#Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie
675 messages Ā· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Oh its on Gamecube as well. Gamecube supremcy continues
That's the power of opposable thumbs. Stupid lizards never stood a chance
Let's go
I think this game has an FOV of like... 8.
So this game is on more than just PS2? Which version is generally favored, out of curiosity?
ps2, gamecube, og xbox, 360, pc. Seems like there are 2 pc versions. One more like the 360. One more like the previous generation. No idea what version, if any, are preffered.
iām definitely feeling like playing the 360 version. i got Rapidās approval for it in the other channel
The pc version that is a port of the 360 version is called "Gamer's Edition". I won't be playing that version because I don't wish to bring any more shame to my family.
Can I play as Jack Black tho
You play as Jack near Jack black
Play as Kong also
Can I play as you
The other 82 is taken up by Adrian Brody's nose
I'm going to guess the PC version isn't really sold anymore. I can't find anything for it on isthereanydeal
Man, this game is rough on NetherSX2 Classic.
Playing the GC version on Wii, only like 30 minutes in but it's actually really good
If I'm playing on an Ally what's the best version to go for. 360?
Also can't buy it digitally on Xbox, unfortunately
Oh, well, I guess I'll just emulate the GameCube version later on. Gonna do Dino Crisis first
Is GameCube the best version?
This was a neat game that was more ambitious and film-like in its presentation that I would have expected from 2005. It was frustrating enough at points I probably wouldn't have finished if not for gotm. I felt like I was always spinning 360s trying to figure out where I was being attacked from or where my ai buddies were screaming from. A more reasonable fov would really have helped things when you're Jack. ||When you're Kong,|| easing up a bit on the film-like camera angles and having better controls would have helped me enjoy those sections more.
My favorite part was at the end when ||Kong said ACAB.||
dang didn't know Kong was based like that
In this video, we're comparing every version of Peter Jackson's King Kong released for the Playstation 2, GameCube, Xbox, PC, Mac, PSP, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and Mobile
when playing on Xenia, the first level is apparently completely unplayable
so i guess that knocks the 360 version out entirely, unless youāre playing on OG hardware
and a disc-only copy is going for $35 on ebay so thatās out too š§
GBA version looks pretty cool, a Zelda clone with kong sections being beat'em ups
You can also throw this game a vote at GOG Dreamlist: https://www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/peter-jackson-s-king-kong-the-official-game-of-the-movie
So I watched some videos and PS2 seems to have better textures in some instances, but no lightning effects and worse antialiasing than GC. But GC has no retroachievements. Upscaling and antialiasing can be added through emulation, so I'm probably gonna stick to PS2, but gonna play first level in both first to compare first hand
it looks like iām going to be forced to play a last gen version. 360 through Xenia is borked in the first level, and I canāt get the PC āGamerās Editionā which is the next gen version, to launch. dang it
the gamer's edition is on archive, with the DRM removed, which is great. but i can't get it to launch. i don't have the know-how or the time to troubleshoot it
yeh just found it. i'm on my mac, not my pc. let me switch and see what i can find
Correction from first hand experience, there are lightning effects in PS2 version
This fov šµāš«
Damn, I just played two levels on PS2 only to realise I actually bought this game for PC back in the day and still have the dvd
apparently there are two different versions of the PC game, and they both (?) have malware-level DRM
Iām so lucky to experience ps2 Jack Black
So I never saw this movie. But, first impressions isā¦this rules?
Low ammo and being scrappy with the surroundings is a bit of a survival horror vibe
Who would win in a fight- 100 retro gamers or 1 large gorilla
So I think I got the pc version working. https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Peter_Jackson's_King_Kong_Gamer's_Edition
gorilla
Sounds like the gap between 360/PC and GC isn't that big so I might just do gc
Gamer's Edition is an enhanced PC port featuring visual improvements from the Xbox 360 version like high resolution textures, bump mapping, higher quality 3D models and 32-bit color rendering. However this version features worse character lighting and missing facial animations.
Turns out I have the EU 360 port, that according to PC wiki doesn't have drm? They say the crack are just eu version files. Got it to run, definitely 60 fps cap is necessary, makes performance much more consistent. But the general stability is very low, wouldn't recommend anyone this version for a handheld device. I'm gonna play it for now (sweet mouse controls), but it did crash once, and I'm kinda accepting the danger that there might be some issues later on that will make it impossible to finish.
I also read that the qtes in the PC version might be based around 30 fps lock and the timing fucks up if you play at 60? Not sure if that's true of both PC releases tho
Probably just gonna do GameCube. Looks marginally better than ps2 to me
I'll report when I get to qts
Since I can cap through driver, shouldn't be an issue
Yeah should be workable
I can tell you it was mess uncapped, it detected some non existing mouse input and my camera would just randomly turn every 30 sec or so
sooo has anyone tried the NA 360 on Xenia? Confirmed its basically no go?
š
Ah I see it now
I might just pop it on my ally to see with my own eyes, theres a select few 360 games i'd like to play down the line (eternal sonata, blue dragon) so it'll be a good learning exercise
someone on youtube mentioned a cheat code to unlock all levels and skip the glitched first level
but that feels like it would go against the spirit of gotm
tbf, from what I've heard, the 360 version is pretty visually weird.
Left is old gen, right is new gen:
Yeah I liked the ps2 version in my testing on my 556, looks great with the widescreen hacks and all that, models look really good
saving this for last tho, gonna try to run through Dino today on my day off
yeah that does look kinda funky
i remember the game looking like, the most graphically impressive game iād ever seen. wild how time has made that thought ridiculous š
the PS2 version has been fine so far. iām not very far in, maybe a half hour.
Gonna do some research for gotm š§ never seen the movie
Da Kong Entrance
Anyways
This game is rough on original hardware
Adopts the ādynamic fpsā approach
Having never watched the movie before, this game is surprisingly good haha
Jack Black is just CLASSIC
PS2 version has a sort of built in widescreen setting where you can set it to output in a horizontally squished 4:3 output and then it expects you to stretch it horizontally on your TV.. kind of neat and let's you play widescreen on emulator without a hack
Oh interesting, I've just been playing it with NetherSX2 widescreen hack and it's been fine so far, about an hour in
Didn't expect this was going to be my first of the 3 GOTM games to focus on but here we are
I think I'll do the same this weekend
GameCube has the same
That might have been Jack Blackās best performance ever. Heās really talented when heās not just a funny fat guy in a movie
You know what. I'm more familiar with PCSX2 than I am with Dolphin. I guess that's as good a reason as any to go with the PS2 version
Unless there's something that's way better about the GC version
School of Rock
I havenāt seen that since I was like 7, Iād love to see it again
i like be kind rewind a lot
and he was great in high fidelity of course but he wasnt the lead
From my testing, GC is better vanilla (without any emulation enhancements), if you want to upscale, add antialiasing, overclock PS2 is better, but I tested retroarch core vs standalone pcsx2, so maybe gc with enhancements is better in dolphin
In terms of performance that is
I had to drop to 2x in NetherSX2 on Flip 2 because any fire on screen caused FPS to plummet
what was the movie where Jack Black plays the funeral director? I remember liking that one
Bernie and yeah that one is really good actually
also directed by Richard Linklater (who did School of Rock too)
He was good in Never Ending Story 3. JK that movie sucked
Anyone else playing on original hardware?
Idk if itās just my GameCube or if the game just lags like crazy
I mean. I would assume unless theres a weird swiss problem or something that the game is just janky
Is there a preferred version. Likely just going to go PS2
Iām starting in on ps2
This is probably my favorite this month so far, throwin spears at dinos lol
Yeah getting slow down with fire and rain hmm
james taylor is in shambles rn
I think that's just how the game runs, similar experience emulating GC on PC, and overclocking doesn't really help
The Kong parts suck but playing as the dude has some tense moments
Btw we played 3 games directed by Michel Ancel, Rayman 2 -> Beyond Good & Evil -> King Kong
I'm going to be playing this today, I think I got the PC version working. š¤
Happy dino month. Hope you're having a roarsome time...
Anyway I'm going to start here I think. PS2 seemed to play fine on RP3+ with fast settings and Vulkan when I tested it before voting. Bit of chitter chatter above about slowdown later on though? So who knows. Let's see.
Yeah, so if anyone wants to play the PC version there is a copy on archive and then I used the community patches and it works like a charm. Just played the first 2hrs of it. The spears are fun and easily the best weapon so far in the game
Thank you for this. I will probably play on my ALLY. May or may not fiddle with Xenia just to see it not work with my own eyes
Not playing on original hardware but I get a decent amount of frame rate dips while still running at 100% speed on my steam deck on ps2. I think itās just the game
Kept getting slow down in ps2, felt like a weird emulation thing because I could pause the game and then itād go away after a couple seconds but I said fuck it and am playing gcn version now
I havent felt any slow down with the pc, but quite a bit of clipping and wonky fov
Probably the way to go, I just wanted to play on my handheld
The thing about them making you do this find the lever thing over and over is thereās like a million spears and bones Jack could just use instead
Cool another game || where I have to run in circles from a trex lol ||
I wad absolutely blown away when I played the 360 demo.
This is what they mean by "beauty fades, but style is timeless"
You on Ally or Ally X?
i havenāt gotten to Kong yet but iām not sure how i feel about this gameplay loop
solve brain dead fire puzzles and engage in constant brain dead shooting
is this the whole game, orrrrrrr
Nah Kong is brain dead mashing
z1e regular ally - but red confirmed that this game is actually just completely borked on Xenia. Said the first level is busted and you need to do a "Cheat code" to skip the first level to play it thru
Who needs frames when you've got MoNkE
Jackās constant panting reminds of Amnesia the Dark Descent
Ooof dolphin crash lost a shit ton of progress, thatās gonna kill my motivation on this for awhile. This game has the best dinosaurs of the 3 we played tho
Oh okay quick save and load is a different slot, lost a bit less than I thought at least
I was playing this last night on dolphin on my steam deck, I had some frame drops there too. Lots of fun though
I am glad I watched the movie beforehand, itās unique to see how they adapted the movie into a game. And it is impressive that they got the actors to record voice lines for the game
I was stuck at one of those for way too long. I wanted to just stick the dang spear in. Also as someone who gets motion sick, I have to look away each time we start to spin.
There are some that are back to back even and itās like, why canāt I just take it from the last one? Lol 2 puzzles in this game, find stick and make fire
My favorite part of the game is how often Jack black had to say his own name. I just pretended he was talking in third person
About to start this one soon. Is there a clear census between PS2 and the GameCube version?
So Ann can climb but I canāt even jumpā¦.
Itās that climbing rizz Kong canāt resist
Think I may like this. Just blasted through to chapter 10. Was weird playing as Kong
I'm definitely standing by it having the the most epic dinosaur experience out of the games we played this month!
So. Good news. Xenia is Xtremely easy to use
Bad news - King Kong does not run. Incase you are as stubborn as I am. The game actually launches and teases you. It runs GREAT. Then you get into the first level. Stare at the word Venture - and thats it. Nothing else works. It seems like a lot of "event triggers" are not working.
You cannot move or anything. Controls do not work. So yeah. PS2/gc or pc are the options here
Just hit a glitch in the GameCube version I got⦠thereās a event not triggering towards the end of the game I run through a wall from a trex and story stuff is supposed to happen but the characters just sit there -.-
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ahJyDE5OibM
Very helpful fix to said bug
A small video to show how to get past the annoying V-rex bug that forces you to stop and cannot beat the rest of the game. Easy and no cheats are needed. Yes, All recorded on the Dolphin Emulator and using the Gamecube version of the game.
Hope you all find this useful and can beat the game now! :P
-Awry
Dolphin Forums & Post I made about ...
This is in the era where bugs obviously can't be patched out, and quite a few games that were pretty borked. From Jack playing on his GC it seems like this game is sorta Janky
Whatās weirder is canāt find any reviews from the old days complaining about frame rate dips
Guess was expected back then
"Game runs flawlessly even on last gen hardware its a real looker"
Tbh I don't really ever recall reading about bugs, glitches, or poor performance in game informer as a kiddo
I had it for quite a few years
Finished it up, enjoyed my time with it, ||sad ending||
Wow Ch 11 fire fetch was cheap trickā¦
Jack's strongest power is their shortrange force grab, those spears feel like they materialise out of nowhere
...wait. there's a PSP version?
Now I wonder if it's any good/eligible for the point
(PS2 looks like the only version with RetroAchievements tho)
This put me off trying the PSP version
"The PSP version received mixed reception, mainly for a shorter length, as well as cut down features from the console and PC versions."
ahhh. yeah that'd do it
This island is incredible...
Why does Kong feel so weird to control
Like when GTA IV came out and they leaned a lot harder into the kinematics and and the stiffer, less arcadey car physics, it feels like that when controlling them.
I'm torn on how I wanna approach this. Rg35xx H is my only retro device and I'm not a fan of console emulation on pc.
So I'm kinda stuck with the stinky PSP version. Unless the GBA version counts for this xD
Though to be fair, I haven't done a whole lot of research on the differences, so many I can enjoy the psp version with ignorant bliss as to what I'm missing out on
āThe PSP is an older-gen console compared to the main consoles the game was initially designed for. The PSP also has really tiny discs that probably didn't fit much data on it, so the game needed to be condensed if they wanted to create that version.
There are no AI non-playable characters, a lot of the enemies and boss fights were cut out, and there are only 16 stages to be completed instead of 40.ā
idk man doesnāt really sound like the way to go
The AI team mates is a big loss, I'm not sure I would enjoy the game without Hayes shouting JACK! every 2 seconds because he got himself spirited away by a centipede
Or Anne lighting the torches for me during the puzzle lol
Ann is infinitely more capable than the rest of the expedition combined, and its not even close.
So much for my ignorant bliss š
man, just tried to stream king kong and it crashed like 3 times and glitched once. When it crashes you have to do the whole level over again
Yea, psp shouldn't count cause it's half the game
Unless the person who nommed it wanted the psp version to be played
Aren't you playing the patched PC version?
Do you think thats cause of streaming?
If so I may just go with PS2. Was hoping to play the old "next gen" version but seems like thats not a viable choice with emulation
What if I played both the psp and the gba versions? The combined total playtime would probably equal one game at that point xD
Whoa is that the official guide for the official game of the official movie?!
Not even the official guide acknowledges the PSP version, come on man š
Didn't take long to break the game...
Bro, just put the spear in the bag
My take was gonna a relatively fun, short and tense experience with a suprising amount of polish. Until about chapter 26, and things just started getting buggy and I started noticing weird things (dont look too close at spider swarms).
Definitely a junk food game but quitr a lot of fun so far.
It was funny how they used the spider swarms to tell you you were supposed to pick up Anne back there lol
I laughed so hard. Oh seems like we are the only thing standing between ann and getting devoured by spiders at any given moment.
Six chapters in so far. May 3/3 this month.
This game is living up to how I remember it so far, quick pace and I can talk over important dialogue by declaring how much ammo I have over and over
Iām playing the gamecube version and havenāt had any issues so far, I figured it would be easier to play on my flip 2 than the ps2 one, and also itās the version I played as a kid
I'm really quite enjoying this. Suddenly finding myself alongside a herd of brontosauruses was cool. These millipedes are making me jump though. Up to chapter 13 I think.
Millipedes arereally impressive for the time, when they fight each other its just a mess of kinematics but it looks sick
I hate those things
Yeah I am, I dont know what is s
causing it
damn cat hit enter on my kb
This is the most powerful shotgun of all time. Can toss a few dinos 10 yards with knockback.
Woah! Spoilers!
Well now I know King Kong makes a cameo in the game. Completely ruined the surprise for me >:(
This is so very true
Storm time at the beach = Kong time at the beach
Oh shit, Adrien Brody and Tom Hanks' kid
Adrien Brody had a kid with Tom Hanks?!
I'm having a pretty decent time with this one, but there's way more spear chucking than I anticipated
It's basically chuck spear, conserve ammo, chuck spear, have to shoot in a tense situation, run out of ammo, chuck more spear

I liked the FPspearing. You can use the spears to spike grubs and fireflies and then pin bait places, too
Just finished Chapter 11, looks like there's nearly 40? Hard to say how much longer this is going to be, given the variances in chapter length.
Thereās a few quick ones towards the end if I remember right
where can you see what chapter youāre in?
As far as I know, only when you beat the chapter/start a new one
I'm still enjoying my time with this one
||Traipsing through the brontosaurus valley to snag fire, to then hike all the way back through dinos and impassable foliage|| is some devious shit. Lack of ammo certainly heightens the tension.
the performance issues are dragging this down hard. i donāt know if itās inherent to the ps2 version or if its emulation-related, but the slowdown is nuts.
also iām only in chapter 12 and this game feels like itās gonna last forever
dropping the resolution to 1x seems to help with the slowdown some at least. makes things uglier though
The slowdowns seemed to be related to fire and water. The fire does get a lot of use in this one.
when Kong first showed up just before you control him for the first time, i thought the game was going to crash it was lagging so hard
I played PS2 version on Steam Deck. It played mostly fine. Rain and Kongs fever mode made some odd visual glitches or slight lag but not terrible
I normally limit wattage output on PS2 but didnāt for this game to play well
i suppose i could try turbo mode on the odin 2
Mostly trouble free on the O2 Portal, some chugging when there's a lot of enemies on screen with fire but nothing terrible.
Slow down helps with spear aiming
Damn how many chapters does this game have
what settings are you running? iām on nether, vulkan, 4x upscale. slowdown galore
44 i think?
I think I just passed CH13 and started this one because itās ā6 hours longā
exactly where i am too
Iāve been playing this at 2.5x resolution and seems fine
At least the chapters are short
Nether, Vulkan, 3x upscale
Just finished CH 21, calling it for the night.
turbo mode does help on the o2.
still not perfect, but less annoying
itās weird hearing the fan on the o2p. I hardly ever have to turn the high performance mode on, and so the fan is always mega quiet
Only just learned during the ||triple V-Rex fight|| that Kong can go into a Fury mode
This is where I just finished up last night too. I did find a shotgun in a crate along that stretch somewhere. And also learned that some of the dinos won't follow me into water.
It is really tense!
fighting the rexes as kong is so janky.
I am playing on GameCube hardware. Itās really bad either way slowdown
Oh, I thought it was my old SD845 dragging game down
I WAS TOLD THIS WAS GOING TO BE LIKE BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL
i made it to ch 20 this morning. feels like iām finally making decent progress
So far I like the cinematic feel of the game , but I have a hard time trying to look in the direction I want . Aiming higher in particular is difficult
It feels too long, I think I'd like it more if it was half the length.
Done! Better than it had any right to be. Still thought it was a bit too padded/long, especially since some chapter take 5 minutes and others take 20+. Could've condensed some areas and made it feel like a tighter experience.
Also, a lot of the time this felt more akin to a survival horror game than it did an FPS
the limited ammo definitely makes it feel that way
but there are too many baddies for how little ammo there is. it makes things more frustrating than fun imo
Yeah, I spent more time looking/praying for ammo than I did actually using any
iām about half way through. iād say i like it okay, but i definitely donāt love it
It's better than it has any right to be, but yeah I didn't love it either.
hey find a bone pile = infinite spears lol
on to ch 25. i should finish this tonight, or tomorrow at the latest i think
then itās back to Mario Kart
the game could definitely use with a good trimming.
Iāll DM you my friend code if you ever want to play some knockout tour
Finished with King Kong, the airplane and gorilla sections sucked the most, the FPS side of things wasnāt too bad, except for the fact that the FOV is horrible
And I think this was the start of the PS3. Xbox 360 era where everything looked drab and brown
Definitely felt the grey brown wash of that gen lol
the game doesnāt have any color at all besides brown and orange
iāve made it to nyc but have to stop for the night. iāll wrap it up in the morning.
Just started this game and it's got me hooked. Really enjoying how it's not a mindless shooter, gotta use ammo accordingly and know when to rely on spears or projectile weapons.
Seems performance issues trouble all versions, but trust me, you have seen nothing if you haven't played that PC version. I had two levels that legit rendered at lower resolution than I had set up, nothing you can do, finish the level and then it's back to normal on next level. And the swamps level was literally 10-15 fps
Switched to PC from RP4Pro because performance wasn't great and couldn't be bothered to transfer save to Steam Deck. Even with upscaling to 1440p, damn this game is ugly
It is not a pretty game
Lol it was once upon a time
Surprised to find out the game is 20 years old.
Damn I have only rp4pro
It was all right until I got to water
performance was so rough in the ps2 version on an Odin 2 that playing it on an rp4p would terrify me
Maybe I should have played the GameCube version .
Too late I am not starting over
Oh and I realize too late that GameCube is rated higher .
folks itt have said that performance was no better on gcn, even on native hardware. itās just this game
Canāt handle the Kong
I was playing GameCube version
But the emulator was showing 50% performance at some parts. Even if real hardware gets 10 FPS in some parts, it should be showing 100% in the emulator
Made it up to the rafts. Not enjoying this at all. It's ugly and buggy and combat is annoying. Feels like I've played for a long time but not much progress actually
playing the PS2 edition on a handheld with VRR, blessed š
can VRR fix the game dropping to sub 15fps?
Chugging through this bit by bit. A little over half way I think - currently fending off a massive dinosaur with some sticks while Ann opens a gate very slowly.
Have been quite enjoying the Kong bits picking up teeny tiny Ann and delivering her to teeny tiny fire to unblock my path.
Just started this one on steam deck ps2. So far enjoyable but finding frame rates drop badly during setting fires?
yeah thatās typical
Wait until you get on water ā¦
Felt like past the first couple of missions the slow downs stopped. I also set it back to native resolution. The game was a good time though
I decided to watch the OG 1933 King Kong and then 2005's version as well before jumping into the game. Both films were pretty good, although 1933 Denham was a much better character than 2005's Jack Black. I also think they unnecessarily humanized Kong in 2005; you feel bad for him at the end of 1933's version despite not having Ann juggle for him and shit lol
Classic case of - the new movie has a lot of advancements and is a visual feast - but the storytelling is always better within the limitations of the older film.
What's up with having a character called Jack and the other character is played by Jack?
It's funny comparing that to advancements of video game storytelling. Older games: storytelling is absolute shit. New games: storytelling is absolutely long as shit, and it's still shit
I think. Limitations typically breed creativity. Not always, but often. I think all the technical advantages of today breed laziness
Again - not always, but somewhat often
Something something rose tinted glasses, something something
Stuck in only the 4th mission, Jack and the other guy aren't showing up to lower the stupid bridge
After I set EE cycle rate/skip to 3/3 I was able to finish the game on a D1200 (gpd XP+) with relatively ok performance.
I think this game hammers the EE, changing the resolution for me did nothing
But well, the game was fun but the ending felt rushed
I played the PS2 version because of those juicy retroachievments points
I didnāt understand any of that . The setting tweak game is out of reach for a simple mind like me . Dino crisis worked right away so Iāll be playing it instead .
Starting the PS2 version of this later tonight, played the beginning and it seems solid enough on the Steam Deck
Not a fan of the Kong segments. Feels awkward to control. Gimme my spear and rifle, I'm good.
About to get good
Finished this crap game. Good ideas but holy hell the performance sucked
It wasnāt the airplanes
It was beauty that killed the beast
Beast being framerate and beauty being fire/any effect
"about to get good" in the last 5 min of the game
Love that setup, though š„
Finished! And I still stand by liking it
I am enjoying the story and the gameplay, but the framerate drops really impact the immersion of the game. I am by the brontosauras walking by section
I wasnāt sure if the frame rate was because of the device I was playing it on or not, but I guess not
I donāt remember caring about frame rate when I first played it when it came out
I'm gonna rip through this one very soon. Might start tonight. Seems mostly everyone is doing ps2/gc?
I really wanna try the pc version on my ally but Ange here was saying it crashed a bunch
Yeah. I looked through some old reviews and nobody mentioned the frame drops at all
Yeah I think for the time it was a lot more acceptable
āThe frame rate really makes the Kong scenes more cinematic ā
āFelt like playing the movieā¦.if Jack had hit his head too hard and kept repeating two bullets on backup to everyoneā
Don't
What are your findings lol. Sounds like its pretty bad. I didn't listen about the 360 version not working on xemu. But yea it don't work lol
Second swamp level on PC was literally 5fps, nothing you can do, set it to 640x480, everything lowest setting and still 5fps, didn't want to play half of the game again on other platform so I kept pushing, thankfully it's a level with 3 other npcs that killed dinos, when two sections later game went to 15fps, I felt like I ascended to paradise
Level before that, was crashing the game when I was picking up Anne, but managed to get her to die by going forward with kong, and then it respawned me at check point with kong already holding her, so I managed to finish that level
Regular pc, amd gpu/cpu
Wooooof
Yeah that can't be good if you're playing on a full desktop
Wondering if this game was this broken back in the day? Seems like it may have been
Thought that it may be amd issue, but people with 3070/3080 report the same thing on the web
Thats insane. Yeah i'll just do ps2 on my rp5 then. I'd really "like" to play the next gen version but it seems like unless you dust off an x360 it aint happening
360 version I have some nostalgia for and I don't think I ever finished it
Honestly I think it wasn't as bad back in the day, like I'm sure it was broken and unstable, probably ran at 25fps or smth but I don't remember games in 2005 running in 5fps and not being ruined by reviews and no reviews mention that
So probably some random directx thing, maybe if you have this one particular version from back in the day it would be fine
Well...Jack played on his gc and clearly it didn't go so well even on original hardware lol.
Seems like this game just chugs and people didn't even care lol
I also emulated first two levels at gc and ps2 before I found my PC copy, and yea, both unstable, though I was upscaling and not running at native res, but ps2 seemed better, like it drops frames, but gc straight up slowed down
....noted lol
I'll probably give ps2 a whirl starting tonight. Hopefully it goes by pretty quick
Not super stoked on this one. I think the consensus is the game is "fine" but yeah performance issues are rampant
Yea, the levels are short, pacing is pretty quick, good pick up and play game, though if you quit mid level you have to replay from the start
Yeah I mean I think ps2 w/ save states should mitigate that thankfully
Steam deck. Not gonna miss hearing JAAAAACCCCCCKKKKK at 5 FPS
gc had higher lows in the drops than ps2 for me on my 556
So far this is better than I expected for a licensed movie game, but just barely. The racist tribal caricatures caught me off guard, having never seen the movies
Started the ps2 version last night on my RP5. Suuuuuper trippy visual glitches at 3x opengl so I switched to 2x on Vulkan and we're in business.
Played about 2 hours give or take. About 1hr 15 mins into the 4hr longplay on youtube. Game should go by pretty quick. Overall so far it feels like it very quickly is turning into a reptitive soup of just "greenish/gray textures" and chuck spears, burn bushes, open gates, run to the next checkpoint
Its not a bad game by any means but nothing really exciting going on.
Funny how the game became a slideshow once I got to the brontosaurus section with fire and raptors happening at the same time. š¤£
I've noticed a few random dips but so far ps2 version I haven't really noticed any "issues"
I had one crash on the gc version, and some minor slowdown at the beginning of the cutscenes/load screens
Is the ps2 for all intents and purposes identical to the 360/pc version other then graphics?
PS2 using a 8840u win mini on native resolution.... it's good for majority of the time with minor dips when a lot is happening.
I was initially concerned about the length of the game with 39 levels/chapters but with each being like 5 minutes long it should go pretty fast
Uhm. Has anyone run into an error where they're stuck in the first segment as kong?
The controls in this game are actually....terrible?
I know I have to like slide down and over
But I just....can't?
Kong controls are abysmal, couldn't have been happier to get back as Jack.
Had a similar issue happen on a different chapter, apparently I didn't trigger an event to happen to allow me to move forward.
Ugh. Nvm. You have to go over to the side but the game forces you over to the wrong side
Even though in some playthroughs folks seem to just jump that ledge and go right to where they need to go. The controls to get over to Ann to scoop her up were also horrible
As jack its not great...but tolerable. Kong they arbitrarily force you into weird little predetermined "tracks" that make the game feel "bad"
Just had a glitch lock up the game where the Kong Jaw-snapping animation just froze up, didn't save or save state at all today so I've lost all progress I've made
The problem with the kong sections is that they tried to make them as cinematic as possible, at the cost of playability
Theyāre very hit or miss
For a licensed game was actually enjoyable. The storyline was movie level great. Gameplay wise wasnāt too bad - most of the times balancing spear action and saving bullets. The only let down was the FPS issues.
VRex was the highlight of the game
Tbh no one is really harping on it, i'm not having many framerate or performance issues. The controls just seem...poorly implemented
Other then that to me the game is "fine"
At the last third of this game, didn't go in expecting to like it as much as I have. Despite its flaws it's pretty awesome.
Very enjoyable and Jack Black did a really good job of making Denham look like the absolute asshole he is.
I only had teething problems with kong, jack handled pretty well
Did any of my suggestions help at all?
Indeed. Enjoyed it immensely as a result. Much appreciated š
Oh hell yes! Happy days! Im glad
Don't know how his camera survived all that he went through. Should of just used it as a melee weapon
Camera is the most important person in the expedition, if you believe denham.
Goes to show I need to brush up on my emulator tweaking abilities but I'm happy to have learned something new.
Dont fly too close to the sun, you'll spend more time limit testing than actually playing.
Depending on your device there should be some community spreadsheets about that will catalogue performance and if person providing the info is any good at communication they'll break the settings , rom region, under/overclock settings etc.
Like for example for t618 devices the Retroid Pocket 3+ sheet is a pretty good litmus test:
Finished. Generally had fun with it, couple sections got pretty intense, which was nice. But pc version had so many crashes, performances issues and bugs I had to work around that impacted my experience negatively.
I'm looking forward to the end of this, it's not been a bad experience but the gameplay loop of setting brush on fire, finding a pile of infinite bones to stand on while being assaulted, and walking slowly though water is getting a bit thin. Kong sections are even worse since it's just a drunk dad simulator (rage, punch, and awkwardly swinging around)
Having to redo 10 chapters probably didn't help the replayability either lol
If I had to redo the raft section I would be pissed off also.
good god, FORTY CHAPTERS?
after 25 they are quite fast
i swear some of them are just walking down a path
Alright, starting this one tonight. How bad is it? š
Its not terrible
I'd say 6/10...maybe. no worse then a 5
Performance hasn't hindered me yet but I did have one crash. About 80% through the game
- Kong controls like crap
- Jack controls "ok" but not great
- The game gets tedious by the
time you're 2 hours into it - sometimes you "die" because one of the other idiots is being attacked and you cant find them in time
- most of the game is really easy / linear with no collectables or reasons to explore
- a few sections will require a few replays
Not great. Not terrible
What about the movie? Is it worth watching? Iāve never actually seen it.
Just finished it. Expected to hate it but it grew on me. As mentioned it has imperfections but I felt the good outweighed the bad. The length of the game was just right, thankfully.
I loved the movie as a kid, haven't rewatched it in a while but my only complaint was always that it was too long
I'm about halfway through. I give this game a sepia/10. My favorite line is when Kong said "It's brownin' time" and then browned everything real good
Its 3 and half hours of running through the jungle getting attacked by giant creepy crawlies and dinos. Its a spectacle movie through and through. Its well executed but holy shit, we all know this story.
I never loved that film, but it's good for what it is, I guess
So I was..... Maybe 11-12 when this came out? The movie being Peter Jackson was a huge deal at the time after his LotR fame. I was a kid and haven't watched in in 10 years but I remember thinking it was a pretty decent hollywood action film
I do not recall it being 3.5 hours long though so. Yeah
That might hinder it a bit. Its not a bad movie. Movie > The game
most likely anyway. but thats typical with big budget films and tie in games.
I was living in Indonesia when it came out. My family always jokes about a dinosaur stampede and I still donāt really understand since Iāve havenāt seen it. I feel like captain America whenever they bring it up. But I still havenāt bothered to watch it ever.
Indonesia must have been a cool experience. You're not missing out on a lot. It was a big deal at the time but no one really talks about it now
LotR is better because of all the lore and everything. This is just a thing that exists that was a neat reimagining of the original movie
Yeah, thatās kind of what I figured. Maybe Iāll see it someday. But Iām definitely in no rush.
And yes, Indonesia is an awesome experience. Lived there for two years and Iām fluent in the language. Good stuff.
never seen teh movie and after playing the game, still don't plan to.... felt the game was good enough, plus i hear Kong does not even appear until after the 1st hour out of 3 š
Something something exposition something something setting the scene
perhaps, don't need an hour to see people board a boat
To each their own
It's really a 3 hour movie? Gross. 2 hours is already pushing it
Peter Jackson having an overly long movie and being proud of it in 2005 is pretty much what i'd expect lol
Honestly, Peter Jackson should just make a 6-hour Kong movie now to one-up himself
Wow this game is starting to over stay its welcome haha
Well, I finished chapter 2. Itās okay ish for now. Already had to quit and restart because of a bug. After seeing the airplane, nobody would come help me with the door pillar things.
Five bullets in back up
"It's ok I've got enough ammo."
Yeah, I know. I play RPGs. I'm not using a single bullet if there's a pile of sticks around
Infinite dino bones is a god send
I was waiting for someone to send this nonsense lol
Oh this film is on Netflix right nowā¦
Lol liquid - Its SOLIDLY aight. Don't have too much fomo about it
Man, the extras in this game are lazy. "Play the game again, and this time we'll give you points! Redo the whole game to get a bonus ending!"
I think my favorite part is Carl saying his famous line
||it was beauty that killed the beast. No Carl you asshole. You killed kong by capturing him and taking him to NYC||
Yeah I really didn't get that line
I MEAN the whole thing I guess is that
||Kong wouldn't have let himself be captured if he didn't love Ann or something. IDK the original was just a "Creature" Film where this one spent most of the film humanizing Kong and setting him up as a tragic misunderstood "villain", and then making Carl the "Villian" for trying to cash in by destroying something from nature. Idk you could write a whole paper on this, but whats the point lol.||
Yeah them too
Yeah it just makes no sense. Like, ||If Kong wouldn't have come to save Ann, then his horrible line could have been "It was savages that killed the beauty." Like, Ann says she's going to summon Kong to help and then Hayes sees him and shoots him. Why? Is the movie anti-human or something?||
||I mean again I think thats the point. This one REALLY REAAAAAAAAALLY wants you to be like. "Maybe the monkey isn't so bad, and we need to take a closer look at ourselves" - This is also a trope in and of itself "The Monster is really the one in the mirror"||
I have a hard time keeping characters straight. Itās super confusing to me that Jack black isnāt the character named Jack. š
It also didnāt help that the whole little intro movie before you start seems to focus on Jack Blackās character, and then you donāt actually play as Jack Blackās character.
Looks like my Odin 2 and the new version of nether arenāt sup to the task at normal settings. Anyone got any setting advice?
This game certainly drags on
Y'all are really making me scared to start it
I think Iām in chapter 7 now and it really isnāt bad. Itās not anything like super exciting either but itās fine.
Can you really only carry either the pistol or the shotgun? Not both?
You can carry a Dino bone or spear and exactly one gun though.
Is there one gun that's better than the other ammo-wise?
Because a pistol with 40+ bullets rn is a bit more appealing to me than a shotgun with like 8
So far, it really doesnāt matter much. None of the guns are enough of you use them exclusively. Just pick one and then use infinite Dino bone piles. Your gun will likely be replaced before you really feel a need to use it.
But in only in chapter 7.
Okay, good to know
Yeah I didnāt really bother too much with ammo conservation
Shoot āem or lose āem seems to be the mantra.
Have you considered that it's okay and I have enough magazines?
Are those little cutscenes that show the map progress the chapter transitions?
Ah, yeah, I guess I'm on chapter 5 rn
This game doesn't look half bad - I remember it being an Xbox 360 launch title but the PS2 version holds its own
The gameplay, itself, is kind of lame though - leave it to Ubisoft to make a King Kong game where the lamest part of it is playing as King Kong
What chapter do you get to play as Kong?
Give it about...oh. 20-25 more chapters lol
It takes awhile. Like... the first kong chapter probably takes 1.5-2 hours to get to in the 4 hour youtube long play
When you're in full motion as Kong running along the walls and swinging it's a sight to behold.
It's authentic to the movie
And impossible to control
Why canāt I use one of these spears or dinosaur bones I find as a lever to spin the stupid pillar gate things.
Hey we all know Macguffins are Macguffins even if you have something that would do the same thing
You lied to me. Itās like chapter 9.
Okay, ten. Still.
I have to say, this game does feel a lot like I'm playing an action movie rather than a video game
Which I have to presume is very intentional
The lack of an HUD, simplified health system, and verbal tracking of ammo by mag count are all fitting design decisions in this regard
-# two bullets on back up
Plenty of spears and dino bones
The levels go at a reasonably brisk pace
Yeah, I did like 7 chapters earlier, gonna try to do ~5-7 per day and that should get me done in time
At least the shotgun stitches up dinos nicely. Kind of satisfying actually
I'm not yet feeling a Deeper Artistic Value in this game but so far it feels like it's doing a good job of translating "straightforward popcorn action movie" to "straightforward popcorn action game"
It's weird how sticks are stronger than handgun bullets. Then shotgun is 1hko
Also, how come stabbing is useless, but throwing is so strong? Pretty senseless
The answer, as you might all already have worked out, was Vulcan backend
Up to chapter 28 so must be getting there now. I've been nursing this one all month in little bits of time here and there, which has been fine but in hindsight has left me a little bored of it now.
I do still find the smooth action with which I can grab a stick out of the ground in a fraction of a second while standing anywhere vaguely near it quite satisfying.
Sorry liquid. Swore it felt a lot longer then that.
To be fair, chapter 9 almost feels like the halfway point. The game felt really slow for the first 15 chapters, then I was at the end in no time
How do you tell when youāre at the end of a chapter? Is it just the map screen?
Yeah. Then when you load your save, you can count how many chapters you've done as you pick the chapter to start from
There's like a good 10 or so chapters that feature zero combat
Made it to chapter 22 last night. Things have finally picked up pace a bit. Iām tired of slowly moving through water and throwing spears at centipedes.
Immersive or not I had to have my aim sight turned on š
Yeah, I enabled that the second I saw it was an option
That was an option...?
Yeah, Iām gonna have to go to options now. I didnāt see that.
Iām surprised heāll pick up and play friendly. This game is though. With all the checkpoints and saving working at checkpoints, itās actually pretty easy to just pick up and play for a few minutes and then put away.
There's an option to add a crosshair and one that adds a permanent ammo count at the top-right
As well as 16:9, which was nice. At least on the GameCube version
I saw a 16:9 one on PlayStation, but I donāt think the other stuff is there? Unless thatās the inventory option. The option screen is very sparse.
I guess aiming visor didnāt make sense to me before starting the game⦠is that it? And inventory shows ammoā¦
Fetch quest for fire made some sense for the setting. However, fetch quest for a stick in the jungle
I thought the game was fine enough overall. Wouldnāt go back but didnāt mind playing it.
Great game. Good physics.
Yeah, "aiming visor" is just a crosshair when you aim. And inventory is only an on-screen ammo count
Weird wording, but both were off by default on GameCube. I was stressing about no crosshair in the first encounter
Probably done for the afternoon, Maybe play some more later tonight. Just finished chapter 29. 10 more to go, I think. I really thought I'd have left the island by now, but nope.
Yeah, much better to have both on, I think. Very handy to be able to see your ammo, and the crosshair is nice. I felt like I didnāt really need it, but it feels better with it.
Have just got to the plane and Jimmy is just standing there like a plum. Not getting on and plane not taking off. Maybe I just need to reload.
Did happen to me aswell. Had to replay the level
I've had a number of times where someone should have doen something to allow progress and they won't whether it's jimmy getting on the plane or hayes or carl not helping with a door, or a door not opening on it's own that should... For those, you can usually save, quit the game, and you'll be back in a good state when you load. When Kong is doing flips in the water, you're stuck though.
I had one instance of that kind of thing and posted about it here #1378537313910526062 message
This is the game tho lol. It does get old quickly
I've had some fun with the kong bits. He contros bad, but it's still pretty epic and fun. And this bug just killed me.
#1378537313910526062 message
The amount of bloom is def something of its time, I feel it's in full blast when playing as Kong.
Hell yes! Got the same bug in the exact same place! Forgot about no autosaves and lost about an hour or so.
I habitually save about every chapter or so, so I only lost like 15 minutes. I just cracked up at the hilarity of it all. Definitely a buggy game.
Until this shit started happening I was going to prause it for being suprisingly polished and bug-free. Then it happened again and again. :/
Yeah, they aren't like the worst bugs ever, and with the checkpoints they give you it isn't terribly awful, but sure could have used some mor polish.
My favorite part of the game is how you're on a tropical island but everything on it evolved to be brown
brown or gray.
Is anyone going for the retroachievements? Specifically, the score attack ones that unlock after you finish the game?
I did the easy retroachievments, but not gonna hurt myself doing the rest
To me I always saw this game as "gray green" like a weird dull greenish hue
I think they were going for sepia but couldn't get it quite right
My wife just rewatched the first twilight movie (Guilty pleasure or some shit idk I was scoffing hard) and it was also quite clearly in the same thought process of every x360 and ps3 game for the first few years where everything is either gray green or brown
Since I finished now, I can comment on this. || The line is in the original movie too. I think itās more just supposed to be a comment on love in general. Because of love, moms will sacrifice their lives for their children. And Kong sacrificed his life protecting Anne. It may not come across well in the remake I suppose. Since Iāve never seen it, a canāt say to that part, but I think itās more just supposed to be a comment on the power of love in general. ||
And down
Ending commentary ||yeah this feels like a dig at how humanity really likes to destroy shit in pursuit of $$$||
I never knew before now that PJKKTOGOTM was an influence on Red Dead Redemption 2
Turok could learn a thing or two from this "Jack" fellow
I swear at one point I housed like eight whole-ass dinosaurs only using BONES
It was funny to me that bones/spears were the most effective weapon. Youād think the Thompson would be, you were basically shooting BBs or something.
I'm on chapter like 18-19 now, just finished the second Kong level. This game is honestly a blast, whoever said it was a popcorn action game was right. Having a good time so far
Your enjoyment is directly tied to how fun you think it is to swim in water and throw spears at centipedes. š
Overall I enjoyed it. Itās nothing amazing, but Iāve played much worse licensed games. This is one of the better ones, honestly. Not amazing, but entertaining at least.
I think my favorite part is when you're walking through brush or water and you can't tell if your movement is slowing down or the fps are dipping lol
Super disappointed in this one tbh
Mostly because I was expecting BG&E
But the game just abruptly ended
I also clipped through a building, fell into the event horizon and had to restart, so that was fun
#1378537313910526062 message
better than this?
Rofl
I just kept falling and it sped up each time until Kong was flickering at an amazing rate
Like a two second fall animation that got faster each repetition
Like portals above and below each other? Sounds pretty sweet. The bugs mostly made me laugh in this game. Funny stuff.
Yes exactly
I wasn't even really mad
All the previous glitches were just scripts not firing
This was the first pure physics fail
Everyone has to experience at least one break dancing Kong bug.
Ann yelling at Jimmy like he was going to die and Jimmy is just standing there
Apparently waiting for the croc that was supposed to do a jumpscare
Also let's talk about Kong
What was his endgame with Ann?
He was going to climb to the Empire State Building and then ride the sun to tomorrow with her in the palm of his hand.
My kids laughed when watching me play because any time I was kong and had to pick Anne up, Iād just comment
oh wait, canāt forget my tiny girlfriend.
Lol
Was Kong going to try to smooch her, or was he just intrigued with a blonde lady in a slip made out of kevlar after years of tribal gals?
I would have tried to put the moves on 2005 Naomi Watts, but not to the point where I had to fight dinosaurs and shit
I think he was just going to eat her. She was just that unique candy you get every now and then that you know is going to be delicious, so you just save it for the right moment. Eat a few more tribal girls first, then savor that pale blond nugget properly.
He just lured her into a false sense of security first.
Oh man, Naomi Watts is way older than I thought
She was born in 1968
I thought she was my age
No idea. I was going to guess early fifties, just based on when the movie came out.
Zu is going on a Wikipedia journey
Oh shoot, Gollum was Kong
Giada's grandpa kept the franchise in development hell for years apparently
Andy serkis? Huh. Go figure.
Anyway this game was nothing like Beyond Good and Evil and I'll never trust anyone in gotm again
Zu are you effing with us or did someone actually say that
Cause if they did those are good drugs. Very good drugs
Also Kong thought Ann was a hottie. Big ape love tiny girl. Silly
We were quite possibly bamboozled
Note to self: Do not trust Jaylash's shilling XD
On another note, I finished Dino Crisis tonight and was thinking I'd start in on King Kong tomorrow since it seems beatable in a week. Between the PS2 and GameCube version, which one is more stable and less likely to have weird random glitches that make you have to restart a level?
Or should I go with Option C: Skip this one and just play something good until next month rolls around?
I mean, it is the same director as in bg&e, doesn't mean it will be a similar game
The same director also did rayman 2
Yeah. Idk. This game is "fine" I just feel it brings nothing to the table. Minimal gameplay variety, short loop of find fire or lever, kill dinos or bugs. And thats basically the game
BG&E was pretty decent but obviously they had more freedom there
I think the movie seeks to setup and establish that all the other super sized gorillas have died and Kong is left alone. The sacrifice of people seem to be how Kong socializes is the idea I took and thus heās more than monster (a kind of what we learned from Dian Fossey or the movie Instinct)
What confused me most from the movie was the āruined civilizationā across the whole island. Where did those people go?
eaten by dinos I assume.
Yea but that would be the question in the first place. Presumably the Dinoās were there when they built. So they seemed at some point to completely control the island. What changedā¦
With the giant gates and wall that surrounds the whole island it seems there were very big animals present when they built. I personally kinda figure like Aztec disease is somehow what did it
there are a bunch of kong skulls laying around when you have to sneak in and rescue Ann, but that's all the game says about it
i didn't see no robo, mecha kong. Explain that!
Think I'm on like chapter 29-30 now, I'll probably try to wrap it up tonight/tomorrow
"We're downwind, they haven't smelled us yet". Yeah cool Ann, I probably still wouldn't have advised running straight toward the dinosaur but let me go get a stick to save you.. again.
i got a bug late in the game where Anne just kept walking straight into fire and dying. Youāre supposed to wait for the fire to subside, and then walk, but her AI kept deciding to just walk straight into the fire. Nothing I could do. I donāt remember how I got past that part.. I think one time she just stayed put until it was safe to cross. Super frustrating.
Ok Iām legitimately scared Iām not going to complete this before month end. Iāve just got past the ||giant dinosaur|| for the first time ājust cause a distractionā FML
Nah, if you play 40m a day you will be able to finish it just fine by the end of the month.
I've just finished up and if it helps your motivation the last 10 chapters or so felt significantly quicker than the average from earlier in the game.
There's apparently an alternate ending you can play through where you ||save Kong||? Might do that later as I did ||feel a bit sorry for the old chap||.
anyone else feel the city chapters were underwhelming? Felt I was more lost than any other place, was a lot of trial and error.
I think it was the constantly changing camera angle that made that a bit harder to navigate (for me). Still found it quite fun though.
Yeah, it was probably that. Was def fun swatting the cars, but now that you mention it the camera angles did throw me off
Itās really not a long game. I think I just beat it over the weekend. Donāt give up. It just drags. The game isnāt long, but it is repetitive.
Thank you, Iām actually not minding the repetition as much as you might expect
You have to replay the whole game and it gives you a score this time. Need a certain score to unlock the alternate ending. It's pretty dumb
Oh well that's.. that's a lot. Nevermind then!
I have no idea how the scoring works, but I also have like zero desire to find out. š
Yeah you got this Dan. The longplay on youtube is 4 hours. It probably took me 5?
I think Iām like 2-3 hours in, which is the problem (Iām team no-guide)
You're already after the midway point
You don't need a guide. I was just referencing it to see how much longer until the suffering was over lol. Reason it took me about 5 hours is just a few areas I died a few times, fought the controls, or couldnt find where to go
But yeah you've got plenty of time if you already have 2-3hours in. 2-3 hours MAX and you've got this one beat
just tryin g to beat one game this month to continue streak this one is much more my speed then the other 2
even if its mid
Yeah this one is a super doable "FPS" and is relatively short - but yes very mid.
Ya iv not been around cause a few games outside have taken over my life lol I swaer iv not forgot about yall. But gotta make sure I keep my strick
Its fine JC
You left us in our time of need
like the prophet you were destined to be
@abstract brook I will rise again š¤£
Easter has passed
More of a JC Denton
I started playing this today. Itās actually pretty fun, but a bit dated.
Done. Had fun
So what does "Aiming Visor" and "Inventory" do in the options?
Imma guess aiming visor gives you a visor to help aim
gives you a reticle and gui readout for ammo
aka breaks the cinematic immersion intended by Peter Jackson
immersion breakers neat.
I like that there was no HUD in game or aiming assist in the game. Made it fell more real.
Finally finished the game. I enjoyed this one, and this makes for my first 3/3 month
Just finished it as well. Pretty solid game!
Lol I only saw this now when you linked it in champions. What a sight to behold!
Reminds me of the moment I had in the snake boss fight when 5+ snakes were just ragdolling around Kong. They didn't seem to receive damage or anything, they were just bouncing wildly
Maybe I too need to set a screen record hot key
LMAO I had a point when playing as Kong where I fell over into the water, slowly slid into the ground, then shot straight up in the air lmfao
The waterfall fight as Kong against the three dinos was glitchy af for me, completed it three separate times and Kong would glitch out and float off into outer space...
Or start doing front flips into the waterfall. Comically frustrating
You experienced Peter Jackson's true vision that could only be experienced through the medium of video games
this was definitely one of the games of all time
Latter half is so unbelievably glitchy. I think at least half of us had that exact glitch in the same place.
Yeah I got frozen with the third dino 3 times. Even showed the wife just two creatures spinning in place lol
I was so mad, I hadn't saved
Yeah, thatās exactly where I had issues too
It cost me about 20 minutes, more frustrating than anything
Game was mostly fine for me, except one part where you have to jump to a tree in the middle of a lava lake and then jump to an opposite wall. Jumped just fine the first time, and then just refused to jump. Ended up taking like 10+ attempts of the same thing before Kong decided to jump to the wall and not just fall into the lava
Yep that whole stage is fiddly as all hell
Finito!
I had to redo the part where you jump between walls and the bats fly down the middle right when you need to cross like 5 times before I got it
It seemed like no matter how I timed it, it wouldnāt work, and you couldnāt just wait for them to pass because it wouldnāt knock you off the wall
Thatās interesting. I got through that one on my first try. I didnāt even know the beats would knock you off. I just jumped to the other side at the earliest opportunity, because why not? The other path was running out. I guess I lucked out on the timing.
Yeah, the answer was just doing it earlier than I originally thought I could do it.
I did it @abstract brook I get to stay a champš¤£
