#Anbernic RG Slide
1 messages · Page 4 of 1
Idk could just be my settings but it struggled a little bit with gow
GOW is one of the hardest ps2 titles to run
And nfs underground 2 but most of them are actually fine
But yeah I bet you could play every ps2 rpg on the t820 no problem
And the gta games
Unfortunately you need pressure sensitive buttons for the metal gear and silent hill games 😦
And most of the sports games
But yeah for me no analog triggers + compact control layout = rpg + 2d platformer machine
To be honest would I play sports games on anbernic rg slide idk but action games you see me there
Especially fighting games
But sports games maybe with psp version
It would be my new Mr driller machine for sure
With the hidden controls and 4:3 screen I might actually load it up with old 4:3 tv shows
King of the hill baby
I was going to say that I would use this a media player
Good mp3 player too if the headphone jack isn’t terrible (retro handhelds can be pretty hit and miss on that one tbf)
I guess for media you could use Bluetooth
it might be good for old tv shows but with it likely being lcd I feel like your phone would still be better for media consuption even if 4:3
unless you're a black bar hater
compared to my phone you would only get 0.3 inches of area extra on the rg slide
and yeah I would rather take amoled over that extra 0.3 inches
happy to be proven otherwise though
For me the difference is fairly stark, but also especially when travelling I try not to use my phone for anything other devices can do to make sure the battery stays fully charged in case of emergency etc
what kind of crazy phone are you using, most have 21:9 displays
iPhone 12 mini
But yeah I think it might be closer to 21:9
Doesn’t exactly change much
also fairly basic screen size for phones these days
Yes
Idk using lcd screens would be fine for me
wow, you got a tiny phone
my phone is 20:9 6.5 inches
4.4 inch screen size for 4:3
*Josh
Mine is 3.5” for 4:3
Josh if you see this love you ❤️
And I would go smaller if I could
Phones being silly massive is a pet peeve of mine
I love the 3:2
My iPhone 4s was the right size for a one hand touchscreen device
To be honest it's been a while since we got phone being small again
The foldables are maybe going in the right direction - the small ones are what I would consider a sane phone size while closed lol
I guess in your case this device makes a lot of sense
I pray to god it's 3:2 even though I know it's not
I have a gen 1 pixel fold and I use the smaller screen on the outside more than the inner one
Jelly Star
Thought about it
I love those filp phone this is why I don't get why apple is so boring sometimes
I get hand me down iPhones for free though
I dont think it could be 3:2 could it? Looks like there's two lines on either side that it would cover up
It would be 4:3 I'm confident about that
yeah I don't know why they put these huge bezels on the device
could easily house a 3:2 display
But what I really want to do know is are they actually doing it with 120hz
4:3 >>>>>>>> every other aspect ratio in a retro gaming device
And yeah I also hope for 120hz
Will help for ms dos stuff a lot, as well as general motion clarity improvements
4:3 > 16:9> everything Else
What if the reason they’re hiding the bottom bit from us is that it doesn’t have gamepad controls at all, just a QWERTY thumb keyboard and a track pad
also 120hz devices tend to have lower latency
First retro handheld designed for kb+m games wen
It would be crazy if anbernic is putting 120hz
It would be more crazier for retroid yet to put 120hz properly in retroid pocket 6 soon
The size and shape of this does work with the rumoured 4.7 inch 120hz 1280x960
One thing tho anbernic is actually good when it comes to screen on their handheld
Rg406h really appreciate their work on their screens
Put the shame on retroid sometimes
what can you do with 120hz on android anyway?
Smooth swiping
Wasn't there a black screen 60 hz thing? Where it would blink black and screen for Perfect CRT effect or something
Tho, i heard like in an rg557 review, that their oled can be a hit or miss, and the older version/test unit had colder, and the newer had warmer screen, if i remember correctly.
And sometimes the ips bleed.
I feel it's not important but it's does the experience more faster more smooth swiping and Even make the gaming smoother
Unfortunately yes it can be hit and miss
A lot of ms dos games are 70hz - still not perfect on 120hz screen with v sync but a hell of a lot better than on a 60hz one
atari lynx and was it wonderswan were 75hz
50fps pal games will also be much more even pacing on a 120hz screen vs 60
Basically anything that isn’t exactly 60fps
100%
I literally forgot about this
A lot of pal exclusive amiga games
This would help massive when it comes to pal games
If you want to play Turrican 2 your options are pal amiga, 70hz cga DOS, or the weird edited version for Genesis/snes/gameboy with missing some levels and a few new ones reskinned into a movie tie in for the van damme movie universal soldier
This will probably also be great for scummVM 4:3 games with the touchscreen (playing with the controls away)
Imma play gobliiins 1-3
4:3 was confirmed by wildlee
Black frame insertion is possible with 120hz to reduce motion blur but on such a small screen the motion blur reduction is not that noticeable imo
Thank you! That's what it was called
End of this month!
I thought it will be 1-2.5 weeks from now. Based on their yt videos.
anbernic has never dragged us along that long have they?
like a month from teaser to for sale is normal for them
or less
(once something actually goes on their youtube channel, not max zhou teasing people on baidu)
first time they use the masterpiece title
They seem pretty proud of it, assuming everything goes well they should tbh
is it tho
it's just logical
not typically but then again the teaser we got was not typical
I'm guessing this is not months away but also not coming immediately
gonna post this again
So
Touch sticks??
Pretty much a Xperia Play with modern version of Android???
Or what I'm looking at

Sonys old patent on the sliding mechanism
No clue, most of these Chinese companies don’t seem to care about copyright anyways
Copyright doesn't really apply there yeah
I think it doesn't apply, as long it isn't exactly the same
But maybe it’s related to the fact that Anbernic will start selling their devices in Best Buy soon. Maybe they want to start getting bigger in the west and want to do it professionally
I can see what is going to happen on YouTube by then
"Buying the NEW BEST BUY CONSOLE! is it any good???"

lol
That content is quite lame
patents have nothing to do with copyright
Patents is what I meant, sorry
anyone familiar with the 557 recognize anything that gives away whether this is a d8300 or not in that vid?
If the administrator didn't release any misleading information, it should at least be the t820 chip. It was previously stated that AnbernicAI would only be equipped on the t820 or above.
yeah I'm just hoping for t820 over the d8300 for battery + price + gammaOS reasons
Should be t820
You talking spicy
ah no its 1280x960
Or we get two tiers like we did for the 353 line
Even better
Same leak back to last month
960p 4:3 4'7 120hz
In fact it's even output 960p sounds like a diss to me 😏
oh cool thought the recording was as-is, nice
If you know if you know
maybe thats the case lol
hmm spicy AI ero text
https://tenor.com/view/drool-spit-homer-the-simpsons-gif-3974820
oh nice, so 4.7" screen is basically confirmed, exciting. I think when closed it could be similar size to RGB 30, of course the screen is wider but on the other hand the controls are hidden:
So anbernic is basically dissing them 👀
it could probably do this but you need to tap the screen to advance the next page translation
That screen is so perfect
so if I were to save $1 per day until new year I should be able to buy V2 of this right?
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Anbernic is being cheeky of this 😜
That's just a Screenshot from his phone not the rgslide
Sigh one can hope
dont you guys have PCs
Now Idk if it's the game itself or something but it's outputting 680×480
Even the phone would tell you that anyway
was just wondering how many use discord on mobile. I hate it haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But yh if it's saying it's 680×480 but it's 960p panel then it could be a game itself or something is going on
Don't want to alert too much but it's raising questions
Oh, so better dpi, nice.
I mean, 960p is 2x480, so maybe the recorder program tought, that it is 480p?
Properly yh
I'm not too concerned about it or even worried
Since it's anbernic
dont make me hope! waiting for some official update.... 🙂
I thought so
yeah anbernic staff do blow smoke sometimes
im also waiting
Okay I checked original video it's 1280 × 960p
Rah discord is funny sometimes
It's funny that it actually output 1280 × 960p not a false stuff
watch people complain it only runs it at 26fps next
😏
So H700 confirmed?

🤣🤣🤣
were these actually made and sold?
yes, was not sold very well
they sent out sample to some content creators at the time
huh, interesting... 🙂
it created some hype at the start, just took too long to put on sale, people just lost interest
later on there was some videos from a chinese OEM accepting order for oddly similar product with little interest, it's on youtube if you can find it
Damn the specs are taking time to slide in
anyone finds that funny must be over 40 with at least 2 children
damn....3 more years for me
19 more years for me
🤭
i give you that, usually Anbernic releases more infos 2-3 days after "teasing" us 🙂
Anbernic AI? What the hell am I looking at?
seems like auto screen translation of some kind
like the ones people use to play japanese visual novels
It's same anbernic ai that use in rg557

nonono
lamb is an admin of qq group who often leak some information
maybe anbernic staff
but also blow smoke sometimes
Okay Lamb of the leak
I mean, if it's t618 that would be fine, not great, but quite frankly, we would only lose GCN
he said something like "we wont use h700 again"
but depends on the price naturally, a t618 device in 2025 should be $100
Okay I believe when we see that
I feel like I’ve heard this before
But secondly is lamb actually real that it's t618 or he is playing around
'All you need to play is a shell and a screen'
He is funny for that
Now I'm thinking about it it can't be t618 because they haven't updated the software for t618
I have a feeling this will be priced really bad
Oh don't worry it would be 200
Especially if it's actually with 120hz
If Im not wrong the 'lamb' guy is maxzhou himself and he trolls often so there is still a chance that its more powerful
Well yes but maybe the screen could be true if d8300 can't suit the screen 🤔
no
but lamb and maxzhou both troll often
maybe its a kind of company culture
You think they actually right about d8300 not being suitable on this screen
I am now more confused than I was before about which chip is this going to have
sounds like they are saying this will have a weak chip?
man that will be disappointing if so
understandable, but disappointing
(side note, this lamb dude reminds me of Chris from Retroid, same sort of fuckery)
I was suprised that Chris decided to come back, I thought he was leaving after the whole RPmini screen fiasco
At the cost of what the t618 still sells for.....just give us the t820
I think he is trolling, it's stronger for sure, maybe its T820 (I would also be suprised if it's g99 because it's slightly weaker and they don't have experience with it, unless it's super cheap now or sth)
I bought my kid a 12" Tablet with a g99 in March......its still a Relatively pricey chip but better than the t606 in his old one for sure
G99 is quite good, I hope we will get it in more mid-range handhelds this year like the (hopefully still) upcoming Helegaly K560
you know, if it's t618, g99 or similar then there's no need for active cooling
yet the teaser does show air vents
it doesn't make much sense
I'm gonna go ahead and choose to believe it's still the d8300 until we see more evidence to the contrary
T618 had air vents tho right?
At the time
the rp3+ didn't afaicr
The Anbernic t618 ones did maybe? I joined the hobby with the rp4p lol
I think G99 would still work better with vents, less throttling on higher end systems
Better Battery life for Long term Playablity and less spicy pillows lol
that's fair, you are right there
Tell you what tho, 3ds Games on my kids g99 12" tablet are amazing 🤣
I thought they didn't, like rg405M was removing the heat only using its metal shell
I was asking because I had no clue lol
rg405v has air vents
T618 apparently couldnt be Throttled at all
Dont think the 505 did?
But I think it was because they didnt want to put so much heat on the screen
(the chip was right next to it)
I rather have a Fan, and drain some Battery....than have 0 fan and risk a Spicy pillow faster
Using t618 would be more disappointing than Using g99 or t820 chip
I’m fine with t618, g99, or t820
Whatever gets me gammaOS
I’m gonna be using this thing for ps1
For me, if this thing cant do decent PS2 it had better be under a hundred bucks. Otherwise whats even the point?
I don't disagree but knowing anbernic it would be 100 plus since it's custom panel and it's xperia play clone
Of course it would be more dissapointing, its much worse at PS2 and Gamecube than these two chips. But the other two would be dissapointing as well if we cannot push higher res
Actually nope t820 and g99 is more than fine for me it does the job
T820 can play the vast majority of ps2 and gamecube titles at 2x res which is the panel res
it's android so it will be rk3566
If i want to play PS1 I can use one of my actual PSP Go systems. Or any one of the shitzillion other small and weak devices out there.
Exactly
sucks for all the h700 stans
Thank God
Pcsx-rearmed was a mistake, it’s made people think the mm+ actually plays ps1 well until you run into the dozens and dozens of games with serious accuracy issues on that emulator
It’s the Yabasanshiro of ps1
If you want to run beetle psx with a crt shader there’s nothing under $100 that can do it
Or standalone duckstation with upscaling
And it's true it's reason why people would buy retroid pocket classic for a reason as well
Yeah for me this slide tease + gammaOS for my 406v has put buying the classic on hold
D8300 or bust , this slots in the high end category so it should have a higher end CPU
OK, so maybe T820 would actually be a good idea after all, probably even more exciting because the price would be cheaper
Actually nope
Even if the price were the same for a t820 and a d8300 model id still pick the t820
Better battery, less fan spinning, gammaOS
they should just release the specs, come on Anbernic
The problem with d8300 to be real with you is it's doesn't move me enough when it comes to ps2 and gc
Theyll release a gameplay video and we will know.
I know it's silly but more that I learned about rg557 and the chip itself the more in fact you needed high performance mode to get the best performance for a chip should supposed to do it own is bit disappointing
And rg557 sales is not doing hot at the moment
there is RAW power with D8300 but drivers & "right execution on the Code function might be missing"
Exactly and people need to think if anbernic use d8300 people would look at the price and say yh see you later
Android is never gonna be actually good for ps2 until we get a properly maintained FOSS ps2 emulator on that OS and I like dolphin on the t820 but it’ll be limited for the same reason on this it is on my 406v - digital triggers.
Yeah d8300 for $250+ would be a dealbreaker for me with all the firmware problems
While t820 for $199 or less this could be my endgame with gamma lite on it
Exactly
Would replace my rp5 and 406v
Retro life "there is no endgame"
While being pocketable enough that I wouldn’t need my 34xx
For me this is my end game
Wanna bet on it
Straight up I don't really need anything else than pc handheld and rg slide
And switch 2
Absolutely
I been waiting for xperia play clone since I was little kid
Retroid pocket mini was close one for me
Tablets have replaced larger handhelds for me tbh
For retro stuff anyway
Not related to here, but Samller Ayaneo DS with Snapdragon future, I am waiting for
Y700 and 13” iPad
Lenovo making a controller case for previous models would be more sick
The new controller case works with gen 2/3/4
I have a gen 2 and I’m 100% gonna buy the case
Lenovo have G9 controller case for y700 2025
Yeah the g9 works with the s8+g1 or s8g3 ones as well as the new sd elite one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqNrFbbP9b4 --- looks sick for sure
This is not a gaming handheld, but it happens to be the most powerful gaming handheld today.... confused? Watch this video to understand what I am talking about ;)

But I was thinking tho I do need a pc handheld is it worth for me to get it y700 and controller case
Tough to say. If you have a beefy desktop and good in home wifi (and only want to use it at home) there’s an argument any compromises from streaming are less than the compromises from running those pc games on a tdp constrained pc handheld
I dont own a desktop atm, my home wifi sucks, and I do take my ally X outside the home regularly so I couldn’t switch to streaming. Hopefully we get better tools for running steam games on android soon.
Don't even have a pc
you can get g99 tablets for 80-120bucks
Oh lol, don’t buy a streaming handheld with no desktop to stream from
brand new?
yeah
I'm in such an awkward spot personally, no interest in playing anything 6th gen or more modern on a handheld so basically anything beyond t618 is just for shaders and saturn
I should say on a retro handheld
well in that case anbernic doesn't have much of an excuse to sell it for more than around 110 dollars
I'll play GC/PS2 etc on a PC handheld all day
Only I got is my xbox series s and streaming it on the phone btw is pain and error
You are not wrong
dedicated 4:3 retro handhelds for me have one job, to open retroarch
Well as long it's full psp for me it would be fine anyway
oh man I just realized this screen is perfect for 4:3 NES
integer scales vertically 4x and horizontally 5x
Galaxy Tab A9 is probably the cheapest G99 tablet on sale for less than 100bucks + coupons you can end up close to 80, otherwise something like the Doogee T30 Pro is like 110-120 these days, so you can get a fairly powerful tablet for lil money
unfortunately Anbernic probably is going to charge more like 140 for a G99 device
Yeah I wanted a Galaxy Tab A9 until I've realized the screen like like 800p
a tablet has no business steandecking
You know the main Goal for me is playing classic andorid games and Java games on this including retro gaming like until psp
🤣🤣🤣🤣
the y700 is just the no brainer for a mini tablet imo
if you don't want to spend the money on a current gen one, get a gen 2
1600p, s8+g1
it costs the same an a legion go 😭
the gen 2 definitely does not
it's relatively small so the 800p is fine, also the Android build is way better than on those China tablets, so it pulls of GCN surprisingly well at 2x a lot of times
Deffo not
I only buy expensive technology used and in facebook marketplace for example they cost the exact same
yeah you're looking at people who got scammed buying the western release gen 3 for double the chinese price and expect to pass that scam on to you
the 'I don't know aliexpress exists' tax
but yeah if you want to do something like showing pictures to someone, the Doogee is way better with the big high res screen
oh yeah FUCK these people, I'm looking at aliexpress rn and the y700 gen 3 costs the same as y700 gen 1 on facebook marketplace USED
Yep yep
How well does the 8 gen 1 model run switch and winlator stuff?
is it worth getting an 8 gen 3 instead?
Actually fine especially with the switch
It depends if you can get it cheap
what used price point do you recommend looking for?
I don't really know what to look for
and asume it's just a horrible deal to buy cause of the scams
For 8 gen 1 deffo under 300
But why? its an honest question, there's so much different ways that you can stream now, not only from PS5 and Xbox, but also using GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud, Amazon Luna, even PSNow, not everyone like Russ lives on Hawaii to have problems with latency 😄
I am now even streaming Doom Dark Ages to my desktop PC via GeForce Now because I didnt like how it looked and performed
can't stand the idea of relying on third party subscription services
That makes sense, but on the other hand I think the cost might be similar to what you would pay for energy bills when streaming from a super high end PC
😉
Xbox cloud is absolutely shit unless you use the thrid party app and playstation I only got good experience with playstation streaming anyway
that's actually part of what I'm concerned about - these services are not profitable currently so they're gonna get more aggressive trying to monetize them and they will get worse.
Yeah, thats why I used Geforce Now to stream Doom Dark Ages, my PC handled Oblivion Remastered and Avowed well, but Doom was just too much for it, it seems 😛
Also the problem is I don't want it too look like shit and I can't play Doom below 60fps
Oh, I agree with you philosophy, even the idea that we won't be able to own our games in the future just rent them using services is frightening, but to be honest I kinda like using it now when they are still cheap, especially if I'm on a business trip and far from my pc
Would you guys rather use the y700 screen or the odin 2 portal screen? One is lcd 1600p the other amoled 1080p
I pick y700
I can't lie y700 is different gravy
1600p + 16:10
I think Y700 is more versatile as well
It's same panel as legion go screen
I'm a pretty big fan of oled technology and I always considered the odin 2 portal to be the crown jewel of screens but I'm not sure
Don't get me wrong like ayn odin 2 portal is nice and 120hz amen but y700 screen you can't beat
what do you say about the rog ally screen? cause I think I much prefer the screen of my switch oled tbh
how much the the legion go beat out the rog ally with it's screen?
I spent $245 on Amazon because:
- 12" vs 8"
- 12gb RAM vs 8 & under, plus better v ram options
- My kids has a 12k Battery in it, which for him is everything between Games & Videos lol
- It's a 4k OLED tablet that prob won't need to be upgraded for 2+ Years now
the legion go screen is probably the nicest LCD on the market
(same as the y700)
the rog ally screen is kinda mid other than having VRR
big bezels
the problem is the ally X trounces the legion go in every other category
Claw 8/Lego S screen is pretty damn nice
Ally screen is nice nice but it's mid compare to legion go screen
fan noise, battery, controls, etc
Plus native landscape
It's a much more multifunctional device so there's that
I do love the legion go form factor
but I am vehemently against fan noise
to the point where I really hope we get good pluvia/steam for android/winlator/gamehub/something to make playing my steam library on an android handheld easy and seamless (with steam cloud saves)
so I can just use android tablets for indie pc games
I'm okay with fan noise since I've always been a desktop gamer. Only thing keeping me from fully commiting to the legion go is the battery life
it is absolutely horrendious
The weight is fine though since I would be using it placed on my lap
no fatique that way
Here's my take, the rog ally x is overall a much better handheld, but the legion go is better as a pc
fair
And I'm still frabberghasted lenovo never made a keyboard attachment for it
I'm sad the go 2 is going down in res though
a go style tablet with a keyboard case that attaches via the controller rails would be my everything
for oled I think it's worth it
as is I've got a y700 with an x5 lite and a folding keyboard
that all fits in a small sling
I just cannot justify paying more than 300 dollars for a portable machine that doesn't play pc games
winlater is not good enough
I agree with this
yeah I meant a pc tablet like the go
Legion go = good portable pc it's works
But as a handheld it sucks unless you install steam os or bazzite
Compare to Ally
There's stuff like that on etsy
maybe I should've gotten the go over the ally X since I use bazzite anyway, but the speakers/fan noise/not great dpad scared me off
The speakers could be problem but legion go with bazzite or steam os make more sense it's like true bigger steam deck
if bad dpad bothers you just buy the legion go and attach the g8 plus
g8 plus has a really mice vita like dpad
doesn't look like it holds it that securely
the go is both thick and tapered
Which part don’t you agree with ? The D8300 or high end slot ?
I just don’t think with a sliding mechanism even with a lower end CPU and supposedly a custom screen this will be cheap so might as well go all in with something with a bit more performance hellI wouldn’t mind a SD G1 gen 2
not with that mindset it doesn't, we need some good old 3d printing and this issue is fixed
honestly the go gen 2 might be in my future
it would be the best all in one device for me both modern and retro, I'd probably even use the fps mode since I like vertical mice
my future too.. in 5 years
🤞 they fix the issues with the gen 1
once legion go gen 3 is on the market I can maybe think about getting a gen 2
Easy there the gen 2 isn’t even out yet
yeah I'm just trying to describe how impossible gen 2 is for me
TBH not even sure if the gen 2 is enough of a upgrade for me personally, yes OLED and bigger battery is nice but kind of underwhelmed with what I’ve seen from the HX370 and expect the same from the Z2
extreme
battery life is going to be a major upgrade
which is basically the main issue with the original go
on max tdp it has 40 minutes of battery life which is absolutely unaccaptable
The D8300
Agree but already have a power bank that kind of negates that , like I said earlier bigger battery and Oled is great but not sure it’s worth whatever the cost is going to be
Yeah I should wait for a z3e before replacing my z1e ally X but I also kinda want to switch to the tablet like form factor of the go so I’m conflicted
Well doesn’t have to be a D8300 but something similar in performance, preferably SD
that's exactly what I'm thinking and why I'm not a fan of the ally x
Well tbh there's very little benefit to running it past performance mode, 30w doesn't really give you much more performance
what is the max tbp recommended?
20w iirc
The problem is anbernic is not like retroid or ayn where they change their chip on their device cycle
Secondly d8300 having problems when it comes to firmwares
Snapdragons are overrated. If you get a more open one like the 865 sure but the new G series chips are even more locked down and limited than unisoc
snapdragon is only needed for pc gaming and switch gaming
Will be interesting what final specs are for sure
some snapdragons have support from cfw, custom drivers, and other community efforts despite Qualcomm, not because of them
Their laptop chips are even stuck on proprietary windows on arm copilot infested slop
From the little I’ve seen the G1 gen 2 in the Retroid Classic is pretty decent when it comes to compatibility for the most part but I might be wrong
It has a super weak gpu (not that it matters outside of shaders on a stickless handheld) and zero cfw potential
I would have easily paid $50 more for a classic with the 865
As is I would’ve preferred the t820 for gammaOS and a better gpu for shaders
That’s fair but personally really don’t care for CFW and just use stock firmware , I don’t use these for hours on end so it’s good enough for short play sessions for the most part
no way
stickless 865 sounds so stupid
Why
the power is wasted
I’m willing to pay to actually have firmware options, actually run Saturn well on the Saturn themed handheld, and use the good crt shaders instead of only the lowest end ones
It’s $50
To get basically the perfect handheld for all stickless systems rather than a flawed one you’re gonna want to upgrade in a year
You could use hdmi
Buy once cry once
I don’t care about ps2 and im willing to pay for a premium experience on older systems
are crt shaders really that demanding?
Too demanding for the barely there gpu in the classic
The 865 can comfortably run mid tier ones the classic cannot
beetle saturn is more demanding than ps2
Even it can’t run the super beefy crt shaders
Plus for me you would have ability to dock the device if it was sd865
CPU wise yes, gpu wise no
That's why it's big miss when it comes to classic everything is fine but not ability to dock the device is kinda criminal yk
It's little things that makes retroid pocket classic more perfect
I don’t even care about the docking but the g1 is so locked down even retroid seems incapable of pushing firmware updates so it never got the back/home button fix the flip 2 got
well to be fair you can make the arguement that 865 would still be a good fit for 2d switch titles but then you encounter the issue of the aspect ratio
So there’s no way to use the function key for hotkey enable yet
I buy retro handhelds to play retro games, a nicer retro handheld is to play those retro games with more accurate emulators, more accurate crt shaders, better controls, better screens etc - not to play more modern games.
There’s nothing wrong with having cpu/gpu power to spare, especially if it means being able to run more stuff on power saver modes for longer battery life
You can make even NES hard to run if you really want the most premium possible experience
yeah but having the option to play more modern titles is always nice so your handheld isn't only "retro"
Like megabezel shaders in 4K will bring most desktop PCs to their knees, fans spinning up just to play duck hunt
i always thought ps2 was retro
well if russ were to make a video about a stickless 865 device he woukd likely be very critic of it's lack of sticks
it is, but it's more modern than stuff like snes
Ps2 is older than I am
its over 20 years old, it's retro now
Same
ps2 is like 3 years older than me
Omds
Xbox 360 and ps3 were retro pogchamp
They're getting there but not yet
Wait how old are you like around 22/21
im 22, mostly growing up with xbox 360
same
I finally got my age mates 🥹
is the wii u a retro console?
No
Nokia3210 is retro console
For my I’ll always have devices that are stick top, widescreen, analog triggers etc for pc games so I don’t need my dedicated retro handhelds to target the same controls/form factor - I need them to target the older stuff that doesn’t work well on an ally X
Mostly I grew up late ps2 era to xbox 360 / ps3 and wii
4:3, dpad priority, digital triggers
But that shouldn’t mean I have to buy $60 e-waste
Premium + retro can coexist
Absolutely especially in 2025 we deserve that shit
then how come the 3ds is?
b-but I like 60 dollar ewaste 😢
For me retro = can be emulated well in retroarch instead of needing to juggle the standalone emulator of the week
i do experience a bit of ps2 not until i sold it to my cousin because he want to make a ps2 rental with it, i play a lot xbox 360 and snes emulation(znes) on my old pc
Not even 3ds is retro
I like standalone emulators better than retroarch ngl
but retroarch shaders..
Never used them tbh
I dont really care for shaders too much, aside from interpolation
And hotkey setup, and scaling options…
Not to mention the maintenance and convenience for more obscure systems like Amiga, zx spectrum, sharp 68k
Oh yeah I mean I basically let retroarch handle any older systems, but I usually prefer using standalone for psp, 3ds, etc
DOSBOX-pure core is a literal godsend for playing ms dos games via gamepad
Something I intend to do a lot on this glorious 4.7” 4:3 screen
It's mad right people got ps2 around 2007/8 because of ps3 being expensive mf
This is OG experience I'm talking about
it's so good it's criminal
YouTubers are sleeping on it
yeah, ps2 still getting big games after ps3 came out, i remember watching meme parody of ps3 being a downfall for sony on the early youtube days.
Man it was so peak xbox 360 was getting love left and right until 2011
i agree almost all third party games runs better on xbox 360 than ps3 despite its having a wilder architecture, sadly japanese devs were really struggle on that era
lol not the ai render shopped in
I’m curious what colours this will come in
WOODGRAIN
it's time
Anbernic we are ready
Probably just full black and white. I want the white one
Hear me out:
Anbernic RG SliXX
(its an h700)
Is it using d8300, t820 or t618?
Its using anbernics own soc powered by anbernic AI with built in holographic ps3 emulator
Btw, i heard, that xiaomi will use their own soc in their next phone. And i belive this has something to do with what you just said.
lamb on baidu said the d8300 would not be appropriate for the screen and like a 'big horse pulling a little cart'
but he also said it was t618 which couldve been a troll
t820 right in the middle between his t618 joke and his (correct) assessment of the d8300 would be perfect imo
(gammaOS my beloved)
nope
control layout, SoC, battery size, all still mysteries
screen seems to be the only confirmed thing
same - t820 and dpad centric = might actually dethrone the fat gameboy for me
What was the resolution of the original Xperia Play?
Aspect ratio I mean
Resolution probably was low
And this is confirmed to be 4:3?

I think it's all but confirmed to be the 4.7" 120hz 1280x960 screen that anbernic staff have been teasing on baidu for months
Plus d8300 need more time right now it's not looking good
Snapdragon g1 gen1
Man really took rg slide fan off 🤣🤣🤣😭
for me this is competing with the rp classic as my next purchase, both on the promise of a better than 406 non-wide screen but pocketable (though chonky) unlike fat gameboy - and firmware is gonna be what determines a winner. Retroid's stock firmware on the classic has issues and there's no hope of custom anything
anbernic's stock firmware always sucks but if this gets a t820 it should get gammaOS
What if it had a n150
god that would actually be so good
Somebody will wise up and use that in a handheld sooner or later
Hey now
I'm not complaining with that
With the right price
Right firmware
With bazzite
I'm there
Until then t820 is enough
I think battery life would be poor on the n150 if you tried to actually run anything harder
but also having a truly open full desktop platform you could install anything on would be amazing
True but 7th gen would be enough
I wish amd would make an intel n100/n150 competitor at a more efficient process node
'passively cooled n150 tablet but amd version' would be insane
Oooo. Buddy. So much this
Honestly would be endgame for my travel emulator for sure
Pocketable. Functional without using controller. Plays most of the catalog I'd want on a pocketable on the go device. Etc.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, still loads of ways anbernic could mess this up lol
d8300, crappy dpad in a crappy position, etc
The problem is amd and their power watts been a little bit issues for a while
True
I really doubt d8300 would be on this
Curse you lamb
No one would buy d8300 rg slide when firmwares is half baked still have issues and need drivers to be the chip great
I do believe that max doesn't want issues with the chip not being program with the screen
Weren't most of the Rg557 issues Anbernic's fault though and not due to the D8300
Like the zram allocation and performance mode not doing anything
And that's problem as well anbernic didn't optimized enough because even performance mode is okay now the performance should be more better than we have right now
Hell janky andorid build that some apps don't work
Now good thing that anbernic would release their 407 series so it could get better of optimized with the chip and andorid build
Lmaooooo
You know they would continue with their d8300 on their next devices
What’s the point of a 120hz screen on handhelds for android? Feel like it’s just a waste of battery
I would be really surprised if they abandoned their chip tho
Lower latency, better motion clarity, smoother pacing on non 60hz systems/roms
And hell you can call your wife faster as well
Just a smoother experience all around
Just the user experience on Android at 120Hz is much nicer
And this is the first handheld I'd actually consider using the Android experience on. Heh
First android handheld id play ms dos games on since most of them are 70hz
The only thing else I want other than this to be good, pocketable, and supporting gammaOS is their next gen budget Linux handhelds having good portmaster support (all the libs and drivers needed), being good enough to run full psp at 1x, and them making a psp1000 clone out of it like they did for the og gba and the 34xx
Id honestly love an x86 tablet with sliding or detachable controllers. Does anything like that exist?
This is basically the phone sized version of that
the legion go
Yeah. I guess the next version is no longer detachable right?
I just play a lot of stuff on steam that can basically be one handed with touch. Would be cool to have something smaller and less awkward than balancing the steam deck on my knee 😆
Yeah that and the onexplayer x1/mini are the only options I think
https://x-plus.store/products/g-series1 the intel version is already out
the amd version I linked first is 'coming soon'
but yeah an n95 10.5" legion go clone lol
Oh yeah forgot about that, I think eta prime covered it a few months ago
1200p
honestly I'd be all over it if the controls had been more retro gaming focused
rather than 'xbox layout but kinda poop'
I keep looking at cheap n100 adjacent laptops, tablets etc for retro gaming but I never find one that has refresh rates better than 60hz which is a bit of a bummer
a 1200p n100 mini laptop would be my ms-dos beast if I could find one that could do 70hz games smoothly
basically I want a lower end gpd pocket 4
can't most displays be oc'd to 70+
maybe
intel is not as good as amd at low tdp
like, under 10w
update?
They’re funneling all resources into preparing the 35xxpro launch
Bold
ok
but question stands
UPDATE>???
Maybe someone will drops some QQ or Baidu leaks or whatever Chinese social platform people are scouting
most have 18.5:9 tf you on abt
Not from what I've seen
A lot of phones have odd resolutions and aspect ratio nowadays. Like the Pixel 9 is 20:9.
It gets even more odd when apps don't use the full display and avoid the screen cutout area.
We don’t talk about the psp street
Built for hacks
Everyone who wants left stick on top for a retro handheld uses analog sticks in Super Mario World. I’ve seen them do it.
monsters
they probably played new SMB-wii with the nunchuck
🤮
like come on, this was the way to play a 2d mario game on the wii
brought me right back to my NES days
I won't lie, I used to play Sonic with the stick.
But I figured out the dpad was more precise, especially in a fast-paced platformer
Filthy casuals that only play shooters on the PS5.
And never actually used a Dpad on their lives
Ngl this thing was a pain to hold sideways. Classic Controller is the way to go.
you wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me
It's not even about the corners. It's the uneven back when held sideways.
Right? Like anything is better ergos then anything I grew up with 😆
Yeah. It is awkward for sure
The diff in thickness
But honestly I forgot about it after the first 10 min
yeah I would spend all day playing new super mario bros with a sideways wiimote
The closest thing today might be playing mobile games sideways. Except worse because it's a touchscreen and not buttons
I used to play Smash Bros Brawl with a Wii-mote on its side
Yes like this but on smash bros hahaha
Gross lol
I lived with some tryhard roommates so the smash bros brawl controllers were all gamecube ones
I think a 3:2 would have been great for this form factor
Me too, they got rid of brawl and swore by Melee only until this day
I’d rather have it perfect for dozens of systems designed around TVs or computer monitors, good enough for gameboy and gba, and kinda bad for psp rather than “good enough” for dozens of systems designed around TVs and monitors and psp, perfect for gba, and kinda bad for gameboy
Adding a slight compromise to every single home console just to partially mitigate the compromise for psp is a bad trade imo
If it can do perfect PSP I'd rather have 16:9 tbh.
And I would use it for some Android games too, which would kinda suck with a 4:3 screen.
From what we have experienced with the Zero 28 for example, yeah 4:3 is ass
The RG Slide features a classic sliding design and is equipped with a 4.7-inch customized BOE display. It utilizes LTPS IPS (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) technology, offering a 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1280x960. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, boasts a contrast ratio of 1200:1, and achieves brightness levels of...
4.7 inches screen, probably not OLED as they didn't mention it, 120Hz refresh rate
I knew it
It looks so good ahhhh
I called for 4.7 because it was huge and then some of yall were like "erm chinese woman hands small"
Welcome to the past
i bet it's a T820 inside
Really feels like a phone of the 2010s
120hz i said god damn
Okay I think It's clear as night and day I'm choosing this over the rgb50
bezels are unimpressive but it's still a nice form factor
RGB50's coming next year
the psp go finally has a big brother
technically speaking the psp go is still relevant if you want a small psp capable machine but for all of us big boy lovers this is gonna he amazing
Deja vu hello old small phone 🥹
Seems like the evolution of the sony xperia
It looks like an HTC my touch IMO
That really does just look like a phone. I honestly don't mind that, there's probably Android games and some JRPGs I'd play with touchscreen.
T820 seems likely but I'd love something better in there. Also need the dimensions to know how thick it is but seems like a winner to me.
That too
What a fat boy, looks endearing, me wants.
thinking that if this have T820, GammaNext will be available soon for it
That would be awesome !
I like it, surprised that they went with symmetrical sticks , really thought it was gonna go the other way
I am happy they chose symetrical sticks
this will be more of a retro focused machine anyway
Same, just assumed they'd go stick top since that's what they do for their upper end devices aside from the v
Yeah and very pocketable for a good amount of power
Only thing i'm afraid of are the small buttons, sticks and ergonomics
welp, time to calculate the dimensions of this thick boy
One thing I like is how it seems like they're using membrane d pad and buttons
Oooh
So sexyyyyyy
I want it I want it nowwwww
okay something aint right, every calculation I do results in this thing being 15cm wide, which is as wide as my phone, I don't believe this
Did not think my first 120hz android would be an anbernic
oh, you came up with the same calculations
Yes, it's similar so a S25 phone in length, but wider
Lmaooo
Do they know 🤣
Is it 4:3 or 3:2?
Very 4:3
Does T820 as power as 865?or 845?
It's showing god of war 2 so it would be hopefully t820
plot “twist”
All that and they decided to play subway surfers
Nope but it's like sd845/d900 power but it shows more raw power than both of them
Oiii I haven't seen this phone since
haha, I had one yearrrrrs ago
Shit, my phone has a taller screen than this thing, how would I justify it now? 😱
Well easy pretend it is 2011
Good advice
Alright, this is the rg slide compared to my new 3ds xl, I gotta saw the rg slide has super chonky bezels, but it's actually pretty much the same size
this is actually all I've even dreamed of
Yep min i saw it I was like yhh no problem
Like lets be fair, if this was a horizontal handheld instead of sliding noone would complain about the bezels
the bezels the very least are small enough that you couldn't actually fit any controls in there
The RG Slide features a classic sliding design and is equipped with a 4.7-inch customized BOE display.
Little late to the party lol
Need to be quicker than that cuz
^^^
What I like this is this is definition of gaming phone
If this thing runs Rocknix and has sd865 or better, I’m sold.
can you guys believe the screen size for gba on this thing is actually bigger than on the odin 2 mini?
Should we tell him
pretty crazy
It's crazy oh last time all company like retroid, powkiddy and anbernic use same chip was two years ago
Yhhh
Isnt it 4.7” and the O2M 5”
So what are the two button-like thingy next to the speakers?
the subway surfers handheld is finally here.
Buttons or rubber stops ( to not scratch the screen when you lay it down flat) ? (Not sure)
Holy shit! I’m very excited for this device, day 1 buy for me (or I could buy the new VMU for now),
Or later
Very concern about battery & hours it will last during gameplay & standby
If it t820 we blessed if it t618 we still blessing
Unironically thinking about slapping a telescopic controller in it to play 3DS
Sure its D8300, Anbernic playbook
Clearly you don't know how screens work, but I'l explain. There is a big difference between aspect ratio between both screens which means for gba specifically the rg slide is going to have a 4.5 inch screen area for gba and the odin 2 mini is going to have a 4.4 inch screen size
Well yes but no
T1000
If they are using smartphone battery, we have hopes for 6000 Mah then its gonna be okay
T619
Battery should be huge considering the size
Should be if it’s gonna be a heatsink
I still need GammaOS for nothing else but privacy reasons
What if they surprise us and say it's G99
You login onto your hamhel with main account?
I need Gamma OS to fix the Cardinal Snapping this is absolutely about to ship with
Who said anything about gba. The odin screen is barely bigger
I prefer the G100
@weak heron I literally mentioned gba
G101
I gotchu
Yesssssssssss
Small sticks from RG557 makes sense here in RG Slide
Ok yeah this looks...kinda big
Imagine with telescopic controller attached..probably won't hold stable enough because of the curve
Choice of 4:3 is still odd, Not a complain but Is 16:9 future models incoming? Maybe anbernic on new design philosophy
honestly a 16:9 slide device would have made more sense but imo this is good enough where I think I don't mind it
Has it been shown or confirmed whether or not it has analog triggers?
Doesn't look like it
Except that’s not a real chip. The G100 is
Hmm...
That's not very attractive then.
I sense a flood of Anbernic releases coming in second half of this year
They were calm for 4 months, now be ready for the floods
Within 40 days they have announced 4 already
I've expanded the screen of the rg slide in the shell, the shell could apparently house a 5.4 inch 15:9 display
If only my friend, If only it were true
Honestly I don't want to be bitching until the end of times about problems with devices so I'm just going to say even with the massive bezels I am actually very impressed by this device
screens also have internal bezels, mostly a fine metal frame. so you cant mount it inside directly below a round shape
Well said, steps in right direction
so how big is this vs other anbernic 4:3 devices
can anybody calculate from the screen size how big the device will be slided in / slided out?
Not even g102 🤭
If i am guessing it right, it might be back & home buttons
it's pretty fun how they use a screen clearly not made for a phone without bezels and just slap it into the device without a care in the world for it to be centered... chonky bottom bezel
Just need specs and price 😄
Yh I love it
In one of the Chinese chats that were posted above somewhere, didn't he say that that the D8300 is too much for this screen? Maybe it's a hint that they'll make a 16:9 version with the 8300
this makes sense. so you can use the device slided in just like a tablet
Yep
I really hope it's a t820
possible, if it sells well
but given how god of war II ran... ehhh
It would be t820 or something less
But t820 would be easy choice
Does it look kids friendly to anyone? Kinda big or maybe heavy
even if you're right they could have easily fit a 3:2 screen in the shell with enough bezel remaining
Maybe Slide v2 will learn from mistake and improve
there is no excuse for that
Kids friendly hell no
Isn’t incell lcd the screen of the iPhone SE 2020
kid friendly and sliding mechanisms don't go well with each other
Non of these are kids friendly 🤣
who knows, but that wasn't 4:3 I guess
At the price it's probably going to go for it most certainly is not kid friendly
RP3 & RP4 were iphone screen not this
disappointed that it's not a 16:9 aspect ratio
I like the ergo placement of buttons & sticks atleast
well, that was to be expected with what we have seen already
like I actually thought this would be more square, but yeah, chunky bottom bezel explains that, I guess
true, it's just such a strange decision to make a PSP go like device and not have a screen that fits PSP games well
I'm fine with it for the most part but it looks to still be a good screen
did the math, device should be around 15,5 x 9,1 cm (not exactly). so sizewise similiar to RG cube
you get 4.3" at 2.7x not ideal but ehh
yeah we already done that based on the 4.7" panel alone a while ago, tho we compared to rgb30
they gonna go from 1 to 2 releases per month 😂
cant wait for the h700 rg xxlide
wouldn't it be Slide XX
To be honest, I wouldn't mind a cheaper version of this
We need to move from Vertical & Horizontal Candy Bar eventually
Flip-y & Slide-y things needs to come banging with designs
So when we go back to our original we feel Nostalgia
im still disappointed the cube xx wasnt called rg X³
I'm gonna ask them for this
next: rgTWIST
with the 720x720 panel 😂
slidexx, with a cheap screen
would be nice if they started using the 406v/h screen in their lower tier devices now
why have to decide between horizontal and vertical
especially as the competition is going to #1342191309959463027
That’s the wrong orientation, you gotta do it vertically ;))
that would be fun too, snapping out the controls like that
Holy shit the 4.7 inch screen is real
Comes down to the power of the systems it supports, 4:3 makes more sense outside of psp and psp go fans will still buy it anyway due to the looks. 😄
wonder how much wider this will be than my 28xx
tho obv it will be taller and thicker
expect about 20mm tbh
not too bad considering the 28xx itself is just small
rgb30 should be pretty close to the size of the Slide
fancy
4'7 would be fine for psp
This is what PSP should look like on that display if you don't use integer scaling
Although I'm still excited for this I really hope they release another 16:9 version in the future
That's even fine I'm leaving with something
I'm around the way
put it further down, to center the used area with the bigger bottom bezel
better or worse?
better
cant wait for grips on this amirite
Eww
Why didnt they do 16:9 though 🤣
the logic of buying ultra portable thins then put a big ass grip on it making it un-portable than other more comfortable things
These have fan holes right?
3:2 is the best compromise.
ye
passively cooled only
Because you can take the grip off when you don't need it and put it back on when you do

your name... changed?
those grips are 2 independent plugs for, other uses
where is the rg slide fan part?
so you took that off as a protest
It’s H700 I knew it
between her fingers?
Now I want a gun shaped grip for handhelds
new anbernic retro gunheld console
It has indented sticks & Fans.... Where the hell is battery
probably off one side or something
The question is why not 3:2
I bet it's t618 or T820

ah yes the freedom case
i'd be very content if it is t820
or t7250
Why they do that when t820 is better
Because they don’t want old specs they use rebranded cpu 🤣 = new
So... PSP should be 4.3 inches on that display... which is exactly the same size as the original PSP's display.
Plus it's worse than t618 doesn't make sense
4:3 16:9
If we are talking about psp go
4.3 inches when displaying 16:9 content
G100 = Rebranded G99
T7250 = Rebranded T615 basically T616/T618 🤣
I really hope it's not the T618... (or equivalent)
Passively cooled so it needs a cooler chip
T618 or T620
T620 😂
T820 would be fine
