#Rekody Windows Handheld

how original
Why is a high-RPM cooling system a selling point?
rog ally at home
This reminds me of when someone copies your homework but still gets it wrong
loudest handheld on the market 🥇
It kinda looks like the Ally if it melted.
"we have the fastest fan" is making me think of mrbeast's lunchables advertised as having the fewest calories
that's not the point of the thing
hardware specs or Eff the hell off, Rekody
4400RPM
WHOA. that's a lotta air pal. lemme grab my checkbook
Also more than one port.
The Rekody Handheld: If your favourite thing about handheld PCs is loud, whooshing fans, have we got the solution for you!
I take it you're not a fan of this design.
From afar it looks like an Anbernic product
The temu ally 🤣
the only way this will pique my interest is if it turns out to be like... a 300usd mendocino or something
I don't have any strong feelings about the design one way or another. I like the Ally, so I don't inherently hate this or anything. But when a cooling system is put front and centre as one of the key selling points...it's kind of a weird way to market your system, you know?
Hm. anyone with a few minutes and blender and photoshop could make this kickstarter listing - there is so little info.
Smells like a scam to me. But who knows.
The Windows buttons or start/select being so close to the Dpad and face buttons are a excellent design decision and obviously won’t get pressed accidentally at all during gaming sessions
Yeah it probably is
That design is abysmal
Well....I can see why they kept quiet about the specs.
Genuinely, I would prefer to back the TJD t101.
N100.....dear god
I don't mind that it's a N100 but no one in their right mind should spend more than $200 for this
Oh, as a sub win600 handheld it would have its place.... But yeah, you could have it's price and it's still a shocker.
Those 3 backers are either staff, or people who literally buy every handheld released.
I bet they bought a TJD T101 as well.
the TJD at least had that unique design going for it. yes it's terrible but it really spoke to the twenty people who wanted a 10" screen windows handheld
this has nothing
Would still rather buy a Win600 over this
73 people
Now we know how bad the T80 did (6 backers), 73 backers feels more respectable.
The rekody isn't getting to 73
Since when is 1280 x 800 a 16:9 aspect ratio
The Aokzoe A2 got 38 backers.
I think this will manage to take the crown from the A2 as the worst backed x86.

I usually don't recommend AYANEO products but if you want a budget windows handheld the Next Lite is cheaper and definitely way more powerful and not even close , this is DOA
Right now even the legion go is cheaper
Next lite is also great though.
the handheld this is mimicking is also entering budget territory. open box z1 ally's are going as cheap as $225 now
I wonder how much open box next lites are. I guess that's a thing now they are sold in best buy?
Sold on BB's web site only and not in-store as near as I can tell. So open boxes for the Ayaneo devices won't be plentiful like the name brands are.
Oh sure.
But it'll be interesting to see if they do exist
I wanted an n100 handheld.... But not like this lol. This thing is trash
Hell, hardkernel has an n305 sbc for 220usd now. put THAT in there.
omg its even got the Ally rainbow stripe on the back
and whats with that (ssd?) compartment, looks like this thing takes AAs
it's an ssd panel. takes a full-size m.2
I guess its cool that you dont need to pry the whole back off, could be nice to fully swap ssd for windows/linux instead of dual boot from one
n100 is restricted to 2gb of vram, so i guess 12gb is fine.
this thing really needs to be like $250, the idea that $450 is early bird for 128/12 model and will be normally $850 is actually insane
thats like Temu levels of false discounting
oh shit. is this what i think it is?
they're ripping the ports off of actual n100 sbcs to fit them into the body. this whole thing is a HACK JOB lol
thats the place you make Aurora in starfield
if it was 250, bordering 280, yeah. might be pretty great
"first they're going to dissect them! And then they're going to dissect me!"
Narrator sounds very enthusiastic in this video. Almost like shes reading a script 😅
It's the "oh, a game changer" bit, said with all the enthusiasm of a bored parent pretending the plastic cupcake they have been given is great.
Only good idea about this is the easy access SSD , everything else is
Not sure how much better the N100 is over a 3050e but from my very little knowledge I think the 3050e has a slightly better GPU and the N100 slightly better CPU so not much of a difference TBH
n100's cpu is almost twice the performance. the gpu is ~30% weaker and has a hard 2gb vram cap, though.
this is to be expected though. n100 is a 10mb cache cpu compared to the 3050e's 5mb.
So what you are saying is...
We should all get the $519 Rekody.

i want a barebones option
is that USD
Yes
The Intel N100 is now an extremely affordable Mini PC to get, so we've decided to do an emulation showcase video to see what kind of performance we can expect from this recent CPU.
We test Dreamcast, PSP, PS2, 3DS, Gamecube, Wii and Wii-U- all running on Batocera Linux.
The Mini PC used was the GMKtec Nucbox G2.
► Specs:
CPU: Intel N100 Proces...
Rainbow Six: Siege(2015) looks like its pc limit. game only runs well(30's and 40's fps) at 360p, and hits 100/100% cpu/gpu usage.
Its almost done pledging. There's like 1400usd left
All $5000 which they'll burn through in the first few days of trying to develop something like this
Good luck to those who decided to pledge
Also this makes me laugh... So portable, but don't stray too far from a power outlet
This guy is definitely on the go, in his own house.
i mean.... they have a paid rip&resolder squad and a rented assembly line.
first batch will probably look something like CNCDan's zendeck. if you like hardcore rip&tear homebrews, by all means.
Damn they got the balcony feature
I'm mostly looking forward to using it in the dining room
Too bad it doesn't work in the bathroom though
Also 4000mah battery 🪫
Do they state voltage anywhere?
Bro just looks disappointed looking at the battery percentage
Wow they got another victim......I mean backer and a whole 7 now .
I actually don't mind a N100 handheld , the big issue is asking price and the ghetto ASUS Ally rip off look + there is zero reason this has to look this way
They were at 8 yesterday. They LOST a backer
Someone woke up sober for a change
Wow these are certainly some specs of all time.
Pay more than a used Ally Z1E for an N100 with 12gb ram and 800p screen

30.8Wh battery
Hol up do they really only need ~10 preorders to finish developing this thing? Or is this their way of marketing and it’s already funded
Well, at least it can use the same mini hdmi cable as my powkiddy x55
Me too bud…
How about option #3: it's a scam and it'll never get made?
How dare you....say the quiet part out loud.
They're back
If they can make this, other devs will follow. I believe @pallid relic said something months back about powkiddy having interest in x86 if they knew the community would back an n100 or cheaper chip. (n6005 and pentium 7505 for instance)
Powkiddy win600 let's go!!!!
a 7505 version of the 600 would be nice. it would actually be better than the 3050e in the win600
8505 version or bust
I think super budget x86 handhelds specifically shipping with Linux instead of windows could be a cool under explored niche
Like a little batocera handheld that can do light ps3 at like 250-300 with some sensible sacrifices
a budget handheld that can actually play xbox, yes
Yeah budget x86 is still hard financially but it makes sense in the long run. The issue is battery life and performance. The n100 is amazing for web browsing and your standard school type stuff but any game after 2013 it kinda chugs on anything but low
they did it. those ambitious sobs did it
most of the buyers are opting for the 519usd 1tb version
They needs the space for all the AAA games they will be downloading.
Wait....
The ultimate "install potato mods on 8th gen games" handheld
Don’t worry , someone will come to their senses and will cancel

Never get drunk and go shopping
Up to 12. Double the TJD T80!
If they pass 20, i might get one
The only comment so far is from someone who doesn't even understand what they bought. Which makes sense really.
we were all newbs once
"okay sir, make a folder in My Documents or where-ever called MelonDS, go to the melonDS site, download the windows x64 version, unzip the melonds.exe to that folder, make a folder called ROMS in the melonds folder, and put your nds files in the roms folder, then right-click the executable and select Send to Desktop(Make Shortcut)", close file-manager, then open it up with the icon, etc. etc. etc.
this user hasn't even gotten -there- yet
Oh, I don't mean it in a making fun of the user way.
I just mean I wonder how many of these backers think this thing will run their Xbox/PS5 games, rather than clocking it's a windows PC.
i mean it purely in a 'they don't know what emulation is yet' way
...not knowing its just a windows tablet with controls on it... that's going to trip some people up.
like how many people who buy the steam deck or rog ally generally don't understand pc gaming or emulation?
Aye. There's a reason why there are so many openbox/eBay listings.
my boss at work doesn't understand what emulation is. something just doesn't click that the console isn't present, but its games are working on another device.
Yeah, that sad part is that most people would be blown away at the idea of emulating SNES and Megadrive games on stuff, when they probably have an old laptop capable of good GC/Wii/PS2 just sitting around in a drawer.
One cheap controller away from unlimited games.
Not even that if you really want to play SNES on a keyboard.
Or have an old android tablet/phone capable of PSP and below.
the knowledge-base has crumbled a bit
Just say “it’s like a computer wearing another computer’s hat”
hehe that's a good metaphor
I got this in my email today and was like, wow that’s a company Ive never heard of. Intrigued, I clicked on the link and once I saw N100, closed my browser. Seriously who are they trying to scam with this?
The backers obviously
The N100 isn't the biggest issue most have about this , its the price they are asking .
I'm in the mindset where it would be nice to see more budget friendly Windows handhelds but why buy the Ally knockoff when you can be a real Ally for often times less
yeah, and the win600 is down to 228 till the 8th when its coupon wears off, and then goes back up to like 243 on aliexpress.
Might be a scam are there actually any videos of this working very easy with photoshop etc
I think it likely is a scam... If they're as far along in development as they say they are, why would they need just 10 preorders at this stage?
welp. they're losing backers now. back below 5000
This may actually have less backers than TJD 😂
Huh, it's rare to see someone not meet the Kickstarter goal for a handheld. But this thing looks like it will manage it.
Let it rest in peace
Rekodead
Sayonara, you misguided vaporware.
Maybe they'll sell the design to powkiddy, and we'll get it for cheaper. Might be outside of powkiddy's tech range though according to @pallid relic
I'm concerned about the 6 people who put money down on this
maybe family and friends? 😆
Maybe the same ones who bought the TJD and didn't learn their lesson?
I think they are interested in an x86 handheld but I myself am not sure thow they will make that happen yet. last time we talked about it, it was too early to build something reliable but the hardware available now has changed quite a bit
The spirit was there. the execution was not
replace the n100 with an i3-n305 and maybe that price tag will make sense
31hrs 6 backers still. Well good thing the backers will get their money back unlike TJD IGG
I feel bad for those 6 guys lol, hope they get their money back
“4000 mah battery “ for x86 handheld and “2-4 hours of battery. “
Had scam all over it
Yup. It's a smaller battery than most mid priced ($100+) ARM handhelds.
what are you guys smoking? ampage is the rate that electrons travel. battery life is determined by watt hours. The battery is probably rated for 40wh.
basically, if the n100 peaks at 18w, that makes sense for it to have a floor life of 2 hours and a ceiling of 4 hours at 9w
could have a high voltage though, the apple magsafe powerbank has a very low rated mah but it’s made up for by the voltage being significantly higher than other powerbanks
https://www.newegg.com/p/2SW-009E-00010
Take the Higole F9B and give it game controls. they had one job
Just slap a ABXYlute type mobile controller and you do
