It’s a huge upgrade in quality to upgrade Retroid buttons with resin PSX (or any resin 3rd party design). I’ve found the upgrade is marginal on Anbernic because stock Anbernic is usually really good.

the d8300 will brute force what can be brute forced really, the games that run into "problems" are those that don't like being emulated or have shit compatibility with the Android emulator, the chip has more than enough headroom to run PS2 and Mali drivers are not really an issue with 6th gen, let alone is the emulator as insanely optimized for SD drivers as Dolphin is to show any noticeable gains with those

This is a custom made 4:3 screen by BOE. The Best screen company in the world. Max Zhou had to pay a few hundred thousand dollar for a few thousand screens, he ain’t getting them for $5 each (including developmencosts). To get his money back Max is gonna sell a few $250 handhelds first and then he will start selling the masses for $180 , $140 and eventually $100 and $75. Max is gonna milk this screen as much as he can.

Unfortunately runahead isnt available for PS2, GC, Wii, PSP, 3DS as those run on standalone emulators. And Android versions of many of those emulators have additional input lag compared to Windows versions. For this reason I play these systems on my Ally X which has a 120hz and advantage of running the Windows versions of these emulators.

But yeah for input lag 1 runahead frame is enough to bring the lag down to manageable levels this is why I only own a RP Classic for retro games up to PS1

Mario games for the most part run fine, but the second you try something like SMTV or even XC3, it falls off hard. I have owned more than 100 handhelds since 2001, and i can tell you now. The best “small. Handheld is the Retroid Pocket Mini . The best “normal” handheld is the Retroid Pocket 5. The best “bigger” handheld is the Odin 2 Portal. The 477 will be the best 4:3 only handheld, but it might be too Heavy. The Plastic 477 will surely be the Best Handheld to Beat ‘em All

Ok, so as-is it’s not too important for something like my handheld, but in case I’m not the only person who only just now realized this was in the Dual screen optimized version of MelonDS (which frankly is just an actual updated version of MelonDS in general), there is now the option to set the Red screen as being on top of the blue screen by default as well as reducing the alpha of the screen to make it see-through. This isn’t as useful on the Pocket Ace since I already have 3:2 and can mostly just have enough of the screen on the side, but it’s freaking huge for 4:3 android devices, and I just wanted to share it on here since, well, you guys would definitely enjoy the info more.

Long story short, this should function the same as those 2 layouts for Advanced-Drastic on MuOS and Drastic-Steward for OnionOS, which makes it way easier to set the screens up in a manner that makes the top screen be full size on 4:3 handhelds while still having the bottom screen visible.

I have a RP Classic for retro stuff. Input lag doesnt bother me because I use runahead.

I wanted to get a device for PS2, PSP, Wii, GC, 3DS. Was thinking RP Mini V2 but the screen is small and has input lag issues as those emulators are standalone so cant use runahead. Then I was thinking Flip 2 but that has hinge issues and same input lag issues. Finally was thinking RP5 but thats not really pocketable and again input lag issues

Now looking at the 477M that seems perfect, 120hz reduces input lag. Although its large its still pocketagle. I wouldn't be carrying it outside much just wanna pocket around the house.

But one thing I have heard is Android versions of PS2, 3DS, PSP, GC, Wii emulators have more input lag than the Windows versions. So maybe I should just stick to emulation for those systems on my ROG Ally

Have you tried those Custom Mali Drivers I've shared? Also have you tried using Nyushu, Sumi, and Uzuy? These have better Mali GPU support. They have GitHub Pages.

Ah I've seen those drivers before, unfortunately none of these actually work with our chip. They're also actually a bit old, they're just drivers taken from other devices.
I already did pull the latest driver from another D8300 device and applied it system wide

That’s how it is for me as well, there are no options to adjust things like aspect ratio. I haven’t delved into dev options but right now it’s an oversight that I hope Anbernic will address in an update.
