#AYN Odin 3
1 messages · Page 11 of 1
The tomtoc steam deck bag continues to be the best "handheld" bag. Best accessory I've ever bought.
I have the tomtoc switch bag and same. Used it for many carrying many devices
finally now I can keep my toothbrush and Odin 3 all in the same bag and no one would know the difference
is that a fanny pack? lmao
can we request to make the bag transparent purple
if we are going to make it ugly may as well go all the way
I kinda like it. But then again I did just get the Legion sling 🤣
Instead of tue designer bag they could release a carry case for the Odin 2 Portal that fits with the grips -.- I'd even pay for it. And order a Thor if that's what it takes lol
Not to be a shill, but the Odin 2 portal with grip fits in the tomtoc steam deck bag.
It "fits" in a lot of cases.. with room to dangle around.. without AYN branding..
I want a proper first party case that does the Portal justice^^
Best aftermarket fit is likely carry cases that were made for the G cloud (very similar shape, almost same with, G Cloud is just a tad taller). But they all look butt ugly imho.
just playing my rog ally for maybe the first time in many months..... why am i wasting time with winlator? lmao
I just had nearly the same revelation with my Legion Go lmao
No messing with configs and much better performance
Think we're still a ways away from gamehub/winlator being a completely viable replacement
the rog ally lcd is very good. still wish it had an oled tho
i got a rog ally yesterday 😄
i got yesterday lenovo go s with steamos and z1e. After just android/linux consoles, this is so simple and powerfull device, NBA, NFS new games and etc runs smootly and wonderfully. To be ideal device, just missing OLED and better battery.
I am finding more reasons to cancel the Odin 3 now. Better PS3 emulation, no more winlator, and less crashes everywhere.
But surprisingly switch emulation is better on android?
Maybe I just cancel both Thor max and Odin 3 ultra, and put that money towards a onexfly f1 pro hx370. But then it has a tiny battery. Decisions decisions.
Oh and another nice thing with windows, I can use Lossless Scaling to boost (frame gen) 60fps to 120fps
There's a project for Android that's doing framegen too. Needs a rooted device though.
Also 8G3 and up have framegen capability, just a matter of the specific OS from yhe vendor supporting it.
Switch is an ARM device, so it only needs to emulate the GPU part (if you ever wondered what "NCE" means in the emulators: Native Code Execution, meaning the CPU code runs natively).
x86 needs to emulate both CPU and GPU, therefore higher requirments and processing power needed.
Maybe the Thor + ally makes more sense than Odin 3
The main reason to waste time with GameHub etc over an x86 is portability imo. Hard to find a 300-ish grams 5-6" x86 handheld.
That's at least the main attraction to me, even though I mostly just stream my games it's impossible to find an x86 form factor for an affordable price that I can just randomly throw in any bag and take with me on trips, the pool, whatever
I also have the Ayaneo air. But the battery life sucks on that even worse
And it’s nowhere close to the power of the z1e
For some scenarios the Konkr Fit or Odin 3 just are the best compromise for portability imo
And using windows on that is a real tragedy
I think the main problem for me for those is compatibility. I would be trying to tune it more than actually playing it.
And I’m not specifically talking about the elite chip. Just android in general
If you're going for x86 emulation, then yeah - definitely
Ie PS3, winlator, etc
Yeah, most definitely. For me it's easy as all I need is basically Artemis and 1 or 2 small indie titles on GameHub I know that run well
I’m impressed more and more with my ally now, now that I haven’t touched it in months lol
I guess the software has just improved that much
I personally just don't have any value for x86 power as I'd be streaming on those too..
And there’s more upscaling and frame gen hacks around now
I almost bought a Zotac Zone for streaming.. but then the Portal was announced at 1/3rd of the price and 1/2 of the weight..
I’ll have to try streaming again. The last I tried, I just felt disconnected from the game/feel
No point getting a x86 for streaming yeah
I'd cinsider it if the Legion S had an OLED tbh
But vanilla Moonlight doesn't really cut it anymore with how well Artemis+Apollo run on Android
I guess it would make Remote Desktop handy
Too many QoL improvements there
At home it's basically impossible for me to tell apart from native
But even in the holiday resort a couple of weeks ago on public WiFi with a 10mbps cap and 25ms network latency I really didn't feel disconnected at all
Sure, you won't play shooters with that setup, but for anything single-player, even stuff like Lonely Mountains: Downhill it's very hard to tell.. some controllers or TVs have more total latency than my streaming setup..
Never tried that Artemis+apollo before. I’ll have to give it a shot
And my home internet is on 5G.. it's 5G SA (which is a lot better and more stable than traditional 5G, but it's still through the air and not wired, so not as good as Fiber or DSL, but it's scary close).
You should really give it a shot. Especially the experimental.9 build in their GitHub with the Snapdragon and Mediatek, Vsync and framepacing tweaks enabled
If you needs tips/help setting it up feel free to ping me, I'd be happy to help
Artemis+Apollo has nearly obsoleted my steam deck and I prefer to stream to my portal over the steam deck.
Artemis + Apollo has basically even obsoleted my PC desk these days. I very much prefer sitting in the garden streaming to my Portal than sitting at my desk playing.
The only times I actually sit in front of my PC is for KB+Mouse games, but that's become really rare.
Also true sitting on the couch has been way better than sitting at my desk.
my PC is connected to my TV and auto-starts Steam in big picture mode, so I literally control it for the most part with a controller, haven't turned on my monitor in ages
For most people Thor for on the go + a big ass handheld for home makes most sense
getting both Thor and the Odin 3 is overkill
unless you are into shiny new toys
I'll be getting both because I have a problem
but I'm fully aware I don't need them lol
SD865 Thor + an Odin Portal (2 or the eventual 3 that will likely happen) would make sense too
ain't we all?
i am perfectly fine with Thor + Portal combo in out household
8 Elite tho
that as of right now a minus for me 😄 (due to the driver situaition)
as i dont care for winlator or android games
I consider both the Odin 3 and the Thor to be Toys to tinker with. Dual screens Android is going to take a few months to a year to be where people really want it to be and the 8 elite may never get drivers.
Anyone wanting an Android handheld that's guaranteed to work should just get an Odin 2 portal.
there are other less obvious benefits about this chip like battery life or the ability to finally be able to emulate dirge of cerberus at full speed
potentially
for battery life sd8g2 already does twice more than we realisticalyl need anyway 😄
to emulate dirge of cerberus at full speed
does it thjough? looks laggy from the only vid i found
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0cbf-DcFYg
#finalfantasy #android #ios
Dirge of Cerberus Final Fantasy VII
PS2 Aethersx2 android emulator last version
IQOO 13 smartphone
OS: Android 15, Funtouch 15 (International), OriginOS 5 (China)
Chipset: Qualcomm SM8750-AB
Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm)
CPU: Octa-core (2x4.32 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L + 6x3.53 GHz Oryon V2 Phoe...
Also at the super fan level the Odin 3 ultra is one of the cheapest 8 elite devices with 1TB of storage and a suitable amount of ram. So if you want to tinker with an 8 elite chip this is kinda a good entry point.
ah, that's disappointing, I assumed it would be able to brute force it
maybe with active cooling and a lower resolution
yeah from that PoV its great deal for sure
i ultimately went to portal mainly cuase of the bigger screen anyway (as upgrade from O2 )... + the fact i got it fro great price
bad settings
oh no they were summoned
My brief experience with the Ally I found it to be the best triple A handheld. Felt like you could play recent pc games with fewer caveats than the steam deck.
I also do still feel like there is the weird grey area between high end devices like the Odin and Ally/Steam Deck where they cross over but not at the same time
I think the major enticement for me right now is that I’m actually playing games now, rather than finding the perfect combination of settings, tweaks, and drivers for winlator, rpcsx, etc etc lol
And I’m finding it less bulky or clunky to hold/play with than I’d remembered
Wonder how it’ll feel like once I actually put in the 80wH battery
That's why I'm happy with the 477m (at least for emulation). I can just pick up and play without feeling overwhelmed.
The main advantage I think Android has over x86 handhelds is that the mobile chips are so efficient so you can get double digit battery life in many cases
Yeah that was a major turnoff initially with the ally. But should be remedied by the new 80wH battery
I’ve been playing winlator, ps3, and switch on the dmg, and actually those things really zap out the battery. Seems like the ally was actually more efficient
i have a 65wh battery in my ally and def makes a nice difference. I havent really tried full blown AAA stuff yet on it 😄
It's a wonder why so many handhelds launch with a smaller battery only for it to be corrected in a later revision
u can put 88Wh
bolt-on, stock case
its an easy enough reason. More money 😄
less cost, funs anyway will buy it
Yup + the best devices for games such as Ananta, Arknight Endfields, 7DS Origin, etc
Many upcoming games that are done well for Android
so if i dont care for gacha mmos and winlator ... there is barely anything
Pretty much
We must gather the exorcism spells to banish them whence they came.
Because this game is so trending now, maybe someone tried Sonic Racing Crossworld on Gamehub on devices with 8gen2, g3gen3 or elite?
If they make more dumb choices like the playstore push then gl xD
The new sonic racing game is fun
Best Sonic racing game since Riders and Transformed imo
It's so good.
Been having an absolute blast playing it with some of my friends
Yea i love riders and same the last time me and siblings had fun with a racing game was Mario kart on gamecube
Ok yeah, I know for certain now I’d prefer an Odin 3 over the Odin 2 Portal (or 3 Portal when that inevitably comes out).
Taking the Switch out for the first time since I first got my og one near the end of 2017, and I can feel the weight in my backpack.
It’s not to an uncomfortable extent to where I don’t wanna do it, but it basically confirms what my preferences are for handhelds are.
Would really prefer taking the Switch Lite out instead if I had one, haha
Aaaaand it's gone 😮💨
Nope, it still there. You using correct link?
Only appears if you have correct link to it
There are links in one of the pinned messages too: #1407320894317264896 message
there we go it appears now 😄
Ah there we go. Thank you!
Although the Max spec exceeds my ever crumbling price limits...
How about pro? 1 of those is available
Oh I missed that! Omw
DONE. THANK YOU!!!
Well done 👏 congrats 🎉
ASUS ROG ally is better at winlator than Odin 3
but it much bigger, Asus Rog is like Odin 2 Portal. Odin3 is more portable device 🙂
I’m just tired of tinkering. I almost forget it’s fun to just play games lol
I wonder how many levels deep you could use winlator on the ally
Once I get bored of playing games, I’ll appreciate tinkering again. So maybe that’ll be when the Odin 3 actually ships
What games would you have to tinker?? There's plenty of options to play games without tinkering lmao
Sounds like excuses haha
Are you telling me you don't want to play games at 544p 26 fps?
Right now it’s RPCSX and winlator
What games??
My mains on rpcsx right now are VF5, outrun2006, and ridge racer 7
Winlator is basically any game that I can run lol. Making a game run is the game
Oh that’s right. I haven’t tried gamehub or the others yet
Yeah, not sure about running those 🤣 but I like both, gonna be tinkering with ff7 7th heaven mod when I get my 3 ultra in, so ready to play it without streaming on the go
Yeah im already so close on the mini with 12g but with the elite chip and more ram I'll definitely be able to brute it
8g2 can’t run 7th heaven mod?
Maybe I’m thinking of something else
I havent seen it done without rooting it
No that’s the one. I thought 8g2 would’ve been able to handle it. Oh well
I have moguri running fine but something about the 7th heaven and the the mod requirements make it harder when winlator alone takes up a decent amount of the ram available out of the 12g
Was 7th heaven available in 4:3 aspect?
I think so i just have widescreen mods, Ive just been streaming it as of late
Honestly with all the sprite upgrades, the chibi for out of battle and the in battle sprites look like ff7 remake ones its so damn nice
Ive been loving it haha
I don't think anyone actually knows how this guy got 7th Heaven running in Winlator
Did this guy ever finally respond to the people asking how the fuck he got it to even boot?
Ai
Rooted and only used like 2 mods is what I deciphered haha
The thing is... does Winlator care about root?
That’s not how this should even work, if it was then it would make sense for 7th Heaven to still boot and work fine, with it only crashing once you try to boot the game with anything more than it can actually handle without rooting for performance.
Except it doesn’t even boot in the first place, like it literally doesn’t show up in the task manager at all (well, it shows up for like a literal second and then disappears).
Yeah, someone on the Winlator or 7th Heaven side needs to investigate what it's having trouble with tbh
I mean it helps tune the system to not have so much bloat for android so helps with memory but also he had some drivers for it too help it boot, but yeah I get the game running and it just crashes it shows up on task manager just does what moguri does when you dont cancel the services exe, so more memory and a more powerful chip should let it boot
I get 7th heaven pulled up just fine its just doesnt boot the game
How?!
Like, I’m not even joking when I say I flat out was scratching my head and thinking it was just a weird error on Winlator’s end because I literally couldn’t figure out how to do even that.
Wait, that was you?!
Alot of tinkering i spent a whole day working on it with different winlator forks haha
Same thing with the FFNx build of FF7 (using the dumped Android port, that I already verified was working on my computer), where that also wouldn’t boot properly, even though FF7 installed via Steam would boot just fine and even worked full speed.
Yeah lmao I've concluded with how 7th heaven was built and how it loads the mods its just too much for 12g and the 8gen 2
You should go back to reddit and respond to people, lol. That post is one of the first that comes up for people googling 7th Heaven on Winlator.
What about 16gb and g3xg2
I got a new phone and didn't install reddit but ill go back to see what people have been saying
Is it more reliant on cpu or gpu
Genuinely please and thank you.
Ram i mean just booting winlator takes up alot
No kidding, it would’ve saved me a lot of time if I knew what the issue was with Winlator so that I could verify the reason it wasn’t booting myself, even if it also included a comment saying “but don’t get your hopes up, the device can’t really handle booting 7th Heaven mods”.
Have you tried within a Gamehub container? That can lessen the ram used due to their optimizations.
Which is why I opted for the 24g cause I'm determined to make it work
Putting the 7th Heaven installation file in your Android downloads means you can access it from the Gamehub container.
Hell yeah.
I pre downloaded all my mods and moved them to the assigned folders, so i wouldn't have to worry about it trying to download them
I am curious if others in the future might be able to optimize it, or make a "lite" version for instances like this with enough interested...
Oh wait, that works? Nice, did you use FFNx and the dumped Android build? Or did you use Steam to install FF7?
This i haven't tried because gamehub wasn't too big a while ago, might be worth it too, and I used steam version cause I had it working on my pc like the moguri mod but witb how 7th heaven works i just had goldberg the drm file
I just realized my dmg has the same amount of ram as my ROG ally lol
I had ff7 pre installed like how you move moguri from pc to android
Does winlator use up more ram than actual windows?
That's super fair. But pre-installing may have also been why you were getting that Steam.dll error.
Yeah I also tried, installing it from the pc version of ff7 cause it still works with 7th heaven but no luck
Yeah, fair enough. It’s annoying that FF7 and 8 still have the drm in spite of FF9 not having it for some reason, since it just makes them that much more of a hassle.
Yeah cause ff9 doesnt require steam to boot, which is why I'm gonna hit up the moguri people to try to see how they did it so I can maybe edit the code
I tried it all haha, downl9ading a steam fork of winlator to try to do it how my pc does, Goldberg the drm file, trying the pc version of ff7
Oh, this is an unrelated question, but would you happen to have tried and succeeded to get the GoG version of Bioshock 1 and/or 2 Classic running on Odin 2 using Winlator?
Mainly wanted to ask someone else messing with Winlator on the off chance you happened to figure out what to do for that game in particular.
I havent really messed with gog, but its doable I see YouTube videos of it running, on the 7.13 glib c fork, running performance mode and with a turnip drivers and 2.31 box
Frankly, I'm mostly curious if the 16gb ram Thor will be able to approach running 7th Heaven lol
Im about to tinker some more, but i hope so, the only reason I went with the ultra odin 3 was to give me the best chance haha but hopefully I make some headway today and get it working on my mini pro
Im redoing my folders and drm and about to transfer it all over to my sd card
I found out memoria has a steam patcher built in, but I'm crossing my fingers haha
Got about 30 min cause all of ff7 and mods is about 40gigs haha
Ping me if you get some success? I'm heading to work and otherwise will likely miss stuff. 7th Heaven VII is just too good to miss out on having it portable locally.
For sure if I accomplish it I might have to make a YouTube video so I domt get too blown up 🤣
Hell yeah. And post it to reddit as you disappear into the aether again.
Id love to know if this works and the steps so count me in 😅
Uploads a short video of it playing to tease everyone and never be seen again 🤣 jk
This is the way.
We call that pulling the Taki 😄
Hey don’t jinx my SUPER5 mega kit
By now I’m not interested in my lite anymore but whatever lol
Making it 8 Elite compatible would be a huge, huge win, probably the biggest thing they need to make for a long time (if it's also 8 gen 5 compatible)
- Odin 3 is lighter and slimer than Odin 2
Why tinker ? GameHub exists
I’ll have to try it out
they just impement 842.6 drivers WOW

Here we go again haha let's see if its possible

Fwiw you may not want to try with Cosmos Gaia specifically because it forces real time lighting, which even my first gen steam deck was not a fan of lmfao
Is there one with full path ray tracing?
Yeah, it’s not much bigger than a RP5, which is a big selling point for me
‼️
This might be it furthest I've gotten where it actually recognizes game path and exe
What method are you using so far?
3.x version of 7th heaven and winlator frost
3.x?
Yeah a older version of 7th heaven
May I ask why?
Is it the steam check maybe?
Yeah it doesnt use the steam drm
But now I have a failed iso check cause I can't mount isos to winlator ugh
And using a Winlator image with Steam running in the background is probably too much ram inside so many instances of Things?
I'm sorry if I'm asking obvious things, lol
I havent been able to get steam to work very well on winlator and have also been trying that
Steams been a roadblock for me even though I see people using it
The trick to get 7th heaven up and running is to tap it a whole bunch and check task manager to see if it booted
Its finnicky
Yeah, I'm so confused what it's trying to do that it kinda destroys itself when booting
So.if you got steam running try it haha
I've only got 8gb ram on my RP5. Idk if it's worth trying to boot it or not.
You on performance? It doesnt pop up very often i click it like 15 times with my finger
For the box preset
It might if moguri works for you, worth a try
Moguri is easy to get running
Just copying a working game folder with the mods downloaded then copy that folder from the pc to the sd card
Yeah no drm!
I'll look into it.
Having things locally will be awesome.
Yeah it definitely is love moguri!
So basically pre-mod it all with Memoria or whatnot beforehand and just wholesale chuck the folder at some sort of Winlator build?
Yep! And just run the memorial exe
That's so exciting. Hell yes.
I wonder if I can get it to work within a Gamehub container so it will still give me cheevos...
I'm greedy, hi
Got Moguri Mod running on cmod! Once I remembered to install wine monos...
@stiff quartz What did you think about the PS3 performance on the Astra? I'm torn between getting a PC handheld or something with the 8 elite
Astra worst tablet
Dont
If want Elite tablet, get Legion Gen4 or Oneplus Tab3
What's wrong with it?
Hardware limitation
Without stability impact
But i would recomend wait tablet with new elite ...
Price on chipset doesnt rise
But 30% performance boost
Or just get handheld on elite
What's the benefit of the y700 gen4 over the astra?
Both don't have active cooling
performance+stability
build quality
Damn I was considering getting the astra lol
it has one real advantage is high end tcl (real-rgb) display
thats all
The Astra has solid stability and performance? I have both 😅
I have a video on it! https://youtu.be/z-muP2lR_B0
👉 In this video, we make a very exciting return to PlayStation 3 emulation on Android with the RPCSX emulator (originally known as RPCS3) using one of the most powerful mobile chipsets, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite. This time around we will go deeper than ever before and test heavier titles with many games that work better than expected desp...
Which one do you prefer between the two? Was thinking about getting one of them since the drivers seem to be getting better
Y700 vs astra
If you're wanting PS3 emulation though, x86 handheld is still the way to go.
RPCS3 is far more mature
I've watched it like 4-5 times already haha but I'm still insanely torn
Are there specific games you want to play?
Genuinely we've seen such a huge improvement in 8 elite performance this month
Personally, I like the Astra more. I can live without the micro SD slot, but the display is so dang good on the Astra.
Littlebigplanet and Uncharted mainly :p
thanks, not too much info on the gaming tablets out there
But also a ton of PS2
https://youtu.be/f7ntYf2WnhM This is RPCS3 with the Z1E and a lot of games perform well 17w or less
👉 In this video, we make a long-awaited return to the Playstation 3 and take a look at PS3 emulation using the @RPCS3_emu emulator for Windows with the new ASUS ROG Ally X. This time we’re back bigger and better than before with an insane list of 100 PS3 games running on the ASUS ROG Ally X and serves as a demonstration of the capabilities ...
Oh sick i didn't realise you had a vid on x86 too
^^^^^
You're gonna need x86 for those games for sure
RPCSX/aPS3e are just not mature enough
consider PS3 experimental on Android, you are gonna have a much better time with an x86
the only game i would want to try is last of us i guess
not too interested in ps3 for my use case, but super cool that its happening
not happening, not even on x86 is that game emulatable yet
ah damn didnt know that it wasnt playable on x86 either, thats crazy
Yea, best to play the PC version honestly
If you can get a good deal second hand, otherwise you might be better off with the Xbox Ally X coming out soon.
I was gonna say, might as well wait for the Xbox Ally, it's around the corner
The regular Ally could be a good move if you don't mind tinkering a little and adding a bigger battery which makes it closer to the Ally X
might be able to find a good deal on it, but just keep in mind the issue with the micro SD slot on earlier units
Thing is I'm in Pakistan so getting these handhelds is 1) expensive af and 2) hard af haha
There's a decent deal on an ally x rn but its still double the steam deck and non x ally
you know you could just get a steam deck and put windows on it for PS3 emulation
it's an option, it does decent
Forget it, I looked at the new tests... looks like they fixed the performance issue with the software
It must've been an issue with the Chinese units because I had a unit before global launch and never experienced issues with performance.
NP05J is Global unit right?
Is the non-X Ally the Z1 or Z1E because if you can get the same price for a non-X Z1E as the Steam Deck, I'd go with that
bc now it perform solid
Z1e!
you can always do a battery mod if you need more battery life
Yeah true
that's the move honestly
z1e is beast price-performance, z1 good too but not that much, steam deck bad
I only game in bed and i already have an extremely long USB C cable for charging so battery life isn't toooo much of a big deal for me
I’ve been wrestling with rpcsx/aps3e on android for a while now. Thought to try out rpcs3 on my ally (when I tried it a long time ago it wasn’t good). It was bliss. I can do 15W apu to play ridge racer 7 in 1080p120 (using LS)
It's seriously so good
I hope we can see it get to that point on Android but it's definitely a few years away. It's just cool to have more ways to play these games on different platforms, there's some real gems that are stuck on PS3 (and Xbox 360) still.
when new video about ARM gaming coming or something like that? did u see latest Elite tests on new driver?
I don’t know what I would do with the Odin 3 now. Why struggle with tinkering when you can just pick up n play. I understand the allure of a smaller, less bulkier handheld. But it’s not worth it when the game either doesn’t work or crashes
no one still try bunch of AAA heavy games, data super small what start working now or where graphical issues gone or load normalized
one try GOW and every one try repeat it, bruh
I really want to see if it's done anything for Switch emulation.
npc's
always God of War 😅
15+- videos and GOW
PS3 - God of War 3
PS2 - God of War II
so interesting right?
u get A16?
also seems like driver 842.6 work better when u flash it as system (confirm - that fake)
weird
I'm currently recruiting elite owners, we'll be testing various x86 and Switch games
already 3
😂 Meanwhile I am still struggling with Dolphin. I finally got Super Mario Sunburn and it still has bad frame drops on my 8 elite phone. It is not smooth as Russ claims in his 8 elite testing video.
Also tried all the new drivers
need to flash it to the system for switch testing right? or did they release a seperate driver for it already
yes
for now, maybe soon they add it like option (eden)
u flashed driver?
I installed drivers within dolphin following this: https://github.com/K11MCH1/AdrenoToolsDrivers/blob/16e5a383/docs/dolphin.md
im not sure if latest drivers compatible with dolphin
via dolphin*
It might not be. I'm just hoping dolphin gets more love and attention on this chipset 🥲 Many people seem to assume dolphin runs well for 8 elite raw power.
most games work perfect, but there exceptions like that
Early bird
I think we're at least a month away from seeing a real life prototype
Yeah, they're pretty laser focused on the Thor.
Thor units are just going out. It'll be awhile for the O3 yet.
I forgot the shipping date. When is it again?
End of Nov. or Dec I believe
Thank you
I’m going back and forth on the Odin 3. Can the snapdragon elite play TOTK on default settings?

Iirc secret console e u is a .ess on elite as of right now
Crash insta
Rubbish chip
emulators
all of them wasnt ready for this big driver, we try almost everything already
What is it Eden are teasing? New driver?
Elite sales will go up when totk and botw run really well
That help me make my decision since that is where I would want to use the extra power over the Odin 2
we already force it to run on max driver, but have issues 🙂
Eden next update will fix them
how much was odin 3 ultra again? i might just use that money towards a 5070
$499 Super Early Bird
so basically 5070 money lol
Mine is free because past me bought it for me already
It's... elite
Makes me want to stick around and see what’s up with elite……
To keep it simple, better vulkan compatibility.
This will help all stock drivers, but the 8 elite and above right now will be especially benefited by this becuase they have really good vulkan drivers and dont have any turnip support.
just refunded a superfan pro, there are 3 units available now if anyone interested
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/odin-3-the-ultimate-6-120hz-oled-gaming-handheld/x/17330162?secret_perk_token=ccbee811#
It’s ok. Riou is keeping his Odin 3 Max instead
Got anything for how RPCS3 performs through winlator/gamehub on the elite by chance?
i like to use LS to boost the ps3 60fps games to 120fps
I haven't explored it, I think there will be too much of a performance loss from the translation layer + emulation for PS3.
I think even with the power of the 8 Elite, it's not going to be enough to brute force and the games that it might be able to will just be better off running through RPCSX.
Speaking of PS3 emulation it's neat that you don't even need a dedicated Gpu for them anymore
8700G handles basically everything at native, or if you want 1080p the Hx 370 with the 890m handles it
Although idk how well Lossless would work with that since there wouldn't be a lot of headroom
iiirc the avx512 thing is important there ,,, and most amd cpus in these x86 handhelds has it ... even the deck apu
I do think if you're going to play a lot of PS3 especially once emulation for that improves in the coming years, I'd personally want at least 16 gigs of ram.
I've seen some say 12gb is good enough for PS3, which I'm bit skeptical about given both Windows and MacOS versions of RPCS3 recommend at least 16.
I’ve been playing rpcs3 1080p60 w/LS with just the ROG ally. 8700G is supposed to have one of the best igp’s around. I’m sure it’s much stronger than the ally
What's the latest we can cancel the pre order? Considering cancelling my superfan pro? If the face buttons are as noisy/clacky as the Thor I wouldn't be happy. I think a Ayn rep confirmed the buttons are the same on both so I assume the rubber membranes would be the same also and they both use a glass faceplate so should we expect any difference in the noise? Gutted as I am in the early 200,s for my order so would receive relatively quickly, decisions decisions.
There's five days left on the IndieGoGo campaign. I've checked my contribution and it still lets me initiate a refund. So I reckon you have five days to do it easily yourself. You can likely still cancel afterwards though just by emailing AYN.
The Thor's buttons don't seem loud or clacky at all though? In Joey's livestream they sounded great
You gotta remember these YouTubers are pointing mics at the buttons and hitting them hard
I have super sensitive hearing to certain noises.
From what I have heard of the buttons, they’re not as bad as people are making them out to me, and I don’t like really clacky buttons x3
I can tolerate them somewhat
The glass doesn't impact the noise cause the buttons are in a plastic disc, it's not like the RP Mini where the buttons were directly there in the glass
Obviously, quieter buttons is much preferable
This too.
It won’t be as noisy in person
Good point I will re watch the video and I havnt seen Joey's, thanks for the reply.
Thanks for the replies, I will try and not make a rash judgement I may regret down the line haha. Worst case scenario I could just sell it if I receive it and don't like it. I think it's just the anticipation of wanting the device and not actually seeing any footage of it haha.
I do secretly hope you cancel so I get mine quicker
just FYI, there is currently a single superfan odin 3 max available (the link’s pinned in this channel)
https://youtu.be/p38UkWuGI0c?si=deKZ802XMo_5dj39 the video I was using for reference was a bit dated tbh, over a year old

also nah the 8700g just has the 780m
although itd obviously run better with a higher 65w tdp
its awesome for those sub 4L sff builds
I had a tiny build with that cpu and it worked awesome before I sold it here
I'm hoping we get a 9700G/10700G soon with the 890m though, would be sweet
im more excited to see what intel-nvidia brings
well they have the 140v/t but not on anything desktop either rn
well, the upcoming ones
I think the difference between the 890m and 780m will be even smaller on desktop than we see on the Z1E to Z2E. Because you can’t do LP DDR ram on desktop and thus the bandwidth bottleneck will be even worse
Nvm, I see we are talking emulation. 9700G would be a beast at emulation and a big upgrade over 8700G
🤔
The 8700G has a really solid feature people underrate as well tbh
It's a good cpu that you can use the iGpu for dedicated frame gen
You can also unlock the tdp and overclock the iGpu itself, which lets you do a frame multiplier of 2x with lossless scaling at 100 flow scale at 4K with low input latency and stable frame gen to 120
The chip draws about 87w while maxing out both but you can increase that to about 105w like other Ryzen chips and overclock the gpu to 500mhz above it's stock boost(2.9ghz up to 3.4ghz stably)
it more
LPDDR?
Alr, listen ...
DDR5 4800Mhz has 77GB/Sec
LPDDR5 6400Mhz has 51Gb/Sec 64bit / 102 128bit
DDR5-4800 128 бит 76.8 ГБ/с - Jedec
LPDDR5-6400 128 бит 102.4 ГБ/с - if we talk about laptops/handhelds that flagships
LPDDR5X-8533 128 бит 136.5 ГБ/с - Elite, Gen3
LPDDR5X-9600 128 бит 153.6 ГБ/с - Elite Gen5, Elite flagships, 9400, 9500
LPDDR5X-10667 128 бит 170.7 ГБ/с - D9400 flagships
DDR5-6000 cl30 128 бит 96 Гб/c - common cheap desktop ram setup
Why do you double the bandwidth calc for desktop ddr5? What is jedec?
128bit they can use and they do
Jedec (its not only 4800) is memory standart
without xmp / expo profiles
Hype hype hype
You're such a downer. 😂
Wow never thought of this. Can you use igp as frame gen processor in Lossless?
I will Google it myself
Oh cool. Time to enable my igp in bios
Oh of course.
Many people cancelled their orders? 4 super fan Odin 3 Pro left: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/odin-3-the-ultimate-6-120hz-oled-gaming-handheld?secret_perk_token=ccbee811#/
Konkr has truly taken off. It’s now 1300 vs 2033 of Odin 3 preorders
I wonder how many canceled and how many upgraded to max or ultra
At this rate it may exceed Odin 3 with 30 days more for preorders while Odin 3 preorders are closing in 2 days
Upgrade is possible. But that’s a big price jump from Super Fan Pro to Early Bird Max / Ultra
KONKR closing in, nice
but being realistic here, the KONKR is mainly flying off the shelves as the G3 Gen3 version, most people that want the Elite are still with the Odin 3
There is some in demand phase or other named stage after the initial campaign if I am not wrong
Permanent SEB pricing for konkr vs O3 's current pricing probably a larger factor, even for domestic orders.
just saw russ' review on the thor
how likely will odin 3 have the same plastic quality?
particularly the black still seems to hold a fair bit of oils and fingerprint marks
The first impressions you mean. All-glass front and black colour? Gotta live with smudges. That's just the situation we find ourselves in.
yeah that one
tho it doesnt look as bad as the plastic on my original odin 2, seems a bit grittier
Is it possible all these cancellations and new konkr orders are all Arthur’s?
Idk abt that w the konkr elite having android 16
Maybe someone can share Superfan Max and Pro links? i thinking of downgradind from Ultra to cheaper version.
if you scroll up a bit there should be a link, because 4 pro were available again, max may be hard to get your hands on, doubt there were any re-appearing, same with ultra
Yeah, i took reappered Ultra, but thinking i’m not need 24 GB ram, maybe i can spend a little bit less ok this place. 🙂
they’re in this channel’s pins
oh, thanks 🙂
too late, all pro are gone now
i`m most interested to Max, i will wait 😉
Depends what iGpu you have and what resolution you play at, 780m is good for 1440p at 100% flowscale-4K at about 80%, both for 60->120/2x multiplier
760M is good for 1080p 100% fs or probably 1440p at 80%
what does 9800x3d have
and i never understood what that flowscale thing was all about lol
I'd refer to this video tbh, he tested an 8700G Vs 7800X3D and the 7800X3D struggled at 1080p at 100% flowscale because of how weak the iGpu is
It's basically just a diagnostic iGpu and a bonus for if your Gpu dies
A lot of CPUs have integrated graphics included but if you have a dedicated graphics card then the chances are your IGPU is not being utilized. So can we use lossless scaling's dual GPU mode for frame generation on the IGPU while we play games on our dedicated GPU to increase our performance in games? We have two CPUs including a Ryzen 7 8700G w...
Also what case/board are you running?
open chassis/x670e hero
If you've got the budget and an extra pcie slot
You could probably just get an Rx 6400 for dedicated frame gen
It would be able for a lot more than the 780m
Probably able to 2-3x 100% flowscale 4K
At least with a base FPS of 60 for reference from that video
im just wondering what the performance hit would be, cause adding another pcie device will bifurcate the pcie slots to 8x each
also i would only be using LS for games that dont natively support DLSS4 (upscale+grame gen)
otherwise motionflow (2x global) has been working great as well
What's your main gpu?
Isn't your motherboard dual 5.0 x16 anyway
It's still as fast or faster at x8 as a 4.0 x16
Which, I'm pretty sure there isn't a single card that is bottlenecked by a 4.0 x16
A 4090 iirc only suffers a 5% bottleneck from pcie 3.0 x16
5090
No, and I think it’s rare to see a mobo with dual x16 (when both in use)
True enough
It says your board has two x16 slots on their spec site
Yes, but only x16 if only one slot is in use
If you use both, it gets bifurcated to 8x each
Ah I see, either way running both in x8 wouldn't bottleneck anything
Is it possible to set the bottom one to less than x8 or does it only work in division?
Never really thought about it
I can’t remember what the options were
I wonder can your board run one slot at x2 and still run the top at x16 maybe 🤔 because the 6400 wouldn't even be bottlenecked by 5.0 x2 I'm pretty sure
It's equivalent to 3.0 x8 which only starts to bottleneck cards like a 4060ti
Seems like it’s only 1x16 or 2x8
Kinda pointless I'm rambling anyway, 5.0 x8 shouldn't bottleneck anything you've got
Here's an older thread comment I found on it
I should get a 4090 in the second slot for frame gen and/or PhysX lmao
Nvidia is significantly worse for frame gen but you can brute force it I suppose yeah
You'd probably get better results with a far cheaper low-mid range amd gpu
How’s LS latency compared to DLSS+boost
🤔 As far as I'm aware it's fairly low, and once it's stable on a 2x multiplier it's slight
Hardly noticeable
Probably more noticeable at 4x for obvious reasons
I would def get a second card if it meant getting frame gen working in VR lol
🤔 I'm pretty sure lossless does work as frame gen for vr since it's using your video output from the program itself
Rather than an intermediate step inside it
I’ve tried. It just doesn’t work. Or I mean it works. But the output is just a jittery mess
With any type of frame gen
heres a good vid for comparisonf
one is 60 - 120 and one is 60 - 180, about a max of 6ms of latency according to this guy
this is lsfg 3.0 btw whereas the current version is lsfg 3.1 which lowered latency and improved image quality a bit
thanks for posting these! was able to snag an ultra just now.
Of course! Awesome what color
purplllle
blue was a close 2nd though
hoping I don’t regret not getting black for that floating display look
but transparent purple O3 looks like the transparent purple GBA all grown up
The two transparent colors for the O3 are easily my favorite of the choices
I’m going with blue personally
that one is also fucking great
the transparent plastic adds some much-needed personality to what would otherwise just look like a long phone with extra buttons
I love the blue but my wife would kill me if I had a blue transparent system that she couldn't have (she's getting the Thor)
Nah, she's a huge DS fan and ever since she saw the first renders of the Thor she's been super interested in it. It's her birthday present as long as it makes it on time.
that makes total sense! they’re very different devices; if they weren’t both so pricy, I’d be tempted to get both myself.
I'll admit, as much as I would really love the Thor and to pair it with the Odin 3, if someone other than Retroid makes a better DS addon of some sort (or Retroid themselves make their addon less janky), I might get that for the Odin 3.
Would make more financial sense than getting two expensive handhelds
I'm pretty sure I'll likely only be able to get one or the other next year
I could also wait and see if any cheaper alternatives to the Thor pop up that are good and can play most if not the whole 3ds library and use the O3 as my main handheld
so uh, if Thor, with two displays, a less efficient chip, and 75% of the battery capacity, is getting battery life like this, I wonder how Odin 3's going to perform
im hoping the odin 3 has a bigger cooling solution
it's hard to tell for sure, but it sure looks like it has a lot of ventilation
That power button looks like a fingerprint reader
lol, now they bring it back, didn't even notice
people complained on the Portal, because the Odin 2 had it, bet Odin 3 Portal has no fingerprint reader again?
oh it will absolutely blow minds, people still underestimate what the elite chip really means
and all of 3 people will notice, and the world will go on
a girl can dream
holy shit that would be awesome
I don't use the fingerprint on all my Aya devices, I won't use it on the Odin 3
gonna be awesome if it's basically a turbo switch lite
but with the ability to play super discounted steam indies instead of paaying the nintendo tax
you could play the Steam Indies on a G3 Gen3 KONKR, this will play the AAA games
fuck paying Square Enix good money for a GKC of a game I have on Steam already
holes for ventilation is one thing, but im wondering what the size is for the fan and heatsink
did the pocket air have a fingerprint power button?
or was that the air
look I just wanna play Hades 2 at 1080/120 for five hours okay
ah fair, I'd hope both are reasonably large/powerful to make solid use of thata ventilation, but who knows
The g3x g2 is a capable chip, only to be held back by the evo and dmg’s dinky fans
Not only were the fans dinky, a lot of them didn’t even have proper thermal pads lmao
were the evo and dmg ayaneo?
I'd guesss the Odin 3's cooling setup will be similar to past ayn devices, though I could be wrong
yes
when will handhelds have rails on the back to slide on external cooling solutions
probably never lol
i guess its not standardized
you could probably design a 3d printed, snap-on, USB-C-powered cooling setup, though
maybe make the cooling good enough that you don't need this in the first place
Welp that's me scarred for life
So today I have been playing Baldurs gate dark alliance on my 8 elite phone. I never had any issues with nethersx2 on this phone before, but this game seems to cause a lot of trouble. At 3x resolution, the game cannot maintain 60 fps in the sewer level 1 area and the phone becomes very hot.
It could be a title for testing 8 elite device with active cooling.
Snowblind engine games tend to be harder to emulate iirc, and you will need use the main nethersx2 (4248) instead of 3668/classic
So we shouldn't be getting Odin 3 devices in our mailboxes before… February ?
December is probably a reasonable expectation
Current plan is late November for shipping to start, says on their IGG page
So if you've got a low contribution ID and chose a popular SKU, you should have yours in Dec I reckon
Hmmm where can I check the contribution ID ? 🤔
Probably cancels reorders etc adding to order #s
yeah, my number's in the 4400s
so they had a lot of cancellations, though I'd hazard a guess that a good chunk of those were to change spec/color/accessories
yeah, at least 2 cancelations were mine 😄 and one of them was a big mistake, because after ordered first day i started to see a lot of worries about capabilities and canceled it 🙁 i had good place - 467 i think
Yeah lotsa people have multiple cancellations lol. Super Fan discounts keep coming in and out of stock, so people snatch them up and cancel their previous Super Early Bird or Early Bird orders.
I was there at like 2am when it launched and clicked on the super fan link, but didn't realise the option I had to click was all the way on the left, ended up going for a normal super early bird Ultra instead. So cancelled that and re-did it as a Super Fan like 5 mins later
Went from a double-digit CID to a triple-digit one
failed orders due to payment not making through or auto declination by banks also count to the contribution number
I'm glad I pre-ordered the clear purple, it looks awesome. 💜
I preordered purple but ended up changing to black. Wasnt a fan of transparent shell around buttons not matching the glass or vice versa. Messed with my ocd and couldn’t unsee it
I wanna see a proper image of the blue first to see if the contrast would really bother me much
I don’t put much stock in a render
Looking at above image, 2 different shades of purple
Glass vs plastic
It would be cool for a few days but would bother me after that. So glad i close black. Also for the game bezels blending into shell
Ok yeah, I see now where the glass fronts are (thought they’d be in different places)
I find it weird it’s not the same shade
Might grow to like it, will see. Rather see how it looks when it’s actually on the device itself
It’s certainly… interesting and not something that has really been done before with transparent devices. I just am unsure how much I’ll like or dislike it
Im actually digging the rainbow a bit now i can see it properly
But i made my choice
Someone made a good point in the AYN server that the device might look darker overall with the components inside
So ye, even more reason for me to wait and see what it actually looks like when on the device
It's the best imo
Comparing the internals of Odin 3 and Pocket Fit
O3 has fan envy 🤣
It’s a trade-off I’m willing to accept for bigger sticks and buttons.
Hope the cooling is good enough 🙏
Looks like blue actually looks a lot different than the purple nice.
So many nice things about the fit. If only they got their hands on some OLED
who cares, it is a really good IPS panel and I won't play it next to my Portal to see that it ain't OLED
I care….
Exactly. If I buy three nearly identical products, I NEED TO KNOW which one was not an irrational waste of money.
They should just put a black glass front on the purple and blue, imo
I personally do not want that.
The whole point of picking something other than black for me is because I want a colorful device.
If it looks anything like those black front edits I’ve seen people do of the Thor as well, I think it looks terrible, but that’s a personal taste thing
wait which one is the third? Konkr, Odin 3, and
Oh
there's only so many ways that you can put these things together
the innards here also look identical to the rp5, rpmini, o2portal, O2, and a bunch of Android Anbernic handhelds
they're all android phones with controls attached to them
alright who's gonna do photoshop to see how the transparents look with the glass front on top
I hope it will look good... 😅
Thank you for explaining my (admittedly not very sophisticated) joke. 😂
me, I did the photoshop thing
blue is just a guess ofc, we don't know what that will end up being yet irl
O3 more expensive build
but konkr has better cooling solution
The contrast between the solid glass and transparent cutouts isn’t that bad imo.
I think I’ll like it fine enough
yeah, I actually think real-life (and then photoshopped ofc) purple looks way better on Odin 3 than on Thor – maybe because there's not this weird clash between purple glass bottom screen bezel + purple plastic + black glass top screen bezel?
We'll see about that
Ayaneo doesn't have the best track record for cooling afaik
oh wow, blue color looks soo amazing.. maybe i will change to it.
I’m so glad I was among those who requested a clear blue and also voted for it 💙
It’s going to be an absolute fav for me when I get it near the end of next year.
Maybe it’ll even drop in price a bit if the Odin 3 Portal is a thing by then. I want the smaller size of the Odin 3.
Also, very curious about this but are there any videos at all of Sonic Racing Crossworlds running on the 8 Elite?
Want to see how viable it’d be at all for Gamehub Lite to run it. I want to play it online and also have a few mods (the 2d portrait art ones mainly)
Tried to search for them but didn’t find any
I’d assume with it having a Switch 1 port (which is the one I currently have), it might be able to run on low settings at the least, but I can’t say for certain
their latest update gives me hope the plastic will be much better vs fingerprints/oils than the odin 2 🤞
from what I’m seeing, it sounds like that doesn’t even boot in gamehub currently
Sonic Racing Crossworld is booting on Gamehub on Odin2 Portal, just it is needed add -dx11 to command line. But performance is playable just with low settings.
i think this game will be smootly on Elite.
cancel your odin 3 orders
https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-sound-wave-apu-with-32x27mm-package-appears-in-shipping-manifests
AMD Sound Wave finally making some noise A long-unseen codename. A new leak has confirmed that AMD is working on an APU codenamed “Sound Wave”. If previous rumors are correct, then this could be AMD’s ARM-based APU, and it would signal the company’s return to non-x86 architectures after more than a decade. The information comes […]
Steam deeecckkkk
2 P cores + 4 E cores with 4 RDNA 3.5 compute units. This thing is not competing with the 8 Elite or any windows handheld
Seems like a low power windows tablet or chromebook chip
The Mendocino has decent performance for a 2CU rdna2, this might be it's replacement for windows on arm devices like the surface mentioned in the article, don't mind seeing it in a more budget handheld as well.
ok you go first
yeah, the article literally says it won’t be able to compete with snapdragon elite chips
I just ordered an Odin 3 so I could cancel it
Thank you for doing your part.
There is “AI” written on the visual. Does it mean a waste of transistors for gaming purpose ?
maybe, the NPU does help with upscalers, they can use more complex models without impacting performance as much
Just means you can watch more ai slop while you’re gaming
Auto-translation ?
I wonder if future NPUs will become complex enough to emulate the ps3's SPU for ps3 emulation
they will become so advanced that they will play the game for you
Next gen handhelds should be able to review themselves with the power of AI
Some of the more complex models are actually trained on the original game, and use a ton of extra data from in game to be more accurate such as motion vectors on character rigs. As long as you arent going crazy with upscaling like balanced/performance at 4x frame gen, then it actually looks great and runs way better.
Its not ideal that games are being built expecting heavy upscaling and 2-4x frame gen, but the actual technology isnt bad.
Also once npus become more standard, you can actually just shove non ai tasks onto it free up resources elsewhere. Which would help woth efficiency.
wild that this info was buried in IGG comments
Heh
You're right.
On the other hand, I don't think a device that advertises its dockability would make much sense without bypass charging capability.
But making sense is not a priority in 2025. 😄
huh I wonder if this means we’ll see a performance boost while docked due to lack of, or at least reduced, thermal throttling
Hard to say. I suspect reviewers should start receiving Odin 3's around November (if they don't already have them and/or the reviews may still be under embargo).
I assume reviewers don’t have O3 yet, Ayn said they wouldn’t even be sending prototype units to drivers devs until this week
(Totally unrelated : always fun to learn a new pronoun. Never heard of fae before.)
but I am hopeful we’ll see reviews trickling in some time in november
thanks! it’s one of the more common singular nonbinary pronouns, and I just don’t love they/them, grammatically speaking.
Yeah I get that. French is even worse in that respect. One of my nephews is nb and we just don't have non-gendered words for "niece/nephew", so speaking about them is complicated at best. 😅
I tend to use they/them because most people around me use that, but I agree that linguistically, it's at best a dirty barbarism. 😐
Anyway back on topic : which O3 did you get ? 😄
purple ultra!
Argh. Like the colour, dislike the design. 😕
I’m really hype to load it up with PC indies and games I never got around to playing in my teens
I’ve been flip-flopping about switching to the rainbow model ever since I ordered, I think it would rock with a famicom red button swap
I see it as a miniature Steam Deck, a portable indie backlog killer.
It won't be until next year for me (potentially even around Christmas time) but going with Blue Max personally
hey you’ll be able to rock that floating display look and that ain’t nothing!
I will say I’ve now seen customer pics of the purple Thor and it looks way better than it does in the marketing photos
Yes ! Hide those unsightly borders !
the blue is gorgeous but I’ve been wanting a purple handheld ever since I missed out on the purple GBC
It was either the black or the white one for me (white and orange looks great, I think), but I have a black RP5 and it's really immersive, so yeah.
I'd have jumped on a matte blue.
Or a matte dark crimson, for that matter. ❤️
Purple is the one I would've gone with if the blue wasn't a thing
Yeah if I had to choose only between the purple and the blue, I'd have picked the purple.
yeah, I think the glass front doesn’t do the transparent models any favors
I do think the Odin is going to fare better than the Thor in general in that regard, though
like even the black Thor looks kinda funky in the thumbnail for Stubbs’ livestream, and I think the issue is the plastic hinge and bottom bump protruding from the glass panels
I don't think it looks all that bad, but that's just my opinion
I would rather it not be there
but yeah this irl pic of the purple honestly looks pretty good to me
I still think they could’ve picked a better shade of purple for that glass panel but what can ya do?
It's a bit weird they didn't go with a shade that matched the shade of the transparent parts of the shell
I’m guessing this is like
the same shade by RGB/CMYK
but it’s perceptually different because of the different materials
the rainbow colorway is fascinating in that its level of beigeness vs greatness seems highly affected by the color temperature of the surrounding ambient lighting
Wow.
Almost reminds me of the 8BitDo controller variants.
Pretty weird that it's the same color on the Thor. 😄
I do suspect the picture where it looks fully grey is the phone camera doing something weird to the white point
also quit making me think about the pro 3
Me ? What. Where ? I did nothing.
*hides*
-# I don't want a Pro 3 either, stop thinking I do. It's absurd. Why would I want one. Hahahaha.
-# same, my og sn30+ pro is clearly just fine

MCon is very cool, but that price is insane sorry

is there some new link for odin 3 igg? the one i saved seems to have everything disabled
Works for me… ?
hmm, same results, add to pledge button disabled
konkr one still working fine
just trying to navigate and get used to the new site
where did they hide the refund contribution button now?
Weird. 🤨
everything is a mess
Yeah the new UI is a bit more confusing than before.
seems like they remove the option for you to initiate any refund directly
Do you know until when the early bird prices will be available/ when the indiegogo campains ends ? thanks
Usually within a month or 2 from when its on their site. No garentees tho
dang the more I see purple the more I regret going for black
ooooooooo
it out
too bad it already shipped
that the best controler for mobile actually
It looks very uncomfortable.
jesus christ....
price of an RP5 for a phone controller is hilariously out of touch
Yeah but it's MAGNETIC.
It will improve your sex life AND your children's school grades.
I think we have different definitions for "ultra thin and pocketable AF"
more pocketable than a traditional console controller I guess
Just the fact that they use "AF" in the marketing material is a huge turnoff for me.
the more I see the purple the less worried I am that I didn’t pick black lol
psp 😄
I just don’t get the draw of this over a gamesir X2S
That's absurd. Didn't you see the show ? Orange is the new black. Purple is a completely different color, it's much more reddish bluegreen with a pinch of cleargrey.
purple is the better orange
checkmate
OK
I need purple spray paint.
And citrus fruits.
Things are about to change, kiddoes.
Looks like a gba glued to a phone
it’s so weird that grapefruit is only purple on the inside
Right ? I knew I wasn't the only one that bothered.
It's like passion fruit : super tasty and a lovely name, but inside it looks like something that grew in the sewer.
Well now I can't unsee that
passion fruit is best served as part of a drink
I'm excited for the blue Odin 3 after having seen how the purple Thor turned out in real life
gonna be a banger
Oh I disagree, it's really good by itself too ! 🙂
Yeah but it's not the best by itself. Only really good. It's still best served as part of a drink xD
Would be pretty funny if it was the opposite of the purple thor. looks great in official shots; everyone hates it when they get it. 😆
honestly it didn't look that good in the initial render shot, that was an uphill battle to get it to win the poll
yeah it’s gonna rock
the main things breaking the blend are the hinge, the black upper screen glass, and the bottom bump, none of which will be present on the Odin 3
Plus the bottom bump is likely to make some screens break under pressure in a bag or a pocket.
Awesome, hope AYN can show the actual product of clear blue soon
I keep thinking that an opaque purple version would look even better. 😐
Has anyone here played the Master Chief Collection on GameHub on an Odin 2?
Honestly i doubt that it will actually break it. But if you are worried you can put foam sticker dots on the corners. Im going to be doing this. Ill measure the thickness of the gap with some inside calipers and post in the thor thread.
I’m more worried about the panel flexing and breaking from pressure exerted on the corners
and here I keep thinking a smoky black would’ve looked better…
Matte black, folks. Classy, timeless.
Fingerprint-unfriendly.
Yes. That is exactly my point.
No reviewer has still tried to flex both sides at the same time, which doesn’t claim for a strong confidence over the desing.
Or I just don’t buy a Thor. At that price point, I don’t want to mess with DIY. I’ll wait for a better design…
… or an Odin 3 !!
I should try use this more, find it awkward to navigate on Mobile though
Bookmarked, didn't know this site exists
fascinating, I use it on mobile fairly often and have never had issues
I just go to Games and search for the game I want to see
the horizontally scrolling table format isn’t ideal but I also don’t spend much time there
Doesn't block speakers
- Lets you type easily
- you can fold back the controller to type in portrait mode
you can type in portrait mode perfectly fine with the X2S
the speaker being blocked is a fair point, though I’ve not really noticed that issue
but the MCON is just very unergonomic and the weighting is gonna feel so awful
I'm waiting for a test by @cerulean rose
I hope he can order it and tell us how good/bad it is
I made several 3d printed slide out designs (8bitdo lite and lite 2, iine, and acegamer). I liked them until I switched to this new phone that is much heavier. Now I just stick to my x2s 😂
MCON might be slightly better because the phone goes up and tilts.
Yes I like that too
it makes it a bit easier to have the screen above and tilted this way
I will be selling my MCON when it comes. Couldn't cancel the backing. When from something simple to not what I wanted.
I get that. 😕
Who is this male Lara Croft wannabe ?
thats drake
Oh yeah, the guy from the Marvel movies.
No you're thinking of Drax. That's the guy from National Treasure.
Nah Cage is the guy from Mortal Kombat. You're thinking of the guy from The Rock.
Dwayne Johnson?
It's the EXACT same guy, there's no way you don't confuse them.
It's like the Odin 3 and the RP5.
If I got the purple one and black cover, should I ask them to switch to the clear cover?
Do those of yall that have a Odin 2 find yourself playing a lot with the cover?
Yep, the transparent cutouts on the Purple O3 here don’t bother me as much as they do on the Thor.
I really want to see how the blue will look now
I gotta say though, the Rainbow color option looks amazing, actually impressed with how that one looks
Ergo bumps look decently sized too.
Bit of a shame I likely can’t get this until around end of 2026 x)
Very certain I’d get this though even if the Odin 3 Portal became a thing by the time I do
Didn't see anything in the demo that shows Odin 3 doing anything the Odin 2 can't. I think I might just sit this one out and wait for the Odin 4.
Oof. Right stick ergo looks as bad as I feared on the O3 and also the missing height to rest it comfy in your palm.. 🙁
The O3 ‘will’ be able to do things the O2 can’t but those particular emulators aren’t mature yet. When gameshub and ps3 emu are mature then I’ll see a reason to upgrade past the 8gen2
It should have better streaming performance right out of the gate and it is more powerful in general. That doesn't mean a lot without driver support, that may/will come in the future.
If you're not interested in taking a plunge or just owning one of the first elite chip devices this is not the handheld for you at launch.
There are loads of question marks surrounding the Odin 3 which I find exciting. The Odin 2 line of devices is the best we got right now, so there's no reason to upgrade if you're happy with it.
Does it really?
It’s hard for me to tell without physically holding one and Idk how big or small this person’s hands are, but ergo bump + inset stick would still make it better than a Switch Lite ergo wise, wouldn’t it?
I might even find this more comfortable than my LCD Switch 1 bc it’s not flat
I wasn’t expecting this to be as comfortable as something like a Portal with a grip on anyways, but this seems alright for what I wanted out of a smaller candybar handheld that’s around the size of a Switch Lite
It seems closer to RP5 than it does to the Odin 2 or Portal
Nothing to do with hand size, but seeing how in the video he/she/they awkwardly try to reach the right stick is an indicator
I considered the grip part of the overall price. 🤷♂️
We’ll see I suppose.
I find the people from the companies in this space playing these handhelds hold them fairly weirdly in a good amount of the demos compared to how some if not most would
The only device I've used that didn't require a grip at all was the RG556.
Sure, I ordered the grip too. And the case for it. Yet I was hoping it could comfortably do without
Didn't look that bad in the fotos (without a hand for reference)
Fair.
It might be able to depending on hand size, but you likely already know if it will or not judging off the footage
I won’t know for certain personally until I hold my own unit sometime next year, but I’m optimistic
I have mediumish or just smaller hands. Might find it good without a grip
"Know" is a strong word. "Suspect" or "anticipate" might be more appropriate
I mean.. I like the RP5 without grips..
I use it a lot without the grips
True.
Could always try it without a grip and see how it does
But I hoped that the O3 might be a lot less crampy than it looks like in the footage
I mean, I'll still keep my order and I'll figure it out. It isn't like this is a surprise to me. Just wished the demo didn't harden my suspicion of it being a bit crampy
I kind of want to get a Switch Lite now and try that out to see if I find that comfortable or not.
If I do, I see no reason why this wouldn’t be comfy for me without a grip
I suspect part of the reason my hands cramp playing the Switch 1 in handheld mode is the flat ergos in combination with the bigger size
Without a grip, it's not.
That’s what I’m expecting since it’s still very flat, but it’d also be easier for me to play without needing to sit my arms on a desk
Which I have to do with my Switch 1 when I play it at work during my breaks or before my shift for extended period of time
I have a translucent grip, you can see the flatness of the Switch Lite.
Yeah, that’s still pretty flat
Still a lot more comfortable than without it. 😄
Oh no, I wasn’t referring to the grip
I meant the Switch Lite itself x3
The grip looks great
I like my Switch Lite very much but it has a few drawbacks : quiet but VERY small controls, horrible sticks and a very average screen.
Oh yeah, sorry.
You’re good! It’s my bad too for wording it weirdly
But yeah, my family has two Switch Lites. Think I’ll hold one for a bit to see what it’s like
(The RP5 is a damn fingerprint magnet. 😬 )
Weirdly the Switch Lite dpad's span is bigger but it's less chonky. I prefer the one on the RP5.
I thought about getting an RP5 last year.
Idk if I want it anymore given I only intend to have two emu handhelds at most, but it’s a great handheld from what I’ve seen
The Odin 3 bumps look more like the rp mini than rp5, which is good
A year ago it would have made sense. Not so much today.
It was the handheld to get last year. Retroid has a lot of catching up to do nowadays.
Fairly curious to see what they'll do with the RP6 pricing wise.
Given the current price of the Konkr fit, I think they might have to price the RP6 more competitively, but that Konkr price is Early Bird pricing, so there might still be a relatively ok price they can do.
Need to wait for Odin 3 Portal Thor
RP 5 is 199$ now. The RP 6 probably will be 249$ with a 10$ preorder discount I cant see them going lower
Portal would be a bit too big for me, but Ik that will be really exciting for a lot of people when the O3Portal inevitably comes out
Oh base price is actually $200 now?
Yeah all models except classic had a price drop last week
I've been hearing for a year how the rp5 is only "$200"
Glad its actually 200 now lol
865 Flip 2 also went down in price to $209
I expect the D1100 Flip 2 will also go down to $149-159 eventually once they run out of RP4P stock.
Bit surprised they didn't also lower the price of the lower spec model x3
Feel like that would genuinely be a nice recommendation as a first handheld for someone who doesn't want something lower end if they ever lower it more
to me it looks very close to the bumps on the og Odin 2
Ignore the bumps, the bumps on the back are fine.
It's the height (or lack thereof) that's the "problem".
The Odin 2 or Konkr or Logitech G Cloud for example you can rest comfortably in your palms (bottom left and bottom right) and gives a natural span and radius for your thymbs to reach everything without turning/moving your wrist much
On the Portal for example they have massive rounded edges vs the Logitech G cloud or the Ayaneo Evo, so there's nothing on the device that can rest in your palms making the device lower in your hands and your hands/wrists naturally turn in an awkward position when holding the device
The Pocket 5 requires a completely different style of holding it, but it's actually fine when you grt the hang of it - with the exception of the sticks being almost in-line with the abxy and dpad which makes you make your wrists turn and your thumbs curling in uncomfortably, almost crampy because they can't move in a natural radius
And the Odin 3 looks like the worst of all. Almost in-line, nothing to rest in your palms and big, chunky grips that make you hold the Odin 3 like a controller but without the room for you thumb to move naturally.
RP5 imho in that respect is almost better ergonomically. They have a reason for how and why they did those small bumps, because you need to hold the device differently entirely, mostly like the Odin 3 in the video. You "lay" it down on your curled fingers and span the flanges with your knuckles.
When doing that grip style, combined with it's 280g of weight it's actually pretty ergonomic given it's size
The Konkr went for the "hold it like a controller" grip which is different, but also great
Portal and now Odin 3 seem to have taken the worst of both worlds, lol. Too short with too big of ergo bumps.
But all of that is based on hypotheticals from one single video from someone trying to present it to a camera.. so until it reaches actual hands and reviews we can only speculate
yeah, in that regard it does seem closer to the rp5 than anything else

AYN Odin 3 🔥
The stunning AYN Odin 3 handheld emulation console ships late-November 2025 and Christmas has come early, if this official footage is anything to go by!
👉 Buy our no. 1 console recommendation, the amazing Retroid Pocket 5 (OLED with 400ppi - a higher density display than the Odin - better emulation than the Odin 3 and cheaper delivered!):
...
huh, that grip shape looks awfully familiar...
that actually makes me very hopeful for Odin 3 ergo
Thanks for sharing that. Not confident in the ergo. After going through a Portal and Mini, I'd rather have a device that isn't made with a grip case assumption just to hit a "thiness" selling point 😮💨
Right ? 😄
-# (btw these closeup renders are borderline pornographic)
seriously the shape resemblance is scary
weird thing: I’m a little worried that the paddles will mess with the ergo and/or I’ll have to unmap the paddles to prevent accidentally pressing them
I was thinking the same thing. We'll see when we receive them. 🤷♂️
-# (they really are fantastic, Odin 3 got that Corvette energy)
See what I mean ? 😂
-# (shoulda called this handheld Freya because she got them curves)
-# (okay that's enough tiny parenthetical text)
I used to have a rabbit named Freya.
She was both terrifying and cute.
Although I would never have confused her with a handheld.
sounds like an accurate embodiment of a Norse god, then
She was.
One of the smartest bunnies I'd had. We'd play football in the corridor.
(For those unfamiliar with rabbits : they're usually not the smartest animals.)
that's wild, I don't know if I've ever met a smart bunny
I'm not kidding, I got of one those super light balls you can play with at the beach, and I'd shoot it gently towards her. She'd wait for the ball to come, stop it with her front paw and then push it towards me with her snout.
And when I was ill, she'd sense it and come willingly onto my lap to soothe me.
I had several other rabbits before and after, but that one was special.
she sounds lovely
Looks wider than the odin 2, thats good it was my main complaint with it on ergos so this should be better
is that the famous "sleeping baby possition" grip design?
anyone else planning to order the white one?
these look sooo clean in white but i'm worried itll be distracting/reflective if i play in the dark
I have an O2 Portal in white, which is basically the same but bigger; it's totally fine, not distracting at all in any lighting condition, go for it if you like it
ohh nice ok that's reassuring
no plans on playing anything in 4:3 so this should be perfect
Btw if you guys wanted to upgrade your IGG pledge, you can’t. I had to have support cancel my pledge for the Pro so I could order the Max on the website. Lost out on the $50 super fan savings, but I really wanted the 16 GB RAM, oh well
I'm basically the same. They offered me to pay $90 to their PayPal and update my order that way. 12 GB RAM seems too low for the Elite chip, but losing that super fan discount hurts.
The superfan had limited units for each SKU, even before the recent igg change (and campaign ending there), you can't do a superfan upgrade to another superfan sku directly.
You have to place a new order (while there are still units available for the other sku ) and cancel the older one.
Email or ask Nicole if you can get the price adjusted to match your previous pledge
12gb should be fine. Covered ram usage in my Thor review and in what cases it would be worth it. Worded it pretty good I think on who should pick what.
You cover the Odin 3 RAM usage in your Thor review?
Na just which ram spec is worth picking in general for Android.
Same application applies to the Odin 3
You'll hit the bottleneck on the SOC far before needing 24gb ram. But storage is ideal either way since Windows games run so well on arm now. 16gb is the absolute max id ever get on an arm device.
I did see RAM sometimes get to about 13 GB on my S2, so I figured it’s good to have a little extra breathing room
I see, thank you.
Yeah 16gb is perfect I think. Gives you that extra headroom if needed. Even with trying to push my ram usage to the limit, the most I've seen is about 12-13gb as well, but that again was me trying to fill it out.

Have you tried playing something like FF7Remake on the Elite chip?
If so, how did that go?
I had Doom 2016 running but I don't own ff7 remake
Emailed support back, see what they say 🤞
Doom 2016 was very playable.
Good luck 🤞🤞
I think they'll do it for ya
They won't upgrade the SF.
I've tried to get them to upgrade my Max SF to Ultra SF a while back and they won't do it because of the limited amount thing, which is fair I'd guess.
They said the only way for upgrading SF is to cancel and snipe one if a slot opens up.
But who knows, maybe they have different rules for influencers.. 🤷 doesn't hurt to try.
Yep, this is what I got yesterday.
At least you tried. I'm sure you'll get your money's worth from it anyways.
ok, got my order in... this is gonna be the slowest month waiting for this thing
just ordered a 5070 yesterday i should cancel the thor
Hope it doesn't catch fire.... those connectors on that generation scare me personally
All the graphics!
Well with the ram on android devices the backend uses the same ram since theres no g-ram so with winlator running and the os your 16 becomes 13 just from running it, so for winlator use 24 has its applications for heavy emulation you can get a true 16 or up
And with the 8 elite there wont be bottlenecks on 24g because the soc supports up to 24g of ram from the Qualcomm page
