I went to Aliexpress to see if they're selling Flip mini there as well. Instead I saw the Flip V2 was selling for only $45 and shipping from US as well. Ended up buying a second Flip v2. My current Flip is a first batch V2, hopefully they've improved the hinge since then. But $45 for Flip is such a great deal. I guess I'll buy a Flip Mini when its $40.

I'm so ignorant here. I'm curious how the soldering gets done. Like, is it one person doing every component or is it an assembly line where one person might have a box of USB-C ports, for example, and that's their only thing, and they pass it on to the next person, who might do the next 1-2 components...

I guess that would account for some components looking better than others.

I would guess some components get soldered by machine, such as the tiny surface mount stuff like resistors, capacitors, etc. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the larger stuff like buttons is soldered on by hand, it explains why the consistency is not, well, great

I would not see how the way these devices are made. Having a 'power on' on opening would mean it wasn't off in the first place since the sensor would need to get power to function

Thzre are setings were you close the lid, the device goes to sleep. Most of the time after a while it powers off

MinUI’s sleep works as it does on other devices, automatically shutting down after 2 mins. So basically shut hinge -> power down on MinUI.

None of them support OPEN hinge to power on though. That’s a hardware thing.

Yeah, my L trigger is the same way. Can press it fine normally, but if I put my finger on the lower edge, it doesn't move. Doesn't bother me much as I don't put my finger there usually. If it makes any difference, mine is the black model and I saw someone with a black one that had this issue too. Hopefully it's a cowinkidink.

I think shoulder buttons are hard to get right on clamshells for some reason. My 34sp has similar issues to what you’re describing, and if I press my r2 a certain way it gets stuck behind the shell constantly actuating the switch lol

I really thought this was going to be too small for me, but I'm actually really enjoying it, much in the way that I used to enjoy the RG280V, except the clamshell avoids worries about scratching the screen for edc use.

Really liking Allum. Does seem like a nice balance between minui and onion. I like that it keeps the quick options menu from MinUI, but the settings takes you to proper RA settings, not hiding the details. Recents menu is pretty quick, though there is slight load delay from it pulliing up the screenshot (guessing). I think the only thing I miss from Onion is menu for recents/quick switcher so far.

Totals I’ve come to so far, your mileage will vary. Someone can pin this if they wish to.

Testing on MinUI, medium brightness, 25% volume.

GBC gets approximately 7-8hrs of gameplay (tested with Pokemon Silver)

PS1 gets 6+ hrs of gameplay
(Tested with FFIX, Ms Pac-Man Maze Madness and Gran Turismo 2)

I tried the included card and then connected it to my computer to confirm that I could read the card ok there. I reformatted my PNY card to FAT32 and it sees it now. Thanks for the tip. Wonder why it wont read the included card? Anyway I got something to work with now. Thanks again.

Forgot who was asking or talking about the dpad rattling, both mine rattle. Gray buttons are more clicky and clacky, black one feels softer and more muted. Gray one doesn’t have gas, minimal wet farts. Both L1 buttons have that problem where it only depresses if you press it from the proper angle

Mine just arrived! , trying to update the firmware with the miyoo285_fw.img file from the Allium github, dropping it on the root of the SD formatted as fat32 doesn't seem to be working, when I plug in a usb it just shows the charging animation? (with a bunch of crackle and pop lol)

Hold the MENU button before and as you plug it in. Keep holding till the screen comes on. No need to hit power button

I had issues with the A30 initially, then it was fine. Recently I picked my #1 up again after a month of other devices and I remembered my initial issue, but it was very quickly adapted to. The Mini Flip is likely the same in my hands in terms of adapting, just less with my grip and finger placement

I'll keep on telling them to do translucent colors and try and get more travel in the shoulders. We shall see. I think if the sales continue to do well for Miyoo they will revise it.
