Setting monsters is pretty straightforward, though, once you actually have an Evoker. Knowing what a Evoker does, I guess really is the motivation to even look for it though.

Well i finally finished this game. I know it was basic compared to future generations trpgs, but it was perfect for me. And the story....omg it was great. Had to go and fill in some blanks but it was still good. And that character death is to brutal for me. The first time I almost died inside... and the last time... had to sacrifice two to get through the final stage.

Well, tried to start this up on my 35xxSP. Froze on stage 3, and reloading the stage just shows the inn without any sprites. Can even open the menu. Tried two emulators and they both do the same. Oh well

For the first few maps you need to use the elemental triangle or you will lose people. Donā€™t let your fire guy fight their water guy, heā€™ll get his ass kicked

You'll get a few maps with griffons, seiters (dragons), and sirens. Defeating them with Eva recruits them to your army

#

Fairly early on there should be three maps in a row with two elemental monsters each, one of which is level 1 and one of which is level 6ish

Also if ya accidentally click wrong spot and miss ya attack is super frustrating šŸ¤£. Again me problem and deff my fault. But I accidentally hit x intedad of O a few times (I use a ps5 controller). I'm used to US games where X = yes and O= cancel not opposite way. But missing an attack on ya turn really is a huge set back

Well this was my fault I'm not used to games tht something happens and it makes it almost impossible to go forward but the game let's ya anyway. So I kept overwriting my saves. As soon as I got to next village. And even still I find it pretty bad to even have a design like tht where continuing is almost impossible. Ovy it's workable around. But tht does not change its a pretty bad decision by the devs

Or, itā€™s less about winning the battle, but more about winning the battle in a way where you can still win the war. Is it really a victory if you win the battle, but now you canā€™t do anything afterwards? Itā€™s just having a bigger vision than a single battle.

I get itā€™s frustrating but really this is easiest of the 3 games this month.

It really is. It doesnā€™t take much strategy, just a few basic things. The only times I lost a battle when Eva would get hit by a critical attack and be killed in one shot.

Some tips that should help.

  • Be sure to look at enemies and see their movement range. You can position yourself to get the first attack easily.
  • Move your units in clumps. If you limit the sides a character can be attacked from, you limit the damage they take.
  • Keep your healers back a ways. The range on healing/scanning spells is very large, so you donā€™t need to get very close.
  • Buy and equip all the upgrades you can, but donā€™t waste your money at the ?? shops on the junk items. Youā€™ll have plenty of money to upgrade everything when you need to if you do this.
    That should be enough to get to through the game pretty easily.

Played this earlier in the month and liked it quite a bit. Easily the best GG game Iā€™ve played, though thatā€™s admittedly a low bar. The map design is a bit basic, with no time-sensitive objectives, and several turns of uneventful walking to reach the enemy on most maps, but the tactics were fun and the story goes way harder than I expected for a game of this vintage.

My only disappointment is how often a games success as a nomination often seems to be based on completions. In that regard I wish Iā€™d been able to complete the game to be included in one of those who liked this one
