips and add sum shock hpoefully
cant wait 😭
Considering that 8/12GB ram prices went up ~$30 recently, I wouldn't even be surprised if it costs the same as 477M, maybe $10 cheaper
they're still selling the 477m without a price hike
I don't think the retro handheld market can sustain any higher prices, the whole market is already down so far from the peak a year or two ago
they'd be better off cutting the ram than hiking the price lol
Yeah cause they have stock of it, and they're going to do less discounts on 8/12GB models from now on. Manufacturers are definitely going to pass the price increase at some point
better off just not making retro handhelds with more than 4gb ram than making skus nobody will buy
4gb is plenty for basically everything you can emulate on android but switch and winlator
I think 90% of people don't need 8gb on their 4:3 handheld, even though it's nice to have. 477V will probably launch with 8gb, but anything priced below will launch with 4GB or less
Waiting for 406HS and 406VS with 4 gigs, next year for sure 😁
If they could get linux support on the t820 they’d only need 2gb
They're never getting linux on that chip. Rockchip/Allwinner support is a lot more likely
If ram shortages become the norm I can’t see unisoc/mediatek selling too many lower end android only chips given the $$$ saved by going Linux for embedded/IoT applications is now going to be that much more significant
So hopefully they get off their ass and start supporting their SoCs
Otherwise yeah they’ll just die and allwinner/rockchip will take over that space
I remember it saying on that Chinese poster that it would have both options just like the 477M at first
I think that was fanmade. They might do that but it would be odd given I think there was a pretty clear winner on the 477m (and it was 8gb)
I need the 12 gb version to play monster hunter rise
when you start playing 4:3-supported x86 titles, it matters a lot
all source engine games for instance have 800x600 and 640x480 modes and run pretty well on mali graphics
Well yes, that's why I said 90%, not 100
would be nice if these devices had ram expansion slots though. d8300 and t820 could use at least an extra 4-8gb of ram to max out the hardware. trilane/dual-channel would unhook the gpu.
(sighs in microstuttering Left 4 Dead)
What do you mean you can optmize the performance of your handheld instead of buying a new one ? - Max , probably
That's not an anbernic thing, that's just in general
only a few arm sbc's have modifiable memory
In fact, I think anbernic are the only ones who offered ram expansion in one of their handhelds
You already know what I'm talking about
yeah...
i just finished downloading a cracked backup of fullfat Dark Alliance 3 that i've been meaning to try out on it
wizards of the coast deleted it from all storefronts back in 2021
What would be the purpose of 12Gb for a 4:3 device ? Genuine question.
If your favorite PC games aren't aspect-locked but are high memory usage in gamehub.
the general recommendation with the rg477m was to get the 8gb one and ignore the 12gb, until Anbernic axed the 8gb model
so yeah
RIP
Nothing realistically from a use case standpoint
To charge more $$ from a retailer standpoint
anyone have more info on this? i am seriously considering buying this(hopefully not super expensive)
no, but we'll probably see more info drop this week
Considering it Anbernic it will probably be available for pre-order before the year is out.
most likely
Images an RGDS with these specs
That was the dream
Feel like this will probably be the last android handheld they release for a few months
sir this is Anbernic
we'll have an oval shape rg47 handheld next month
I think they should have shelves this release and put the specs into the RGDS
Or at least the T820
my guess is we'll see an attempt at budget 3DS next
just not sure what chip could possibly do 3DS on a budget
Okay, maybe one more, but then it's Chinese new year
T820 can do most of the 3ds library at 2x or above, if they kept the price at or below $200 it could work
my guess is that the t820 is not budget enough for Anbernic but yeah, that's the cheapest chip I can think of that does 3DS well
Leave my vertical alone , it doesn't have to suffer because of that cursed DS
Glass front and no checks, what a disgrace
Cheekles and slick just like the good Lord intended

It's not the vertical's fault that the DS came out nerfed
The Super RG DS is coming out next year anyway
In 5 months and it will be called RG3DS
The chronological order
1- RG477H in 3 months
2- In two months from that the RG3DS comes out with the T820
And the Rg558 with the dimensity 9400+
That will come out 3 months after we're all happy with the 477H , because Max doesn't want us to be happy and our angst is his currency
Can they release a more powerful Rg arc
No , because Sega fumbled the Dreamcast and allowed Nintendo to dominate the market. This is their punishment
god a 477 arc would be amazing
someone should just 3d print a grip that will add two buttons which press the shoulders
Just put a grip on an RP Classic if you want a new Arc.
The classic screen is nowhere near as good as this one, and also the classic doesn’t have a sega dish dpad
They dont need to use the d8300, it's gonna be way too pricy for a handheld that doesn't have stick
But the screen with that form factor would be amazing
t820 is too weak for full beetle core, so obviously the Sega lunatics want the d8300
imagine they finally make an arc 2 but it's also too weak for Saturn
It's miles better than the Arc one, which is what I was making the comparison to.
if they go 4.7" screen they'd have room for sticks tbh
it's not like it would be pocketable anyway
basically this old fan mockup but with a bigger screen (so less of a belly cut under the screen and a bit wider)
could go even wider than that to have proper dualshock layout for the controls
The OG Arc is kinda pushing it for pocketable anyway just due to the shape.
exactly
an arc pro with the 4.7" screen, nice controller-like ergo with proper stick inset, just make it as big as it needs to be to be perfect in every way other than 'pocketability' because that ship has long sailed
full m30 sized dpad, etc
like straight up add dualshock layout sticks to the m30, cut it in half, add 477 screen in the middle, 1000% would
Look ugly , can someone make a new mockup
Yeah you right , 4.7 inch means u will have space for sticks
just do this lol
Trust me , Anbernic will make something uglier than this 😆
A 6 button layout would be awesome
Interesting they haven't touched the game gear design yet
just add sticks to a sega nomad
the og arc was the size of an Odin 2 lol
They haven't touch the psp design too which is a miss opportunity imo
They'll make a 6 button 406A
barely in one dimension at the absolute largest point
I would love a 4:3 handheld that's actually the size of the odin 2 tbh
including width wise so we can actually get real dualshock layout on a horizontal for once.
high quality AI free mockup here
Anbernic can just copy the shell from that Nomad clone from AliExpress.
just go to the ymir discord and suggest an arm version
Anbernic ruined Christmas
The Grinch
No Christmas until the 477V is released
Release date info and reviews when ?
soon™
I wish retroid would make a competitor to this with joysticks and a snapdragon soc
Couldn't come soon enough tbh
agreed
Color Options: Black, Retro Gray
Design: Vertical borderless full-screen design
Display: 4.7-inch LTPS incell screen, OCA full lamination, multi-touch, resolution of 1280*960, supports a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz
CPU: Dimensity 8300 processor, high-efficiency 4nm process technology, 5G SoC chip
GPU: Mali-G615 MC6
Configuration: 8GB+128GB / 1...
8+128GB
DSP sound effects algorithms seem to be a new feature, so hopefully that means better speaker audio quality
Perhaps in 2 weeks on Aliexpress?
The vent looks a bit different too, probably for the better
Looks more slick than the previous models imo
They no longer using those special sticks they have on the rg557 in their other products?
the first vertical where they can show off a racing game that looks modern and it will actually play it
Props for using this game , one of my favorite GBA games ever
I don't think that'll happen, at least not on release anyway
8gb SKU has to be 180€ max tho
If Anbernic pulls that "8-gig version super-limited pwease buy the vastly more expensive one instead UwU" then we riot.
guaranteed it's above 200€
It’s max, he’s gonna make the thing he loves the most. Money
I'm guessing this video out means they are sending review units now
so probably releases just in time for Christmas
$250 8gb $300 12gb, calling it now
this specific form factor (humongous vertical) has virtually no competition so they can price it whatever they want
doa at those prices no way
that would be more than the 477m
No, sticks on the bottom is the objectively correct placement
And still not sure about that glass front too
Down firing speakers? How’s that gonna work on a vertical. Echo off the palms?
Maybe that’s the DSP audio effect mentioned in the specs

can we get some full frames off of this?
connect a usb data wire, open up the scrcpy console on a windows pc, type "scrcpy --record nameoffile.mp4", close window to end recording, then upload it to streamable or something
Max " Correct , that will be $250 , sir "
The 477M is $269, get real. It'll be $275
I'm pretty excited for this. I don't know why but I prefer playing games on a vertical device but want something that can mostly keep up with my Odin 2. This might finally be the device to scratch that itch.
Kitsune doesn't actually have one, this is footage from chinese sources, most probably Anbernic themselves
What are you guys playing on this thingy if you get it ?
My first games will be BOTW for the WiiU and Hades for the Switch
Witcher 3
God of War 2
I'm probably not getting this on release though, depending on the price
hallowknight, bloodstained, silent hill
Let's hope they don't fumble the price tbh
I'd like to get it and see how many 4:3 PC games I can get running. I streamed the Mass Effect series to the 405v and had a great time. Would be cool if I could eventually play the series directly on a device in this series
But also fortnite probably
I am excited to try some pc games on that chip , maybe older games like Halo Reach , Dead Space can run.
The only one
Don't overwork yourself dude
tbf this one probably won't require much work to adapt the 477m build
According to Anbernic rule, this one and the future 477H will be more fine tuned
Well that's like the one thing Anbernic has done consistently this year.
At least for their high end line.
So I'm not at all hopeful.
Worked alright on the RG406V, but who care about speakers ? Just use headphones if you want good sound quality
the 406v is passable but the audio is definitely worse than on my 476h that actually aims the speaker at you
"who cares about the optimal way to listen to things"
Although I guess handheld speakers are too small to really be amazing, it still matters though
i hope the downwards facing speakers wont be a problem but if it is i like handhelds w earbuds anyway
I wonder if Anbernic intends to sell this before Christmas
if so it should be up for ordering next week
well reviewers got their shipping notifications
that would make sense
I'm getting black
that's the correct color on this one imo
nothing against retro grey but black is a looker
Ok this is more comfortable than 406V, very solid so far. They might end the year strong
It's quite pretty
is that a new d-pad from them?
reminds me of the ayaneo ones
Vertical gang , we're winning
sounding very likely to be my first high end anbernic device
all the other ones had one or two flaws that made them close to perfect
Endgame for me
Do we know the price for this?
probably close to whatever the 477 costs, same screen and chip
hopefully they have an 8gb model, 12 is a lot more expensive
Why would u get this over rpg2 or rp6 then 🧐
big 4:3 screen
Format and at this point they all play pretty much the same things , the main difference being PC emulation
actually usable controls would be the big one
the rp5 shell is so cramped you basically can't use the abxy buttons without brushing against the right stick the whole time
fat gameboys like this or the 406v are the only handhelds I'm aware of other than the PS portal to actually have something approximating dualshock layout
Wonder what it's like playing switch games on a vertical
@wet shale about to empty my bank balance again. Another rice and peas month 😅
I'm surprised your bank still has any balance left
It’s hanging in there
Well time to learn instant transmission and go see @wet shale
Flat backs just keep winning 🫡
Wait do the select and start have leds
Played a lot on the 406V , it's fun ( for me ) , gives me a retro vibe .
Maybe it sucks!
They do! You can configure them independently
Quiet click
Thats pretty neat, is that a first for them?
Don't slander the V boi
So new start select and dpad entirely
Yeah this feels very premium in hands so far, flat back was the move all along
I didn't jive with the 405V or 406V in the end
I ordered one to compare though, will be here tomorrow. Hopefully in time for the podcast
Everytime i think i'm out ( DS ) , they pull me back in !
how do you feel between this one and the RG476H at a first glance? other than the difference in chip
On second thought, you didn't get black. So it's safe for now. @wet shale
Other than chip I prefer 476H because horizontal handheld, but this is the best vertical they've made as far as I can tell. Comfortable to use. Maybe by end of stream I'll have a different answer for you
The cult is strong with this one!
the 476h is so perfect if you don't mind the chipset - I only use android handhelds for RA systems so it's perfect
Yeah it looks really good
we need to take the shell, controls and everything and do custom boards with an 8g2
@wet shale They’ve added “built-in DSP sound effect algorithms.” Can you actually hear any improvement in speaker quality, or are there new system-wide custom EQ settings?
And is the fan noise as loud or high-pitched as the 477M?
Not as high pitched, just as loud
High quality audio mode confirmed
Under sound enhancements. Sounds good but built in speakers are like 477m. Plugging in headphones you can hear it better
Not bad, down firing speakers though so not amazing
Can you see what bluetooth codecs are supported?
maybe retroid won't be able to pretend they never promised a sequel to the RP mini
honestly, I have no real interest in any upcoming Retroid products whatsoever at the moment, the mortgage screen is no more than a running gag at this point
yeah, they ruined the rp6 and I don't know who would trust them with a flip 3 at this point
so a mini follow up is the only thing they have to offer while also being the least likely thing for them to actually deliver on
Ruined is a bit dramatic ngl
why would I need a Flip 3, haven't broken my Flip 2 yet and a Thor
nah, definitely ruined it
took what was supposed to be the rp6 and turned it into the rp5+
Change isn't inherently good, the new design was ugly
the old design is cramped as hell
and now they're never going to fix it
we'll be on the RP5+++++ and the right stick will still be way too close to the buttons
no problem just pop in a grip and off you go
the grip doesn't space out the controls
I had to buy tiny little baby stick caps that make the sticks way worse just to mostly fix the issue of them being too close to the abxy
that plus a grip just to make my rp5 mid ergo wise compared to my other handhelds doesn't exactly scream "you should buy the same shell again with a better chip"
yeah
maybe just buy an Odin 3 and replace the rp5 with that
close enough in size while having somewhat inset controls
the odin 3 has its own problems (the sd elite can't even do openGL properly so it has problems with n64, retroarch, psp...) but the odin 2 portal has been tempting me
it's too big tbh
at that size category you just grab a pc handheld with much better ergos and controls
I'm just waiting for them to make the odin 3 mini
with the thor, the g2 and the rp6 existing I can't imagine they'll be in a hurry to make an odin 3 mini
but they do have that 5.5inch 120hz panel that they'll probably want to stuff in more handhelds
chances are the odin 3 mini will probably just be the rp7
I would also be open to a thor elite
But I am curious to see where they're going to take the odin series, since the odin 3 kind of feels like the middle ground between all of the odin 2 designs
thor elite I see it happening next year, in the form of the Thortal
as long as they can find a good bottom screen for that
which normally should be the mortgage screen
but fucks knows if it exists or if Retroid conveniently decided to forget about it
Might've been the screen in the rp6
it's possible
nobody expected the rp6 to have a custom panel
(and tbh I don't think it was worth it but don't let the 120hz zealots hear that)
Ig they did specifically mention a new mini redesign so there's still a chance.
Also I can't believe that announcement was 9 months ago that's crazy
that's like 5 years in handhelds time
I doubt its actually custom
they probably just binned + overclocked the rp5 panel
retroid has another custom screen? Does the CEO has another house he can mortgage? where's the first mortgage screen btw?
Stubbs and Ban are here with a live unboxing and first look for the Anbernic RG477V, sent for review from Anbernic. With its massive 4.7-inch 4:3 display and the powerful Dimensity 8300 chipset, this is shaping up to be their best vertical handheld yet. Is it worth the upgrade from the 406V? Is it worth it over other options? Let's find out.
Sp...
I don't need this
good for you, I guess
it's past 2am and I will go to sleep
If only there was a white variant of the RG477V..
Or at least more than 2 colors to choose from..
us euro peasants always get shafted with the times Stubbs streams lol
Oh @deft lake, buddy old pal of mine. Let's see that black 477H please?
Someone said you got the black 477H... was I lied to?
I have a black 476H. I did a whole video on it
Damn
The 476H is the best little retro doodad
At lest they gave us a bezeless DMG this time , everyhing is either black or some off color like smoky purple ( brown )
I guess..
Low stability but not seeing a real world impact (yet)
Mario wonder had dips but we thought it was shaders caching still
It is
Left fan on strong, high cpu mode enabled
Another reviewer let me know to check this, their unit had a similar result
How is the pattern/graph of the loops score, like was the 800 just a bit drop for 1 loop then recover or something
It was happy until loop 10, which is why only the stress test is picking it up.
It stabilizes around 2000
Yeah holds steady
The 477m has slightly better results but not by a whole lot
The 557 has 99% stability
D8300 must just run very hot.
I love my 476h but I want my 4:3 to run ps2 🙁
Well, I would guess extended play sessions on high end stuff may see some performance dips eventually
I got to try the 477v and it feels really nice
It’s like an old school gameboy dmg
But lighter
👀
But, so far no negative real world impact in my testing, so far.
Also it’ll probably get GammaOs and system Wide shader
Let's hear from Russ, Rob, Zu and The Phawx
Zu and The Phawx should probably be a band name
Now if only they fix the compability and driver issues
That's the reviewer I made mention of, but didn't want to spoil his video if he hadn't said anything yet.
Maybe he hasn’t oops lol
I added a pinned comment about this to our livestream.
I think we need some long play tests with FPS counter going.
👍
That's just a dumb thing across all these dang dimensity chips.
Interesting maybe the heatsink is a lot thinner on the 477V compared the M
Might also contributed to the fact that fans were lower pitch than the M
Possibly lower fan curve and more aggressive power limits?
Looks like Gamma is already working on the 477v
We get drivers for the D8300
Max on the next day " We will start working with the D9500 for our next handhelds "
The ANBERNIC RG 477V is a powerful retro vertical handheld console equipped with the Dimensity 8300 processor. Whether you're playing retro emulator games (such as PS2, Wii U, PSV, 3DS) or currently popular large mobile games, as well as streaming AAA titles, it handles them all with ease. It features a custom 4.7-inch BOE display with a resolut...
9500 will be as expensive as 8 elite devices, so I kinda doubt that
