I do of course prefer physical cartridges, most of the games I get on Switch don't have a lot of updates, see Nintendo published games. Or they realistically aren't that big.

Like Mario Odyssey's update is only about 400MB, for a 5GB game.

that bit is fine to ensure the speed of games stored on them, but older cards should have been fine for older data or switch 1 games, much like ps5 or xbox require an ssd but backwards compatible stuff would work off an external hd

my expectations are that it's kinda gonna be like the odin 2 portal with it's emulation, perfect gamecube, ps2, wii and in 5 years possibly really good ps vita and ps3 emulation on android
