#Switch 2
1 messages · Page 7 of 1
I have a physical copy of Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition. I just looked up prices and it seems I can sell it for about as much as Switch 2?
Fsr it can
It's now a race between switch 2 and onexsugar, lol
no, not stably. fsr doesn't give it more cpu headroom.
Even at lowest of low settings i can't get 40fps steady in elden ring
I meant frame gen
framegen on 30fps content 💀
You have to get 720p to get 40fps or steady 30fps
Sometime it looks ok other times it doesn’t
It's like this steam deck is like xbox one s or og ps4 some of them would do 1080p to 900p but mostly would do 720p
When it comes to docked
The game share is nice where you can do like Mario with 3 other people on your game
the local share is dope
i also like the digital cartridges for the fam
i mean i guess you can sell digital games in person now too
People can get angry at nintendo for some games not being cartridges and stuff I get it I saw it on switch 1 games but in the end of the day switch 2 would be last system properly handheld to support physical media
sell games on ebay "please send back switch when done"
bro it is only an hdmi with fan 😭
Believe me the games they announced were great. First parry and third party support are there.
It's just the prices
Prices I know people would be annoyed with it
I'm not tho £395 for base and 429 for bundle is good deal for me
Game prices yeah vio
My one was new James bond that got me saying nintendo got me right there
Just woke up from a nap and im not really pissed at the console prices (kinda expected those with looming tariffs, inflation, and all), but the game prices are a little eeeeeh
Yes game prices was like Jesus
that game has not shown gameplay for many years, the worst thing is that it still does not have a defined title lmao
I doubt it will be called Project 007
I think we might have a 3ds situation where after a few months of low sales, Nintendo might slash it by a solid amount
Making it worse if I buy the base model 395 and mario kart world separately it would be more than bundle alone
I don't care its project 007 007 in Spanish or French 007 I need that
ehhhh
I was responding to Ghetto
proyecto cero cero siete 🔥
I need that game dawg
ah, yeah, i went no bundle. Won't be playing mario kart but working through backlog, by the time i want to buy new games there will be more stuff i'm interested in XD
I don't think we have a release date for Perfect Dark yet
It's been 15 years since we got brand new game for 007 and I'm not counting that 007 remake for ps3
or i pick up mario kart on black friday for probably around the same price and physical
That's assuming games don't cost $120 by then
I imagine Nintendo might sneakily increase the US RRP for the Switch 2 soon.
For me, New Mario Kart + working through my backlog of Switch 1 games will be my main goal until things level out. Especially since there are a ton of great Switch 1 games that will benefit from the 2
yeah, the backlog def helps with the decision
👀👀👀👀
China tariff before this announcement was at 20% I believe?
The 450 is the recommended price (with the idea that tariffs will come into play) so I think they trying to play ahead of them
This one and since this is my first time owing a switch this I'd perfect decison
dont they manufacture switches in vietnam?
rip
Yeah, nobody wants everything to get scalped and then have tarrifs doubling force them to raise prices after that
Some of them, but the majority is still china
That would be even worse for Americans
whose to say vietnam isn't next on tarrif list anyway
Uk 10%
Clothes and shoes are mostly made in Vietnam and Bangladesh now.
they are getting hit more than china
Mexico
too
lol, didn't even know
i remember reading about factories being moved there by the end of covid
46%. THem Nike's about to increase in price 1.5x
So this will after switch 2 launch
Or before
fuck me, i don't wanna buy american everything, it's expensive as shit, and is still garbage
WHYYYYYYY
From what I'm reading, it's immediate as of now.
Oh calm 10% for uk I can take that
Yaaaaay /s
overseas and under 800 is quickly becoming the only option while it lasts
Looks like Tariffs are just for everything now even games will be part of this tariffs
switch dirrect and tarriff direct
Nightmare
the best kind of directs
I’ll be driving to Mexico for games now
In fact trump got elected and decided to do this just fucked everyone over is funny to me
ok, this is kinda cute
Personally I wouldn't have that
i mean he said he'd do it, and his base was like YEAH LETS GOOOOO
Americans have until May 2nd
https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/04/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-closes-de-minimis-exemptions-to-combat-chinas-role-in-americas-synthetic-opioid-crisis/
but they don't think too far past the minute
fuck me, well, gg handhelds
it was fun
That's why I'm laughing because I knew this would happen
Y'all better be doing your shopping now.
more like, it better have already shipped
my refurbed new 3ds not gonna make it
poor boy
Shipped with DHL. Even paying extra for shipping with DHL will be cheaper than the tariffs
will have to put it down
DHL be cashing in
they still make you pay tarrifs
they did last time
Okay im buying that
the only hope is getting your shit packed in freight by boat and praying, lol
They already started in ail express but luckily the price adjustment is there
Thank Jeebus I'm not American then
Me too
yeah man, i'm jealous
Fuck
we were talking bout 3rd world earlier, but we'll be there soon
I wish I wasn't rn
I can't imagine to get fucked like this
and fucked with no plan, like zero plan
if there is a plan, it's guaranteed one that gets a bunch of rich buddies richer
I wish people who voted trump I wish I can see their faces
I would laugh at them
i dunno man, it's a cult, i don't think it'll matter
That has always been the plan
ANyway, I guess more motivation for y'all to buy the Switch 2 earlier. Early bird discount. Dodge the tariffs!
Innit
How will this impact super sp production
Production unaffected. Final price tag affected
No english pack now, we gotta all learn chinese
just for US
Get ready to learn Chinese buddy 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am seriously concerned about the onexsugar price now though
oh, with the dropping of de minimis, i'm out, lol
unless i can find a country to proxy it through with no tarrifs
are we tarrifing luxembourg?
madagascar?
All countries getting a blanket 10% I believe

The proxy business about to boom.
I hate it here
This man is gonna kill us and he doesn't care
And thus a thousand Luigis were born XD
10,000
could get nutty , yeah
Civil War the film looking less and less like fiction by the day
https://youtu.be/ay854sG_dDc?si=6bv6qtYlcMcGiYMA had to laugh at the kill switch reveal. They have a dock extender that puts switch on the outside. So means it will heat up and not get cooling from dock 😅
Give us your money immediately: https://dbrand.com/switch-2
I guess this what happens when all you have is a 3d model sent to you
Case itself is nice though
yeah, i'd maybe get the case, but def gonna need to take it off when docking
The way dbrand was dying to release this 😭😭😭😭😭🤣
fan in the dock is a really good idea tho, glad they did it this time
Just got 256gb sd express from Amazon italy. As works out to be £55. On UK amazon same card is £80. Imagine nintendo will also be priced around same
Just a tip
I’ll DM you a link
Buy them memory cards before tariffs hit!
Yes shop around now. Prices about to sky rocket. SD express is already really expensive 😅
I have a 1 TB MicroSD card ready
Won't work in the Switch 2 unless it's SDExpress
Sandisk sell max of 256gb. Lexar sell up to 1TB. But its almost half the cost of a switch 2 😅
Nabbed a 256gb one while prices still ok. Bet they will skyrocket tomorrow though
Oof, considering there are some digital only games, imagine storage will be a premium
Wtf is SD Express
Yep, express is expensive
And why is it like this
Speeds
Like 10x speed
So there's nothing in between huh, just $60 or $200
sd express cards not even available in canada amazon
I didn't even know they existed until this morning
I live in UK but am importing one from Italy. Just to get a decent price 🤣
It's this one
The Superior Series memory cards featureA New Standard For App Responsiveness With an advanced A2 rating, the Superior microSDXC UHS-I card is specifically designed for app enhancement. Minimum random read of 4,000 IOPS and random write of 2,000 IOPS equate to lightning-fast launches and smoother...
Which from what I see
It's not SD Express
Oh Lexar has some in between
Not sd express
Won't work
512 for $100
They have an EX on them
Lexar has 1tb express for $200 on amazon usa.
Yeah if you go to listing they have 512 and 256 options too, the 256 lexar is $10 cheaper than SanDisk
imo if you're buying you should just go for the 1tb.
Prices will go up tomorrow i bet
otherwise just suffer with the built in 256gb
1tb express is crazy expensive
I mean 256 still doubling your storage. I don't even know If I'll be able to get my hands on a switch 2 right away at this point lol
surprisingly linear cost increase
£80 in UK for 256gb atm
this one already sold out at BB? Or maybe was never available yet
if switch 2 has hot swap SD cards I think I'd go for a single 512gb at launch and then get another when it goes on sale
I know I won't
Even 512gb is £100 atm in UK. Crazy prices
Fudge do I really want to spend $100 today on a card out of fomo 'just in case'
Prices will go up short term due to tariffs, then long term (5 years or so) it'll go down
I'm not spending that much for 256 GBs
Well. Depends on the camera industry really.
I got a 256gb one for now. Thats still double storage
Fuck that shit
Memory card prices only go down if the memory card is widely adopted by the camera industry.
Will get a better one at later stage
high end cams already using CFexpress
MicroSD isn't exactly popular with camera manufacturers.
I'll buy your 256 GB one when you do
Guranteed
I can't imagine MicroSD Express will be
I think from my understanding. Switch one games will be fine on a regular sd. So maybe hot swapping?
Its just switch 2 games that need express
Pretty sure they said sw2 will NOT be compatible with reg mSD
No. You can't physically use microSD cards in the Switch 2
they've got a different contact layout
Technically the standard is made to be backwards compatible, but I think nintendo said screw that
Yeah. Because the standard hasn't been finalised yet lol
This is legit NVMe SSD prices
It's suppose to be backwards compatible but Nintendo DGAF
Hmm, 256 or 512. The price is linear so, no real loss there
Wonder how big the games are gonna be
switch 1 games were anywhere from a gig to like.. almost 20 gigs?
Some were 30 GB or more
Yeah zelda was like 30gb’s i think
None of my 'backups' are that large
I assume 1.5x bigger than what they currently are since they're going from 720 to 1080?
I mean, more res doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be bigger, rendering bigger doesn't take up more space. Majority of filesize is textures and audio and such
I'll just buy a used MicroSD Express card at some point
Fair point.
Remember there is now 256gb compared to the 32gb originally, thats probs going to feel like loads of room 😅
Even with no card
I mean if the games are an average 10-20gb, that's still a dozen games
Yeah I'll be fine
And hopefully we can still get a decent amount of games physical carts? ehh?? I wonder how many games are going to be the digital code only.
I am not paying $90 for a game where possible
Also, maybe this is why the physical mariokart game is so expensive, they're using sd express under the hood?
80 dollars for Kirby lol
That game key concept is nefarious
I thought the carts were essentially glorified sd cards anyhow 🤷🏻♂️
That taste bad
😅
I only ate 2 or 3 of them
👀
😅
For science
It was the aftertaste that was worse
I just wish we had an idea of what game sizes wil lbe
Again or so I'm told
I mean if the console is backwards compatible it should be similar to Switch 1 carts
How does that figure, backwards compatible doesn't preclude new games from being bigger
Unless they're pulling a Nintendo DS and having 2 slots
Or a 3DS with a slightly altered cart
Carts were announced to be the same size
Nah, they'll use the same pins to communicate, but the sw2 carts will have faster speeds/more pins or whatever to enable sd express speeds.
Im colourblind. So the whole red carts thing doesnt really matter 😅 still going to mix them up
Not really
Flashback... I remember paying $50 for a 256 MEGABYTE SD Card for my first DSLR...
Woo! One positive is my game cart holders will still be good
I keep my carts in wallet and store cases away safely
Alright, ordered a 256 'just in case' not going to commit to more until I get a confirmed switch 2 order and/or better idea of game sizes.
Delivery date is already a ways out
cyberpunk is apparently coming in a 60gb cartridge.
honestly if i was buying now i'd just order the 1tb lexar.
Well I've already beaten that on PC so. meh
First party games prob won't be as big since they don't use a detailed texture heavy style
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe 256 is only enough for 3 games lol
Like CoD lmao
And if you need a bigger one I will buy said 256 GB off of you
In the past I never considered buying/selling microSD used, but at these prices, maybe
Not according to Nintendo 😅
Then again they are all switch 1 games in picture
again, depends what 3 games
I think those games thicknesses are actually proportionate to their size, huh
It's fine, game hoarding is a disease
I don't need 1tb
Maybe someone can come up with an SD Express to M.2 Adapter cable!
we can rig up 2280 drives to the back of our switches
lol
You see the vision
External ssd maybe 🤔
Wasn't the witcher 3 or something barely squeezed onto the 32gb cart?
Imagine paying a tariff on a cart and still having to dl 60gb
Man. Don't look at the replies to pricing on Twitter right now. People are so dumb on there
Ew Twitter
Glad to say I went cold turkey off twitter when the rat bought it
The switch would go up 50 dollars for every price complaint
I'm surprised nintendo isn't increasing the switch online price.
Or maybe not yet
I mean they saw these coming. Trump already announced them. Its why they're about $50 more expensive here then elsewhere
Probably raised digital game pricing to get back some profit lost on physical items
not yet. They will towards the end of the year when first year sales comes in higher than expected
Ah switch online. sorry. Misread that
So how switch 2 game key is going to be like this
No cartridges inside
Including marvel vs capcom fighting collection no cartridges
Damn physical is getting more lame
This is usa websites they would have cartridges that require downloads but in uk those ones doesn't have cartridges at all
80/90 for a download code?
What is this college textbooks?
I don't get it. How is it $90 for physical if there's nothing physical XD
Well they currently make those carts in Japan I believe.
Unfortunately it's game size devs doesn't want to everything in cartridges or nintendo know they will have to sacrifice in some countries not having physical cartridges
Yes you are correct
Playasia have physical cartridges
Expect call of juarez gunslinger and Youngblood they have no physical cartridges at all
It's same for xbox as well
Ninja gaiden 2 black sigma doesn't have xbox physical but ps5 have one
Hrm.. So it looks like Street Fighter 6 is key card and so is Bravely Default - Flying Fairy HD.
Yes
It's like download code
After that it's offline as long you want to be
The question is what if you want to sell the game now
It should be sellable. It seems like this new system just clearly marks the boxes on the front instead of appearing like a scam prior. Before they would try and hide it.
Still it's stupid that Square is continuing to do this, even though the people who would buy Bravely Default want physical.
We don't know but we can hope playasia can have physical cartridges
This is my question regarding the game sharing as well
Unfortunately, its got to have been expected due to how bad the Switch scene got. We knew they were gonna lock that shiz down
not much has changed. you can still sell the cartridge, the key moves with it.
Didnt they announce that new thing where you can share a game to a family member without the cartridge? Or is that only digital titles?
thats virtual gamecards for digital licences
Oh gotcha, I thought that included physical ones as well
Well that was a massive disappointment.
Information about which Nintendo Switch accessories are able to be used with the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
This is a nice site they put up
$90 for Joycons hurt thoughh
So someone can use the code your license can be gone correct
There is no keying of code, the cart is the code/key. It's not tied to any system/account. You can't play without the card.
Oh oh
Yeah its basically what Microsoft and Sony have been doing with some of their games
Can't imagine why they did it
Not 100%, Sony you can run the disc without any updates even on offline consoles
There are some titles that require downloads though
Yes, but not the norm
Only xbox you have to use internet not all of games
The cart is probably too expensive, especially for larger ones... So this download system is for them to cheap out on it...
No idea about bravely default though, can't imagine it using more than 16gb
This is no shock to me like I say in uk some switch 1 games doesn't have cartridges
This is the ones that have cartridges in us thst required to download
TBH the game prices kills the whole thing for me. I had been saving to get one, but now I can just use that money for something else
I'm still going in on it
And thats why this will keep happening 👍
especially for the games that'll get better performance just through a patch
PAID patch
not all games are gonna be like that
Indies can't afford a dodgy manuver like that
honestly I bet it's gonna be just the big ass Nintendo first party games that'll be paid patches
I will probably get one, just no idea when (won't be launching until q3 in Asia), and there is still the potential scalper situation.
I will probably only get first party stuff and 3rd party exclusives (for timed ones, those that I like enough to want to play first) on it similar to what I do for switch though
Need wait for the release/analysis, I don't believe there is no "boost mode"
I know the switch 2 is just gonna be another beast of a JRPG machine like the switch 1
oh and if the Atelier Ryza games get performance patches that'd be sick
The console price doesnt bother me. I just cant justify 80 bucks for first party games that will never go down in price.
I mainly used my switch for Indie games, and that’s part of what my Steam deck does now. I’d be lying if I said first party Nintendo stuff was particularly interesting to me these days. So not sure if I’m getting a 2 if I’m honest.
especially with no real physical copies
what day?
June 5th
None of the first party ones goes the empty cart method
three days after my birthday
I’m gonna camp out best buy to be the first
Gamestop for me
Going at 6am
but I know I'll get a shit load of pro points for the purchase
I’m probs gonna get the Mario bundle
I'm thinking of it
500 is double what I paid for my ps5 lol
Can always sell in person with digital cartridges
honestly at launch the game I'm the most excited for, is the new FAST game
Bro Nintendo did not fuck around with new shit/ third party shit lol. Incredibly good games shown for launch/near launch/soon
Man. I remember people lining up at Target at like 4AM just for themed 3DSes and Amibos
getting fuckin elden ring on switch
that shit wasn't on my bingo card in the slightest
My town is lame so 6am is early enough
It's such a banger option
I'd take the DS trilogy over ER
fair
No dark souls 3 is messed up ngl
but the ultimate pipe dream is Bloodborne on switch2
At this point people would take Bloodborne on a potato
Id play the shit out of that potato
if it got ported to PC or switch2 I'd preorder it
Is Metroid prime coming on release date?
I told you switch 2 will be making up lost time for thrid party games
Emulation on pc isn't quite there imo
I got a lot of graphic artifacts
I feel like the first batch of the Switch 2 is going to attract all the single people w/ disposable income but the games going up in price and the high cost of the Switch 2 is alienating to their main market of children/families.
No
the higher cost of games is seriously gonna effect the family sales
Who wants their child running outside with a $450 device that can easily be broken?
You don’t know how many families will still buy it
Many people spend 100s on Barbie’s and stuff
I've seen second graders with smart phones
See
Nintendo did 450 because they know it will still sell amazing at that price
A present is a present. And if they fuck it up just don't get them another or make em work for it lol
considering how much of an upgrade the switch 2 is over the 1, $450 is actually pretty alright
450 is not bad lol
The price and the games took this from a must buy to something I'm gonna hold off on for a minute
Hrm.. Hard to say really. The economy is really messed up from Covid. People got used to indulging in entertainment goods.
How many people drop 1k on a phone for the kid
Well in the US it's usually with a family plan.
You get the phone for nothing or super cheap for a 4x person contract.
Still dropping 40+ a month for cell data
It's all of the other stuff that adds up, like the pro controller is $80
You can get cheaper switch controllers
Sn30 pro still gonna be 30-40 bucks
I’m scared about the joycons price
did they say if the old switch1 controllers will work with Switch2?
They will.
Don't need everything at once playa
I wanna get 2 extra pair
In wireless mode.
Most parents would say you have joy cons lol
Sure, but a first party xbox controller is like $50, there's no reason for the cost to be that high
I'll buy the system bundle, buuut games are gonna be a wait for a while measure
I mean just use the original for that price
Also I think joycons might be 100 bucks
Information about which Nintendo Switch accessories are able to be used with the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
$90 which is still insane
Is that confirmed?
add a 1tb SDE card for another $200
Damn near 1k
Shit ill buy the legion go 2 atp
I’ll probs skip the sd cause I don’t play multiple games at a time
I sadly have a bad case of GamerADHD
Should've had 512gb base honestly
We all knew it’d be 256
Who's we
Although I’m not sure the games are gonna be 8 times bigger
I was just praying for more than 64gb
The third party games are going to be big big
Cyberpunk
Ya. I'd expect that 256gb to be filled quickly, even with Nintendo's compression.
They will get it down
doubt
Not as quickly as the og 32gb is what I’m saying
Wonder what the silksong sub is like lol
though they did get Witcher3 down to below 32gb so it fit on the switch cart with no download required
Yea, which could be Cyberpunk or they say FU and it's a download key.
Lmaooo
yeah that's about right
No one buying cyberpunk for the switch
Switch 2 lite though
Cyberpunk in your pocket
"hd rumble 2", wonder if it will be at least dualsense haptics standard or maybe even better
Gpd win mini
Sure let me pull out 1k
They go for like 650 and by the time a switch 2 lite is out it will probably be the same price
Used maybe, also probably worse battery life
Not if your running 720 upscale
You can get 2 ish hours
I guess thats true, though x86 handhelds don't feel as conducive to a pocketable pick up and playstyle imo
Still little to no point unless your a kid whose parents shop at target and GameStop
Uh sure
Definitely no other use cases
Some takeaway thoughts about the Physical VS Digital price difference and regional prices from my video that I wanted to share.
💬 77 🔁 196 ❤️ 2.2K 👁️ 162.9K
What I do find funny is retro handheld enthusiast scoffing at the switch 2 price while owning like 7 h700s and 5 rk3566
Switch 2 or retroid flip 2
I will admit that 449 is a little on the high side. But considering the state of tariffs and all that crap, I think they bumped it $50 late in the launch process
probably yeah
they are trying to avoid the ps5 scenario where they had to raise the price
and that looked awful for sony
I also don’t mind the price of the games if they are complete games without DLC that felt like it was ripped away from the core game.
I expect everything in MKW to be unlockable for a year or so before maps are DLC
Honestly. Nintendo does a good job of releasing complete experiences. Usually the DLC is the fun afterthought it's supposed to be
Both. If you have money to buy one, you have money to buy the other
According to CNBC correspondent Eamon Javers, Press Secretary Leavitt has confirmed that the 34% China tariff is on top of the previous 20% tariff, meaning it will be a 54% rate on China once implimented.
i mean price makes more and more sense. Need to get my company to send me to Japan, haha
54% tariff on China is unsustainable. Too many products we use are made there. There will be heavy pushback as it affects everyday products more than fancy wine or cars.
Oh good god, you guys made a gif.
Oh god damnit.
Ok yeah, the prices are starting to make more and more sense…
Will the game carts be region free like the Switch 1? Play in whichever language your system is set to? I don't wanna have to import games to play them in English..
I imagine so
Doesn't justify the 80-90 dollar games
For that language locked Japanese one to be unique in a way that makes it cost less money than the non-locked Japanese one, it would have to be region free by default
Maybe I should just buy the cheaper Japanese one and suffer until I can read more Kanji... Sigh
Hopefully those are the exception, I know the dk game is $70 (which still isn't great imo) so I would guess Mario Kart is priced the way it is to get people to buy the bundle
Yup, the Japan-only one is a special case in that it won’t support non-Japanese languages.
That’s what I’m hoping for, even if it’s not likely.
Isn't this game dependent even on the switch 1?
I mean the play in whatever language your system is in.
It is, but 98% of games support more than 1 language
Just wondering if that still be the same going forward
I live in Japan and games are pretty cheap here, be nice if I can play them in English since I'm still years away from fluency
I kind of remember seeing quite alot games being strictly in Japanese, Korean, Chinese when browsing the respective Asia eShops, though I didn't really buy them to test
I guess I only ever play first party stuff anyways, the rest I buy on the steam for achievement hunting
I'm going to be a Contrarian, I don't want smash, mario, zelda or pokemon
I want Ring Fit 2 🗣️🔥
bruh can they really not make switch 1 games playable on regular micro sd?
? It says switch 2
I mean it is bad that they are not allowing regular micro sd at all even for switch 1 games
like it seems to be readable on switch 2, just for screenshots and videos
Express sd cards are way way way faster
7-8x faster
You make hardware that supports both and a user has an issue with conventional sd card, this is how you eliminate that issue all together
It is pricy for sure but I think I saw that their Nintendo branded one was actually cheaper
Than your typical express card
yeah i know. i predicted it when others were doubting them using express. but switch 1 games should not need that. ps5 could run ps4 games on external hdd.
Just detecting and preventing switch 2 games from being installed on a normal microsd would be fine, and help free up internal storage for switch 2 stuff.
Maybe they will add it later 🤷♂️
unless the compatibility layer they use this time really needs that extra speed
The most reasonable answer I can see is that they will be having very big performance increases on their last gen titles and they just don't want to deal with support for older sd cards
SD Express is a really weird technology because it technically can work as a regular sd card, but because it’s outright wired differently it’s at best the slowest speeds that you can read it if you’re using CFexpress-based readers/cards (the standard for regular sd cards besides express).
In return, it’s significantly faster when you’re using an SD express card in an SD express reader, like genuinely up to around 8x the regular sd card speeds.
From Lexar's official AliExpress store:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EuMQNis
£158.79 for the 1TB, annoyingly 21p below the £159 threshold to use the £20 coupon.
You can add this card reader from the same store for 98p:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EQOPRna
And then the £20 off coupon works
There's also a store coupon for £1.58
In total I paid £138.19, which I think it as cheap as these cards are gonna get for a while
so for me, a US resident, the 1 tb card shows up at $196.28
Why does the Switch 2 need SD Express but I can play my Steam games on a regular SD card in my Steam Deck?
my guess is with such low HDD , they need to load the massive huge games straight to memory and basic SD isnt fast enough for that
and going straight to new format ... is choice not to confuse the casual buyers cause requiring something like A2 (on regular) would confuse lot of casual buyers
So i dont have to wait 1hr for everyone to load in mariokart online

remember the import duty (30% or $25 who knows) if it doesn't get in by may 5.
for usa i mean
Ok the piranha plant camera looks way cooler. I wonder if this means it will work with any usb c camera
Is it just a basic webcam or has any advance depth sensing stuff?
To make up for the removing of the IR sensors in the new joycon.
my understanding was that express cards will just act like UHS-I cards if used on UHS-I/UHS-II reader (and UHS-I cards should work normally on a reader that supports express). is it somehow worse than that? I mean the switch 1 used UHS-I so I thought maybe letting UHS-I cards at least be used for switch 1 games could have been a good idea (if it is technically possible)
Yes, microsd express will just default to ~100mb/s in the typical device/reader (that is not junk).
yeah and it won't even get UHS-II speed on UHS-II readers coz it is only backwards compatible with UHS-I
yeah this makes sense. UHS-II and UHS-III use the extra pins differently compared to Express (which uses them for pcie lanes). so technically the card slot on the switch 2 should read UHS-I cards at the same speed as switch 1, right?
I was just thinking if they are not even allowing regular cards for switch 1 games on switch 2. it could have something to do with the compatibility layer needing extra speed compared to running it natively on switch 1
coz even ps5 allowed usb external HDD for ps4 games
I do kinda agree it would cause some confusion. but even as it is right now there are gonna be more casual customers not understanding the difference between cards
I don't think so, I doubt the original switch 1 games even need more than 50 or 60 Mbps (there was some article showing the game cart is actually slower than most microsd ).
Even if patched games need higher speed (which I again doubt so), they can always allow it for un-patched games.
Its something that can be added later anyway if they want to, there should not be any technical limitation.
so you think it is more of a "we have not fully tested yet so we can't promise"?
Yep, or maybe just lazy ....
Just like how PS4 cannot even use external drives initially, took them almost 4 years to add the support.
😂 ok makes sense. I got a 256gb UHS-I A2 card a few weeks ago because I thought they could at least make switch 1 games run on it. kinda disappointed
was thinking of using it until express cards get cheaper
guess I'll just save the card for Anbernic, Odin, or something
and I definitely won't be downloading my whole switch library on switch 2
Yoo where is this from
Thought it said any camera but it’s says any compatible
60$ for the camera hmmm
I find crazy that botw is still full retail price and now come out again for switch 2 for even more… for an 8 year old game
Twitter. Leak from german site
That really look sexy
oh so the top usb-c should be at least be usb 3.0 right?
since that is where the camera connects to
No one talked about battery life ??
I salute everyone being a labrat for this pricey console, using a newgen memory card that hasn't been standardised
We did
I pray for y'all it won't end up being like XQD cards.
It's 2 hours to 6.5 hours of battery life
same battery as Switch 1?
Honestly 2 hours for Elden ring is fine
I think it’s 1000mAh bigger
funny Nintendo didnt mention that
Bit worse but it's power
And the battery is 19.3whr as well
I saw something about 2 hours to upwards of like 6+ hours depending on how hard you're pushing the hardware
Yes phawx said it
It's bit worse than og switch 1 battery
How come
Switch 2 needing more power doesn’t make its battery worse, no?
of course every details is on their website. But battery life is important, if they didnt mention it its because its a switch2 flaw
I mean battery life
I mean it's 1080p 120hz vrr on arm device and it's 19.3whr
Bigger battery would have made it too heavy to hold, it’s more of a compromise than a flaw
It was 4,5 to 9hours for the switch 1
It’s probably better if you don’t activate 120hz or hdr.
Nah switch 1 was underclocked so they didn't need that power or ram to push the device
Maybe really demanding games like Elden ring will still require the max tdp
Or watts
But switch 2 power push the watts and ram so nintendo had to sacrifice something to balance it out
I think we still need more info on handheld mode. They might use like Dlss upscaled 540p video to make their 1080p image instead of it being native
That's for the Mariko revision, the launch one was more in line with the switch 2
Handheld mode I think some games like wild hearts and star wars outlaws would be 720p 40fps or 50fps
Best way to compare switch 2 is xbox series s
that might happen
They can put quality mode or performance mode
3 hours to fully charge too
Yh I need more information about that because 3 hours to fully charge doesn't sounds right to me
Oh some games not all of them would have game key card to download the game
It's common in ps5 xbox series x and even switch 1 games
It's been a thing for a while
This is better than having no cartridges at all
That's was my complaint of switch 1 games especially third party games
They would have download code In uk
well u pay full price, but if you want to play that game in 2035+ , I dont think I will be able to play because the download link will be dead 😦
Instead of getting a downloadcode you get this, way better solution then empty cartridge boxes
Most games will keep the physical cartridges where the media is loaded onto the chip though
This is like how gamecube situation but this is better solution than sacrifice or take the some content out
Nah this is different it would be like your physical cartridges but those ones require internet first then after that you can play it offline as long you want
Exactly this
so 80/90bucks for an authentication key, not even a game. it sucks.
The game itself isn't included on the game-key card, so you’ll have to download it before you can play.
When you insert the game-key card, further instructions will be displayed on the HOME Menu. Please follow the instructions to download the game.
Please note: to download the game, you must have enough free space in your Nintendo Switch 2 system memory or microSD Express card. The amount of free space required is indicated on the game-key card packaging.
An internet connection is only required when you launch the game for the first time. After this, the game can be started even without an internet connection. However, like regular physical software, the game-key card must be inserted into the system in order to play the game.
hopefully its for few games, like BIG Gig games
I still think this is all to stop emulation. Unless an emulator will have a way of authorising they key before launch somehow
yea remember any switch1 game that only came in cartridge boxes with game codes? Those are going to be game-key cards..
Its not a issue tbh
the only issue for me is the pricing of games in general 80€/90€ for physcial is alot, but still better then tons of shitty micro transactions and paid dlcs
you still gonna get paid dlc and micro transactions lol
It sucks because for full price you download the game on ur S2 storage, but u need the Keycard to be able to play. if u forgot ur keycard, u screwed
i dont think we get micro transactions in mario kart or donkey kong
Yh it's would be some games
Yh
then just buy it digitally
This is better than having no cartridges or game key code just for download code
exactly, so why they dont make them Digitally only
oh i forgot we are cashcow
Unfortunately devs doesn't want that backlash and nintendo also don't want to do that last time people was complaining about having download code
Some countries doesn't have no cartridges at all
maybe they will release some cloud games or so where there is no need to bring data on the cartridge itself
i get your point but this is a issue for like 1-3% of games
We don't want to do that
Pls no more cloud games
yea its only for games no one would play on a switch anyway lmao
But having game key card is better so devs doesn't need to sacrifice any contents of the game at least nintendo label it so people don't get confused about it
I don't think people have actually been using Switch 1 cartridges?
It sucks because for full price you download the game on ur S2 storage, but u need the Keycard to be able to play. if u forgot ur keycard, u screwed
This is a commonplace issue with Switch 1 games.
Switch 1 Cartridges already don't prevent the game from using a lot of storage.
Plus this would be some case for big aaa games
yes its probably only those ones
So devs doesn't have to spend too much they can do that than wasting money and resources so I expect like cod, assassin creed shadows etc
yea like hogwarts legacy or so, but i prefer playing it any other console then the switch
might run decent on S2 though
cod on switch would be crazy lmao
Hogwarts legacy would be 1080p 30fps or 720p 60fps with dlss
I wouldn't be surprised at all
People shouldn't be shocked it's not going to be like xbox one drm situation
It is going to be like ps5 or xbox series x/s situation
More like ps5
before make a decision I need a good game catalogue, so Ill wait to 2026. in the meantime I will be watching reviews on YT.
after watched Nintendo live yesterday, only Donkey Kong looks interesting for me.
That was fast
I'm curious how evenly the supply was distributed. 🤔
FUCK
But I swear it's April 8th
just pre orderd mine
Pass, games are getting more expensive and wages haven't really gone up since they were $50 (and Nintendo being run by fossils will never put their games on sale the way Steam does).
You think nintendo is going to do that
Maybe in the future
Only one i trust is amazon to guarantee delivery on time. So waiting on their preorders. I have had it before with argos etc where i preordered. They then found out they didnt have enough allocation and cancelled a load of orders
I think that's the date for the Nintendo Official Store itself. Prob supposed to be the date for other retailers too. Seems like EU and UK don't care as far as I can tell. Don't think I've seen any US preorders mentioned anywhere yet.
That's true
I haven't seen any preorders for the Pro Controller yet or anything else, apart from third party accessories
They won't as long as they think they don't have to.
Unless they fuck switch 2 up I highly doubt it
Oh can order it from Argos
I can't believe people don't think switch 2 performance would be like xbox series s
Or outperform steam deck
We’ll see once we get actual cyberpunk performance tests
Also bearing in mind the steam deck is 3 years old at this point
True
Looks like the bundle's back in stock (with the standalone console now being out of stock??)
i have a feeling that everyone is buying the bundle anyway
I would bought the base model if the physical copy is not expensive 😭😭😭😖
buy console wait for game price drops kekw
yea same
bundle price is too good
I've ordered the bundle to actually play, but I'm getting a base one too to leave on a low firmware for any potential homebrew shenanigans
makes sense
I'm gonna guess this "customer" was Nintendo
People have been theorizing it was Nintendo ever since Samsung's announcement a year ago.
Yh because of leaks and stuff
And DF mostly
this is peak
shouldve just used m2 storage
hope these cards won't be hot enough to burn my switch 2
anything that's both small and fast is bound to have heat issues
pretty sure there will be a way for that too , at some point
According to df, most games don't seem to have any anti aliasing, let alone dlss

Oh yh they have nintendo switch 2 event experience
OH
While an older game, they managed to play Yakuza 0 at 4k 60 docked
should be 60 handheld then too
Well handheld doesn't do 4K. Cause it's not 4K. It'll like do 120Hz for yakuza
Maybe
OH WOW
Depends how much of the dock is just scaling. And how much of the extra draw and fan provide raw power
Apparently for Cyberpunk
The build they showed was only representative of 7 weeks worth of work
7 weeks
Rah
I'm not shocked of that
What's it like playing games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Kirby and the Forgotten Land at 60fps? We've got our hands-on answers for you right here!

GVG is on the roll
I think it's reason the dock has a fan
They could push the Watts bit higher
but are there ventilation holes at the back of the switch where the dock 's fan is located? else probably won't make much of a difference for cooling if you are just blowing on or away from plastic
Probably
So good news
Not all switch games will be paid upgrades
Some will come as free updates
Examples given in the video were Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and Arms
probably those that are just resolution change without any other changes/new stuff i guess
It would be expected
hopefully there is a "boost mode" as well for those games that cant even lock at 720p30 on the switch especially in handheld mode
Performance/Resolution changes
However good question what about witcher 3 batman arkham Knight etc
they should at least add some new textures for those that charge money... more useful than those 3d audio, mouse mode or whatever
I'm really hoping backwards compatibility will help even non-upgraded switch 1 games reach their target framerates, gosh I just really want a smoother Brothership experience lol
Y'all should really just use up the switch 2 internal storage and buy SD cards way later lol
SD cards go down in price quite a bit over time
Don't buy now at its most expensive lol
they even said there will be a 40fps performance mode. sounds interesting
Yes but quality mode would be 25/30fps
It would like be 1080p
Or 720p in best
I just hope 40fps will be more common on switch 2. for me it is the sweet spot for non-action games
should work well on the built-in 120hz VRR display but since some TVs and monitors can't do that I just hope game devs won't be too lazy to support a 40hz mode
40fps would be sweet spot but I'm worried wild hurts and star wars outlaws would not be able to hit 40fps but 30fps
Also If it's true alan wake 2 could be the same as well
these games are on other platforms anyways. if I need performance I can still get them on my pc. regional pricing also kinda sucks on Switch compared to Steam as well
switch 2 right now I would not consider to be a budget handheld at all
Yh true I got xbox series s so it's not too problem
It's not budget handheld like steam deck but it's more like og rog ally and legion go when it comes to uk
if money is an issue (like if they have a pc that's even weaker than a switch 2), I don't think they should get a switch 2 at all. coz a PC can do way more
Nintendo trying their best to help you avoid choice overload
However tho Nintendo has advantages when it's available and people would access it
Don't install too many games
The problem is rog ally steam deck and legion go could expensive in other countries
So switch 2 would be best bet for them
yeah if they really only want a handheld I guess that's true
I just think budget-minded people should just spend the money somewhere else. maybe a desktop pc or a laptop
Or xbox series s
Got 220
true
right now I just don't see switch 2 being something that most potential customers would consider
To be honest tho people are still going to buy it since it's ps4 handheld level that people been waiting for it and it's nintendo
Nintendo can sell shit in a bag and it'll sell
Exactly
I mean...I already preordered because I can afford it. but I can't imagine it would be the same for most of the potential buyers, especially if budget is a concern. I'm not saying it will sell poorly but definitely not as strong as the switch 1 if price stays the same
It would be like 3ds situation unfortunately
How dare you order something everyone online is riling against 😄
Not true
Wii u
N64, virtual boy
Many poor sellers
And gamecube
Yeah lol
More recent history, but ok 😄
Nintendo has the benefit of the most stockholm syndrome infused fans out there xD it'd have to be a colossal flop to get them to budge on this one. we'll see
But this is handheld so it would be like 3ds situation
It would sell well but not as ds
I personally think the price of the console itself is just fine tho. everything else not so much
Lucky if they got backlog of switch 1 games they can buy the base but I know everyone would buy bundle
Did the alarm clock thing sell well?
wait
since the gpu of the switch 2 has 2 raytracing cores
does that mean it can run Minecraft bedrock ray tracing
Probably not. But I'm buying one for my kid anyway 😆
in theory, but I doubt we'll see many raytraced games on switch 2
I consider myself a Nintendo fan and I supported the Wii U through its entire life span but I haven't bought a single Amiibo and I didn't buy the clock.
My only issue with Switch 2 is game price. Everything else in life is already expensive so I can justify them putting a higher price tag but also I can't justify them putting a higher price tag.
well many ppl also bought a ps5 pro, which was also hated by the internet. Every company has its hardcore fans
That's my biggest issue tbh, it's one thing to make the console more expensive, I mean it has been like 8 years, but it seems like everything else is dramatically more expensive as well, like the games, the storage and the accessories
Makes sense. I mean it sucks. Some of it just out of their hands
just like food and other things unfortunately
the console itself isnt too expensive so ima buy it. i still have to complete alot of switch1 games so i can just wait for the switch2 game prices to settle down a bit
We are getting milked! 🐮
People complain about digital cost increase. But guaranteed they calculated it out to offset the cost of console
I am glad that there seems to be a fair amount of free upgrades for switch 1 games at least
It's not a vacuum for each piece. Something people fail to understand sometimes (not here, we're all geniuses)
Yeah. 100%
I think it's a sacrifice they're willing to make to boost adoption. Even things like free upgrades if your an online+ subscriber
Seems fair, it's really a switch 2 game, not like it ran on the original.
Yeah. Sorry. That's probably our fault too XD
Yeah, imo they should give people who already own the game a discount, that's what Sony did
yea you can upgrade it, i dunno for how much though
If you own enough online subscription is probably the better deal
This would be like reversed ps3 situation the games is expensive but console price is okay
Lucky in uk prices it's fine
seems like all of the games that are getting the paid upgrades are also getting physical releases?
I'm sure they spread it across everything
seems in line with us price at least (base price + 20% vat)
I doubt it
Maybe few
I meant like so far the ones that were announced
I read somewhere there aren't even physical releases, you're just buying a key
Dunno if Kirby will get a rerelease? Maybe? I might have missed it
wrong. thats just some games (so far only bravely default)
Are you sure I thought they would release the physical of switch 2 edition
Guess they leave it up to the third party
Yes
Makes sense for some to not pay the extra cost and just basically go digital only
But throws a bone to retailers
Not even slightly sure, could be rage bait or people misunderstanding but here's the image with it
Oh that's game key card
So like street fighter 6 and bravely heart would not get physical cartridges but a game key card
That's a replacement for code in a box releases or publishers just not wanting to release physical at all
That's a relief, hopefully it makes emulation easier
I mean, encourages people to buy from Nintendo
I am curious if the sw2 upgrades will be on the carts themselves or if they'll just be switch 1 version carts with the ability to download the upgrades
how would that in any way affect emulation
I just hope they used an entirely different colour for the game key cartridge
It's both
pink
It's would be like metroid prime 4
and also make sure game-key games are priced same as the digital rather than $10 more
same colour i think but specifies that its just a key on box front and maybe cart too
well you can resell them after all
Lucky street fighter 6 is not too expensive same with bravely heart
Cyberpunk word on the streets could be £70
Or 60
this has been fun
Can resell them in person at least
I mean you also have risk of losing the cartridge
so overall I would say it should be same value as digital games
Digital cartridges are dope. Not gonna lie. I mostly appreciate it as a multiple switch household but if I want to sell a game to a friend, or let them borrow it, I have that option
Yes but the problem is if you want to keep it we don't know if it will still playable when servers got off on switch 2 maybe in 10 years time when it comes to game key card
Tbf that's when we can basically homebrew
Haha. Big tru
True hopefully we can hack it at least this one would be most powerful handheld and emulation as well
homebrew for no longer supported console should be a no brainer
well some GC games have native 16:9 support
But yh people was worrying if they would be 4:3 only
I dunno. This seems like a banger option. Especially considering the backwards compatibility and 50% increase on all direct from China handhelds
If I can squeeze my backlog until sales happen on newer games I think I can make it work. Lol
Or until homebrew
It's like base should be obvious choice but bundle is so tempting
Yeah. I went base. I know I'm not buying games for a bit. Heh
Maybe will even replay some oldies
I also have switch online+ so that helps
Just the usual marketing talk , especially since it's from Nvidia (so don't trust any figures)
The Nintendo Switch 2, unveiled April 2, takes performance to the next level, powered by a custom NVIDIA processor featuring an NVIDIA GPU with dedicated RT Cores and Tensor Cores for stunning visuals and AI-driven enhancements. With 1,000 engineer-years of effort across every element — from system and chip design to a custom GPU, APIs Read A...
at the very least I can enjoy old games on a bigger handheld screen
hopefully the ergonomics won't be too bad
i did not get the switch oled so I will definitely appreciate the upgrades
I didn't even get switch at all
10X seems a bit excessive
Nintendo’s first post-Switch 2 Nintendo Direct Treehouse livestream is being flooded with angry comments from users calling on the company to “DROP THE PRICE.” https://t.co/KlBBibNI1Y
little do they know
The one guy saying RAISE THE PRICE lmao
three guys actually lol
Easiest way to raise the price is to buy all the accessories. 😂
Or buy a second one that you never turn on until homebrew is found
lol i think people overreact
$170 for an extra set of Joycons and a pro controller.
do old pro controllers work??
cool beans
they did not even say they are for switch 1 games only or anything so it should be good
I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but this is pretty rad. I don't recall this for Switch 1...
I have no reason to move to the pro 2
Full carrying case for everything + dock
the switch pro contollers are great
I'm happy with my 8bitdo pro 2 as well
Yeah I could have used that for family days. Lugging 8 controllers + dock and switch was a lot
I'd rather get another 8bitdo pro 2 than to get the switch pro 2
8 bitdo will release a C button version soon enough
well I'm hoping 8bitdo will update the firmware so that the chat button can be mapped to one of the existing buttons
Switch 2 clips from Nintendo Treehouse

Volume of cards will be more likely to skyrocket since something will actually want them in volume
Same thing happened with the 2230 M.2 drives
give a year or two and coast of of physical and a 256gb card and you'll grab a 2tb for around 120
That is assuming that the economy and manufacturing go the same way as they did though.
I miss the Wii U support for USB external hard drive.
ngl the dk game looks really good
DK game looks awesome.
Mostly due to it looking like an actual modern game without stuttering.
that nvidia 10X more powerful thing is a bit of an exaggeration, but I do believe 4X as powerful
definitely from the odyssey team, its got a lot of odyssey dna
yeah its definitely a leap forward
Odyssey team with a bit of the magic of DKC
They know the roots well enough
DKC was THE game when I was a kid. Mario World was awesome but DKC was our game.
couldn't stand mario crying
or...my dad couldn't stand mario crying
didn't rent that one again
There were cases like this for Switch 1
If I'm not mistaken Nintendo made one
Nothing that well thought out
True
That's the case I'm not getting as my Switch 2 is going to mostly be played in handheld mode
I get the feeling that I'll be using my S2 in handheld mode a lot more as it's going to just look better than my crusty 1080p TV that I have in my room lol
at least until I upgrade to something like an LG 4k oled or something
Where did you find this?
I have a 55" 4k TV in my room, I'm just on the go quite often
So handheld mode it is
Also the 2 games I'm getting are MarioKart World and Yakuza 0
I'm getting the MKW bundle
Same
I'll get DK bananza when that comes out, and I might get bravely default HD
It's only $50 more than the base console, and I was planning on buying MKWorld anyways
do we know how much these upgrade patches will cost for switch 1 games?
because I'm debating whether or not I should get a used copy of BOTW and buy that instead of getting the switch 2 edition
I don't have the expansion pack tier
I'm gonna grab that when I get the console
okay it'd be cheaper for me to get a used copy of BOTW and then buy the upgrade patch
I'm gonna do that
I only own BOTW on the Wii U lol
They finally got the the Wii U pad functionality in the Zelda Notes app.
DK looks amazing I'm so excited for it I need it NOW
I doubt it
yeah probably not lol. but it would be nice
Did the update the info? Because as of yesterday they were pulling a Sony and charging for higher fps
this is the list of games that'll get free updates
there's a few curious omissions from this list, like smash bros
Hori had one
I had that one. Very bulky
Yeah. But nice if you can fit it in your suitcase 😆
Yeah
I know that the zelda upgrades are included
only for some games like the two zelda games
well why didn't they mention that
Yeah. I have it so I'll be comfy with base for a bit
Yeah. And Kirby. So first parties most likely
It's on their website
But 3rd parties are up in the air. Probably up to 3rd parties
I get the feeling most 3rd parties will offer their upgrades for free
I can't see CD project red for instance charging for a next gen upgrade of Witcher 3
I mean if it's as simple as removing an fps lock they should
They will most part
And increase the resolution
Yeah. Like doing that should be low lift
a lot of these games use dynamic resolution scaling, so they'd likely just get upgraded just by virtue of being on switch 2
Same for no man's sky
definitely case by case. some publishers are more consumer-friendly than others
And batman arkham Knight
DLSS implementation is from what I understand pretty drag and drop
Yeah. Or didn't lock anything and let hardware decide
They might also already have it and they just commented out the line. Heh
True!
nah, DLSS is too new a technology for this to be the case
EA gonna sell that uncommenting tho. Lol
Well we got two months left
I could see a few scummy companies doing this, like square enix
Eh. A lot of these titles are just PC ports tho where some have already or are already implementing it.
I guess it just depends on how new it is, but I do also believe there's a few files that need to be included for DLSS to work which would be a waste of space on the original switch
it really depends on how they handle the multi-platform development
Yes
This
Arm developement
Why is the Switch 2 so expensive in Switzerland...
Almost USD 550 if you convert it
Yeah. Some will just require a pushed update
it's not much better for my country
I'm assuming the specs for NS2 have been out for a while. We'll get updates on upgrades every month like Xbox used to do with BC
Usually, Switzerland doesn't get fucked over so hard with conversions
The only country switch 2 is a good price in is Japan
We are lucky enough to under 400
And UK
though if you take away VAT from the price of the switch 2 in the UK, it's actually cheaper than the US price
But you can't take away VAT
So if the tariffs never happened, we might of been getting a $330-350 usd Switch 2..
not necessarily
