#Switch 2

Yh I'm not getting that
They have lost their mind
With as stacked of a launch line up as this, fuck yeah they are
They condensed a years worth of titles into their launch lineup
I don't even know nintendo got aura like that I even signed a lifetime deal with nintendo including new account 😭🤣🤣🤣
I mean it's cool for extreme wheelchair basketball league but it is just not accessibile
After that direct i say yeah nintendo got me to sign up with them
My wallet and soul are ready to be sacrificed to them at this point
New MarioKart at launch
Elden Ring, Cyperpunk, BORDERLANDS 4
That's how much nintendo surprised me
I like how Mario kart is priced to get everyone to buy the bundle
That's what I'm buying
Gamecube was expected but bro new James Bond as well
You know how long we got brand new game from 007 series
YAKUZA 0
The only one I remember is the one on N64
I remember xbox 360 James Bond Blood store underrated game btw
15 years ago yk
They really 💩 the bed by not putting smash bros Melee on the GC day one with a freash coat of paint. With all the mods out there they could have been like we see what you have done & we hear you. Here is the Melee you've been dreaming of
I'm more surprised I didn't see Mario kart double dash
Enter the gungeon 2 plz
I'm not with a kart world they are wanting to push that hard. There is no Smash game in the works and This
Sakurai is working on that & not smash so
As confirmed on by Nintendo, the base Nintendo Switch 2 will be priced at £395.99 in the UK when it launches on June 5, 2025. A Switch 2 bundle with a digital copy of Mario Kart World will cost £429.99.
Bundle is seeing me
If not 395 is okay
I think you kind of have to if the games going to be 80$
I would get the bundle anyway as a new mario kart is one of the system sellers for me, but that pricing is an added bonus
Yh unfortunately
US$449.99 for the console, US$499.99 for the bundle
No comment
Especially if I get 395 one I'm paying 74.99 for mk world which it's vio
Yeah I'm also getting the bundle
I was gonna spend the money on MK World so might as well pony up the extra money for the bundle
Bundle + Metroid
Not sure what else would grab me just yet, stuff i'd consider like sf6/bl4/cyberpunk would all be better (or already owned) on pc anyway
I’ll get sf6 if my switch 8bitdo m30 works on switch 2 with a usba to usbc dongle 🥲
Cyberpunk I need to see the performance wise but sf6 deffo on pc
$90 though yikes
For what cyberpunk
For physical games
sf6 on the go would be nice and I did nab the pc version very cheap too
Digital games are $80
Im def getting the bundle
And probably spend a bit on upgrading ToTK and BotW
and SF6
Donkey Kong is 70$
Oh yh I will see what games I would get on switch 2 or pc version
Did I see some mention of the switch 2 editions being included in the ninty online expansion pack?
No
I hope there's a nice little exploit for Switch 2
Not when they can charge you another 10-20$
You know, for homebrew reasons
The biggest failure for me is multiplat games seem to run better on steam deck than switch 2. really expected nvidia soc to do better
looking at how elden ring looked and ran on stream
Definitely need/want to see performance of the multi plat ones
Depends on the res
i was kinda expecting to see RTGI in some games too, considering the nvidia soc
it looked blurrier than 800p on deck
Did not seem that way to me, but maybe less fidelity due to the nature of it being a port
fromsoftware? lol
?
shouldn't overlook livestream making it look worse too
Yeah
judging by my current playtime, my real fear is I buy this and the only thing I play besides mk world would be balatro
Yep, certain ones will be free if you have NSO + Expansion
Didn’t they also flat out also only mention the first party games getting those upgrades?
I have bought it 3 times on pc, mobile and switch. I might have a problem.
Balatro is good
That i don't know
Hopefully some will do a res increase as a free update to refresh sales
By that, I should specify I worded it wrong, I was trying to say “didn’t they show all the first party switch games that were publicly announced to be getting the S2 upgrades” as those games getting the upgrade for free?
Oh, yeah
So far those are the only ones
Which are Prime 4, ToTK, BotW, Forgotten Lands, and ZA
ZA is a new game I thought
It is
Then yeah, unless they state otherwise for specific games, it’s safe to assume that other first party Nintendo games will be joining in on that list of “free upgrades for members” as soon as they make official announcements for them.
But it has a Switch 2 version
Because as-is, it currently looks like they’re only promising the upgrades for games they also publicly announced upgrades for.
I think Nintendo will pick and choose which ones will be NSO and which ones won3
all switch 2 editions being included in the expansion pack would be a bargain, I wonder if they might rotate them through instead
I... can and can't see that
I’ll buy it just for this… Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer
One thing I do hope, they get their arse in gear when it comes to releasing gc games on there
I’m guessing if it’s not all the upgrades, it will likely be just the ones for games that also use NSO, since the reason Zelda joins that list now is because of that new phone function.
they wont
If they took it seriously, nintendo online could be a great mainstream option for retro
Hence giving people who aren’t interested in N64 or GC a reason to get expansion pass, as it will be giving them NSO for that game and giving them the switch 2 upgrade of that game for free.
Tbh
NSO + Expansion feels more like a deal as it, but GCN + switch 2 upgrades give that more value for 50 bucks
Vs what Sony is offering comparably for over 100+
You realize our frame of reference for NSO emulation is based on the Switch 1, and that we currently don’t even know what Switch 2 will legit be like just yet?
It's cheap enough that my thought was it's cheap enough, so why not
Basically
they drip feed titles hard during the entire switch 1 generation
youre crazy if you dont think theyll do the same for gamecube
Also are the games pricing confirmed
yes
Oh, I’m not assuming they’ll put in a ton of titles at once, I’m just talking about the actual performance of those games, since the titles they showed already had at least 5 games from my Top 10.
They might frontload the gc releases a bit more, didn't they have a bunch to start it off before they moved to dripfeed scheduling?
3rd party stuff will still depends on licensing agreement
SNES and NES both currently have around 80 and 70 respectively.
Wait seriously?
Physical version of MKW is $90 and presumably some other games will follow suit, although not all as seen by the Donkey Kong one being less
That is insane
Switch 2 Not Aimed At People Who Want "High-Performance Hardware," Nintendo Says https://t.co/arbG6XbHEG
Wow after a quick search. Nintendos price for 256gb express card is pretty cheap
Relative to other consoles sure but for handheld performance it seems to be pretty impressive at least from speculation
makes gta6 being $100 more believable now lol
we still have yet to sea the real specs
i cant even find a confirmation if the triggers are analog or digital
$150-$175 with day 1 DLC
congratulating myself for not being particularly interested in rockstar games
Waiting for digital foundry analysis/teardown.
No mention of any Nvidia related tech (or some variant of them) such as DLSS and raytracing as well. Hopefully the former is there for docked mode at least.
I didn't expect it to be lmap
The battery life is somewhat disappointing actually
gta6 pricing isnt confirmed yet though right?
Hoping that they're just lowballing it
correct
No but experts are saying if people are willing to pay $80 for MKW They'll pay $100-$175 for GTA6
ultimate edition will be 1k lol
Nintendo just set the standard for the next gen of game prices with MKW
Yeah they can keep that shit if it's anything above 100
in this US economy i agree
I wonder if it has something to do with the new storage media hardware they’re using for Switch 2 cartridges.
Has to be
The more I learn the less hyped I am
oh yeah that's right, skong
Ya this fucking sucks
I'm buying a steam deck
I think I'm gonna wait for the switch 2 lite
It would certainly at least make more sense for a price increase than companies trying to milk $70 out of people for games that are only available on optical media for physical.
Now if only the games were already only $60 for digital, then it would at least be more justifiable than Nintendo actively charging the same $70 on top of the additional $10 for physical.
This isn't adding enough to make it more appealing than my legion go tbh
How
As bringus would say, "optical media bad!!!"
I still haven't beaten nightmare king Grimm 😞
Why
go play it you madman
what are you even doing here
Too busy never missing and stripping my prisoners of their arms, legs, head, and their sanity, while keeping their family in a similar state in another room, afterwards putting them as cleaning slaves with peg legs and wooden arms
Guess the game!
Skull and bones
I wouldn't go as far as to use the term ubislop
More like ubilies
Yup, unironically the only physical games I’m willing to buy are in fact cartridges specifically because of the issues and annoyances with disks, so if Nintendo wants to charge $10 more because they’re using a more expensive form of hardware that’s even faster than the previous one, I’m actually fine with that as long as the game is already at a fair price.
As you can guess, the current price for World is not that in my opinion.
Yeah I got no idea tbh
I'm buying a cart so I can emulate when my Nintendo account gets banned
Cod lobbies in Nintendo game chat will be crazy
They're going to hack the camera 🐈
I'll beg that guy on marketplace for the smash ultimate cart
It's a unity game as a hibt
Released 2013
Piss optimization
One thread
I still don't believe that guy was stupid enough to not multi thread
They had core 2 duos at the time
And even now my 2020 Cpu can't handle it
I honestly have no idea, sounds like a pirate game
Why
Peg legs
No but that's just for the torture
That's not a theming thing
Developers are Canadian
10/10 on steam
Think mark think!
Man this is going to look so bad on my search history
You suck at google
I gave you one primary piece of information and a bunch of stuff to narrow it down
10/10s on steam are very rare
The primary info was torture
Of prisoners
Yeah nothing came up except gta v
This has gotta be bait
If you got the bundle & dk. 4 pro controller & the camera. This is the damage
🤷♂️
Oh my you suck at google
That was my first try
You don't put the hint in the search bar
OneXSugar all the way baby. Who knows how long that sweet fire will burn. Switch 2 will be here for the next 10 years
Chatgpt hasn't been much help either
Put the primary information in the search bar
House of the Dead 2 voice
My god.
"games where you torture prisoners"
You gave me the game with like the worst subject matter ever lmao
Even chatgpt is questioning my sanity
For the love of god, just tell him what the game is.
I'm teaching him how to google
Do you know?
that's w/ 10% sales tax. Idk if anyone has that much but if I was a small gaming store that is what my price would be
Do the thing
No, because I’m not even interested in knowing since I’m already frankly a bit weirded out by the “torture prisoners” part, I’m just tired of how they’re handling it.
There was no logo for nvidia anywhere in the presentation
Google what I told you to google in quotations
My local sales tax where I live in Minnesota is 9.875%, so 10% is pretty darn close.
Plus there's an additional tax for purchases over $150, but I can't remember how much that one is.
Fuck it, I’m stopping this nonsense.
There, I did it. Is the game Tormentors?
TX is 8.25%
is why no one lives there?
Thank god i live in VA
5.8 million people live in Minnesota, though with how insanely cold the 6 month long winters get here I often wonder if we're all crazy for making this place our home XD
4.3 sales Tax
Will it get COD?? With controller+mouse support!?
Wonder if Fortnite will have mouse too
It should!
Does this match the 2013 release year I gave?
No, so move onto the next search result
Disney dream light valley?
Ew no
Your hints are terrible
You suck at google
It's not a lot to work with
Lemme record me finding it as if I was an idiot who could google
so finnaly watcchd the stream ... Mario Kart World and DK Bananza looked cool, nice to see strong third party support , but with it being 450-500€, games flirting with 80-90€, and absence of any big hook on top of super weird and anticonsumer features tied to subscriptions and zero specs revealed .... i am bit underwhelmed
Hot take I'm surprised that we had $60 3 decades in the first place
So this economy being 80 is not surprised to me
the fact that ots of the games shown had really afwull frame drop didnt help either
You can't be serious
What is this
That only works if you already knew the premise of the game
Nah
I only google games where you torture prisoners
I even considered that you would believe the 2018 release date
But the redditors testimony was so convincing that I googled it again
And gow is neither 10/10 or 2013
It literally says 2018 on the steam page
Finish the video
Again, this only works if you already knew
I'm so confusing right now
Doing a quick Google search I would naturally skim over it
You suck at googling is the issue
A smart man would follow the leads
That real easy to say when you already knew what to look for lmao
Sorry for being rude but what this got to do with switch 2 related
I've never played it so
Give me a similar "shitty" description of a game you know
Make sure you pick a a primary description that it has a big rep for
I guarantee I'll find it
Make sure you give the same hints
Release year
Steam rating
I did technically find rimworld in my searches, just didn't conclude that it was that
Developer country
Because visually and in the name it looks nothing like a torture game
I guarantee I'll find it and tell you the game
tbh as someone from poor backrground from bornederline eastern europe ... iu found anything above 1000 czk (cca 40€) not worth it and and anything above 2000 donwright ridculous 😄
but i guess explains why i never really flocked to consoles as kid (cause parent werent wealthy enough) nor as an adult
Yhhh
this is good news at least
does this means analog triggers finally?
would be crazy if not, considering the triple a games coming for it
[Switch 2]
Here's a preview video of the revamped Nintendo eShop.
"Thanks to the system's performance capabilities, Nintendo eShop on Switch 2 has been improved and runs smoothly even when displaying a large number of games."

finally store that doesn lag 🤞🏻
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) will come on a physical 64GB game card https://t.co/BMH4nLYTL5
64gb wow
okay...256gb internal storage is not gonna be enough even in the first year 💀
Also it's 1080p 120hz hdr this was a expected of this device
You fight monsters
Came out in 2016,
9/10 on steam
American Developer
Unreal Engine 3
totk having in-game purchase?? is that refering to the upgrade pack?
Thats pretty slow tbh
That's so slow
i thought the charger was rumoured to be 60W?
60W charger should not need 3 hours to charge it
60w charging that need to be 3 hours that's can't be right
probably they are limiting the charging speed in handheld mode. 60w might be only for when it is docked
How's the optimization
Remember that the fight monsters must not be the primary description of the game, but something it is considered for popularly as a "meme"
When was that ever a rule
You're kind of just making this up along as you go
That's what my primary description was
Rimworld is colony simulation video game
You play as three random people who have crash landed on a rimworld near the edge of the galaxy
Along the way, in order to gain more colonists, you may capture other pawns
Due to the nature of rimworld simulation, each individual limb is tracked
For example a left index finger may be scarred
That's the point of what I'm saying here
Pretty different descriptions
You can also manually induce this
By doing surgery on prisoners, you may remove their linbs
Remove arms, legs, tongues,
And replace them with peg legs
Then recruit them as slaves with the ideology dlc
But this torture isn't the main game
Yeah I think this why I didn't get this, that's just not something I'd assume from an outsider looking in
Merely a silly mini game
But, this silly mini game is what rimworld is famous for
Is your monster fighting silly mini game what your game is famous for?
I'm still googling btw
I'll find it
Mine arguably should be easier
UK crew 🫖
First proper preorder is live at Smyths. £2.99 delivery cause they're robbin' bastards.
Xcom 2?
improved performance for switch 1 games is confirmed at least
No
Hmm
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
This one all I need to know
The issue may be that "you fight monsters" is less detailed than describing the torture in real descriptive terms
It evens out, because unreal engine 3 is more specific than just unity
No, because even just torture and unity and 2013 as a description actually narrows it down to one game, whereas your description describes multiple games
I have to guess within those boundaries
There's only one 2013 10/10 torture sim written in unity
Xcom 2 also meets every one of your requirements
But will it run Crysis?
good shout, the base model was sold out but I managed to nab a mario kart bundle

I'm buying a steam deck honestly
Waking up to Switch 2 specs and prices. A solid nope for me. With that pricetag, I expect OLED.
Idk if it's worth it
I have a steam deck, I like it lots
I just need upscaling for switch 1 games
This will be a 3ds launch situation
Steam Deck still OP
The switch won partly because it was a cheap child's console
At this price point you compete with the ps5
it also had banger titles
PC does too
Banger titles that both kids and adults enjoy
I'm not disputing that
Yeah and they’re entering a market where handheld Windows devices and the Steam Deck exist. The Switch had barely any competition at the time.
PC is like a whole different route tho. Even if things like steam deck are making it more mainstream
Also ps5
I know plenty of techies still hesitant to pick up a deck who will preorder this
Or I could buy a super SP!!!!!!!!!
PS5 is irrelevant. It’s not a handheld.
Super SP!!!!!!!!
I think PC handhelds are still too niche for the mainstream
Console
the main reason i wanted one would be the battery life, but its basically on the level of the better pc handhelds, which is pretty disappointing
Hmm I'm Grandma which console do I buy for my kid
Switch is really the only crossover device
and 3 hour charging time is insane
This expensive one or this one?
For the main market anyway
My grandma loved Mario's music. So shed say switch for sure
everyone knows what a nintendo is
The console that doesn’t need a TV. Nintendo stopped competing with the PS and XBox the moment they made the Switch (pun not intended)
Except a ton of people (myself included) use it significantly more docked
explaining something like a steam deck to your average person is a bit harder than explaining a switch
I'm actually surprised that it's not more battery life
Probably skewed in this community tho
I know a lot of people that use the switch as basically a party game console exclusively
That wheel chair basketball game looks fun
it looks exhausting lol
Although u probs gotta be good at it
This as well. Haha. Whenever family visits Mario party comes out
Yeah it’s still not enticing to me. They need to do a PS2 IMO. Make a loss with the console and make profit from the games.
Unless you use a treadmill
Nintendo also plays long game. And they're not dumb. They may just plan on a slow sale roll
I think unless we see performance difference on paper switch 2 should beat steam deck performance
The launch is nasty
I'm either going to wait for a sale or the switch 2 lite i think
That’s not that crazy of a launch tbh
Hmmmm no themes then
A real solid list. Especially since most of it is still in my backlog. Lol
I mean that’s one of the reasons why the Switch sold so well IMO. It caters to both those who use it as a home console as well as those who only use it as a handheld (me).
That's not what Grandmas thinking
She's a bit old
It's way better than xbox or playstation launch even tho not fair they got launched five years ago
I mean it’s good don’t get me wrong. There’s still a lot of games this year for it I’m excited for
isnt that implied by just having stronger HW
I'm excited for that new DK game that comes out a month after launch
Only first party Sony had was spiderman demons souls I think
I don’t think you know the developing market that well lol.
Ngl the switch 2 like a 7/10
What. Lol. The current market still heavily revolves around having a TV. Especially to Grandma
Need a smash at launch
Even kids making choices won't be argued with by their parents to buy the cheap one
sakurai is busy with kirby air riders
and I'm glad for him, honestly
I didnt' want sakurai to be stuck in smash bros jail for the rest of his career
Was anyone expecting 120hz screen?
Switch 2 will just be that big Christmas purchase for a lot of kids. Anyone thinking they won't want one or will all want steam decks instead is dellusional
When they said IPS I at least hoped so
genuinely the most surprising thing about the specs was that
I didn't believe the leaks about 120hz VRR, but I'm happy
Nah it doesn’t. Otherwise the Switch Lite wouldn’t have sold well either. You’d be surprise by how many parents out there are like “No TV time! But phone/ipad/handheld screens are okay”.
From nintendo I was shocked
It is super nice. 60hz 4K shocked me a little
That's shocked me
I don't even know nintendo can do that
I mean 4k makes sense now that everyone has a 4k tv
oh is it vrr too?
Yep
You buy switch lite because you have more than one kid. And all want to play at once. That doesn't mean you don't also have a switch plugged into a tv
oh nice
This is such a first world/developed nation mentality lol
Which is where they sell the most of these, yes
my sister has a switch of her own, and her children both have their own switch lites
SMASH!
I'm sure there's many such cases
I think the number of combo households is pretty high honestly
Nintendo is going to make money money
Looks like both are out of stock now!
Almost everyone I know of my age without kids has a switch on the TV and lite for travel.
they were all sold out at my local smyths, I had to pay for the home delivery
I mean they were years apart from eachorher
and only the bundle was in stock
It's not like everyone is buying switch, switch OLED, and switch lite all at once
I don't bring my switch with me any more tbh, I usually bring my steam deck instead
Buy a switch now, get a lite when it drops, get an OLED to upgrade the og over the course of 8 years is totally feasible
If you say so boo. Anyway, original point is that this caters to both home console and portable console gamers. It doesn’t compete with the PS or XBox for that reason alone. It’s in a different console category altogether now.
Well if you don't buy 10 other handhelds a year
but now it competes with pc handhelds 😊
That’s what I said.
I still think pc handhelds are a niche market comparitively
To be fair past the 64/GC era Nintendo has always done its own thing. Usually because it offered fun features and didn't chase power to keep price lower
People seem to be underestimating the Switch’s draw of being a handheld too.
But if this offers fun features and games and has power I'd gladly take it over a ps5
the PS5 has yet to draw me in at all personally
any games that seem remotely interesting just come to PC eventually
Might also come back to first vs 3rd world to some degree. A lot of people dock em. Sure it can be used as a handheld. I take mine on business trips and whatnot. But I'm not carrying it daily. Cause I drive to work and then work all day and drive home
Niche but fast growing I believe.
I truly don't think 450 is bad for this at all
If you're in a country with actual mass transit (of which I'm extremely jealous) it also changed that dynamic
there's often an inherent need for tinkering with PC gaming, it's not always plug and play like it is with a console
explaining to your regular joe that they'd need to enable a specific proton version to play their game would likely turn them off of a steam deck
People saying it's complete with pc handhelds I love x86 handhelds but nintendo is different aura
I know families that only allow their kids to dock their Switch only when the parents are around and they don’t want to watch TV.. Because they only own one TV. That’s one of the third world mindset.
I really love that reddit steam deck fanboys shit all over the switch, now the switch 2 gonna play games better than the deck lol
until the deck 2 comes out, then the cycle repeats lol
Yeah. Makes sense. To be fair with smartphones we just let em play on the TV and do our own thing
True True
That's fine lol, more like just shut up and enjoy
Oh 100%. Once windows handheld manufacturers are able to create a dumbed down interface, the Switch will face tough competition.
Consoles still have that unique ability to require zero effort to make shit work. I mean steamOS is getting pretty close
Exactly
In one of the dev interviews on the Nintendo website, they said that the translation layer for switch 1 games on switch 2 does fix performance, but only certain games will get updates to support higher resolution + frame rates, and other games will have paid upgrades that have new content
But even as a software dev I come home sometimes and just want shit to work. Lol
They said that
I see you are not a Bethesda fan
i mean, isnt that kind of counterintuitive
Which makes sense. For some titles it'll be as simple as pushing an update to remove a cap. Most 3rd parties probably fall under this
The lite is lite
Why? Switch lite is more portable
there's still a friction with PC software on top of that. You're dealing with decades of legacy software, some people might not also know why their game is running poorly. Many people won't know that turning off ambient occlusion or anti-aliasing would improve their framerates, they might not know what these settings even do. A switch is just plug and play so I really don't think PC handhelds are a significant threat to nintendo in this space
One thing steam deck has advantages over switch 2 is indies , old games and emulation
Why would you buy an RP5 and an Odin 2
Switch lite is also cheaper. So I'm more comfortable throwing it in a bag unprotected. Lol
I just feel that anyone who wants a home console won't pick it
I mean people would buy switch lite for travel only or switch oled for docked or handheld mode
I mean the idea is that with the switch its both a handheld and a console, but ig it is nice to have two
Also a reminder that the obsession with frame rate is just us nerds’ obsession. Your average person/family only cares if games run smoothly. They could’ve still kept the screen at 60Hz and it would still sell.
And if valve did some marketing
you're right, they'd pick a PS5 or series X over it if they wanted a dedicated TV box
Well and if you have friends/family you live with
If valve even did marketing they are not available in every country
Why the 4K60 is a bigger thing to me
I think the 120hz refresh is for the devs benifits as much as it is ours
games will be able to run at 40fps with good frame pacing
Like I say it would be better than steam deck performance and on par to par with rog ally
Like if it can put all these titles at 4K60 with decent frame rate, it's a pretty nice system
I doubt many titles will be running native 4k, esp at 60fps
Yeah for me 60/120 matters less. Gimme OLED on that screen. I’m a basic consumer that wants them vibrant colours and deep blacks
Guess the price shocks me less when I consider thst
For switch 1 games
Id assume not. But I'd love to be surprised 😆
I suspect that a lot of it will be using upscaling techniques tbf, maybe the switch 1 games will though
even looking at the new mario kart, that game's not running at native 4k
1080p lcd is good enough for me and it's hdr as well

If 1st party titles do they're gonna look gorgeous
the phawx my goat
preordered
Price shocked me because I thought they would still position themselves as the budget friendly console. USD$449 ain’t it, even with inflation adjusted.
Straya! Man the price tag hurts here
How
you can already preorder?
Fair. I like my blacks black
Well without tarrifs it probably would have been $400. And that's not insane
That's why I'm not complaining about it
A reminder to y’all, Australia and New Zealand usually always gets to preorder and receive our tech stuff first if it’s a global launch
Moving to NZ
nice one, same
Is the Switch 2 more powerful than the Steam Deck?
They do also pay out the ass usually tho
yeah. tho it hurted me more when I imported my Steam Deck OLED only for them to release it officially like months later💀
in some ways it might be
That I might’ve stomached. But yeah. I’m still passing on the Switch 2 since there’s no OLED. Hard to go back to LCD for me.
it will have Nvidias upscaling tech to help with rendering higher resolutions
third party games might run close if not better depending on optimization though
at the very least, its not "obviously" stronger
I assume that this will lead to better performance in several cases
only a 5k mah battery is killing me, i know they want to make sure its a lighter handheld but man
it's also a console, so it'll have bespoke optimization that a PC title doesn't get
On paper yes
have they announced processor or shown any game running betteer?
Well that just became an instant Physical-only for me.
all we know is it's an Nvidia SOC, they haven't revealed more than that
Gotta make sure kids can use it as well. It is a “family” console after all
Custom Nvidia but apparently it could be t239
The Steam Deck Oled has that amount, right?
so "on paper yes" is a straight lie
it seems like it'd be based on ampere architecture in which case
We forget that the Switch is also suppose to be kid-friendly. Doubt Nintendo will change that with current/future releases
Nah I'm not lying because switch 2 would be powerful since it's amperee
ampere is the 3000 series of gpus
Again we need to see real performance
cant say without wattage info. deck has 48 Wh battery, and consumes ~24W at 15W tdp
iirc the phawx said it was around 19 whr
their data sheet advertises 2-6.5 hr battery. SDOled is 2-8 hrs
It was a hell of a direct today but I probably will wait 2 years for Switch 2 OLED or Switch 2 Lite.
yep, the switch 2 isnt going anywhere anytime soon so I think I'll wait
I'm deffo getting one since I don't have no switch In my house
I'd assume if it's Nvidia they have some kind of Nvidia upscaling this time
Yeah for now I am more excited to get a RP5/Odin 2 portal.
yeah for sure, though I don't personally consider that native
Wait until we get the OLED / Lite models and more exclusive games
if the switch 2 wasn't backwards compatible, I wouldn't be buying one at launch like I am
Oh yeah that's fine, but Nvidia upscaling is crazy good. Especially at 4k
if their SoC is supposed to be amazing compared to deck, it wasn't apparent today.
I'm thinking maybe i should get mini pc and switch 2 instead
same
At 4k many say it's even better lol
the only thing stopping the switch 2 from being more powerful than steam deck is the supposed Samsung process node
its not real 4k
I don't think it's going to massively outperform steam deck
we all know how bad the snapdragon 888 and 8 Gen 1 (non plus) was
Nah I will say switch 1 games would get 4k 100%
hopefully it will become more battery efficient with subsequent releases
For me the real competitive advantage is the exclusive games. It’s so big that it’s not really portable. If it’s a couch system I might as well get a Odin 2 portal and stream from PC
900p-1080p to real 4k?
idk
if it was 30fps i would believe
1080p native + dlss upscaling is very possible
https://www.theverge.com/nintendo/641559/nintendo-switch-2-preorder-gameplay-requirements
I want to beat scalpers, but is someone like me going to be penalized and de-prioritized because I haven’t been playing my (broken) switch?
they might have performance options for frame rate or resolution
like metroid prime 4
that's just one way to buy a switch, and yes you get penalized there
I am glad this option exists
That's only through Nintendo. I'm sure you can jump on it when it drops on Amazon, best buy, etc.
And looks amazing.
did they ever mention if the new sticks are hall effect? would be funny if we got stick drift again
nope, they only say that they're more durable
i personally don't think this launch is as compelling as switch 1... no new zelda is a bummer
Again we need to see the performance they said they will show gameplay on nintendo treehouse
I mean, it took me two years to get a series s that way, and 3.5 to get a ps5
Really
At least if it's the transformer model
I guess we'll find out then
there was never gonna be a new zelda game for this system with how recently TOTK came out
I agree
wasn't there a new hyrule warriors? or is that a port
it's a new game
no zelda, no xenoblade, no fire emblem, no mario platformer
It's new game
optimist
would be nice though
For third party games this is best launch for nintendo
give me a xenoblade collect pack!
I was disappointed by the lack of a new mario game, but the mario team looks like they're making a banger donkey kong game instead so I'm still plenty excited
they must've been sitting on this one for a while
I feel that the Switch 2 will not sell as much as the Switch 1, the games are very expensive as well
Yeah I'm in the same boat. No launch titles interest me either.
based tbh
yeah tech looks interesting
yea 80 bucks for mario kart is wild
the new hyrule warriors is not that appealing tbh. the whole reason people care about the previous one was that the champions were great and lovable characters. and the Sages in totk were barely characters at all
Idk man do I buy a steam deck or this
I'm gonna stick with my optimism. Then get disappointed by reviews. And then buy it and not care while having fun playing anyway 😆
they released many marios on the Switch 1, it was time for a new Donkey Kong
i didn't know people cared about warriors games at all lol
Switch 2 would sell since it's backwards compatibility
👌
depends on how much you want switch exclusives
donkey kong does look great
i mean people said the same for ps5
I can't lie the game look fun as hell
then for ps5pro 😄
I'd only get a switch 2 if you like nintendo games
At this point I'd be deciding between getting this and waiting for SD2. Heh
and we are still getting 30fps games .. for reasons
I personally love nintendo games
sd2 is not happening until UDNA, so at least another 2-3 years
I'm definitely going to pick one up at some point, but probably not too soon
Ez cop
I'm personally only into Xenoblade, Zelda, and Metroid. so this direct was kinda mid for me
same, but I don't like Nintendo itself
true
yeah the company itself can be awful
Yeah. But the man has other handhelds
i have my SUPER SP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like none of us probably NEED this
I'm excited about DK and Bravely Default
when does the super SP come out?
i love old nintendo games ..... but i have been kinda struggling with Switch era ... especially when it comes to adiovisuals compared to the rest of the industry ... especiallythe lack of voiceovers
schizo gif is always needed
'tommorow
Square Enix always finds a way to lose money, bravely default remaster to be released only on Switch 2 LMAOOO
Holy shit. This just keeps getting worse every time I see it
I think nintendo switch era was like redemption for wii u situation
Bravely Default 2 sold so poorly on Switch that they had to release it on PC
Which is funny cause at least for first party Wii U was kinda a banger
What a weird system tho
but big part of this is jsut that i was super oversold on the exclsuives , that i guess i build my expectaions way to high and ended up up feeling strongly dissapointed with exception of maybe Mario Wonder and Xeno 3
I understand
Gotta be honest the hate for Nintendo online is wildly over exaggerated. You'd think they killed a puppy lol
Hot damn the Switch 2 is more expensive than the PS5 in Australia.
I didn't get hype until 2022 in my volunteer Job
I dunno. I got good mileage out of switch. Zelda's, kirby, Mario kart, etc
just my wallet
imo the hatred is justified, it's been 5 years of NSO and we still have a pitiful catalog of games and exclusive features
So switch 2 would be my first switch to experience the switch 1 games
Sorry, not literally nso. I mean people hating Nintendo on online spaces
that's exciting, there's so many cool games for you to play
I've seen a lot of people defend it for the simple fact that you can do family groups and pay like $8 every year
I had a switch 1 but never really played much of the exclusives
To be fair I never use PSN or Game Pass for anything but the games anyway. Not sure what features I am missing heh
There werent many first party titles and many were hated back then like nsmbu and starfox
I haven't played a single zelda game
Not to mention there's a lot of trash in all 3. Maybe a little less on switch just cause less shit devs even tried
Personally I don't like it because they have been very unpro-consumer friendly compared to past generations
Yhh and it's would be third nintendo I ever owned since ds/wii
The library was great, especially if you like Nintendo properties. Kirby, 2d and 3d Mario, 2d Metroid, Luigi's mansion, Pikmin, etc etc all came out very well
in my country their games are very expensive
Oh & for anyone who cares. Switch 2 has accessible features.
https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/accessibility/
Wise choice. Zelda ruined my experience with many mediocre games.
"I could just play zelda"
Same Same
I'm def going to play it now I think with improved performance, just never really got around to it
I have only finished Ocarina and I didn't like it very much, I think zelda is not for me
It was just weird in that most of its first party stuff came late and were basically switch games as well
i mean Nintendo is basically the most cutthroad corporation in gaming ... who somehow keeps the public perception of "fun and family"
anything pre N64 is the way to go. Though I just dont have time to really get into the weeds of anything after Link's awakening
majora's mask is my favourite game of all time 🤐
homebrew going to go crazy
🤭
For me it's anything post a link to the past
Disagree. Especially if you owned it at the time. There were super duper long stretches of times with literally nothing to look forward to. Very barren, worst time to be a Nintendo fan
And third party support was horrible
I owned one at the time, I still own one in fact, and I don't remember it being too bad but I was always doing a lot of PC gaming too at the time
Yeah. I'm thinking more of the Wii U Switch crossovers. Guess it was pretty barren
whats the status on super5
js play the games😭😭😭
A jailebroken Switch 2 will be an awesome handheld. Plays Switch 1/2 games plus everything you can do with emulations. Think about that.
Wii U's first real hit was Mario Kart 8, and that had the bad battle mode
To date only console I've thrown in the trash
I've a feeling that that will take a very long time. But I'm buying this Holiday and then holding onto it
that's if it gets jailbroken, it's not guaranteed to happen in a timely manner
Nintendo lawyers getting ready to make bank
It's also not necessarily gonna take forever. Sometimes they fuckup with exploits out the gate
It will take a while but we also have so many handhelds to play with nowadays. I can wait
switch v1 got hacked relatively early in its lifecycle tbf
that was due to an exploit in nvidia's SOC, who knows if that'll happen again
I'ma play all my Switch games on my Odin 2 while I wait for Switch 2 OLED
That was an incredibly huge oversight they cleaned up after a bit
I don't have no handhelds and I'm struggling to pick one 😭😭😭
I actually don't have much negative feelings toward Switch 2 except for game price increase.
I feel that they are doing right decisions
RP Flip 2 if the reviews are good and if you don't need high performance
I can’t decide among RP5/RP Flip 2/Odin 2 Portal/Steam Deck either
Leaning towards RP5/Flip 2
And then down the road Steam Deck 2/other handheld PC
Ayn needs to make an odin 2 portal flip stat
If I started the whole handheld journey again, I'd go Flip 2 + Steam Deck OLED. And then call it a day.
'Dont worry about the $80' - Clippy
Yep, a killer EDC and couch device
Remember when you find the perfect handheld, just fucking leave this community
Everyone should have at least one steam deck
Required by law
If I was me I would say flip 2/rp5 steam deck or rog ally and switch 2
And Reddit and YouTube
That's the catch. You won't
OneXSugar baby. Might just leave the planet
Is the steam deck oled battery life actually that good, that's the main reason why I've considered getting one but for more demanding games I'm not so sure
Steam Deck 2 OLED, someday
NGL the only games on Switch I care about is Zelda, and Pokemon. They've been doin a terrible job with the latter so my motivation to buy the Switch 2 (and future versions) is almost zero
It's good as hell especially old games steam deck is like perfect device for indies old games and emulation
Depends what you consider demanding. Most full OS handhelds are kinda ass with battery when playing modern stuff. Just kinda the way it is
I'd just wait IMO. The handheld industry is evolving rapidly.
I can't speak for me since I don't own switch at all
Steam deck oled battery life is good but sleep with es or retroarch running drains battery really bad, strangely.
What we really need is new battery tech
As interesting as Mario Kart World looked, before learning it's price, I think I'll wait a bit before getting the Switch 2. Maybe I'll get it with Donkey Kong.
Why do most Nintendo fans only care about those games when they have one of the best exclusivity catalogs of the last generation 😭
Oh that's a nice feeling. Wish I could go back to those days.
You can only get so efficient with chips and whatnot. But new battery tech breakthrough would be pretty awesome for everything
i get 2 hours in elden ring at 30fps/high settings. i get ~8 hours of game streaming.
mainly newer-ish games, like late 2010s to early 2020s, from what I've seen its only around 2 hours for stuff like that, which doesn't seem to be as good as I hoped, better than my legion go but not quite there imo
They miss out on the brainrot call of battlepass fun though
Yh so that's why I'm saying nintendo switch 2 would be third console I ever bought since wii/ds
game streaming is so goated
Slap a 3" screen on that bad boy and it'd last much longer
It's more than 2 hours I swear
except for some japanese games. MH Wilds kinda ruins both my switch and my pc when I try to stream it through steam remote play
Because a lot of us grew up with both those franchises being the reason for us to get Nintendo consoles. NGL. Nintendo is very smart to have very good exclusives.
The Pokemon and Zelda franchise being some of their top sellers ain't a joke
Think i'm just going to get a battery pack mount for my legion go, probably better than buying a whole new handheld tbh
tbf, Zelda being on par in sales with Pokemon is a very recent thing, and basically only applies to BotW and TotK iirc.
I say this mostly because people are always asking for a new pokemon, a zelda and a mario, and behind them they have an incredible catalog of games
Shoutout to gamefreak for the achievement
Xenoblade 3, Metroid Dread, Paper Mario TTYD & Pikmin 4 are amazing
Difference is I would replay a Zelda. Not sure id do that with pokemon
Nostalgia is hell of a drug.
You say that as if sales lowered for Pokemon, rather than heightened with Zelda lol
This is why I love ROMhacks. Keeps it fresh
Oh 100%. Makes a world of difference
fr
I have many friends who ignore any switch release just because they are not the 3 main known nintendo games
is so sad
Eh. Totally valid
Before Breath of the Wild, the highest selling Zelda game, not including remakes/remasters was Twilight Princess at almost 9 million sales.
Breath of the Wild has sold almost 33 million units. Tears of the Kingdom is already over 20 million. It's genuinely nuts.
Yeah that's me included
wooh
region locking is back baby!
Although I am already done with the botw/totk hyrule, I still secretly hope that there would be a time travel mod or expansion to connect the two games.
Maybe if I didn't have a backlog of 8000 games on 3 other systems I'd not wait for a main switch title I'm interested in. Heh
The only thing that's got me tempted now is the backwards compatibility
Elden ring that doesn't run like ass would be cool
Can we move on to switch 3 rumours now?
Meanwhile me waiting on a clamshell emulation handheld that I run GameCube on while people get switch 2s for a high price
Realistically, I play more games on a PC. The only draw for me on the Switch are the exclusives.
Even then, time is limited as an adult. So I'm just going to care about the few exclusives I know
Yeah. With a PS5 and PC I'm in the same boat for the most part. Except games I've wanted to be portable that arent
Since I got a Steam Deck, I stopped getting indies on my Switch entirely.
Now I basically only get the Nintendo Exclusives on mine.
Yeah. I prefer them on steam deck too
Yeah. And Steam sales are more often than the Nintendo store sales.
And cheaper usually
Most of what I get on Steam Deck is indies lol. The vast majority of the time the sales are very comparable. Maybe a dollar more or two on Switch than Steam.
And really if I'm really wanting a specific indie game, I will just get it at launch for full price/10% off.
i sell the switch because of my gaming pc and steam deck
Well I still like Nintendo games.
It's not even about sales. Nintendo eshop is horrible to use.
The vast majority of stores are awful to use.
I literally only ever go into the Switch eShop, or PSN to buy a game I already know I'm gonna buy.
what? you don't like slow loading times and ai generated shovelware?
Not if you live in Australia. Indies are noticeably more expensive on the Nintendo store, sale or not
Still better than ubiconnect.
I mostly dislike it for its lack of personal recommendation
Hey man. Australians also have like 1 foot wide spiders that live in their homes. So I expect everything to be slightly insane
Not that I've ever had PlayStation or Xbox stores recommend me stuff I actually want anyway 😆
Beat me to it.
It's probably just a me thing. I just can't get into any 3D Zelda games. I love A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds, but couldn't enjoy Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild.
You forgot about twilight princess
I love em all. Except the first 2
I haven't played it so I can't comment. But for among all Zelda that I have played I only like 2D ones. I also didn't like those on the DS
I think totk is easier to get "into" than oot or botw. Slightly more handholding and the right amount.
Nintendo pls. Why you gotta make people buy new memory cards.
The only one I don't have any real attachment to is Tri Force Heroes
Currently playing The Minish Cap and I love it like the other two 2D Zeldas
Mostly because it released at an awkward time for where I was at in time.
True. Some of their side games are kinda meh
Link's Awakening, and the Oracle games are also great.
Actually I struggled getting into skyward sword
Did you play with the wii mote and swing around LOL
I love Minish Cap.
Skyward sword has somewhat awkward controls
Minish Cap is tied for my favorite 2D Zelda with A Link Between Worlds.
POV: You're watching me do a victory dance after i came in 1st place in Mario Kart on Switch video chat.
💬 16 🔁 2.4K ❤️ 19.8K 👁️ 220.2K
Maybe that's why, cause I didn't. I did actually swing it in twilight princess XD
I have to share this LMAOOO
Somewhat is an understatement 😅
Awkward controls. Kinda bland environments. Annoying side characters.
IGN 10/10 tho
If they released an r36 they would make money money money
Isn't IGN short for IGNore?
Expensive console, expensive games, expensive new SDcard express BS, .... sorry Nintendo, not this time
Damn. They almost got you
Yeah it'll probably be at least 5 years before (Micro)SDExpress gets priced reasonably.
New format memory cards are fucking expensive.
At least they're not Sony proprietary
Like when cameras started using CFExpress, ooft my wallet. Thank fuck I can put them down as a business expensve
I imagine Nintendo would've made a Nintendo proprietary if they could
To be fair their skyward sword review was very well made and had the epic orchestra music playing in the background. I immediately bought my copy after watching that.
Every console is gonna do it anyways
If I buy the international Switch 2 in Japan, can I play Japanese software in English like with the Switch 1?
next gen console yes, Switch isnt a NEXT gen console
Are they even going to sell the international version in Japan, I wonder.
I guess that's a good point
Didn't Lexar already announce SDEX cards $100 for 512GB and $200 for 1TB?
Bad, but hopefully it'll go down like normal SD cards quickly enough.
$200 for 1TB? 💀
i mean i get why they need sd express tbh otherwise load times for modern games would be dogshit
hell nah
we still yet to see the specs to classify it at least gen 8 console
Announce is one thing. With inflation and tariffs going around, I doubt the price will stay
what do specs have to do with it lmao its releasing in 2025 it's a 9th gen console
As if Nintendo followed console gens anymore anyway
Nintendo in their own lane, doing their own shit because they know their big competitors aren't competing with them anymore.
Tbh I don't care specs of games are good lol
The only people competing with Nintendo now are handheld makers and they're tiny compared to Nintendo
I buy Nintendo solely for Nintendo games
Nintendo doesn't need to make a "good" console at this point. Only "good enough"
i dont know you tbh idk how im supposed to recognize that you're just joking when you say something stupid my b
easier to just assume you're stupid cuz people are stupid
do you think they decrease prices as they did in the past because they were too high?
i need to give them another chance one day .... but i dont think i can still disconnect myself from the hype i was told for years ... to be able to enjoy most of them them properly
no not really. maybe for very specific games
More likely they'll push the release of a lite forward
looking at 🎺's tarriff direct , i expect them go higher in coming monhts at least US side
Yeah. True. Lol
Can't wait for Switch 2 Lite in 2027, and Switch 2 OLED in 2028.
yeah i mean i think thats why the gap between the us and japanese price is so big, future proofing so they dont have to raise the price
Not that bad
if the situation gets better they might drop it
"I bit my tongue on my happy meal this morning, 50% tarrifs on China!"
I mean, it's ~3x the cost of normal micro SD cards of the same size lol. I would consider that "bad". Not god awful, but not good either.
Compare it to nvmes first coming out
damn that might complicate our retrogandhelds here
"hopefully it'll go down like normal SD cards quickly enough"
but yeah ive resigned myself to the fact that i need to buy this eventually but im not sure about launch
I'll wait and see.
i have a ps5 and an ally so im not sure how much i care about this for third party
if Nintendo Only use them, dont think so
Just wait for the OLED version in a few years. By then, they would have a solid Switch 2 catalogue. That's what I'm doing.
Im done buying D1 anyway
1 gig read times is insane for something that small
i mean i play competitive splatoon so like, im definitely getting it the moment splatoon 4 hits it lol
Makes sense why it costs so much
regardless of if there's a new model out or not
Fair. Well no rush until that releases then. You have your answer
Ngl wheel chair basketball the best launch title for me
Oh it's gonna get complicated
As interesting as Mario Kart World is to me, it's not $80 interesting. I'm already only barely okay with paying $70 for a select few titles.
Then splatoon 4 special edition launches for $50 more
3 months later it will be like 40-50
Probably
??? splatoon 4 doesnt exist yet lol. but they didnt include 3 in the list of switch 2 enhanced games so i figure 4 is coming soon
People love to say Nintendo games never go on sale, but a quick look at sales history on DekuDeals usually proves them wrong lol.
June is too early, rather take my vacation, Ill wait at least Christmas or 2026
Considering it's open world, I would wait until they sort out the kinks. Can't recall a Nintendo game that had an online aspect without any issues.
I've been tossing $20 in a secondary savings account for the Switch 2 since the start of the year lol.
On launch day I mean
Currently at $260, will be at $460 at Swtich 2's release.
And I'll probably just wait until DK Bananza's release to get one tbh.
Mario Kart 8 on wii U was great day one
the cheap jp switch:
I'm willing to beat they're selling that thing at a major loss.
Probably more closer to cost at best
yeah 135 USD cheaper, guessing they're eating at least 75USD loss
Duality of man
Switch 2 is not using very expensive components
Then this cheap Switch 2 becomes collectible item and more expensive than regular Switch 2 in a few years
I think is expensive because of the Dock 😦
yeah its becoming pretty clear the SoC is not as good as it was hyped up to be
Second it would be uk prices
$400 is what I wanted, but $450 was still in my realm of expectations
Probably break even or loss with the console, and make up for it with game sales. Like the PS2 did
What do you mean then it was hyped up to be? Oren is like 2 years old at this point and was heavily cost optimized over power
People was excited to be light and powerful
As ps4 handheld
That still seems the case
I have no idea why people are thinking the switch 2 cost as much to make as a current gen ayn device
All I care is I'm going to play switch 1 games since this is my first switch I ever own
And ayn makes devices to make money
Plus at least in uk its £395 for base model that's win in my books
Japan and UK are eating good
nvidia was far ahead in both raster and compute/rtx than amd, i expected this to blow away steam deck.
Well that didn't pan out did it?
We don't know the performance yet tho
On paper it should be better than steam deck
We have a rough idea of what Oren can do
Expect the switch 2 to be a bit better then a steam deck but worse then a current gen handheld from a OEM
nothing they showed today looked or ran better than deck. yes we don't have framegraphs but i doubt it will completely contradict eye test
That's if Nintendo doesn't downclock the hell out of the device no?
They did for the Switch 1 iirc.
2 hours which is worst than switch lite and og switch
Exactly
if it runs elden ring at 60 fps i'll eat my hat.

hes so happy
Let me be honest as well steam deck can't even do 60fps for Elden ring or cyberpunk
We're assuming they won't underclock to give better battery life
what?
I mean they said its 2 to 6.5 hours
So more demanding games would be 2 hours
Lmaooooo
something entertaining at all times
2 hours. The outrage
Animal Crossing peaking
LOL trump announced 34% tarriffs on japan (10% global + 24% japan)
real americans buy steam deck
that's 44% tarriff (10% + 34% china)
real americans buy switch 2
Congrats to the Americans.
But it's using 5220mh meaning it's 19whr battery
Trump is bipolar, Ill chang his mind in few days
They've should've doubled it because real gamers have strong arms, wrists, and hands /s
Yes but people will still complaining anyway
I swear switch direct was like B plus until I looked up more details online lol
80$ dollar game is gross.
20% off is now 64$. And you know nintendo is slow on sales
People always complain. Including myself. Because we all think we're Nintendo's most important customer
Have to buy American made now. Only $2K for 1080p at 30hz
And I have to remind myself, Nintendo caters to kids and families first
🤣🤣🤣🤣
B plus bro that was A Plus for me
I'm sorry they showed more than I expected
I already signed up for Nintendo today after this direct
That's how much nintendo moved me
I never got moved like that since steam deck launch
