#Anbernic RG406H
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
so are we thinking $170 for this?
Whatever the 406v and cube are priced around
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16z49gqJEuzyI1PSMsi231CD8FhCeaBbrZ-NlYpj518E/edit?gid=0#gid=0 this should be right, for the RG406p right?
as far as what it can run
yeuh
hrm, its kinda sparse on GCN lol
i wonder if there's a better T820 sheet
since its in 406v, rg cube
ty
ive havent had issues
if its the rb cube design tho, it wont be as pocketable as 405m 😦
triggers will stick out and theres more bezel
yeah, having a 4 inch pocketable slab is really nice. I'd consider 40xx if it didn't have the h700
i think ill wait for reviews and see how well the 405m does the games I want to play.
it might just be fine
also sales.
cube already going on sale
We pretty much know what this is capable of already
herbs?
My monies on granite personally
You can get it a little cheaper right now on ebay, thanks to a current ebay coupon: https://www.ebay.com/e/daily-deals/24-rw44-apac?KeyFlows_offerType=1&_kwdomcat=26395,6000,11700&_bkw=anbernic
406V for $141
yeah, free shipping on the ebay post
$12 shipping from Anbernic. No clue on tax, i live in Oregon, lol
Oregon best state
I'm a lil disappointed if this is just a t820 again
what else would it be?
Don't set yourself up like that, it is absolutely going to be a T820, it is the same chip code as the rest of their T820s.
at least it has a screen upgrade
people actin like the 820 is a h700
i think im skippin' or waiting for a really good sale ~$120-130
rg405M will hold me over
I know
H700 is a perfect device for what it is, and I think the T820 is damn near perfect for what it is. Obviously they'll release better eventually, but with >PS2 emulation pretty much dead, there's not much purpose to it.
ur downplay will be ur undoing
I agree, but i feel like with stacked shoulders and hand grips, it'll feel way better to play on, but will absolutely not be pocketable anymore
and thats the target for me, at this size of device
For sure, that's why I've got an SP for pocket and cube for everything else
I wouldn't want to walk around with a $150+ device that doesn't go through drop testing as part of it's QC, in my literal pocket, lol
This is correct 😄
which reminds me, we should get a beer 😛
my 556 is tucked away in my backpack at all times
If it isn’t pocketable then why not just get a 556?
Cheaper and oled
spitting
Gotta see how this comes out. I don't care for wide screen (probably why I have a cube), most of what I play is older generation consoles, handhelds up to 3ds, with a bit of dabbling in modern systems. So i'd rather have a more compact device. Once they start getting much bigger, it takes up more space in my quite small backpack, and are a chore to lug around. I don't think I've ever used my switch off of it's dock.
Mine stays tucked away in the red/black version of the official case in my bag, though I'm thinking of upgrading to one of these new slim form fitted super sturdy cases: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D46LKHXT/
oh i use that case too lmfoa
it has survived space mountain at disneyland (i dont know how still)
Whelp, that sounds like a rousing endorsement to me!
clicks buy button
I still hope the RG556 makes at least a few prominent retro handheld YouTubers' list of best devices of 2024 when the year end top lists come out, cause I love this thing so freakin' much
Needs a little refresh with more / better shells and better sticks
Anbernic doesn’t bother if it sells good enough
Really the only thing I'd like is a software update to remove the cardinal snapping from the joysticks, but even that I've only ever noticed in one game out of the dozens I've played on the 556. It's not generally an issue.
Can confirm. Am weirdo.
The 406 screen is really perfect for lcd grid shaders for gameboy/gba/gamegear and integer scaling
Plus if you’re into overlays I’d be concerned mildly about burn in
So yeah if you hate pillarboxing, want something more compact and retro looking, want integer scaling, want grid shaders, want overlays
And presumably the 406h will get the better sticks and a better dpad
Pocketable is a very subjective thing anyway, there's almost no handhelds I'd happily have in a trouser pocket for long, but jacket pocketable is more than feasible for many of them, but less than ideal when you get up to 5.5" or larger devices
Yeah I like the 28xx for actually pocketable
The 406v fits in one of the accessory pockets in my laptop bag meant for a charger or a mouse or whatever too
But I’d never jam the 406v in my pants
I also have a small sling bag where if I throw a big horizontal widescreen in it hogs the main compartment while the 406v fits in an accessory pocket
Leaving the main compartment open for a tablet or something
If I’m filling the main compartment with a handheld that handheld is an ally X
yeah its subjective, but for me it'd be to fit into my sling bag
the 405M is about the max
part of me wonders if i got eyestrain from adding the lcd shaders was because OLED screens are weird
Chatting about the H tonight https://youtube.com/watch?v=OcWQW4xypKI
10/28 ft. AishTalksTech (S4 E37)
Topics this week include:
- Anbernic RG 406H & is there an RG ArcXX?
- RG CubeXX has Custom Firmware (Knulli and MinUI)
- Anbernic P01 Controller is only $15 (this changes..everything?)
- 8BitDo’s New Ultimate Mobile Controller Stretches the Limits
- RP5 Shipping Delayed until Nov 14
- RP Mini Scaling ...

Is that an actual pic of the H or do we still not know what the front looks like?
Was hoping for the cube dpad tbh
it loks like an edited 35xx
Maybe? OLED has super high brightness too
Aish made this based on the available data
@limpid tusk
The P patent, the reddit photo job, and the H internals from Nittrx 😄
I made that based on the patent
Less rounded sides too
Don't put the stick on top again
is the red circle a stick ribbon cable?
also does 406H mean there won't be a metal version
From what I understand this will be a plastic shell
They did say they'll be doing metal shells less often, but i'm getting some firmer details on the H, hopefully before showtime!
Plastic shell is a very good news, I really appreciate the low weight of the handheld
good, we don’t need to be paying extra for cheap metal that’s gonna be easily scratched up (metal is NOT more premium lol)
Plastic is not as heavy and doesnt get warm as much as aluminium shell
but why H and not P ?
i figure H means there won't be a P/M distinction
That's my understanding as well
This has been the thing I have been using as justification to not buy any other mid range handhelds for months now going back to the 556 and rp4 so I am definitely grabbing one because if I don’t then why have I not bought other E waste until this point?
Here's an alternate pic that might make it easier to see the patent render
If i'm making wishes, I hope they make one in transparent orange like the R36S 😂
i want transparent purple
Seeing how they are such big dragonba GT fans they might make a dragon ball inspired transparent orange color
or smokey transparent

dragon ball has actually new shit coming out so a goku color would sell infinity
it's not horrible, but neither it is interesting
can't beat GT at the end of the day
sentenced to 100 years of dragon ball multiverse
its basically what if GT was good
Don’t let @icy parrot see this

Dpad top is the loud minority lol
I used to be a diehard D-pad on top advocate, but I've come to the conclusion that if your primary intended purpose for the handheld is Dreamcast, N64, GameCube, and/or PS2 then having the analog stick up top makes sense; providing the D-pad is inset to a comfortable location where it can still be used when needed like on the RG556. The Odin 2's D-pad placement was awful and I almost would have rather had D-pad on top for that one.
my rule is simple. widescreen? stick top. narrower aspect ratio? dpad top.
That is quite sensible and I like it... unless you're super into PSP lol
or be like valve and put both top
That Steam Deck layout is something special. I do have to stretch my thumbs a little more than I'd like to use the sticks, but the layout does work for both D-pad and analog stick games pretty darn well.
Rule #6 @pearl jetty

Lol ok then.
what could be the price of it?
180ish? like cube or V
It will be good for nds games?
Yeah it’s great for DS
I was buying the cube but someone said rg406h is coming soon
How soon do you think it might come out?
those retroid taxes are insane
?
same as 406v is my guess. should come down to 130-140 on sale.
imagine getting this just to play visual novels or (gasp) Galge/Bishojo games
The alignment of the dpad and stick is definitely the most crucial part of any layout for me, don't mind either being up top, but there has to be an offset so both controls are properly usable
Oooh the 406h looks kind nice. Finally a compact GC/PS2 capable device that doesn't look like ass.
Are there gonna be bulges on the back shell? I hope not.
Is this still accurate for the current design that we are seeing? I thought this was just a placeholder design or something.
this came from a patent
It is not accurate and we don’t actually know what it’ll look like, yet
Oh ok
WHY IS THIS NOT DPAD ON TOP ARGH
406v stays winning
AWAY WITH YOU
you know how much i hate the Vertical
I propose we ditch the horizontal and vertical terminology and replace them with correct and wrong, with correct being horizontal while vertical becomes wrong.
add to how dpad on top is correct, and on bott is wrong. so we want a correct correct device
We get really confusing there and label them port and starboard inexplicably. And then we never adequately answer which is port and which is starboard
Proposal denied - denial reason that's idiotic nonsense
Inline shoulder buttons become mutt while stacked becomes Jeff
Boy, it must suck for you that it’s the only Android handheld design they’ll ever make with D-Pad on top then, huh?
The first and only time they ever did it for an Android-Only Horizontal handheld. They must’ve hated it a lot if they’ve still never done it again, even now.
Imagine if the 406h is dpad top with the arc/cube dpad
I’d sooner believe they would make a RG Arc T820 with only a D-Pad and no sticks, only to make it metal and obscenely expensive purely for the sake of bleeding the Arcade-handheld dreamers dry.
Ha, I want one stick and whatever chip they use for the xx7 on an “arc pro” so that it can play n64 and Saturn respectively
Good news then, you’ll at least have something to hard focus on in resisting the urge to buy it, like I do in only accepting a Digital Joystick for my dream Arcade handheld, no analog stick, and definitely not D-Pad only.
I’ll settle for a sega dpad but yeah a neogeo clicky stick would be wild
This with a sega dpad and I’ll buy it lol
Stop wanting sega dpads and 6 buttons on everything
😤
Quick question do any Anbernic handhelds have analog triggers ?
Was going to buy ( still might when on sale ) a 406V until I found out they are digital only , I'm guessing this wont be any different but hope I'm wrong.
I know not a big deal for most but that's what I want

Cube and 556 are both analog
Only the 406v is digital
Of the t820 stuff
Making it the only T820 that is that way
Because the 406H will have analog triggers as well
Like 1058203%
Thanks man
Yeah the pic of the back basically confirmed it
Hope this does too
Those shoulders are way too big to be digital
Would of bought a RG556 but those older sticks are kinda ass and don't like the 1:1 as ratio the cube has so hopefully this has the new sticks used on the 406V and analog triggers of the RG557
.......I hope your device breaks
😭
And meanwhile only the 406V has the retroid sticks, the Cube and 556 still having Joycon sticks.
you're getting the win600 though, yeah? its analogs are their own version smooth-but-stiff hall sensors
people in this channel want this again
Yep. Compare it to the CubeXX's board on the last pic here: #1294370605700878427 message
so it's stick top
I didn't expect otherwise, but it'd be killer if it wasn't.
honestly just confirms that I made the right choice (for me personally) with the 406v
its the wrong choice
ADMIT IT
I don't know, I'd like to try it, but the d-pad hanging that low still feels weird.
I wanna play Luigi’s mansion and sunshine, so analog triggers are a must
The d-pad on bottom was one of the reasons that I hesitated on the Odin 2, but honestly? It feels fine.
The problem you're having is probably the way you're holding it. Lower your left hand an inch or two, wrap your index finger over-top the bottom bulge, and then your middle-finger across it.
I play a lot of GBA on the Odin 2 and that grip is pretty comfy even for long sessions.
It should
That's exactly what I did with my Odin 2 when I had it, but for me the problem was that the Odin 2 was so heavy that the bulge would make a really sore spot in the middle of my palm after 15 minutes or so. I just couldn't handle the weight of the darn thing.
its super funny ... as i originalyl ever inteded to get "405m successoer" and ultimately went the route of getting RPMini instead and plan to upgrade 405v to 406v in my "consolidation of verticals plan" next year
just sadi that LeChonk06 dropped the wood 😕
Go away with the SEGA d-pad, god damn it
Hmm switch sticks?
I fudging love it! Literally exactly what I wanted, just a 4:3 Cube; though hopefully with the new 720p screen and improved analog sticks. Fingers crossed on those.
noice, whered this come from
i knew holding off getting a cube was a good call
now should i hold off until a top dpad comes out is the question
That'd be the dream.
Oh shit that's nice!
Damn, that dpad basically sold me on this
I'm a bit anxious that as soon as I buy this they'll make a T820 Arc though lol
Gotta have those large face buttons too
I do hope they keep using this d-pad regardless, massive standout feature.
I would agree if it was the dpad from the arc, but this one is just ok.
And maybe one day madman Zhou will be mad enough to try doing the Neo Geo directional... thingy.
It's not the same? How is it different?
The one on the arc is very different, this one is basically the same dpad just with a round housing, the one on the arc was more like a floating dpad
Sticks protrude a bit much, no?
Surely people want call this pocketable
Ah damn, saw the teardown, you're right
It's all one piece, no base like in a proper Sega dpad
Well Max, you know there is no law against making two T820 handhelds in a row, right?
T820, better sticks, higher res 4:3 display, proper analogue triggers, ergonomic bumps on the back etc. make this much better than just a 405M but in plastic imo but we shall wait and see
if this has a SEGA d-pad, all those SEGA fans shall be cursed to never see an powerful ARC
Oh. That's disappointing.
https://youtu.be/vEBGAxQG_8Y?si=QRuJnSb733-Hhayp&t=174
Yeah, on Arc the top part will come off from the outer side of the shell, and here it comes through
Holy shit, much better than expected 😄
Also it seems they are testing transparent shells as well, good news
How long do you think till they announce it?
If the sticks are good and it has a flat back, this will be what I wanted the RP Mini to be tbh.
This shouldn't be flat, it's a Cube reinteration.
No Dpad on top 😫
Its better for the consoles more people will used it for like n64, DC, GC and PS2. Byt also dpad is in quite comfy position imo, not much below the stick, so ergonomics should be good for both
With dpad on top the stick should have been quite a bit lower so you are not touching it all the time and I can imagine it would be much worse for stick centric systems than it is right now for dpad centric ones
hopefully ... i will definitely upgrade if improved arc appears 😄
(T820 should be enough for yaba saturn .... i dont really need the "full sega device" to be cabable of beetlecore as that would boost price quite high)
thats a qurstion 😄 if they intend it as "405m successort" or "wider cube"
idm either, this form factor is better than the cube im planning to buy, so good thing i waited
tbh i grabbed a cube for different reasons and needs than why i waited for 406h (and ultimately went fro RPMini instead) ... but still kinda plan to do 406v
but if the CubeXX was available back then ... i would probably do that one (cause the main reason for me to get ube was getting annyoned by RGB30's battery woes)
hopefully no glaring issues vs 556/cube, then i can replace ktr1 and 28xx in one go
i kinda lucked out with no lightbleed oncube 😄
and i havent seen screen issues about 406v ... si hopefully screen will be fine this time here
ya and they should have the controls dialed down by now
but i bet 405m owners still have some PTSD from
only thing i recall is we cant remap the anbernic button by default right
anbernic with the original portal handheld
Yeah, it was always funny to me people did such a huge deal out of light bleed, and yet ignored the whole screen falling out of the shell thing
With the new 8bitdo controller getting attention, it's clearly time for a similar handheld design too. 😀
It wouldn't be two in a row as cubexx was in between.
Nah, I meant 406H then Arc Pro
probably gonna be 28xxV or something like that inbetween
RP Mini kinda killed the hype for this one for me
feels like too little too late now
Well it should be cheaper for a lot of folks, that's the main draw
I guess I'll be making a decision in December, either take this one, or grab a MagicX T1 (if they don't screw it up) and wait for the end-game Saturn handheld
i think i cant stand flat back ... given my experience with RP3+
similarly switch lite is very painfull on my hands
Oh, that's even less likely, only chance of an arc pro in this gen was if they'd done it instead of a regular 406h, which would have actually been a good way to make it more distinct from alternatives.
RG Arc didnt sell well, so I doubt they were even considering a new version, the good news is 406H has the same dpad and will be more compact (and analog sticks open it to more systems than just saturn)
T820 Arc might be too niche to be considered (If I was running Anbernic I wouldnt want to have another flop too, only this time more expensive to produce.)

i need my fullsega/n64 thing
which is also exactly why ARC was a failure ... too strong/pricey for jusr megadrive , too weak for saturn/dreamcast
and yet we have seen leaks of that arc XX and they have reused the circle dpad on other handhelds since.
Tbh, I think the arc was intended to try out some ideas (dpad and 6 buttons) while using up the last of their 3566 stock prior to the full switch to h700 for low to mid range
Arc seemed to do okay in China, people there love fighting/arcade stuff
At least I noticed a fairly regular stream of Arc posts on Baidu
Arc XX is fake 😛
But even if it wasnt fake, H700 handheld would be much cheaper than t820 to ptoduce. Not only because of the chip they use, but also ram, active cooling, bigger battery etc etc etc.
the color on that pic is so cool, please have more transparent options, anbernic
It’s like a mini Odin haha
They are reusing circle dpad because people loved it and the reviews liked it as well
also circle dpad is a good way to differentiate it from competition (Retroid)
i haven't tried this one, just the one on the arc, i hope it is good
Still looking for a nice deal
praying thats a final color
it would be better with the black buttons though
doesn't seem like it is final hardware as there's a mix of button colours
albeit just start/select
I just don’t get how that doesn’t look like every e-waste handheld on this rumor mill channel. It’s fairly ugly. With that said, If it’s only slightly bigger than the 405 and comes in black, I’ll grab it.. I hate to admit what I was hoping for was basically a more powerful ktr1
the take of all time
Tbh I don't think a lot of people are calling recent Anbernic handhelds pretty
They're just very comfy
Then again, if KT-R1 is your milestone in handheld design, what do I know
To me it looks pretty generic (not talking about specs or features, just design)
hey i just woke up when i wrote that. BUT, I guess I meant as a successor to the 405m, but plastic, with a top d-pad and a much better screen
a ton of people wrote how great it looked after that last photo, I was just responding to that and to me, it just looks like other ones people call ugly and cheap
I think most people who said "it's pretty" just love trans colors
haha fair
ayn locking the best colors behind the pro tier
🫠
I'm not a fan of transparent cases, think they also tend to look worse in larger devices too
fair
I built a clear case GBP once and quickly realised it looks much worse in person than it does on photos
Haven't considered clear cases since
I don’t think we’ll ever get a powerful top d pad device from anbernic besides the 406v
i think its cool the 406h has the sega dpad
Probably doesn't help that devices never seem designed with a transparent casing in mind so while the front can look good the back tends to look shite
if this comes in black im definitely getting it to replace my ktr1
poor steamdeck oled limited edition
will say my 28xx's transparent black shell definitely makes it a bit more fun than being opaque
@stark terrace would you still consider it even with the stacked shoulder buttons?
fyi
from what ive seen with the cube no one really had issues with comfort
this one's pretty small
i really liked how my rp3+ in ice blue looked, i think this tier still looks really good in transparent
odin 2 and bigger, yeah not for me
wide boi cube
photoshop
Coming from nitrix, i belive so lol
^ guys the real one is right here
definitely, just hoping it doesn't end up TOO chunky, and my design pref would be something closer to an RP4 in that way,(flat back but stacked triggers). I'm sure in the end this will look decent
six buttons ruins the experience for almost every other emulated system 😭
I want it in at least one handheld that can handle yaba saturn
At least one

Well I love other systems on those buttons. Not gonna convince anyone, just my preference
if it's n64 style layout you can easily use the 'c buttons' as ABXY
the sega layout definitely requires some changes
Nah, it's a preference really. I also heard some people complained there were some SNES games requiring combos that are hard to pull off on a non-diamond shape ABXY
Mario something, can't remember
i probably missed this conversation as i was busy body shaming the chunkyness of the design, but how do people feel about this d-pad, I assume it is the one from the cube? I don't like the look of the saturn style, but I have limited experience actually using it
the rg cube was a bit stuff compared to the arc apparently but they fixed that for the cubeXX supposedly so I would expect this one to be refined as well
I wish the DPad was up top
Was there a reason to mess with Arc's dpad in the first place?
I assumed it was the same design on all three devices, but looks like they abandoned the original two-piece dpad?
the cube one is slightly smaller
I was talking more about the fact that the Arc dpad has a hat that can be detached from the base that actually pressed the contact pads
Kinda like the original
yeah I just mean they had to make a new one for the cube anyway
so that's why they didn't just re-use the arc dpad exactly as is
not sure why they made the decisions they did on the new one
Then again I remember lots of people had a problem on the Arc where the dpad would start squeeking after a lot of use. Not having two separate parts would certainly solve that issue
It would also get stuck a lot. When pressing right.
It's the usual way, companies will try to iterate out of mechanical issues where possible, look at how phones moved away from trackballs to trackpads to just touchscreens as the main control method, less points of emchanical failure.
Obviously there's limits to how far these handhelds can go but any simplifications that reduce the chances of something breaking are going to be on their mind.
The fact they didn't go d-pad top with this is 100% guaranteed trustmebro PROOF they're reserving that for the Super Arc+. So yes, please buy this so I can get my Arc Pro Alpha immediately after.
Nah, there's I think two dudes in the 406 thread on Baidu who said anything about not having dpad on top
I assume Chinese gamers are simply more comfortable with the stick for most games
for a device that can do PSP, N64, and gamecube, why wouldnt you want the stick on top
It's almost as if this Discord server didn't have hundreds of pages worth of debate on the matter
Damn, I'm watching the RH podcast on 406, and it literally starts with the "the P is coming" joke, which heavily reminded me of all the "must use good urine" stuff
Psp is dpad top and no matter how beefy a device is I’m still going to play ps1 on it.
Yeah, I was also surprised to see PSP as an for argument for stick top
Guess it depends on the games you play? Stuff I played was dpad-heavy
Same
Even on PS2 there's a fuckton of dpad centric games.
I mean, it's really only Sony who consistently made dpad-top controllers — unlike Nintendo, Sega and Microsoft
all of the football games you can use the dpad to control but it feels so weird
I can't think of many d-pad centric games on ps2. Megaman X8, Klonoa 2, Boku no Natsuyumi 2, and I imagine the Tales games would feel good with a d-pad, at least during combat
Dpad on bot and not traditional cross
WHY ANBERNIC DO YOU NOT WANT MY MONEY
why couldn't rpmini have come with this screen 😭
i'll trustyoubro
They already did the traditional cross dpad on top for true retro enjoyers
i am an oled truther but the 406 screen is genuinely really fuckin good
i am just glad we are slowly moving drom the 480p deadlock
yet anbernic should face the facts
a lot of people will rather use the rg406h for d-pad centric games, than playing GCN/PS2 on it
it's 4:3
Who
it's high res
Is a lot of people in the room with us
you can integer scale almost every old system on this without huge bezels
go away you stick-top evil
Nuke our budget line basically
go and buy an Odin 2 Mini, leave the rg406h alone
also f* SEGA d-pads, I only like those for fighting games (which I don't play)
If 405m sales were indicative to anbernic of anything, I think it’s safe to assume they can repeat a stick top 4:3 shmedium handheld
Yah I won’t even use the dpad lmao
rg405m stick on top was just foolish
Still sold
Is this real? Lol
looks real enough
This looks like that fake render from 2 weeks ago
That specifically said in Chinese that it was fake
well, I wouldn't put a bunch of shitty colors beyond Anbernic
Omg the fisher price on acid one is mine
its nittrix most of his shit is fake
Yeah thats why I asked lol
well, I guess the real product will be slightly more rounded and has some CUBE-like ergo bumps
as long as they do a solid black unit
transparent black just looks cheap on these higher end devices imo
bit of a shame that they haven't done a single good color for the rg406v
Yeah solid black please
Which they’ve done for pretty much everything but the 406 lol
The whole image
oh thats old and also a fan mokcup
Yea it literally translates to this is fake lol
this in black pleeeaaaassseeee
assuming it has cube grips, and the Dpad is in a comfortable usable position. I think this will be the one I get this gen
that orange lol
wasnt it H and not P?
well its solved then lol
gonna leave it bc that orange is fire
yeah, that orange/blue is hot
don’t have a 406v but even I know it’s peak, probably the current best t820, the design is so much better than the one on the 405v, the controls are peak, the layout is like a ps controller, and it’s small enough to easily take around with a bag.
also LOL the 406v is going to end up being smaller than the rg406h (albeit a little thicker)
the design is almost exactly the same as the 405v lol
i just got my 405M and this thing is just perfect. i wish the 406P was the same design just plastic and T820...
the rounded shoulders will be more comfortable and playable but will add a lot of bulk.
so how wide would 406H likely be
I like them for shmups
the reason its not is because they use cooling with the T820s
@twin kestrel it's probably gonna be between the 405m and rp3

i would say very close to ktr1
thats gonna be perfect for me
I can't see this being pocketable enough to replace the 28xx
i dont actually pocket my 28xx as much as i thought, it stays in my bag so it works out for me
ah, for me the whole point of the 28xx is to keep it on my person literally all day every day
nice, i think i only do that if i dont actually bring any sort of bag when going out
all my handhelds go in a bag
rp5 moment
steamdeck bros gonna say their device is pocketable anyways
just get a steamdeck
It's shaping up to be the best GC/PS2 so far, but it's not replacing my 28xx and MagicX MiniM.
ill still probably keep the 28xx for my jacket/pocket
but definitely gonna replace my kt if there are no glaring issues
if only rp mini didnt have a glass front cause prefer dpad top but well
that's why it was an acceptable choice on the CUBE, but the 406h, nope, go away with this
there will probably be someone on etsy making a mod 😄
mod for a traditional cross dpad? 👀
wait so underneath the disc dpad thing its still a cross cutout in the shell?
i think theres a rg cube teardown
i mean , there are even stacked shoulder buttons mods for 405m
where is a will, there is a way
☹️
why would you make it worse
i really really want to say something about certain RPMini thing 😄 but i wont 😛
this is a safe space
Inb4 "t820 isnt powerful enough for me"
nah |it would be joke ||about shaders making things look works || 😛 aka comeback on nickels post 😛
Honestly this for high end emulation, steamdeck for games and another SP (I bought two, sold one and dropped the other shortly after) and I will be set
is SP a nostalgia thing? ... never understood the appeal of it
or might be just my PTSD from GPD Win2's hinge issues
It’s a clamshell so I don’t have to worry about the screen as much as the other xx series devices
Aside from that it’s not a super preference for me
i am kinda more scared of hinge breaking than from a screen breaking
yes
its a good design but it is nostalgia kicking everyones asses
now if they made a ds or a 3ds styled clampshell i am folding
i have been kinda slowly consolidaning my collection lately 😄 ... thx to the recent move outside of 480p deadlock with some devices 😄
when i am done ... i will finally get number of devices under 20
sold bunch of old 4:3 horizontals and replaced it by RPMini , plan to basically sell my whole vertical collection and buy just Brick and 406v, turned buggy rgb30 into cube, sold all 16:9 emulators and kept just Odin2 and waiting for RP5 and last plan to get the weird dualDpad thing from MagicX to replace my OGA 😄
although
well might not be as much of a consolidation when its matter of selling 9 devices to buy 5

So 3ds would probably look similar to this right ? On the 406h
im trying to figure out the best layout for dual screen mode
i have seen people trying various layouts
but i mostly just use tiniest at the bottom ... and switch the screens when needed (most games doesnt really use the screen all that much beyond like map)
i wanted it small but still readable
i think thats about as small as I can go lol
zelda has to be able to click it too.
yeah i havent been trying 3ds on 4:3 ever since i got Cube 😄
and there i basically use three layouts depending on a game
- "fulslcreen top and hotkey switch when needed" (games where its just a map or inventory),
- max width top screen and superminimal bottom one (just to know its there but dont nead readable)
- bottom just big enough to be readable and clicable (for games when its actualyl needed for gameplay)
wiedlyy , unlike with NDS ... there isnt all that much games in the 3rd categoty
Currently I have a steam deck, OLED switch, Vita, 3ds, MM+, rg280m, and V90 but I am looking to get rid of the lower end handhelds. Not a crazy collection
the actuall super lowend i am still for now keeping as "bottow to family members" ... the likes of Model S or 🐸 for example
but i do have unhealthy amount of them .... but i do have lots of them for specific usecases or platforms
#🏆│device-showcase message
this was basically my collection before ordering RP5, RPMini and RGCube and after selling of LCDeck and buch of ooold 4:3s 😄
kinda went too deep into this rabbit hole
and kinda blame the long wait for "406p" for lots of it
cant believe a clamshell with fullsize sticks actually exists
I have a steam deck, OLED switch, rg405m, rgb10x, MM+ ... but im about to give away the MM+ as a gift pre-set up with Onion and games. rgb10x ill prob keep for portmaster. and main 405m out of the house. steam deck at home.
switch usually stays on the TV
Powkiddy A13 ..... i wish there was upgraded version capable of way more MAME.... it has really old SoC so lots of newer stuff is laggy as hell .
I was getting shit for this earlier!!!! I stand by my original comment of basically wanting this to be a KTR1
Gotta be specific, want it to be the size of a ktr1
If you look at their stuff, they weirdly seem to dodge solid black for their verticals
Yeah I’m down with big handhelds but for anything vita sized or smaller I want flat and pocketable
I need more transparent color ways in my life.

This should be the exact same performance on a hypothetical 406H, right?
Yes
yep!
did you not really pay attention to the other t820 handhelds?
I guess I haven't really paid attention to the devices above $100 since those were always out of my budget
Is the Handhelds sheet wrong here? Same CPU and GPU but Gamecube is B+ instead of A?
also felt that
remember when retroid was like somewhat budget friendly

porbably that yeah .... i dont think i ever seen analog triggers on vertical
part of me thinks anbernic couldve done it but kinda gave up when the mini was announced
makes me wonder .... is there even any actual game that uses it xtensivly on GC beyond Mario Sunshine?
racing games, luigi's mansion,
hmm will have to try more 😄 never really noticed outside of Sunshine's full pull and halfpull waterspreading
i think analog triggers are a gimmick that stuck around 😭
its funny because nintendo doesnt even use them
really makes u think
if yes, its much better to buy rg40xxH
you fool
better screen and controls
and less risk of the battery being a shit
and the ability to play all of n64 and DC without caveats.

yep lol ... thats been the weirdest part of switch for me
hd rumble is essential i assure you
You prefer to play DC and N64 with dpad? 😮
I never understood people playing N64 on SP
n64 on the 28xx
I made a note in that cell, someone requested the previous A grade on GameCube for the RG406V to be changed to B+ just because of the lack of analog triggers, even though it is technically capable of an A grade.. I just went along with it and changed it to B+
agreed, weird decision and it reduced the amount of ports, as more realistic racing games are terrible without analog triggers
and also made bunch of pretty nice 3rd party controllers .... kinda shit for general use cause "they were made primary for switch" 😕
Dpad on top or bottom really doesn't matter to me and I mainly play platformers
and to be honest it looks like it still will be comfy to use
just slightly below the stick
I just hope they will make it in green or blue (transparent or not doesnt matter) but even if not I will buy it anyway, it really looks like their best handheld so far
I really like the dpad on the Cube, much more as on the ARC
Will this be Android or Linux based?
4 inch 4:3 is the best size for retro systems by far, love it on my rg40xxH and will love hi res version on Rg406H more, also stick on top for higher end systems 🥰
its android for sure, like rg406V
but to be honest now with Emulation Station on Android its not so bad
Every morning about this time I'm gonna be keeping my eyes on Anbernic's YouTube page, since it's usually not long after a leak that we get the full reveal. I'm guessing Anbernic probably leaks pictures like the one we got of the RG406H yesterday intentionally to build a little hype in the community before they officially show off a new device, and this sure is an exciting one!
they do it for sure, I even think they leak some other info first to check if there's interest in the community
like they did with SP over a year ago
or Arc XX (which will not happen probably as most of the community doesnt see a point)
It's not likely since Anbernic doesn't like to repeat exact colorways on a device, but man do I ever hope they actually do the off white with red buttons colorway from the Cube for the 406H. That is just SUCH a nice looking color combo and I want it like a fat kid wants cake... which I should know, cause I was a fat kid XD
I have the cube in this color and would prefer the DMG of the XX model... 😮💨
I vote they do Red/White, DMG, then Atomic Purple for the transparent device crowd ^_^
bring back 280m colorway
That one was weird. Someone found an Anbernic picture from a year ago and presented it as a recent leak. It even had 2023 written on the watermark
this has to be a bad edit tho, right side looks way bigger than left, and while I honestly hope they make it a bit bigger to inset the stick/d-pad properly, I doubt they would only do it on one side
give me the chonky boy
I believe they might just be checking if there is interest for this kind of device
Looks cool and comfy, but would be definetly too big for my use
I want RG406H to use it outside of home
I need to learn how to reg on Baidu, I'd freaking flood them with requests for a faster Arc
Behold! The Anber Deck! XD
I'm still massively torn between whether to stick with my RG556 or give the RG406H a try. On one hand almost all the content I play works best on a 4:3 screen and I really like Sega style D-pads best and wish the analog sticks on the 556 were a little better, but on the other hand the 556 has a 1080p AMOLED screen and ridiculously comfy ergonomics thanks to the grip handles on the bottom. Pocketability is of no concern to me, I've got RG40XX H and a Miyoo Mini Plus if I want to toss something in my pocket, so it just kinda comes down to a few nitpicky feature choices.
Realistically I'll probably pick up an RG406H just to compare it to the 556, then keep whichever of the two I prefer and sell the other ^_^
556 >

Wait 3-6 months and get a 557 with better sticks and a spec bump
i asked for that change due to not having analog triggers
I really like the 4:3 screen and 720p is great for scaling, and I could live without OLED. But I'd really appreciate a slightly beefier SoC fitting the screen well and beeing able to run all 4:3 consoles properly. But this T820 seems a bit short at this. Dolphin needs 2x for 720p. Most PS2 games beeing actually 448p, AetherSX2 would need 1.75x to make the handheld truly attractive.
wait the rg408h/p/v™
I had a 405M and this 406H did not come so fast.
there is a huge difference, from barely running gamecube to emulating a good 80% of ps2 library
Yes but not enough to be really good at GC and PS2. So you don't really step up that much in terms of the consoles it plays. It doesn't not really add GC and PS2.
❓
My english is probably not the best, sorry.
i think the ratings dont account for upscaling to match the device's screen resolution
but the t820 should handle them at 1x resolution well enough
i think, but its powerful enough for them at least at 1.5x
Indeed, they don’t. And as I like 1x but with CRT shaders, I vastly prefer full device res when shaders are not possible. And I doubt 720p is enough for CRT shaders.
Plus Dolphin is 1x or 2x, without in between I think.
The 405M was good for anything below PS2 and GC, with these consoles as a bonus for partial support. So as to claim as a true successor, the 406H should run these consoles smoothly IMO.
Even more so with the Retroids arround.
you dont know what ur talkin about when it comes to the t820 and thats okay😞
I don't own a T820 so I refer to a community spreadsheet for the 406V.
Posted above I think.
spreadsheets only tell so much
Spreadsheets are often too optimistic rather than over-negative.
but yeah the 820 can handle 1.75x ps2
honestly the only game ive actually needed to run at native rez for it to work was kirby planet robobot lmfao
dont think there was ever really a "generational leap" of new systems that can 100% run every anbernic handheld generation (xx3 to xx5 to xx6)
who knows maybe the xx7 can just run yet a few more gc/ps2 games better but still not the entire library
well
theres always gonna be a limit because not every ps2 is compatible with nethersx
Of course. There always will be the emulators limitations. I don't expect a device to be able to brute force every single game to say it is PS2 or GC ready. That would not be very fair.
transformers armada and dirge of cerebus come to mind
the odin 2 ???
true, we are getting to the point of software/emu limtations with how good the hardware is catching up
i wouldnt know, i play gba on my odin 2
I think that even Odin2 doesn't brute force everything perfectly at device resolution. But I might be wrong.
ur wrong abt along of things so maybe?
8gen2 is crazy
Yes maybe. But maybe the T820 doesn't swallow 90-95% of PS2 and GC library at 1.75x and 2x respectively.
yeah that game is
something
A benchmark lol
im fine with the n64 version ngl 🫡🫡🫡
so thats what F means, fine
i dont have to like
What
nvm that joke went over heads ill see myself out
sorry
Sadge
That reminds me I need to try GX on dolphin MMJR2
See if I can get a steady full speed
i got this weird mario kart wii mod to work on mmjr2
I got MH Tri working on MMJR2
new MH game is on beta atm until the weekend btw
Oh shit thanks for reminding me
The screen will still play and look better than what’s on the 405m by a big margin
I’m fine with 1x tbh
I like shaders more than upscaling
heh i am exactly the oppsite 😄
On early 3D (ps1, psp, ps2) the upscaling on 3D elements mixed with the low res 2d UI etc looks real bad to me
I’d have to go all in on texture packs etc
And that is a lot of work
That's why I like you Pope honesty
so i just sold my 405v 😄 time to wait for 406v deals 😄
I want accuracy in my emulation
tbh i upscale them even on 1440p 😄 and i always found shaders worse 😛
shaders on higher resolution screens look so great
my favorite handheld for ps1 is the odin 2 bc it can run retro crisis lol
also x1 resolution
no, lmao
anyway, glad they got the dpad right, symetricers die
gg
Damn do people like GT now
I only just recently caught up on Super so I'm behind on the Dragon Ball opinion zeitgeist
Imagine a handheld with a 1440p 4:3 miniled for crt shaders
loud minority
did you read the manga
GT has a really bad start, one good arc, a really bad arc, an ok arc, and a bizarrely great ending
I mostly read the manga for Super, though I haven't read the manga original stuff and I haven't seen Super Hero yet
stop making me dream
yeah the manga original stuff and super hero movie is genuinely really fucking great
I'm definitely interested, it all seems really cool. I stopped temporarily where I did because it was all I needed for Sparking Zero but I'll go back to it at some point
That is even kinda shit on the RP4P
Unfortunately, a skip for me just like the 405m
Dpad on bottom with a 4:3 screen is objectively bad design
Would be fine if you as least had a wider body and an inset dpad
But this looks rough
I bought the CubeXX entirely for the dpad position... I also have a Cube, and I really wish it had a top d-pad.
Same! CubeXX coming soon for me
Cube is basically my endgame device... except for that damn d-pad position. I've bound the stick to d-pad inputs for most things and am just getting used to using that, but it still bugs me.
405m with an 865 would be my end game device
406h isnt quite it, rp mini isnt it either 😦
but T820 and 865 need active cooling, so my end game might not be possible
I was considering the 406h, but bottom dpad means I won't get it. I might get the 406V, but I also feel kinda silly getting a second T820, lol
i just got my 405M and i love it so much
its literally pocketable. its smaller than my iPhone. I throw it in the drawstring bag from the steam deck's power supply and into my pocket.
405m also fits nicely in those thin psp sleeves
the 406H wont be pocketable because of the stacked triggers
itll be nice ergonomically im sure
What kind of unholy abomination is that
yeah i got one of those too, seeing which is better
i got the vita sleeve. i was told it fits better than psp1/2000
Looks like a scrunched up Odin 2 Portal
It looks horrible
Just nittrx taking some mock up and petrending it’s real
Putting smoke up our assholes like usual
My farts look magical at this point
when the 406 is H instead of M 😞
can we be honest metal shells are the same as frontglass
Be careful, you're going to will a metal frontglass handheld into existence
inline triggers hurt
they genuinely hurt to use idk why people want them back
ayaneo already taking notes for their next handheld only 50 people buy

to fit my pocket
and it doesnt hurt me
I feel like inline triggers on stronger handhelds kinda died out
Kinda sad but the flat slab, candy bar era seems to be over
Me too. And as I mentioned just above, I have doubts about 720p beeing enough for shaders. On 1080p, the AetherSX2 triangle mask works fine but I am afraid that it won't be so good with 720p.
the saviors of the candybar are magicx and powkiddy 🤔🤔🤔🤔
you might be right.
Powkiddy are gonna wait for the rp5 pre sale to end though so the rp5 will be $225 and seem way more expensive
That’s just a guess though
Maybe they’ll cancel the Max4 entirely
i thought it already ended
😭
Nah they have to ship out all pre orders first
ohh
You can still use code RP5SAVE10
i am still neutral on the 5 because of its design ngl
Until probably the end of the month
This week reviews will drop
Maybe next week Monday or Tuesday
But in sure reviewers are exited and want to get this out quickly
Unlike with the 406v where some reviewers even forgot they had it
he mostly shares stuff from chinese social media
including lots of weird mockups
like Ayn Cube here
Yeah and it’s very hit or miss
bobert wulf
I was referring to someone with less hair
Think he didn’t want his review unit
the joebert
i think a good chunk of the community is starting to get sick of anbernics shit ngl
I dont understand it to be honest, I mean they dont have to buy every single handheld and having more choice should be a good thing.
I mean it could be bad for their competitors but for us consumers its definetly good
yeah, if anything they should have more choice - I think a lot of people would be happy if there was a dpad top 406h sku as well as the stick top one
or a flatter 406
maybe those could be the same - an RG retro with recessed sticks, inline shoulders, dpad top but still t820 and 4:3
(I know the RG stands for 'retro game')
Bob got confused and thought it will be almost the same as rg40xxV xD
the pocket micro is gross tho. I literally just want the 405M but T820 or 865, plastic with 4" 720p screen 😦
I believe the issue with more T820 handhelds is that they are more expensive to produce than H700, so its harder to return investment
that would be endgame for me
Stick or dpad up top?
im not partial to either.
straight to jail
Maybe the KT-R2 will be the closest to that 😆
4.5" aghhhh not pocketable lol
that said, im quite happy w/ my 405m and games I can play.
you guys remember that they are also making 3:2 device, right, it leaked a while ago with rg406 and its screen specs
GT was always and still is hated because the dub is total dogshit and completely changes the story and characters by making them all heroic, edgy and super wordy
Sub is a lot better though
and super was just that bad that it ended up boosting GT stocks ngl
i got confused by the Netflix show cuz I never watched GT but since they were chibi in GT i assumed this was GT lol
nobody was chibi in gt?
i thought the premise of GT was goku was a kid again
other than goku ig, who wasnt chibi he was deaged
I liked Super :(
daima goku is actually chibi, because his design doesnt look like he did as a child
despite being turned into a child
oh
p weird
Sounds similar to the original Z dub then. I can't handle Dragon Ball subbed though it's so weird to me lol. I should look into the differences though I'm definitely curious
nah they arent even close
can someone tell me more about this 3:2 T820 device
The GT dub has Vegeta's "moostache" line so it's goated either way
what screen size
goku becomes an edgy philosopher who monologues about moral equivalence and stuff
where can isee more about this? 3:2 what screen size?
so bad lol
anyway, top stick supremacy for the rg406
yippee
sean schemmel voicing Goku mimicking Batman giving a Superman speech.
I think we only got the resolution for it:
I'm sure they will release right before MagicX Mini32
(to undercut their sales like they did with Z1 Unicorn)
im only interested in T820 or better device under $200 lol
It's not really possible for them to come out with a device to make everyone happy, so they may as well pick the one they think will sell best, then some competitor will come and do it with the other configuration, and us as consumers get the win
People gave anbernic so much shit for not doing stacked triggers that they eventually gave in
Gotta admit, depending on the screen size I'd probably pick that one over the 406
But I don't think anything has been ever mentioned about Anbernic doing 3:2 since then
you know what would be based? if that 3:2 was just a fat tablet and we could bring our own controller attachment for horizontal or vertical attachment.
what about a 3:2 that could be configured both ways 😮
with the included controller
i want a 3:2 the long way
I wonder what size and what chipset they'd use for it
I mean it might be t820, or it might be h700, or it might be whatever they're switching to after those for their flagship and budget lines.
so four options, two of which we are completely unaware of
the unisoc t620:
I'm very curious what comes after the h700 in their budget handhelds. I hope it can do the full psp library (maybe barring 1 or 2 outlier games) at 2x.
if that one slop handheld can get it anbernic could also
I'm surprised we didn't see more t610 budget stuff after the 2s
honestly same
that chip would basically be good enough for anything I care about
but maybe no more phones with it were being made?
I don't need ps2/gc on a handheld (at least not a smaller one than my ally X)
oh shit here we go
https://www.indiatvnews.com/amp/technology/news/vivo-y19s-launched-with-unisoc-t612-chip-5500mah-battery-and-more-details-2024-10-17-957662
The Vivo Y19s weighs 198 grams and comes in a sleek and comfortable design. It is built to cater to users who are looking for a feature-rich device with a budget-friendly price point. Here is everything you need to know about the device.
Babe new Anbernic XXX line just dropped

Basically something either cheaper, or slightly better at N64, Dreamcast, and PSP? Similar to the G99 or T618? The H700 is similar performance to the 3566, but cheaper.

nowhere near G99's league yet.
Yeah, but unless they're willing to abandon Linux on these, I'm not sure if there's a cheap option that can do those and be small (so no RK3576 or something)
yeah it's a pickle
they won't want to switch to android and have to put touchscreens and emmcs in all these either
these are 4 budget handheld
H700 is pretty much in an ideal place, the cost to get a meaningfully more powerful chip is just too high (for a budget device). I could see them switching entirely to android though, get all their products on one platform.
i want to see a G99 handheld in the $150 range
If Alldocube can make a $99 G99 tablet...
I like the simplicity of Linux on the cheaper devices
if i was only setting up retroarch like on cheaper devices, there was literally zero setup on GammaOS.
All the right emulators already set up for you, PortMaster support too
it was all preloaded
only needed to install non retroarch stuff.
yah, portmaster is amazing tho
one reason to look at RP mini/rp5 is linux support
... the zpg unicorn
and it got crushed by the rg cube 🤔😭
Man I wish Retroid released a bigger 4:3 device
G99 seems to be a perfect mid-range chip,
small company without the same brand recognition as anbernic, microswitch buttons, endless delays and availability issues, always gonna be niche because 1:1
very different than if anbernic or powkiddy did a 3:2 g99 ayaneo pocket micro competitor
dont make people hopeful on the kt
10" 1440p 4:3 hanhdeld?
3:2 anbernic handheld? just the old 351 stuff iirc
4" 4:3 720p bezel-less phone shaped T820/865 OLED inline trigger device that weighs less than 300g

stick top
Odds are that there wasn't the stock and/or scope for it to drop down from rp2s pricing down to XX pricing
A 3:2 handheld that wasn't an overpriced boxy and pointlessly metal thing would be very nice
I don't like the grandstanding videos where these reviewers state they are stopping to review these products to "send a message to Anbernic" as if there is anything at all negative with Anbernic making a ton of fun devices that people love to collect and even just watch content about. They are also continuously providing higher quality at lower prices and forcing companies like Powkiddy to improve imo.
If a reviewer stops reviewing these devices because of lack of interest from them or their audience, then I completely understand that and am not talking about them.
like a 3:2 brick that has magnetic attachment points on all sides for the controllers?
yeah, some way of attaching, anyway.
how many of you would buy a 4" 4:3 720p bezel-less phone shaped T820/865 performance level OLED? inline trigger device that weighs less than 300g for $200 or less.
Inline triggers for GC/PS2? Big nope. And definitely not for $200.
Don't care for OLED, really.
I would
I don’t care about ps2/gc
yeah after seeing how pocketable the 405m is, i dont think i can go any fatter or bigger
405m is peak build quality and size for me
just wish it had a slightly faster cpu
and 720p screen would be nice too
I could defintely see it getting stale for reviewers in the current landscape of snapdragon, T820 and H700 everything with different formfactors
in taht case you could probably go for lower SoC ... those tho seem overkill at that stage
I'd commit war crimes for a 4" square smartphone
i would want just regular small smartophone
and not the modern 7"+ paddles everywhere
The problem is going for a lower SoC usually gets you worse controls/screens since those improve over time and also you barely get any price break for going back a gen. Like buying a 405v vs 406v right now I don’t care about t618 vs t820 but the 406 has controller and screen improvements I want.
(And the “discount” for going back to the 405v is not significant)
Having overkill level power also tends to help with battery life, shaders, general OS snappiness, fast forward, etc
true bu i guess we might be changin for next year at least from the screen point of vie seemingly 🙂
will be interesting to watch
Yeah, I just hope improvements doesn’t translate to “never making a flat pocketable device again because people won’t shut up about wanting taller sticks and analog triggers on every handheld”
I want a flat pocketable widescreen candybar for psp+gba
i guess a 4" square phone would work too just add a vise-style controller lol
funnyily enough now that you mentioned it i basically plan to move from 405v to 406v just for the sticks and screen 😄
The new screen is so good
(as part of my consolodiation of verticals to just 406v and trimui brick)
Integer scales GBC, gba, gamegear, and psp
hear me out
inline analog triggers
I’m down
retractable full sized sticks
Turtle beach did this for their latest gamepad
which will be basically paid for drirectly by selling all of my current verticals i will be replacing 😄
Right now my setup is 28xx, 406v, ally X
28xx/ktr1/odin2
hopefully gonna be
28xx/406h/odin2
rgb10x, 405m, steam deck. for me. waiting on a flip device that's better than rg35xxsp
had a couple windows handhelds the past year or so, just never ended up using them as much
35xx SP, O2 Mini, Loki Max
heh, seems like everyone has 3 devicese
I have many more
my current "in my work bag " traveling with me daily setup is 35xx , SDOled and RG Cube
my main 2 are 406V and steam deck
I’d love to replace my current 3 with a flip 2 or equivalent so I don’t have to pick between powerful and pocketable, and replace the X with a tablet form factor if someone makes a good one (legion go 2/3 if they can catch up to asus in other ways like battery, fan noise, etc)
I'm gifting my 406V to my brother in law
He loves the steam deck so it's only fitting
i love the steam deck's power, but i like the 405m's size/screen ratio. both serve different purposes. i take my 405M outside while steam deck stays home
rgb10x is just a fun little linux device for portmaster
but i will be changing it up soon .... with RPMini arriving in day or two
ill probably gift that to someone this christmas.
and will be switching SDOled and LenovoGo with my gf next time we meet (she got caught playing Balatro at work during meeting so we are changing that as part of her balatro detox)
i have balatro on my rgb10x 🤣
Balatro 28XX duh
^ easier to hide
we only have the orange one 😄
Balatro to Thumby port when
the colour gives it away too much

and its clicky clacky vs the LeGo tablet screen
Also fair
wow another anbernic device
this is the most traction ive seen from a rumor thread for one 😭
well the 406v one was also nuts because sniffer and pope
The people are starving for better 4:3 devices
the rp mini in the room
its insane how that screen is flawed for shaders
it might be fixable
we still don't know
like if you dont use em it doesnt matter but if you do its a dealbreaker
you can't really integer scale on it right now either unfortunately
so it's not just shader people in trouble, it's anyone who cares about pixel presentation
again, anbernic survives through dumb luck
I don't think anbernic thinks about retroid at all - there are entire countries retroid does not even ship to where anbernic probably sells more in a month than retroid does in a year
retroid is small potatoes compared to anbernic on sheer volume
LOL
not that big difference when you account for whats actually displayed
although my snaptool straight line drawing is msiserable 😄
Actually bigger difference than 3.7 vs 3.5:
It's math , yeah
... I just wanted to account for what's actually displayed
RPM had >6K messages in under three days, that one was crazy
Nothing compares to this though
Logically that would make sense, but in practice Anbernic is sometimes driven by sheer pettiness
Like, ZPG is even smaller in both scale and store presence and yet Anbernic went after them
i wouldnt mind if they went after the ktr1 but i guess its not relevant for them
406h wouldve been the one besides stacked shoulders
ZPG needs to merely announce a 3:2 G99 handheld, that would set the wheels in motion
They don't even have to do it
Just make a 3D render and post it a couple of times on Baidu
That would be enough for Max to enter his rage mode
One day we'll make a documentary on it, the title should be "Ass versus urine: the Baidu wars"
