the GCN layout works great on GCN because they games used the A button as the primary input, but to use it on an emulation handheld you may end up binding the buttons on an per game basis... like for some reason some games use fucking X or Y as the main action button even 😂

also, for anyone who wants the bottom DS screen to push up to the top of the bottom screen instead of being centered (smaller gap between top and bottom screen) and still retain proper 4:3 scaling, I had to set the bottom screen to unrestricted 1920:960. I know it makes no sense, but that's what worked

btw, you don't actually have to download the RobZombie files for the Steam games.

Just make a text file named whatever your game is named, and in the text file put only the Steam App ID. Then rename the text file from "game.txt" to "game.steam". Then put it in the steam folder in the roms folder.

Should work exactly the same.

I'm genuinely confused by people who find the device uncomfortable. It fits my hands perfectly. I've been resting my index fingers on the edge of L1/R1 and solidly on L2/R2 while using the dpad all day and it's been completely natural feeling to me.

I even broke my high score in bas on pico8 on the bottom screen while waiting for a long gamehub download using the dpad and holding the device as described above

That bar is also where you make per-app settings, so I'd recommend just turning transparency to 0 instead of turning it off entirely.

My Thor Purple Max was finally delivered today to California. 4PX took 15 days from pick up to deliver. Didn't have to pay any extra fee or tariffs. I was afraid I wouldn't like the color but I liked it quite a bit.
The pouch has AYN logo on it but the size seems generic for all AYN devices, it's big enough to easily fit Ayaneo DS so I'll have to find a smaller one for Thor.
Build quality seems quite good but gap between hinge is wider than I would've preferred. I guess I wouldn't notice it after few days.

So I've been messing around with wallpaper for the two screens in thor

This is what I found out

The bottom screen actually zooms in a lot even if you use the exact resolution of the screen

Using photoshop to find out the alignment (by manualy drawing lines over a picture and setting in one by one til it looks right)
I've made a picture alignment image

the grey areas are the visible part

but for the bottom image you want the acutal picture size to be the entire red part to account for the zoom

roughly worked out the spacing between the screen but I did eyeball it so i might be wrong on that

I did use a 4k image as a base to test things but it should fit any thing else too provided you scale it first

Really wish they didn't put the purple covering under the glass but it still looks okay.
The TPU grip does fit over the TPU shell if anyone was wondering.

I don't think Azahar gives you the ability to modify the bottom screen, which is 1240x1080 aka 3.88x as wide and 4.5x as tall as the 320x240 3DS lower screen, so it's non-integer scaling, but as long as you set it to the correct aspect ratio, it looks great. I think you could modify the top screen to be integer scaled if you really wanted, but it looks great non-integer scaled with correct aspect ratio to fill out the screen vertically, especially if you increase the internal resolution to 4x which is a good mid-ground between the 3.88x increase on the bottom screen and 4.5x increase on the top screen in output resolution

It is couple days after i got mine Thor Max, and now i can say, that i very wait for Odin3… it is so much downgrade from Odin2 Portal with Grip to Thor in comfortability perspective… After these 2 days i now fully decided, that my portable console will be Odin3..

i tried installing the bottom screen protector for about ten minutes before getting frustrated and giving up. i hate installing screen protectors and hardly ever use them, but i figured since they came with the accessories pack i might as well try to use it. nope.

One thing that’s always worked for me is to place it as is and tape the bottom to the device with like painters tape (easy to take off). Now that it’s line up just pull up the protector, take the adhesive cover off, and re apply

Definitely the bigges improvement from the odin 2 line. The original 2 were deep but they were too narrow for me. Curling your fingers too much is not a natural position and will quickly get uncomfortable. Odin 3 looks to be really nice in that aspect.

So has anyone figured out a JamesDSP configuration that’s better suited to the Thor yet? The RP5 one definitely is working better, but it’s still annoying to get a really aggressive buzzing sound from the left speaker whenever it gets “too loud” (which is most volumes above 50% from what I can tell).

From what I can tell, they usually raise/lower the prices for buttons depending on how complex it is to make them for that particular device.

Where I’ve gotten buttons from others that were a lot cheaper when Sakura didn’t have any available yet, only for those other buttons to be…nowhere near as good as the stock buttons, so I’d end up getting sick of them and ordering a set from Sakura that would end up feeling way better to use.

Like, I still remember that one set of Brick buttons I got that just did not have the inner tab to keep them in place (they just had the single circle pin) so they’d just always slightly shift to the right or left until you had the Square rotated into a diamond and the triangle rotated upside down.

Meanwhile Sakura’s had the tab and didn’t have that issue.

Sadly, autostereoscopic screens like the one in the 3DS and some smartphones that came out around the same time don't seem to be produced any more. Just like 3D televisions aren't. Nintendo could get them custom made. But a little emulation handheld maker? Not likely. So, for 3DS games, I'll keep playing them on my New 3DS XL. Today I was charging my Thor with a new Basius power back. It was turned off but the area around the cpu became extremely hot. I had to stop charging and turned it on to cool the cpu with fan at max speed. I use the same power bank with my other handhelds but this never happened before.

Ive been using it to autofarm dna while watching an anime. So far pretty great tbh. Tho i will say im probably going to like the pocket ds more, because the hinge can sit at any angle. Normally i like the detents clicking more, but if the angles arent right its worse for actual use.

That first click is perfect for table top stuff, but rhe second one i wish it was just slightly farther. Im tilting my hands more than id like at the distance i want to hold this device at.

Duet night abyss its new. Basically waifu warframe. If you start id reccomend skipping through act 1, the story is pretty stale but picks up a lot in act 2 and especially in act 3. Only thing locked explicitely behind a paywall are skins, but characters and weapons are pretty easy to farm and the gameplay is fun. Plus the game does not shy away from afk gameplay unlike warframe.

Its been out just under a week and not including cbt time ive already put in like 40-50 hours.

My Thor has image retention sometimes too yeah. Noticed it with the white Azahar logo on the front screen, and also the white AYN bootup logo. But it goes away after a few seconds

I saw some people talking about the screen protectors, I got the top on perfect, but my bottom has the same issue, the middle left side lifts a little bit 🤔 so it's not the application, potentially the shape of the device or the screen protector not perfectly flat? It doesn't come up much, I could live with it, but may try something to keep it down.

Also for anyone's information, shipping was 11 days to Canada using 4PX. My experience was totally fine, it also breezed through Nancheng in 4 hours back when everyone's was getting stuck, I wondered if it was only US orders that were put on hold for possible tariff situation reasons.
