too much jank both in hardware and software.
The MM+ is the only handheld I've ever actually gifted and there's a good reason for it.
Jelos 0206 still works fine
And I have no real hardware issues with mine
Naturally taped my d-pad, but well
Screwed up
Some people can't figure out how to charge the RGB30 for some reason.
Skill issues
Like I am getting a second RGB30 and that's on top of also having a RGB20SX
But I wouldn't trust them with someone new to this whole stuff.
The same goes with ArkOS, which I love but OnionOS is much better for somone new.
3 rgb30, 1 rgb20sx and a rgCUBE incoming for more 1:1 supremacy
You can brag when you have a Unicorn.
Not even the re-seller want to ship to Germany
U literally have cube to keep u busy
Don’t worry
night light handhelds
It's not here yet, freaking ZOLL
It’s probably declared as 5€ rubix cube
All good
Lol nah, either they get it into the country and relable it as shipped from Netherlands or they actually paid for vat, but ggg stuff was never declared as something funny
No way they paid for vat with those prices
The got a through some loopholes for sure
Also I never said rubix cubes are funny
The way Im seeing it here are the pros and cons.
Pros
4" IPS Display Vs 3.5" on H
Better menu button position vs H
More ergonomic vs H
Stacked Shoulder Buttons vs Inline on H
Cons
Less Pocketable
I know Im an Anbernic Shill but this is a go for me
The only place they went wrong is that they didnt make the speakers front firing. But Ill forgive them because they made the SP
Worse start and select too.
Maybe less battery life too, since the screen is bigger but the battery stayed 3300mAh
But it’s just a prototype for now
Yeah they couldve put them where the H has them
Yeah I think the finally version will have a 4000mah Battery
4500 like the 405 could be doable
TSP has 5000mAh for reference
Don’t get me wrong 4000 on a h700 is still solid
nah, this will get 3200 just to cut cost
yeah, no point in getting this one tbh
Says the cube buyer lol
I’ll be getting this one to replace my sold 35XX H
My older eyes will be thanking me for it
Tbf I haven’t seen a single negative cube review yet
It's not a bad device in a vacuum it's just pointless with everything around it existing
Pointless isn’t in anbernics vocabulary
But I get your point
I'm torn on what to get to replace my old devices but this is kinda in the running
it looks comfy
just hoping it's still halfway pocketable despite the sticks and shoulders
They'll probably pull a Retroid and sell grips to increase comfort. More money
it's already rounded and decent sized
should be similar ergo to the 353p
I wish they'd gone wedge shaped for the whole device over those shoulder bumps though
but that's a pocket concern not an in-hand concern
I think the route theyre taking makes more sense than something like the TrimUI Smart Pro. How many people complained about how bad the shoulder buttons are and the joysticks being crazy recessed. Also 4:3 >>> 16:9 for retro gaming. Im all for this one. H700 is solid. But they should also make a pro version with andorid and a more powerful chip
I'm just torn because obviosuly while it's not the same price bracket if I can't fit this in my pocket there is much more of an argument for 'just use the odin 2' or whatever
This one was always a not a pocket device
yeah I just think the wedge of the 353p is just a nice shape
even just for aesthetics
plus they could've maybe fit a bigger battery in
Yeah man. I have an odin 2. Still want something 4:3 4" display with power.
I'm curious how the battery life on this one works out - is it gonna be shorter than the 35xxH or SP because of the bigger screen with the same battery?
and if so by how much
If it is the same battery its gonna be worst for sure.
for me the main system I'd play on the 40xxH would be ps1 so I'm curious what the battery life doing that is gonna be - under 4 hours would be a dealbreaker for me
I think 80$ tops and thats reaching. Knowing Anbernic Ide say low 70s
yeah, if it's $70, comfy, and has good enough battery life I'd be tempted just to get one as a dedicated ps1 device in that blue
I think they should have the space for a bigger battery
That blue is 💙
I want Anbernic to harder with different colors
Like a red too would be nice
yeah the orange 28xx was nice
Vita vibes
I looked at the 35xx to compare with this and didn't realize how absurdly boring they'd gone with that one
I think Anbernic plays it safe with color options because they know colors like orange will be polarizing
All black is always safe, just like white and dmg
But its super boring
We need another snes colorway like that Rg353p
I like grey colourways usually
the main ones I don't like are black, white, or anything transparent
Need more wood grain
There will still be a T820 4:3 device at some point, but it won't be a pro model of this one, such things would confuse their two tiers of hardware
They have a pattern with their colours, at least one will be white/black/dmg, at least one will be transparent and then they have flexibility on the remaining options so SP got a 2nd transparent and an og SP colour
It is not about them being boring as knowing that more of their audience want the so-called boring options over the whackier ones that a minority loudly talk up and then don't buy anyway
wood grain is life
I wish they'd done a wood grain 35xxSP
so it would just look like a wood block in your pocket
F no
Not a single color way I would sacrifice for wood grain
Please no
The thing is I’m always sarcastic about that
But some crazy guy always takes the bait
I would sacrifice transparent black for it
I personally always like white with rainbow 🌈 buttons
Ofc the one I ordered 💀
lol, I mean more colors hurts literally no one
They should have sacrificed one of the transparents for a 2nd OG colour
They’ve done everything just right
Yeah the SP needed more og colors
It’s not like they replaced indigo for transparent , like Retroid did
the 35xxH is just so boring
black, transparent white, undersaturated transparent purple... blegh
Seriously
Black is the only decent color
Meanwhile the 28xx cooked
I mean maybe the 40xxh will fully replace it
28XX has the single best DMG ive ever seen
yeah I actually had a hard decision between 3 of the 4 colorways
dmg, orange, and white/lavender
due to the single colour choice for the buttons?
usually they do half black and half red, but didn't on the 28xx did they?
they did
I'm a big fan of two tone buttons and grey bezel on grey devices, but I also am a huge fan of orange
oh, which was the one with a single colour was that the leaked cube that didn't happen?
dmg 405v is single colour
ah, knew there was one they did differently
that one should have had bigger buttons
techdweeb would know
It is not even that they are particularly small, but with that space they just look teeny
tbf I spy some custom buttons in there
those 353vs buttons ain't stock
he has a theme going for him anyways, just like me
Custom custom
oh ffs, I just realised another one with single colours, the 353ps that is sitting by my desk right now.
As he spray paints them if they are not on Etsy
but yeah I'm a sucker for the two tone
all the same colour looks a little cheap to me, all different looks a little childish/garish, 2 tone looks classy
whether that's black + red, blue and purple, or whatever
I think it depends on the contrast with other controls or the shell
I ordered proper snes dual tone (with concave/convex) for my sn30 pro that should arrive soon
does "using original buttons from another color variant" count as custom
orange 28xx works due to all the controls being same and the distinct contrast with the orange
true. for me the cheapest looking devices are the ones that are 100% solid black, 100% solid white, or even worse a mix of the two (panda or reverse panda)
I regretted getting my rgb30 in black
I went for the dark blue rgb30, looks quite close to black but there's enough difference
grass is definitely greener on the other side
the all black looks clean when you get those 'action shots' but when the screen is off it's just a lump of coal
yeah I, an idiot wasn't willing to get that colour because I already had it for the max3pro, despite loving that colour on my max3pro
Just get a custom metal shell for the rgb30
well I think I may not own either of those handhelds anymore and I'm now waiting for a stickless 1:1
Sounds good
stickless? we all know theres a DIY to that
it should be called RGX³ or else
Only colour I regret is my mm+, wanted transparent black but settled for the purple
I've been tempted to do the stickless mod to an rgb20sx
My mm ended up being transparent black and is very nice, but was very tempted by the yellow one that seemingly sold out seconds before I clicked buy
the sticks are way too close to the other controls on that one
as well too close to the bottom of the device to be useful
👀
I know we have seen 3 colours in the leak for this, but I do wonder if they will all make the cut and/or what else we get, no transparent leaked yet
After seeing how they added black to the cube
There’s good odds we can bully them into releasing more colors
4 colours in the leak - the original image was grey, black, blue, then a later video was off white with the lavender like the 'beige white' 28xx
all solid
weird, would that be their first without a transparent in well over a year?
so either they aren't doing transparent this round or not all four of those solids are gonna make it.
no transparent cube
I think after the 556 they realized those rgb sticks look terrible on transparent shells
You could see them resting dmg, but then again it didn't make the list for the 35xx H either
so this having rgb sticks I could see them skipping transparent
which if that gets me a solid blue device then rock on
Can't say I'd miss them, not a big fan
yeah I've only owned two transparent handhelds and they were not my favourite (one was an ice blue MMv4 which I didn't mind actually, the other was a blue arc S that I was mildly embarassed to whip out in front of anyone)
Only one I like is the very smokey black mm
that blue one you mention does look good in pics tho
honestly if I do rebuild my collection I think I might change tactics from wanting variety to wanting them all to look more retro/dmg/us snes/etc
Think that potential blue for the 40xx would nicer if it was a tad darker
I'd want it to match this coffee maker ideally lol
I tend to go for variety with the caveat that I won't opt for variety over a colour I like a lot more
My plus was white due to a dmg 35xx, but I did like the white plus colour too
the dark blue rgb10max3pro is a super nice shell colour
would've preferred grey controls to black on it though
I just hope whatever retroid is cooking for this summer has indigo
solid indigo tho
yeah, their indigo is always solid
it's the GBA/gamecube colour with the light grey controls
white controls would be nicer
it's pretty light
I think it looks better than stark white white would
(though grip, ew, gross)
if they do a flip 2, 4" 4:3, or vertical rp1 remake in that indigo I'm gonna slap that buy button so fast
Anbernic should use that when they eventually do a 3:2 XX
100%. The dream would be a stickless 3:2 that integer scales GBA that actually looks like a GBA
maybe not shaped exactly the same but a stickless candybar 3:2 in a GBA inspired colourway
A more ergo update to gba rather than trying to be a faithful remake would be ideal
I'm more concerned about pockets than ergo but yeah even just an improved version of this would make me happy
make the hinge not break, aim the speakers at my face, put start and select within reach up near the hinge rather than along the bottom edge, maybe a screen upgrade, and you have my dream device
speaker not being above the sticks seems like an oversight, even if it results in a single one
I like the widescreen clamshell for letting me get a proper dual shock layout with the analogs
the only other device that insets the sticks enough to be more gamepad orientation is the 405v
yeah I do not care about stereo sound on a retro handheld tbh
if I need stereo separation there's a headphone jack
indeed, it is like speakers on a monitor, its there to get sound out when you don't have a better option to me
I also just feel like you are never gonna get useful stereo seperation when your speakers are 4" apart at most lol
Realistically it’ll probably be called 40XX Cube since the screen is (almost) 4”
I’m just curious if they’re gonna do other 40XX formats since this is a 40XX H. Would love a 40XX V without the sticks
not a matter of if but a matter of when with anbernic
And better ergo than the 35XX Plus
I want to see that 353M purple shell color brought back, preferably in a 406.
As someone who doesn't have a device with this chipset, it looks pretty cool. I might get it actually. Only dedicated retro handheld I have is the r36s which I regret buying tbh.
There are plenty of RG35 XXSP with the stupid glowing light on the back that never got released and look pretty finished as well so you never know
this device is bs lol it's just a reskin of the 35 with a 4" display
4" screens are nice, what's the problem
It’s got rounded corners, stacked shoulders, and RGB sticks
so is it sold as a shell refresh?
it looks really nice it's so sad it's h700
won't run anything worthwhile not even 2x ps1 in some cases
It's a budget device of course that's where it's at
I didn't know low powered devices needed to also have low tier bodies
Here I thought having access to one of them is still an improvement
but why lit stick tho
Why not
Not sure what games you're playing but I haven't had any issues playing any PS1 games at 2X on my H700 devices.
Also don't see what's wrong with it being a "shell refresh" or whatever you want to call it. To me it's just like deciding between an iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. Some of us only just want a larger screen despite having similar internals.
If you want a more powerful device, just go for a product that's in a different price bracket and target demographic.
There are so many options out there already
This looks like a trimUI smart pro for people who were mad the trimUI had a widescreen but kinda sucks at psp
It being an XX, you could potentially share the same SD on this and say a 28XX or a 35XXSP, that covers a lot of use cases. Large screen at home, portable screen outside.
who was mad about the cheapest 16:9 option on the market?
also the screen is pretty damn nice for the money, even if I usually prefer a less conventional aspect ratio
PSP runs surprisingly well and people are watching videos on their TSP
also it has very lil IPS glow, so it hasn't really bothered me
The TSP is pretty good at PSP nowadays
Me. Because I'm unreasonable and wanted it to be a 4" 4:3 screen instead
But seriously though, was literally going to buy the TSP as a compromise. It sat in my cart. And then the 40XX was out in the wild. Saved some money
This being rubber membrane and having usable sticks is a main differentiator from TSP where dome switch is a deal breaker for some too.
What's the point of a cheap 16:9 that can't play PSP well? 🤨
It's like saying you got the most affordable parachutes for a submarine.
I guess widescreen hacks for PS1? 🫣

Also Russ' review was very influential (as usual) but it had a mistake because the device was set on low performance mode because of a stupid knob. lol.
How was anyone supposed to know in advance that the thing has a physical "make it run slow" button?
Hopefully that’s not a feature Anbernic copies for the 40H
psp on tsp is a whole lot better now than it was at launch thanks to the community
is it perfect? nope but it will get you further than psp on h700 and rk3566 handhelds
To Arm pc handheld or steam deck 2 but even then
It has vulkan now?
For a couple months now yea
worth noting vulkan doesn't work better for all games though, will be worse for some
It's a nice cheap device, makes a pretty decent beater and would be great for kids IMO. The display is neat, even while I'm not a 16:9 fan and it plays as mentioned a fair amount of PSP games for a pricepoint of $45€ that's quite something, videoplayer included. People may complain a bit about the Vita sticks, but they are good enough for what you would realistically play on this. The sleep mode is the best you can get in the Linux space. Honestly, can't say anything bad about the TSP, given what you get for your money. Clearly if you pay more there are better and more powerful systems, but for what it is
i absolutely love it, definitely the steal of the hobby
yeah exactly. there are no better widescreen handhelds you can get at those prices, and outperforms the more expensive rk3566 widescreen handhelds (at least for psp)
mine is always on and ready to go
i wish i could pay an extra 20 or 30 bucks if it made it run full psp though
I saw that thing for like 38€ too
Crazy value
"yeah, but can you fix the light bleed on my screen?"
Consider it a companion to this picture
For 38€ I would have been tempted to pick up a 3rd one
What was this in relation to
Someone told support they had stick drift
It’s 4:3, it’s dpad top, it will run linux, and it’s going to be significantly cheaper
I see no similarities at all other than a bit of design language tbh
Could be their future parts bin reference to boot
Like a sign of them finally ending the use of the rg350 mold for good
hoo boy i almost believed myself for a moment
No, we love that mold
But yeah, maybe we get rgb sticks on every new device from here on
Literally a feature I couldn’t care less about
Actually might even be a con haha
I mean, there seems to be solid evidence that RGB makes sticks worse (limits their range of motion)
At least the way Anbernic does it
A patient stick can have as many diseases problems as they damn well please - Dr John Hickam
It's the form factor. If this were an Android successor for the rg405 it'd be much more relevant. instead a minor shell facelift for an already successful design that was released less than a year ago is quite strange and disappointing.
like I wouldn't pay $50 for this minor upgrade from the 35xxh
but if it actually had more power and was able to push through more demanding content than the 35xxh it'd be worth looking at
no cap if retroid announces a successor to this they'll make more money than the Switch makes for a few months.
if you already own a 35xxH sure
but as someone who doesn't I think I'd pick this over the 35xxH
and that's the weird part, they're probably going to coexist in the lineup
Yeah its not really an upgrade it's a less pocketable/more comfortable parallel, just like all the other XXs live in parallel. And if you've used both a 3.5 in and a 4 in device you know the large difference that makes
I don't have a 35xxh, I have a KT-R1, personally I was waiting for the fabled 406, and hearing this might be the final announcement is weird to me
why would this be a 'final announcement'?
anbernic isn't gonna drop 2 t820 devices in a row
so they'll do 2 more h700s before doing the 406
they've done the compact candybar (35xxH), the micro (28xx), the clamshell (35xxSP), the vertical (35xx+), and now the ergo one (40xxH)
we'll probably also get the one hand rpg machine (28xxV), and the arcade freak (square screen h700/budget cube alternative)
I don't think they reasonably expect the same customer to buy all of them
you really calling the 40xxh ERGO?
look at that back
no ergo there
It’s rounded with stacked shoulders
I expect it’ll be comfy compared to other sub $100 devices
The 353p/ps was comfy
I gotta throw my rgb10max3 at you
Not everything needs to look like a sex toy to be comfy to use
what, lol
don't make me crop a bunch of photos to play 'lelo vibrator or ayn odin 2 grip?'
the tsp is the same shape and it's one of my comfortable handhelds
the rounded shapes really help without needing grips
I expect the odin 2 mini to be comfy too
I didn't say it's not potentially comfy (enough)
personally I'm fine with a lot of shit tbh
ergo doesn't only mean ergo grips
but the grip gang won't be happy
good
it's not really an overly ergo design
ur talking about the 556 when u say ergo lol
the 40xxh is really weird
I'm expecting reviews to rate this well on comfort tbh
that doesn't take away from my point though
which is that this console is weirdly placed.
which i expect reviews to also say
lol
You never had a point you just don't like the device. It has a strong placement
i mean we can agree to disagree
Personally I don't like the device, but I believe I have a point on a more objective level.
who knows, they shit on the rp4p and I don't really mind - tho the x28 is goat in the ergo department IMO
And I did have one, you just might have 🗑️ reading comprehension
Your points are it doesn't have enough power, which is not what it's made for at its price point. And that its body is too nice (??) which is not something anyone else would complain about. Stacked shoulders and better in hand feel are features the XX line has lacked that many look for, and everyone enjoys a better screen.
Please point me towards the point if I missed
I wish this had been wedge shaped like the 353p rather than flat with shoulder bumps
the more compact stacked shoulders would have been nice for making it more pocketable
I don't think the shoulders on this are actually any bigger
I think the rest of the device is just thinner
looks more pronounced evn if the device might be thinner
sticking out shoulder buttons are worse than it being a lil bit thicker
I mean, for someone who doesn't have a handheld, this will be awesome and an easy recommendation
Cheapest up to PSX handheld with a 4 inch 4:3 screen, with good software support and Wi-Fi, what's not to like
indeed, tougher sell for people with existing XX devices, but as a new device it'd be an easy one
Think i'll be tempted by one later on once they get included in the sales
yeah i mean that's mostly the intention of the xx line i think. to be good aggressively priced intro handhelds. sp is a little more than that due to limited handhelds in that form factor (and i guess arguably 28xx for the level of power at that size) but the others aren't super exciting if u have a handheld or two already
and that seems to be working out for them lol
Each new XX model sells the range as much as itself too once you go past the initial launch rush you'd think too
yeah. there's a good dev and user community around the whole range rn so that helps
While not getting garlic hurt them at first, it is probably a blessing in hindsight, you have muos and knulli that are very good options that take differing approaches, plus you have the bonuses like minui support and stockmod
It's just that when you're in the market for a higher-end 4:3 device, watching the 25th xx handheld release with seemingly minor differences is like watching paint dry, so pardon the occasional bitching lol
fair lol. itll probably come eventually
Seems like a reason to get mad at the cube over the XX range tbh, it's clearly bumped the 406 backwards
Oh I do. Doesn't help that Anbernic has been talking about 406 since before 556 was released
Yeah, hyping us up with a better than 480p display the rotten teases
So it's not even "they'll drop every weird handheld before the end game device in the series so you'll buy at least two"
Just very different priorities for the Chinese customers it seems (NDS/3DS over 6th gen)
I would laugh my ass off it Anbernic decides to throw a 406m that would be $200+
And wanting to stick it to Unicorn, of course
Oh, if my logic is correct (they see 6th gen as mostly Western thing), they'll definitely do that
Let them cook
If they manage to source one
oh please don't
Yeah anyone who thought they were gonna do another t820 right after the cube is coping hard
The options were this h700 or a different h700
Personally I would’ve loved a 28xxVM lol
well, nobody expected the 406 to drop right now, but a 4" 4:3 h700 was unexpected
Just a nano but bigger
Earliest you'd think for 3rd t820 would be september and october/november seems more likely
especially with the design that clearly looks like their current Android/t820 devices
the h700 is dropping now so there's more gap between it and the eventual t820 4:3 presumably
next month has to be a 3:2 🙏
Oh, and to add insult to injury, they originally teased 406 for spring before Max got his hard-on against Lao Zhang
similarly a 1:1 XX will probably end the year so it has enough gap between it and cube
(this reads like a very weird dorama btw)
55xx , a 5:3 h700 successor to 552
Drop T820 Arc and I won't need 406 lol

I want both
Cowardice, bring out a 5:6 device instead of a 5:3
souns like a cube with extra steps
meh. Nothing wrong with the form factor. I think it’s a good product to exist. Again. It’s like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Want more pocketability, go for the 35XX H. Want a larger screen, go for the 40XX H. What you’re wanting and complaining about is clearly not something this product is targeted for. You’re probably best waiting for the “iPhone 15 Pro Max” equivalent rather than letting the 40XX bother your sanity.
You’re treating it as if this is an upgrade. Should be viewed as an alternate option IMHO
Anyway, don’t like it, don’t buy it. Many devices out there anyway. A product that suits you doesn’t necessarily suit others
And vice versa
The cube is what has postponed the 405 successor, this is only coming now because their XX range is a relentless machine by this point and getting out the 40XX away from an eventual 406 just means they won't disrupt sales of the other
Also just wait like 40 days and a new handheld will be out that might fit your need
They have slowed down?
mayvbe 90 days then?
10 days
I just hope minUI works on this. Then I will just remove the sticks like the 35xxx H
WHY does dominos sell LARGE PIZZAS when they already sell MEDIUM PIZZAS that are BIG ENOUGH. They should put in a taco bar instead!
There are Taco Bell/ pizza huts in the usa.
What... You can never have enough pizza.
here we get taco bell kfc hybrids
those also.
we used to get wendy's/tim hortons hybrids before tim hortons sold to burger king
no hybrid TH/BK though, I think they dont want to advertise that aquisition
Wait Tim did. I never had true Tim Hortons.
BK bought tim Hortons wtf
There was a tim Hortons at Dover Air Force Base. Seemed very random to me because I've never seen another one anywhere except basically Canada.
I had it in Kandahar and it was great. Line out the door at the boardwalk.
Wtf there was one there? Bagram had like a shitty subway and I can't remember what else.
scotland has been a big market for TH oddly
other than that its basically just canada or military bases containing canadians
Look at all the options for fast food chains! Options! Don’t like one, go to the next one. Just like handhelds. What a radical thought!
Bagram was a shit hole compare to the boardwalk in Kandahar.
Hated walking down Disney
I flew through Kandahar when our c-17 picked up Marines. I didn't get to see the base. We were getting mortared just chilling on the flight line lol
I only visit bagram a few times. Never stayed for long. All my deployments were at Al Udeid. So basically vacation compared to Afghanistan lol
I had people in Manas. I was in Qalat
The army destroyed those bathrooms in Manas. Probably the worst I've ever seen.
At least in the transit tent area
You got two beers in Manas? I remember the chow hall has real candy bars.
Yeah I had bacon there after only having turkey bacon in Qatar. It was glorious.
Yeah and they would get those huge beers. I remember the people there telling me what to get.
Fuck Qatar.
Yeah that place is meh.
That's the only place my job could go. So I went 3 times in 5 years.
I was there long enough to the culture briefing.
I loved the billion hour briefs when you'd get there...
There was always a dude who had been there like 20 times. Must of been guard or reserve.
I flew out on leave form Iraq. I was glad we went to Turkey on the way back.
Lol
I will say when they did a 4 drink day for 4th of July that place went insane haha
Kids just fucked up in 100 degree weather running around like idiots.
I bet they didn't do that again
Apparently during COVID they banned all alcohol. I'm surprised that place didn't burn to the ground.
I was on a small COB. We made wine in 5 gallon water jugs. Apple 2000 and Orange death. Don't make wine with orange juice. Kids.
Lol nice
We're going back to fobs and such in the Pacific. They are making us do so much training. I had to do all these cbts about shit.
I think we taken this thread way too far off topic. LOL
Somebody put a Tim hortons sticker on a grey 40xxH
Did I read that we think this is based on one of their older handheld shells?
It wouldn’t be funny if a Canadian did it they’d just assume you have terrible taste in coffee
Lol
dawg why do they do this 💀
this is the same company still selling devices with physical hard power cut switches just so you can pretend we're still back in the days of this:
makes sense they'd also go back to the 386 'turbo' button
I meant them taking 40 days was them slowing down. 😄
Oh lol
that's a shit way of presenting what I had to say, which is kind of an overt fallacy. If this is what you have to depend on to say I don't have a point, you've demonstrated I'm right about you having trash reading comprehension
it's not up to me to defend my point against someone who simply can't understand it. You can reread what I said here like 15 more times if you want. I said what I had to say.
the "make it run slow" button is actually a power saving mode. pretty neat when you're playing weaker systems like GBA
and you should knock it off
I made it clear I was done. Not everyone has to praise the device.
It's always the weirdest thing to me, people that have the time and energy to hang out in a channel for something they wanna trash, maybe I just have too much going on in my life to want to waste it in such a fashion lol. I'm excited for this device. 3.5 is just a tad small for my taste. 405m was perfect aside from being metal. I'm definitely in on this. Add in the fact that muOS will be available....
I feel the same. It confuses me why people don’t just hang out in the channels for the devices they do have interest in 😬 and yeah H700 with a 640x480 means we’ll be getting CFW pretty much immediately, so that’s always awesome
Might have even ended up keeping my 405m if it wasn't metal. Weight matters more than I thought it would going into this tbh
I'd buy just about any device that muOS supports. Hell I did. Sold an H, later bought another one just to have muOS again haha.
Agreed, not the biggest fan of metal handhelds. I think they are neat, but not for me
The size of the device and the screen size were perfect
I'm a day one shopper for the 40xx
RG Nano is the only metal handheld for me
lol but what if they didn’t change the shape at all and literally just scale up the entire 35xxsp by 30%
I'll still buy it lol
4in screen is perfect size imo
even with the h700 chip...again
but they added sticks on it that has ar gee bee
Ditto. Would buy a 40XX SP even if it didn't change shape.. Unless they come up with a 3:2 SP. That will be the best buy
Sticks on an SP? No buy
but its 4inch screen
Doesn't matter. F**k sticks on an SP device.
nano gang nano gang nano gang
also after thinking about it for a bit I see who the rg40xxh (lol) would be for
that someone is not me, but if that's you I love that for you
to think this could've been the 406 tho
ah well
Eh let’s just give it time. I had to remind myself earlier that it was like 9 years between the OG Gameboy and the Color
yeah it'll be aight
RG NanoXX when? With MinUI and muOS support?

that's a frame 1 buy holy
minUI on the nano would go so crazy
I think I remember seeing something about Shaun trying at some point but it wasn't doing right, or I'm thinking of Seraph with Garlic
the NanoXX would have to be a little bigger (I think) to put the xxh stuff under the hood but that's even better
would kill the Pixel as soon as it dropped lol
I still want a pixel just because I love MinUI so much, but I'm not paying $70-80 for one
Exactly how I feel. It’s a really cool device, but I just can’t justify it to myself at what it sells for
I could justify it if I ever see one at $50 I think
but good luck on that
feel like Anbernic is gonna drop the pixel killer before I find one at a good price lol
which I'm a-ok with
a Nano that can run the portmaster version of Apotris sounds like a day 1 purchase to me
it'd be so dope
with how Anbernic has been machine-gunning these H700 devices it wouldn't surprise me if it pops up in a month or two
556SP wen
28xxVM wen
please
Odin 2 SP with OLED screen pls
Dominos ain't selling Pizza to begin with, glorified pancakes
Nah the 353p still does the same thing
10xxh when
with single stick please
45XX H pls. Come on Anbernic. Start stocking up on KTR1 screens pls
ktr1 display would be better off on a t820 than an XX
they gotta drop an rg55xx OLED onto us next
a 50xx with the old vita screen and rg503 case would be cool
i liked that handheld quite a bit
put refried beans on it and bang
so are we confident the 40xx has the same screen as the rg-arc?
that's the only 4 inch 4:3 we've seen in handhelds, so i'm 99% sure
it would be cool to get a better one though, it's not great (light bleed and muted colors)
it’s gotta be the arc s screen, both don’t have a touchscreen / digitizer
I think there were talks at one point that Anbernic specifically ordered that screen, that's why no other company has a 4 inch 4:3 handheld currently
Time to specifically order the 960x720 variant next in that case
I don't know I just kinda tend to align value propositions by thinking some parts don't belong in some products of certain lower value or higher if they aren't there for practical benefits
Hell, do 1280х960 while they're at it
2K
The arc-d and the arc-s use the same screen
353PS and 353VS also have the same screen as the 353P and 353V but no digitizer
I wanna say the digitizer is only installed in their Android capable handhelds
If I’m wrong
I’m gonna blame @lucid hornet
I vote we blame Pope for everything
smh another sym and the 3rd resell of a h700? doa
xx is always gonna sell
TBH I don’t think any Anbernic H700 is gonna be DOA because of the ease of cfw support
I think it's the 6th. 35xx+, 35xx 2024, 35xxh, 28xx, 35xxSP. Now, the 40XXH
Nothing wrong with people being uninterested in a particular release, but the hyperbole of calling one doa just seems a little daft, even the 35xx (2024) will serve some purpose in the range even if almost nobody in here gave a shite about it
yeah I can say 40xxh has some purpose at least. already recommended someone to wait for it in #🤷│what-do-i-buy
I would call it DOA. I think it's great there are many options for it.
35xx 2024 was completely pointless though. maybe even worse than pointless lol
all it did was confuse people
Only H700 I don't own or care to own
Cynically, I wonder if the 2024 was a lower volume run and mostly exists to make the plus look stronger, same way shops steer you away from the cheapest option to at least the next one up
they should have probably tried to find a better name for it, the 35xx obviously made that difficult but there had to be a better option than 2024
I think it was just to sell something under the base 35xx name without having to still have factory lines up for a chip they were only using for one handheld
Quite possible they'd even run out of stock of the previous chip by this time
While unhelpful in the short term, it would have been nice if they'd renamed 35xx+ to the 35xx V+ and called the 2024 a 35xxV
I think the h700 is a decent lower budget SOC. Many different SKUs make it a easy entry point for many.
they have bits of consistency in their naming and then randomly break it
If the entire range is plastic then fair enough dropping the m/p thing from older gens but they should use H/V as applicable, worry about any that don't fit such as SP later
H700 range should really be 28xxH, 35xxV, 35xxV+, 35xxH, 40xxH and the SP at this point
No idea if this alleviates screen concerns but it's something ig
what is a true landscaped screen?
Rather than a portrait screen that’s rotated like on the rg28xx
Makes sense now. Thank you.
This looks like everything I wanted out of the rk2023
Damn, that's dumb lmao
The fact that haven't done a single H700 or T618 Asym since the 405 despite the success of the 405 is baffling though
sorry, no idea what you mean by that
I am lost also by that comment.
asym meaning asymmetrical as in offset sticks maybe? i guess???
but the 556 and the cube have that and idk why you'd want that on an h700?
The fact that this one IS symmertrical with its size is like a big selling point
purple reminds me of like taro tea
yeah genuinely why would u want offset sticks for something that only does 100% library up to ps1. like yeah u can play a decent amount of n64 and dc well as a treat but u shouldnt be buying the system for that
dpad top makes way more sense for the chipset
4” anbernics with a dpad focus are basically just this, the 405v, and the arc
Granted the arc is hard to beat imo
But it’s also kinda huge
basically as big as rp3+/rp4p
bigger
There's like 10 options in this category of midrange handhelds that max out at 4th gen and DS, etc that are symmetrical, how is being the 10th option a selling point
Like, the size isn't exactly a new thing either
Methinks the market is definitely getting oversaturated and playing it safe is starting to make issues
4 inch 4:3 screens are basically non existent
Anbernic have 2 already
I think Powkiddy has 1 or 2
And then there's like 10 options that have 3.5inch
they don't
You got the Arc which is 1) fighting game oriented and 2) has no sticks, and then the 405m that's stick dominant and a million dollars still for some reason.
This is the generalist catch-all for like every need
genuinely why do u want top stick on something that doesnt even do full library n64 or dreamcast. powkiddy has done a few top stick 3566s and 3326s and i didnt understand that, and i definitely wouldnt understand it for h700 either
Rg405v
Nobody reasonable wants verticals.
Yikes.
I agree the market is crazy saturated, but I just don’t see how it’s causing issues? From a consumer perspective, we’ve got lots of options. Collectors have more to collect to scratch their itch, and people with few devices have a better chance of finding the one that meets their need. From Anbernic’s perspective, like… they’re doing alright as a company haha
If anything I would go as far as to say (barring a tragedy defect release) this will be the defacto best XX device, with the others filling specific needs per person
The more saturated the market became the more samey the handhelds have become imo, we haven't seen many interesting or new ideas for a bit, last one maybe was the Arc or something
The Retroid Flip maybe
But how’s it an issue? Just don’t buy the ones that don’t interest you personally 🙂 I skip tons of devices but I don’t see their existence as problematic
We still haven't gotten a handheld made for DS which is surprising
It's not like the Nintendo DS is a small niche console that only some people like
I imagine that's not an easy feat to pull off by these companies
Retroid should have and could have done it ages ago, showed they were capable of it with the flip
I love the DS myself but I don't see any dual screen retro handhelds coming any time soon
The firmware for two screens is not easy
We are much more likely to get something in 2ds form factor with a tall portrait screen than something with 2 screens
I don't see how if they decide to just treat them like one screen which would work fine for how DS emulators function
I suppose something with one tall vertical screen could work
3:8 is an odd ratio though
...but they aren't one screen lol they are two. At a hardware level u have to treat it as two
I think part of the problem is then it should be a touch screen which makes Linux harder to pull off, and nobody wants cheap jank Android so then the price has to go up to give it decent specs
Emulators have been built to run on one screen despite displaying the two screens for what, nearly a decade or something
Nobody wants the option that has access to the best DS emulators?
Yes I was responding to u suggesting firmware for two screens was easy cuz they can "just treat it as one"
Sorry I mean that if you have Android you don’t want it to be budget. Android on an rk3566 for instance kinda blew
Android ran DS at 2x resolution and the OS of Pocket 2+ smoothly years ago though
Just only had a single screen
Drastic is great, but now MelonDS on Android beats that out because it offers full resolution scale support as well as comparable performance
well, performance isn't really there yet
I just fail to see how this relates whatsoever to the existence of a budget 4” 4:3 Linux handheld
but yeah melonds on android is promising
yeah sounds like u just want anbernic to make something entirely different so ummm... Wait a week or two and maybe their next device announcement will be what u want
We went on a bit of a tangent lol rip
Maybe I'll get semi satisfied by a long vertical single screen device running android some day or something
Got my phone in the meantime with a controller, does 4x MelonDS smoothly
Dual screen is a lot harder than you think. Most dual screen android phones are just mirroring itself. Microsoft is the only good dual screen android.
Yeah I just want a portrait screen handheld for NDS and tate arcade
Easier than dual screen and more versatile
I’m picturing a candy bar shaped device like the rg35xxh with a Sega-style D-pad on top, but then instead of a stick on bottom it’s a second Switch-style split D-pad that can act as face buttons for tate mode stuff or DS
I mean most RG351 have that.
I was picturing something more like a 2ds slab meant for exclusively portrait rather than a wonderswan style device
you could fit a 5" 3:4 onto a 2ds body shape/size no problem
a little taller than ideal for 3ds, a little wider than ideal for NDS, perfect for tate arcade in between the two
My situation, precisely...
Can't imagine taking this thing with me
I wonder if they're making a Nokia styled handheld with old phone buttons but no cellular plans
if it's flat I'd slide it into any number of tablet pockets in a sling bag or whatever
it wouldn't be any harder to lug around than an ipad
Anbernic Brick
with reactive rgb buttons that make you FEEL like the snake
AnBricknic perhaps

OFFICIAL PROMO OUT
Damn not even my rg353p runs Nuclear Strike n64 this well (I mean I do have the PS1 version and if I want I can use duckstation to make it look like N64
)
The RG40XX H comes with three color options: black, gray, and blue. The system has been upgraded to 64-bit system, and the device supports ported games (such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Shredder's Revenge), as well as games from over 30 different platforms including PSP, N64, NDS, DOS, DC, PS1, and more. The dual joysticks are equipped ...
Youtube at same time
Not a fan of the blue, but thats just me
Oh no
It's gonna be a nightmare to disassemble like the RG353P again right?
I fucking said they had no idea what they were doing
If trimui smart pro was made by anbernic
Well at least it's going to come out soon. Say, mid July.
Someone compare it with the TSP once it comes
Kinda warranted
I mean to this day I still don't know how the power compares
I mean, TSP should win, but interesting to see by how much
Like it has same cores, but clocked higher
And also better software support for the GPU (Vulkan and stuff)
Geekbench score is like 8% higher on single thread, but I wonder how much will that GPU help
TSP runs quite hot imo
IIRC the chip in it is just an overclocked A133, otherwise it would run at 1.5GHz just like H700
It gets warm yeah, but I think it's totally ok.
Btw, TSP has this hardware toggle to change CPU speed, doesn't it actually just switch between 1.5 and 1.8 GHz, or is there more to it?
I wanna see better sticks on upcoming devices. Tired of those Switch kind of style sticks, I've always hated them.
or more no-stick devices like the 28xx
Does the h700 devices like the 35xx h 's joysticks have cardinal snapping like their android 's ones?
Yes, they do, but I don't know if it's fixed with latest CFW like Knulli or so. Haven't tested out, yet.
Unironically I want to see a no-stick version of high power handhelds and even console gamepads
Analog triggers, but no analog sticks
same, sticking to my ktr1 until then or another top dpad comes up
Actually I wonder if anyone had sticks replaced with D-pads
Triple d-pads
handheld with this layout

I hope this kind of post can give OP power to pin stuff
you could always ask someone to do it for you
Screen looks crispy. Was hoping for at least one more colorway tho
This is 4:3 right?
Yea
Nice blue color 👍
Do we know how they’re pulling off playing the ports yet?
Watch Anbernic pull a Powkiddy and ship it with muOS
Damn, this is actually looking really good.
Is it common for them to show ports on their official channel? I don’t remember the stock firmware having PortMaster support
This what we need
I feel like they always show Shredder’s Revenge, yet don’t include an “official” way to play it in the stock firmware
That’s what I was wondering I thought it was pretty cool to show off ports on stock
If they do include a way to play ported games, I have to imagine it’ll be pre-pirated one-offs rather than something complex but flexible like portmaster
But that’s just my speculative two cents
As someone who was about to buy an RG35XXH as their first handheld, this is looking kinda perfect for me. The form factor makes a huge difference.
Do you think this will release fairly soon?
We just got the official preview video so probably will see a release in 2ish weeks
Tail end of july the latest
That's not too bad a wait
yeah the turnaround from announcement to release is usually really quick with anbernic
Portmaster installs a bunch of runtimes in its own package and redirects ports and scripts to use the runtimes. My guess this will be the executable and the runtime in one package, while the game assets may or may not be included
those clicky triggers saved me from buying another handheld i dont need
they're so loud
Y'all have better hearing than I do I didn't even notice the sound of the L+R buttons until someone pointed them out. How often will you even use them? They're pretty ancillary even in modern games.
Show me a sub-$100 device that doesn't have microswitch clicky L1/R1 buttons
RG353PS 👀
Which is part of why it’s frustrating that Anbernic keeps using the clickies… they have shown they can do better, but usually don’t 😡
Does the PS not use microswitches? Fair enough then
okay i think this is prolly the best XX device rn after thinking on it
this or the sp is close
also kinda like the grey and blue
Black is pretty sleek but usually a smudge magnet, idk what to go for
I'm pretty sure it does, just well dampened
I could be wrong though
the rg arc has the same shoulders as the P/PS I think and they're pretty quiet
game boy
no shoulder buttons at all
we do need new handhelds without thepesky shoulder buttons you may end up pressing unironically
I was thinking of picking this up to replace my RG353P. It's been gathering dust anyway and I actually would like a bigger screen with roughly the same power
Not like I pushed the thing to its limits anyway
kinda the same with me except i like android dualboot and tinkering
I still can't determine if the sticks are recessed or protruding
maybe my setup shouldn't be miyoo plus (dormant, waiting for new theme) + rg35xx plus (beater) + rg353p (daily for ergonomics, tinkering, android)
it should actually be rg40xxh (daily for ergonomics) + retroid 4 (android) + r36s (beater, tinkering)
I never used Android on mine anyway
My setup is;
RGB30 - Home SNES, NES, GBC, Pico-8
35XX SP - Outdoors Beater
V10 (Incoming) - Home GBA
Odin 2 - Home GC/PS2/Switch/Android
The 40XX shall be my home console for PSX
I agree this will be the definitive XX at least for now
Im kinda surprised at lot of people are not more excited for this one. I think its gonna be a really comfy handheld. Like I get the whole I want more power. But what will top this when it releases for PS1 and under? Theres no really good 4" 4:3 handhelds that are dpad centric. Correct me if Im wrong
Just the two RG Arc variants
This feels more general use than the Arc though
Yes but its a niche device. Great for fighting games and sega stuff but okay for everything else. Plus its massive
My friend showed me how big the arc is. I was genuinely surprised how large it is
Totally agree! And if it's gonna be under 80/70$, it's gonna be a banger!
Yeah I dont think Anbernic would price it higher than $80 that would be a mistake
If the SP is $65 retail this has to hover around $75
H has awful color options. Anbernic dropped the ball with that
Okay guys help me tell Anbernic what we want.
4" 720p 4:3 OLED/IPS Touch Screen Display
Unisoc T820 or Better SOC (Preferably more power for PS2)
128GB UFS Internal Storage
8GB LPDDDR4 Ram
5000mAh Battery At least
Wifi & Bluetooth Latest
Android 13
Stacked Shoulder Buttons
Dual Front Firing Speakers
Start and Select Above Action Buttons and Dpad
Menu Button on the face of the device.
Mid Size joysticks 🕹️ with full range of motion (no snapping in the cardinal directions) in a PS layout
USB C Charging/OTG centered on the bottom of handheld for easy docking
Form factor of the RG40XXH
Somehow still fits in your pocket
Under $200
I like the black one idk
I'd want at least 8gb ram for android 13 imo
Okay ill fix it
honest answer is most of us here probably has some xx device already and aren't itching to get another one
Yeah I have like 8 of them
not that I'm particularly disappointed about it, more options are good. but it'll keep happening as they keep making new ones lol
might as well experiment with new form factors while they're at it
More options is never a bad thing you know. Anbernic is the one with the stock. We dont have buy anything
This is a good form factor too. I think alot of people liked the Rk2023 but its powkiddy and they messed it up with the branding and horrible dpad
This will be similar but by Anbernic
I agree it won't pull many existing owners. I happen to live in a densely populated metro area so I have the privilege of being able to sell devices on for sale apps within a few days, so I'll be offloading my SP and swapping with this
Not the SP 💔
Youre a madman
Curious what color are you getting ?
I know =/ but im enforcing a strict 2 device maximum on myself in fear of spiraling out of control
Leaning towards grey atm
Im way down that rabbit hole
Do tell...
It's a slippery one
Then there are some people who have 4 to balance out things
Tbh alot of them are review units
Meh...
I think the right number is 3
timely reminder that we have an aspiring device minimalist role and a handhelds anonymous channel to go along with it
Sorry 😅
ooo lemme grab that minimalist real quick
nah you're good lol
Ahem... you don't know me that much, but thankyou 🤪
I have 5
Ban has his own channel?
Someone should make a poll here to track the color option choices
Black is super nice on this one. RGB sticks really stand out
The choice is easy for me.
Black>DMG>Blue
The rgb def looks the best on the black, as does the screen bezel
But i wanna see how it handles smudges first, if it has 556 body material or like 28xx material
Yeah this is very important not all black finishes are the same
Sometime they feel crappy
I can’t blame you if got them for the right price
#ban‘s-bins
Banger
blue is the coolest but i'm not gonna buy it so idk if i should vote
i think if it was transparent blue i wouldve picked it
same i but i like talking abt handhelds
dmg with rgb lights scares me
I'm like 99% sure that shit will stay turned off forever on mine just for battery sake
hm... that as a dedicated psx machine..
i hope anbernic didn't think "oh, they want rgb on them" when we were complaining about the shitty sticks for the last few months
i kinda mess with it
HDMI out
- I feel like people only like blue because it’s new and different.
- Retro needs a black bezel just like the sp does.
- picked black because it’s the only option left and I can’t leave @golden canopy alone 😤
For me it's simply
I'm tired of getting the DMG colorways. It's overdone.
And Blue > Black
More of a when you are gonna buy since it’ll impossible to resist when it drops below $45 on Ali
ehh
The only device that has multiple colorways, that looks BEST in the DMG colorway, is the DMG
i mean i have every other h700 so i might end up biting
True
refried beans can polish any turd
not that i think this is a turd but i have little interest
You have all the turds
So you have to know
That’s a sentence I wish I’d never read 🤢
funnily enough i absolutely love the xx2024 with beans
if the price and quality is right i might bite the black one as a dedicated psx machine
i have the blacked out color and with the analogue pocket theme it looks super slick
U got the transparent black one?
The 28xx not being clear throws it off lol
You a real one 💯
fallout 1 will run on any of these via dosbox
fallout 1 or 2 can run via portmaster
I bet playing descent on this will be cool
They got a bunch of ports working on this one. I think this will come with Stardew & TMNT out the box
🤞🏽 we get branded sds like SP
Im hyped this
Will there be gravity circuit for postmaster? 🥹
The Blue has all the Rizz
Man where my dmg'ers hiding
The blue is the right choice, period
I’m normally a dmg guy but voted blue
Maybe it's my tism kicking in but that shade of blue would like...pull my eyes away from what I'm playing lol. Feels distracting
Okay this thing looks peak..
Like holy feesh
Omg
This looks so good
Anbenrnic keep winning
I used to have a neon green gameboy colour
Correct, this will be linux
Lmao
You don’t want to run android on an h700 lmao
You only have to look at arc-s and XX pricing to see they aren't going to be pricing this too high.
Think we should wait for 3rd party vids to be sure about the blue, anbernic often make some colours worse in their vids. The silver sp looked shitty in their vids and much nicer in reviews and irl.
since this is the best colorway I expect they'll change it before launch, lol.
Anbernic, via YouTube, has officially announced its new RG40XX H. It’ll be more than the 35xxH but less than the arc S I imagine
Maybe the same as the 35xxH
If only the DMG came with a black bezel. I have enough black devices lol
Does this have analog triggers?
I'd also like to know that
between ports and dreamcast there may be just enough games that would use them to not feel completely useless
my guess is it was gonna be the 406 and then it was cooking to death in this shell
or a failed 405p for the same reason
can see it
Was on RH Facebook page. Those people hate this device. It’s like they are majorly invested in anbernic or something. Just strange behavior
anbernic is gonna release 10-12 handhelds this year
if you only like 3 of them that's still 2 more options for you than you're getting from retroid lmao
Good good. Less people to worry about when buying it
https://youtu.be/lgcEK9cMfdg?si=d1YVzTnplDZCpYly
Made this quick video on my thoughts on the reveal
They just keep getting better. The H the handheld I said was the best starter device now has a successor even better than before 4" 4:3 IPS display, Stacked shoulder buttons, better button placement, more comfy, and PORTS!! This is one you don't want to miss.
The blue is what makes me want this device. It's different. 4in display also makes a big difference to me over 3.5
Blue is cool. For me its the shape and 4" 4:3
Shape is cool too. That 4" screen really helps. Strange that .5" makes such a difference but yup
Thats the RG40XX H Wide 2024
Ill tell you what. Anbernic Membrame >>>>>> TrimUI Tactile Buttons
Ha DMG is losing
That's all I care about
RG40XXHXL
The thing is Anbernic definitely has internal sales data. That why they always make dmg. It probably sells well
nostalgia sales are kind of the point of these to begin with so that checks out
They can sell SNES nostalgia too
more skittles pls
I'd prefer 16bit EU colors for the skittles
Thats my favorite. I got a cube coming in that coloe
pretty color make brain happy
DMG needed to be black bezel. Otherwise it’s a lost cause
DMG is a lost cause regardless
Plain black is way worse than dmg
I don’t need my retro handheld to look like a razer gaming product from 2013 thanks
Yeah not a fan of the black but it was the only one with black bezels so it was my only option unfortunately
NGL I don’t own any DMG coloured devices. Still waiting for something with black bezels
Every DMG colored device has been sent or traded away for a better color
I like coloured bezels. Looks more retro to me
I wish the orange 28xx had an orange bezel
I mean, form-wise, coloured bezels look nice. But for me ultimately, I like my bezels to "vanish" when I'm playing games.
Especially if it's a letterboxed game/console
There are other systems besides Nintendo as well. The Arc was a good start but we could use black with red and gold accents too.
me when android device
Wild card: retro ThinkPad color
I bet they will price this at 80$, just because
Honestly the idea that we would potentially be able to share SD cards between a reasonably mid size RG40XXH and your SP or your 28XX is really sounding appealing.
I think I'm gonna go with the black one. Should be great for PSX, as I think the RG35XX-H is just a bit too small for me and gets uncomfortable after a while.
this sums up every h700 3326 handhelds lol
will be good for classic fps ports with those stacked shoulder buttons
h700 handhelds havent even been around for a year no way they're tired even if they've been shoved in every form factor under the sun
They are tired already.
35xxH, 28xx and now this 40xx lol. If this is not tiring I don't know what is
you're right anbernic should be calling me and asking for permission before they start making a new handheld
so tired of these different options
Yes it is tiring of these different options
Lol
they should make The Anbernic
They should make Aspergeritus for all I are
Care
But one thing I know. They should NOT appoint you to make any decision making on what chips to use. 🤣
Anyway on a more serious note. Like what is up with anbernic these days
ill pass that onto max lol
im sure your opinion will stop him from signing my application
They're flooding the market with the same chipset
Nah im more afraid that your opinion will make them go backwards
its a good allrounder chipset ig
Ehhhhhhhh. Doubtful
if theres a better one for the same price im sure they'd like to hear it
Press x for doubt
and then they can remake the whole xx line with that new chipset lol
But anyway I wonder if they're using the same chip all over though. Did they buy the same chip in bulk or something
no they buy them one at a time for each order
i figure they're just making as many low-tier options available as they can
reach as many people as possible
another clone of a machine... why Anbernic?
Find one the suits you and stop the FOMO
Chasing the next unit is bad for you and bad for the economy as well
Good for the economy, bad for the wallet lol.
thankfully i am very satisfied with my 35xxH and rg505. I wont be buying a new one unless one of them gets damaged
This well never be made, but I’m sure down for a PCE-themed handheld
Especially if they make those pointless but cool turbo switches
Does this chip run Dreamcast well?
SA2 gets full speed with a frameskip of 1 for what that's worth
SA2? Never mind figured it out.
pretty solidly but not perfect. Lots of games will need a little frame skip, other games might need speed hacks that can cause graphical glitches.
The short answer is no. This is not the chip for running the DC library. Get something stronger lol
Who wants to bet on Anbernic handheld predictions
Im better they make a RG28XXV next
Ill bet one of my 2024s that no one wants to buy
RG40XXDS
RG40xxSquare
Naw man they'll do a rg43xx next
honestly what I'd LIKE to see from them instead of a 28xxV would be a 31xx, a stickless vertical using the 3.1" 720x720 screen we previously saw on the retro pixel pocket
it's basically the same width as the 2.8" 480p they used for the 28xx just taller
It's official: you've lost me. I can't follow any of that 😅
give me this but from anbernic with l2/r2
the SP shoulders on a little shelf would be perfect
They need a T820 metal handheld
Hopefully they have moved away from the flawed premise that making your device heavier and more expensive is a selling point, particularly when that sizable fixed cost of the shell limits flexibility with sale prices etc too
wtf...................put the RK3566 and i would gladly buy this...........😭
I can understand why people would be annoyed at there not being a higher tier 4:3 (even though one will eventually show up once there's enough of a gap in the t820 releases), but wishing for a 3566 seems like a fairly pointless option
Power difference is almost negligible and you lose battery efficiency for it
You'd be losing out on the healthy h700 cfw situation for a very marginal improvement and would be relying on somebody to port existing cfw to it when most 3566 devs are not keen on anbernic
mainly coz i like rocknix
Ill be honest I want more custom firmware than Muos currently offers. Nothing against those guys. I respect them alot and am grateful for thier work. But i want a cfw along the lines of like Arkos
rocknix should come to the h700 sometime
mainline is making progress
with the 3566 it its also the 4inch device i wanted
i.e. arc witout the shape and analog
I prefer the Arc but not with the current shape.
I’d love something more nomad themed that’s more of a flat candybar but still with the 6 face buttons and sega dpad
The dpad is the most important thing
i'd rather they have the slope - i had my fingers caught between the buttons and the back shell and it sucked
gkd bbg is the one but comes with smaller screen though
No 6 button and adds sticks though
sorry, i meant to said the ozone fighter or windchaser that comes with 6 buttons
Elephant Luigi stick cover
What device is that? I like it

Only complaint is that the face buttons aren't all the same size
Then it'd be perfect for n64
Unfortunately it’s a 3566 so not perfect for n64 either way
The hunt for the perfect n64 handheld continues
If it could boot Android it could have a much better chance at N64 with standalone, I've played quite a few Mario ROM hacks on the RG353P
3566 runs pretty much as bad as the original hardware, sure it's not great for hard to emulate stuff like Goldeneye tbh
GammaCore let's go
Leave the details to #1201650041832611952 then?
Underrated channel I love that you cover stuff alot of people dont
Omg this is nearly it for me
It just needs more power for Saturn and n64
Yea I'm impatient 🤣 I have a need to want it now. So id rather buy a 3566 device now for rocknix than wait for h700
The preference is actually ark so mayhaps I go back to the 503 mayhaps
or #1249641323020156989 lol
EWWWWWWWWW
I'll rather have a GBAsp modded to that
why cant this be the 405m but plastic and dpad on top.................
hell i'll take that with 3566 or h700
not this baby between cube and rg35xxh
I'm confused, that's exactly what this is lol
well, to a point. but if you compare it with the 405, the 405m looks sleeker and no chin.
not to mention a bigger batt
Tempted to grab this just for a native Stardew port
Stacked shoulders tho
Fair enough
