there's some minor differences between the ui shown here and the actual trimui interface, so you might be right that this could be running some shitty ass hardware and software under the hood

True though your m21 had a really corrupted sd card image as well which didn't help with the review. Just getting a good sd card image actually fixed the issue you had in the review. Then @thorn imp created his form of MinUI which really makes it usable now though I think the background music

Your not wrong, I only have the M21 but it was so bad when I got it becuase the SD wass really corrupted and doesn't report the correct size but was improved with the myminui fork of minui. I'd expect that same kind of thing from the stock image on this as well though in the past they did fix it up like with the m19 and m25 images from sjgam. If it sold for 25 - 30 usd then maybe for the larger screen but the R36S is still the king or the V10 if you don't want sticks and love GBA

That's very true The M20/ M20 Pro has also been seen and has that RK3566 but the package it's in is way to expensive for it just being a handheld it only makes sense if you plan on using it both at home and out in public

Okay I like their products but t his is by far the most baffling release so far. I mean a 1080p screen with a SoC that has No iGPU. They could of at least given it a RK3566 chip and that still doesn't really have the power to run a 1080p screen at over 30fps. This is just disappointing for sure.

Yes the last two seem really out of place the only thing I can think that they maybe doing is marketing them as an all-in-one solution so you just need one device for on the road and at home but even that seems a stretch when you look at the m19 and m25. Even if they had just made this an update to the m17 and use t he RK3126C I could see it being useful but this is just odd. The m20 really seems like the only one they are trying with and like this one it seems odd as well as it comes with a stand, 2 controllers and 2 lightguns an dis an RK3566.

When I start seeing them show up on aliexpress Deadfred I'll share the link but it's going to be spendy

First choice is to use a blank sd card and copy the contents of the myminui zip file to the blank sd card and copy the emulationstation file in /m21/ to the root, /, of the sd card. Then add some of the roms from the sd card to correct folder on the myminui sd card located in /roms/%console system%/ folder. You can copy just one or two files to see if it works so you won't have make a big deal out of loading it full of roms until you know it's at least reading and seeing the sd card and loading the myminui system.

Also make sure the blank sd card is formatted with exfat or fat32 as the file system

then try it again
