Why does the device turn on by itself after plugging in the charger cable through the PC? I use unofficialos

It would be fix if you install your os in eMMC, but in now only possible with Rocknix

There is no emmc on the u8, and the reason it turns on is to control the charging regulator.. some units can charge while off, some need to be on. It's a uboot thing.. same with charging animations, that's uboot also

You can turn it off while plugged in, it should change still but I don't know for sure

I'm also having the u8 console and I successfully was able to put ark OS on it unfortunately the battery reading is way off, showing even 0 after a few minutes but the handheld still has enough juice. Can you somewhat recalibrate it? Or is there some settings that can be adjusted? Thx

Yeah that ArkOS for U8 is deprecated so no.

Arkos for clones I think works on that unit. If not my UnofficialOS build def does, just added this unit. The overlay requires right stick invert, and rotation 270 on the webtool

I installed UnofficialOS but it says partition is corrupted. I want to use SDcard 1 to put game files. How do I fix this?

For 1 card u need to add games over the network..2 sd cards are recommended if you want to add games right to the sd with windows. See the add games page in the wiki

Idk about the corruption, but if you put sd1 in a windows pc it's going to want you to reformat since it's a Linux partition

There's a way of fixing this. There's a second DTB in the boot partition of ArkOS. I'm not sure what it's there for or why it's still being read from but if you rename it (I just add .old to the end of the filename) then it breaks the connection to it and in my experience the battery monitoring then becomes more accurate on this build.

Hello. I have an u8 console. I need a help. I'm trying to turn on my game console by holding down the power button, but the screen is completely black. When I keep pressing the A button, a random game runs in the background, and I can hear the game's audio, but even though the screen is on, it's dark and there's no image. I've tried repeatedly with memory cards loaded with my Arkos and Emulelec. Can you help me make the screen visible again?

Before this started happening, the first errors were as follows. Every time I turned it on, it would automatically set the screen dimming setting to the lowest dark and then I try turn it on again, I had to go into the settings and increase the screen brightness. Then one day, when I tried to turn on the console with the power button while the OTG USB controller was plugged in, I noticed that the screen was no longer completely blank. but as i said when i try to push A button repeatly a game start to play with hearable sounds but screen is dark no vissible. May be anyone can tell me the way of brightness settings. It gives me the instruction to turn on brightness, and I blindly try to turn on brightness.

Does anyone knows what is the correct DTB or screen files for the newest version of the U8? (I believe it gotta be somehow new or different since it's not working like units from couple months ago)

Tried to install ArkOS 04/23/2025 but the result was vertical lines and random colors. Panel 1-5 that are already there didn't work for me. RIP.

I'm not sure about ark, but i know my build of UnofficialOS works on this unit.. follow the directions in the wiki, and the settings for the webtool are 270 rotation for the panel and invert right stick

Sorry, just seen this.. so with 1 card the easiest way is to move games over the network, but i always recommend 2 cards for a few reasons, 1 being is easier to move and manage games and saves, and 2 if u need to reflash for whatever reason you don't lose your saves, have to move all the roms again, etc

It's not broken reflash it.. if u have your stock dtb you can try UnofficialOS, use the clone image and follow the directions

Just to chime in here, you may need to pull the DTB from the device rather than using a downloaded stock DTB from the internet. The new version of the U8 is likely to have some differences in the DTB to the old one.

I replaced OGA’s SDL2 and RetroArch with the ones from the R3XS image.
I’m not sure whether this will work properly or if it might introduce bugs.

If it's just the sdl i don't think it will. Retroarch I got an issue with colors before but should be easy to fix.

Unfortunately, the 90° and 180° rotation versions still need to be compiled manually.

Use the create game directories option in es if the sd is blank, but if adding them manually all the bios and system folders must be in a folder named roms.. so it would be roms/gba for example
