#GAMEMT EX8

Ohhhh
PS C:\Users\Gamma> adb shell wm size
Physical size: 1620x1080
after doing a bleak falls barrow run, i'm calling this thing's winlator performance at like... i5-4300m tier.
Sounds pretty accurate, love how the G99 can keep up with mid 2010s secondhand laptops
RP5 is about i5-8250u level if not a little better, might even be comparable to the win600
yeah it's pretty impressive. i'll probably tag on script extender with some quality of life mods next
btw I fixed the analog stick deadzone issue, now smooth
in tes5 that shows up as moving at half speed on diagonals and full speed for cardinals. it'll be interesting to try with modded Fallout 3 and State of Decay YOSE(with the shadow removal mod)
You using any optimisation mods or the like?
some ini tweaks borrowed from the win600 combined with stuff, yeah. i use bsaopt to repack any mod with a ton of loose files
what i should do is write another noshadows mod in tes5edit.
I think i know how to record with audio now. i'll just run the scrcpy feed through obs and spit it out uncompressed so quality isn't lost
Hell yeah
with my nolights mod, fps hovers between 38 and 50 fps. recording, it drops down between 16 and 30, because the g99 is compressing video on the fly. reminds me of when i used to play on an old i5-3320m
some bleak falls barrow running. be mindful, fps is about half of what it should be due to scrcpy. it naturally hovers on my current setup between 38 and 50 fps
i'll probably add Greentea to my load order later now that it supports skse. It adds a ton of QoL stuff.
https://www.patreon.com/posts/greentea-v1-3-2-27747981
i am happy now. it never drops beneath 30fps or passes 76% ram usage. Fallout 3 will be next.
For FO3, you will need the gog installer + winlatormali. For -modding-, you will need at least wrye bash, FOSE, and the anniversary patcher. I would suggest setting up your mods on a pc and moving them + your appdata/local/fallout3/ folder over to keep things simple:
https://fose.silverlock.org/
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24913
Mine left HK three days ago... hopefully will resurface state side soon
mine took forever to get through customs
Fantastic. Think it's coming through Jamaica NY
Wondered about Royibeila shipping. My MagicX orders were fast, 10 days to my house
I'm about 9 days into the Royibeila AliExpress store shipping
Most other stuff seems to take about two weeks
Thanks for this information sir. 🙏🥹
it almost feels like this is the new win600 chat.
What kind of performance you seeing playing the same game on the Win 600?
by default, it emulates switch and vita better due to the core count(which is kind of how t820 is). ps2 is a toss up based on if a game needs a decent gpu.(Killzone and Soul Caliber 3 for instance) It doesn't play pc games better, more than it plays them longer. I could put two hours of fallout 3 on the ex8, and it'll only be sitting at ~75% battery. on the win600, it will be dead or close to dead.
They're both very capable and very underdoggish.

royibeila selling it for 124usd with the coupon now
Not a bad price at all with everything goin up
usb-to-headphone, and cheap headset dongles do not work. 😕
i still have my bluetooth-to-headphone adapter from the Samsung s20fe phonegaming days though. it works pretty well
Hmmmm... Does this have USB to HDMI?
@dawn dune will it run GTA IV?
it should. there's so much footage of gta4 running on g99
Great
Was anybody able to get this for less than $120?
Eh now arriving late...maybe next week. Hopefully a review will drop by then.
did bleakfalls, slept in Oakwood after clearing out the wolf packs, came back to riverwood, did the Camilla Valerius romance quest for Amorous Adventures, walked over to Shriekwind Bastion, finished it, got to the ledge and...
- crash
- reload, go back to the ledge, seems fine, turn around to go back through the door, crash
- reload, go to ledge, enter map to fast-travel out, crash
- backtrack through shriekwind, make it back to Riverwood, go to LUcan to sell stuff, crash.
lol... It's been a good run i guess.
Best Deal on this?
No Shipping & No Tax
This is to the US
As of now this is the lowest cost EX8 you can get
BTW What's your impressions on this?
I haven't seen your review out yet . . . 🙂
I need this Handheld in my life so bad! 😭
It's just sitting in pending waiting for release lol
$125 about as low as I've seen. I got it a few bucks cheaper from their AE store with coins and coupons during the last sale.
Someone on reddit says they got it around $115
i think while it's valid to be afraid of gameMT, they partnered with Powkiddy's sidecompany Royibeila, so there's some room for hope with this and the ex5
I think it can be difficult to recommend GameMT devices over others but if you want what they are offering, their most recent releases are good value I think, and being slept on for being cheap/ugly when they still have decent specs for the price.
I think they hit their stride with the E5 Ultra and the EX8 in particular
They eeked out 6/128GB devices with good SoC at the tail end of 2025 before RAMpocalypse took full effect. That alone is desirable in the current market.
Be interesting to see where things go for GameMT going forward with new hardware in 2026
They sent me this. It's good actually. I think if they can get the price to $100 it would be perfect.
yeah. it's got all sorts of tinkerer potential
needs an hdmi out terribly
Ex8 should just ship with GOS nano and I’ll overpay for the privilege.
Ok got the EX8, just need the nano
Fwiw mine came with stick caps already on from the Royibeila AliExpress store
Looks Good
Mine's on the Way
Have Fun!
Hope you enjoy as well
EX8 and RG Vita Pro bros
how do you like the sticks? they have a neat springiness to them
Ok so unfortunately I have two gripes. One, my left stick is kinda janky. Like mildly defective. Right one is just fine, I do like it but the left is a little rough and noisy. Gets a little hung in a couple places. Might have to replace. Two, they need a lot of movement to register. The sensitivity seems off. I like the tension but the combination of height and actuation distance is taking some getting used to.
So I do like the stick that works well. Maybe the sensitivity can be fixed in software.
Where that dude at that replaced his sticks? Lol, let me buy them originals yo
At the very least I'll probably swap the left and right sticks if I find the courage to open this up
He said that hall sensors were too sensitive and put these back in.
Just seems like I have to move them quite a bit before anything happens, in game/menus/etc. Large zero area or something.
Getting used to them
Gamma may fix that
Do you have a link?
Yeah seems like it could. Sticks themselves are neat as you say.
Kinda bummed about the left one, stick lottery I guess. Easy fix though hopefully
Just annoying
Huh. It actually does play well.
https://aliexpress.com/item/1005011763535573.html
JF-15 is the right one. I ordered some but the linked seller won't ship them for weeks. So I replaced it with sticks from Magicx xu mini m.
Appreciate it 👍
Alright, I ordered 6 new JF-15 sticks.
Hopefully I'll get one or two that work perfectly lol
I had to get 2+2 to get free shipping so I went ahead and got another set from a different vendor.
Reg cap vs Odin 2 portal cap
If Gamma fixes the deadzone issues, these sticks with the AYN caps are lowkey fire
Well after playing a bit of Contra, the down on the dpad is just God awful
Might be the worst dpad I've ever used in that regard
Down is nearly non-existent, only diagonals
It's just feels bad too, there's so much rock to it. If it's supposed to be like this, that's terrible
No other direction has the same feel
Down sits on a fulcrum or something
Between grid based movement and precision platforming, this dpad is no bueno
Disappointing. Wonder if it's a bad unit or bad batch of parts.
Not sure. Nothing really seems defective but the down is just bad. Maybe it can be fixed.
I'll record a short video. It just seems like there's no way it should be so wobbly
Can anyone else comment that owns one about the D-pad ?
@dawn dune
There's a review here that I just started watching, second half appears to be all gameplay so I'm sure he'll mention it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWsbotYABH4

at first there was axis-drift, but i've broken mine in just doing inventory management in skyrim (and a lot of tekken/doa)
So yours was more or less the same?
At least it seems it can be broken in
i guess. the stick thing feels more like a calibration bug. if you boot it up and they aren't centered, they won't have 100% in all directions
you definitely feel that in skyrim. you'll load up and your turn/run speed will be slightly off on one axis
if gammacore comes with his typical calibration app, that's really all it needs
my thing is I sit it down, make sure sticks are straight, turn on, and i don't get that issue anymore
powkiddy dpad syndrome
Yeah just down though, it rocks so much
a square of stacked tape in the middle fixes it
Will try that
the membrane basically is touching too much metal down there
Yeah that's exactly what it feels like almost
Will try a tape mod when the new sticks come in
tape or foam mod keeps it from rocking so much.
I'll have to try that. Maybe this one is just not so great
Paint masterpiece depiction of how down feels on this dpad
If the contacts are circular, you can cover up the inner hemispheres and that should fix it. Gba used half circle contacts
Really cheap replacement boards have the same issue
Interesting, thank you!
lol this is now the handheld of degenerates and pc game pirates
one of the powkiddy guys i talk to
Will try GTA IV tomorrow if I have time
Good review. Makes me think my dpad is just poor luck of the draw. Oh well. I agree the sticks are pretty tall. And I don't mind the height as much as the sensitivity is off for me. I feel like I have to move them like 30% before they register an input.
Ergos are as expected, not the best but better than most would think.
I think the screen is amazing. I like the buttons. Even the shoulder buttons aren't the worst thing to use. Definitely more for tinkering and collecting than a primary device but still a good contender.
And the thing gets loud. I was just jamming out yesterday to OST
Going to see if I can get GTA IV running today if I have the time, the degenerates handheld heh
good performance, meh ergo. spot on
Yeah that's a really good review, agreed on all fronts
It's so close to being great though, the screen is such a good size
Any game that lets you remap controls can dodge the weird shoulder placement.
Very much a tinkerer's machine
Glad you all agree with my review lol
At this point any G99 is going to be a tinkerer's machine unless it's designed for a specific thing
Thanks Ban!
No problem
-
Does the D-Pad completely bottom out when pushing down the center?
-
Push down the Center of the D-Pad and pivot it to check the Pivot point.
i've played on so many controllers in my lifetime, i almost assume they come with some stiffness/dullness sensitivity issues and line up a whole field day of puzzle, racing, and fighting games to break them in. the new xbone controller that i now use as a main for laptop gaming came with really-really sensitive sticks and a touchy dpad, but now they've dulled down. wearing down the gears and softening up the membranes helps
i get the idea that if you're reviewing or collecting, you don't plan on putting 100+ hours on a handheld, so those issues never vanish over time.
I will say for grid-base movement in Advance Wars, which I have several hours into now, has gotten slightly better. Still false diagonals and those moments are frustrating but I feel like the d-pad has worked in a tiny bit. Trying to give it the benefit of the doubt.
I'll check on this later today
Psychological effects though, I feel like I'm focusing more on getting good dpad presses then I typically would. I'm using it when I don't necessarily need to just to work it in more.
the rg556 was way worse when it dropped. you couldn't play racing games on those sticks until they broke in. everything oversteered
the psychological aspect is swapping to keyboard controls in tekken 6 and realizing you're just really bad at combos and complex attacks lol
maybe because its age, but i remember being really good with Christie Montero.
I would be too if I had the chance
Who do you even contact if you have issues with GameMT devices? Royibeila? I replied to a YouTube video from GameMT channel about EX8 stock firmware, asking for E5 Ultra stock firmware. Someone responded. They would contact me once it was uploaded to their site. I don't know if Royibeila is going to host files for these devices soon?
Idk just need that GammaOS nano
Did it to my E5 Ultra and had to do it to the EX8. Best part, the pre-cut tape is an amazing fit for this device. I only had to do minor trimming, and to cut around the fan. Could be more centered but I'm good with 95%. Y'all need this grip.
Nice is this on Amazon
Yup. For DIY standard option: https://a.co/d/09vU8CGn
Getting great battery life. Going on 5 hours with Advance Wars and just hit 75%. No WiFi really and brightness at 25% or less. Shutting down in between gaming sessions.
that...doesn't sound right. even at low brightness & low load 20hours of SoT for a 4.8" display with a 5000mah battery is bonkers
Can you install Accubattery and get an idea of the current draw while playing GBA? That'll give you a much better idea of real SoT.
It would have to average 250ma to reach 20hours which would be -really- impressive for that display.
that's 1 watt for SoC, screen and sound.
I'd guess draw is closer to 4-500ma in-game, but 10 hours is still pretty impressive.
Yeah definitely need better metrics and standards
Full charge yesterday
So started at 100% before the 3 hr 31 minutes
Idk I'm no scientist. I'm sure it's not as good as it seems to me.
I just been noting the time I was playing since my full charge. Seems like I'm over 4 and 1/2 hours now
It's really impressive, but generally completely idle will bounce between 150-250ma at lowest screen brightness on any given device. GBA would keep at least 1 core above idle.
i'm curious to see how long you actually get out of it.
Yeah I'm not making any wild claims
nah, you got pictures to prove it
current readings would remove any doubt.
Just my observation, will work more on getting some tangible results
Yeah will see. Like you say doesn't really add up so will need some more time for testing
Initial impression is good so, I'll see where it goes from there
You know what needs to be tested on this, which crashes on t820? Killzone for PS2
while that downloads, i'm going to give it the ps2 motorstorm test i submitted the rgCube to. this is also streaming video over wifi, which is really low-latency. the pc recieving it has a triband antenna which helps
just a quick lap to show off general performance
still crashes in 3v3 deathmatch, but not nearly as fast as the t820. you actually get some time to frag!
Just hit 7 hours RetroArch screen time and battery at 58%. Rough unscientific observation today
Yup only GBA
Maybe I can get 12 hours?
Will see how things go
I don't know that it really makes much difference but for my late night and early morning gaming, I've been using the extra dim feature with the screen turned nearly as dim as it can possibly get.
Even at the lowest brightness, it's really just too bright for my personal use in near total darkness
yeah by default, the g99 uses less than 1w of power. specs say it can reach 5w, but i've only seen it cap at 3
10 hours at 29%
12.5 hours at 3%
GBA in RA
Low brightness, often extra dim. Very low volume. No Wi-Fi. Turned off in between gaming sessions.
That sounds about right. Speaks to decent software with a good panel. That's about as much as you could possibly expect from 5000mah. Rivals the Classic.
Good deal
I'm happy with it
Even 10 hours is great for me
So with 12 on ultra low settings, not bad
castle crashers, risk of rain, pizza possum, and battleblock theatre all run pretty well on this too if you stick to fexcore, dxvk 1.7.2, and 7-cores active
Castle Crashers
I ended up ordering this grip. I have other use cases for it if it doesn't work great.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/4398412465/universal-gaming-grip-for-horizontal
That's cool. I hadn't seen those before. I'm not much for grips but I like this idea.
Nice that it can fit a variety of handhelds
That is before the skin on your fingers get caught in between the industrial strength steel springs , this does look neat but also kind of sketchy, should of been some type of cover for the springs

Yeah a cover would be ideal
Well I was just trying to put an adjustable grip on my handheld and that's how I went blind in one eye
Yeah I'm curious with the springs and the air for fan. Maybe not ideal. That and the rubber band effect.
Let us know, we're counting on you
anyone have a link to purchase this on Taobao?
The Dpad definitely isn't great but I'll play some Megaman and see if I can break it in.
Hope it improves some
https://detail.1688.com/offer/1026762201672.html this is the official 1688 listing, no minimum order
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=1034309372994 here's one on taobao. i can't vouch for this seller but they have been around for a long time at least
700 CNY is a good deal that’s about $100 USD
Time to replace the stick
Ginfull from Mangmi and some K silvers from AliExpress
What is the one that came with it? Not ginfull? Thought it's similar to what is used in retroid/Ayn etc, at least the sticks (not necessarily the caps).
I believe the ones that are in there are k silver
Alright finished the campaign now I can open this thing up
i'm going to dig into Resident Evil Revelations in my downtime tomorrow since i work ~12 hours. #1 is on 3ds, and the second is on vita. both should run pretty well on this. fair warning though. each game is 4gb
skip 3ds. find a switch or pc copy of RER 1
good luck with the 3ds version. it -doesn't work- unless you already have a save file. i think you just spawn into a black room and death loop infinitely.
yeah... switch version runs pretty good at 360p with antialiasing. kinda weird because my rg556 doesn't run it that well. PC version is probably a different story
Some quick gameplay of the opening scene to show off performance.
Ok, I have the top part off and the screws out but man am I nervous pulling apart this front assembly
Think I need more tools
More picks
Taking a break to collect myself

https://github.com/pythonlover02/DXVK-Sarek/releases/tag/v1.12.0 This should bode well for the winlator on mediatek crowd
Any advice on getting this open? Seems kinda sketchy, I can't find where to enter from the sides or bottom
Just wandering in here and completely out of pocket I think a Tape-Mod on D-Pads is supposed to somewhat cover the contacts
Guess I should note that I swapped the left stick before I took this pic
Had to do the same thing on my RGB30
Put the square of electrical/kapton tape so that the inner segments of each contact are covered a bit
One sec
I just opened this up so I'll have to get some tape
Something like this, will help eliminate false diagonals and it also improved the feel of my RGB30 D-Pad
Personally I used black electrical tape as it's thicker which softens the D-Pad feel
Sweeet
Sorry just kinda wandered in here and threw my hat in to the ring
Thanks, got it open and sticks replaced like 15 minutes ago
I'm really intrigued by this device, even though it is totally surplus to my requirements... Must be that PowKiddy DNA coming through pulling me in
Must be
It's not terrible
Gonna get the usual GameMT hate for being ugly and weird looking but it's worth $125 I think
I mean, I do own a PAM
So I enjoy all things more or less
I think the aesthetic is a big plus personally
Seeing people turn their nose up at it is funny, it's cool and stands out!
I really like the white/purple one
How does it compare to the PAM?
Pretty much the same performance I believe?
Pretty similar but I think it's supposed to be OC'd. I believe you can eek out some performance that is closer to T820 in certain ways but the GPU in the g99 isn't so great
I'd probably get more personal use from tinkering with EX8 in Winlator and such vs the PAM. I didn't really plan to play PS2 on this anyway
The white one seems to have a blueish tint to the glass in some lighting. Seen some people talk about that. Purple and white is cool but the blue kinda makes the white look off idk
I'm not really a benchmark nerd. For me it sits kind of between the PAM and the 476h.
Good job man, happy to help
Well now I have a bit of the opposite problem but I think I can fix that pretty easily by making my square a bit smaller.
Eventually you'll make the dpad perfect
The GPU does need some babying for switch and wii-u games since it's two A57's and not four
I'll give it another 20 hours like I did with the stock setup
Ginfull stick a bit shorter though so that's cool
Have you checked the range of the sticks?
Is that not what I was doing in the video? Or should I use this app?
Sorry not sure what you mean
Oh sorry I just meant to ask whether the analog stick’s range of radius was full after replacing it with a Ginfull one and adjusting its height.
Just received mine, actually really like it, but the r2 "button" seems to be half broken, anyone else's unit like this out of the box? Normally I would take apart the unit and take a look at why its so loose/ hanging out of alignment, but with this one I have no intention of pulling the screen assembly / adhesive apart. I purchased from ali express so Im not very optomistic about customer service route and would rather just fix it myself somehow lol
I've not had any issues with R2 or the other shoulder buttons
Wait wut...pull the screen to access the shoulders?
Im trying to find a good tear down video but have not yet
All i know is to get to the internals you have to remove the whole screen assembly/adhesive, right?
Who the fuck engineered this thing, Audi?
My R2 is fine. My only small complaint was the dpad.
I have no video but I tore it down a couple weeks ago with pics
It's not quite as bad as it seems
There's no adhesive
So it’s all clips? On an all glass front panel? What a crazy implementation lol. Like give me 4 screw holes on the back please smh. You just ran a pick around the edge of the screen? Was there a specific place you found was best / easiest to get it started?
All clips. Most difficult part was figuring out where they were located. But yeah, the glass front kind of sits in a micro housing... And that disconnects from the main body. The only connection is the screen cable.
I didn't even look at the shoulder buttons tbh
So I'm not sure how you access/remove those
I think there's like seven main clips, two on each side and like three at the top. The bottom actually kind of just slides into the clips at an angle.
I suppose if you're familiar with doing small device repairs, it's not too bad. A bit anxiety inducing to begin with but I would do it again no hesitation.
most tablets are built the same way. some have extra screws under the kickstand, but they still do the clips & lip
I have not done a repair on a newer tablet but I have done several repairs on iPads in the past.
i peaked in mine a bit just to see. yeah it just kind of pops apart with a guitar pick
A Short Hike for switch runs pretty well on this. like... solid 60fps good
that makes me wonder how Hello Kitty Island Adventure and Dragon Quest Builders do
I still find it crazy that almost ages after that episode of South Park aired, someone actually made it a reality
(It's actually on my "to play" list; got it on sale for $24 or so a while ago)
(It's also a priority install for any handhelds that can run PC games I eventually get, heh. This kind of game seems like it's perfect for that form factor)
It runs pretty well. Made myself a weird little green cat
I'm gonna have to get this
yeah it's a very chill game about building friendships through quests and stuff
