#ADATA XPG NIA
81 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
We were able to check, first worldwide, on XPG’s new handheld console, called NIA!
We bumped into our friend who happened to have the first and only working prototype of NIA, so we opted for a short hands on.
Price close to 500 dollars, good specs and highly usable at least during the short testing time.
Tilt screen 🤣
ya know what, I dig that
FO SHO
It is probably better on your neck and wrists…
allows for more relaxing playing
like you could probably rest it in your lap and play just fine
I like how much those handles flair out
thats kinda ridiculous but i like it. how high does it tilt, can u sit it flat on a table and play it with a controller?
It sounds like they are targeting upgradeability? Swap your own RAM?
It's Computex 2024 and we get an early look at some new cases and a handheld gaming PC coming from XPG.

“Building out for the modding market”
Lpcamm 2 RAM
Going to officially release 3D files and pin out information
oh hold on
I'm VERY interested then

the tilt screen is good for my shitty ass wrists
Could definitely see it being more comfortable. With the kick stand too, can take some weight and angle strain off the wrists.
Will be interested to see what comes of this. Don’t love the look but they have some interesting ideas.
Love the angled screen. Seems a missed opportunity to do the Aya Slide style keyboard if we’re adding points of failure either way, but… still love me some mechanical complexity.
This just takes me back to all those texting phones
I loved that era of tech, and the early smartphone era right afterwards where everyone went “well let’s just make one of those but 100x more useful”
No small part of why I started following handhelds. We still get weird stuff, I love it.
Just need someone to bring this back
LOOKATDATCLUNKYBASTARD
I love it
I wish smartphones were even half as interesting as PDAs were
LG was our only hope for this
I love that the iPhone accessories ecosystem this past year has been so keen on just adding back all the weird stuff the iPhone stole from us in the first place
or Motorola's module system
just give me a sliding keyboard for my phone or a slider phone again
Between Clicks and the M-Con we’re slowly working our way back to that era of phone design, but as a case for the standard boring slab
If the neighbors don’t call the police when you hit Enter, are you really typing?
My carpal tunnel disagrees
In reality I’m with you
I have a mech with blacks just collecting dust
I need ergo boards now
Need to build a split someday
My personal favorite switches so far are Choc Sunsets. Light as they can be while still maintaining enough tactility to know I pressed the things
I prefer the tactile event on clicky switches, but they’re all too heavy and the volume gets on my nerves.
the noises bring me back to when I was learning to type on an old ass type writer because my family didn't trust me to use the computer
then again I was 7 and 8
I like mouse microswitch clicks. Clicky keyboard clicks are about the same pitch, it’s just the volume that kills it for me
I’m sure there’s some twelve step dampening program I could put a clicky keyboard through to get the sound where I like it, but I’d need lighter low profile clicky switches to drop before it’d be worth trying
Or I guess I could throw like brass caps on Choc Whites and let gravity do half the work for me, but then there’s two loud ass elements to dampen lol.
Early early prototype, but some cool features. I told them buttons and dpad need a lot of work still, flat and cheap feeling as of now
But it will have proton
Linux os, no windows
16gb ram, 512gb ssd, Z1E
Cool people, they were very open for ideas
Ips screen
Kickstand that opens up and gives you easy access to ram upgrades
Joystick most likely will be alps
Big, nice weight balance, not loving it as of now, but let's see the next version, lots of potential
ohhhh
no windows barely matters anymore with how good Proton is
Adata is my go to brand for $3-$4 SD cards for my handhelds lol
When you hear about ADATA, chances are that your first thought goes to the various storage solutions the company offers. However, ADATA is dipping its toes into the world of Windows handhelds with the XPG Nia. Stubbs was able to get some hands-on time with the XPG Nia, a device with quite a few unique
so its the ayaneo slide?
The idea is most parts are replaceable. So you could swap out RAM, or 3D print a case.
If it takes off it could be great.
Big if.
Most interesting upcoming handheld to me though. Genuinely trying something different.
Foveated rendering makes 0 sense on a 7” screen 2 feet away from your eyes
Also apparently XPG is into NFT/Crypto weird stuff?
This is interesting but i can already feel my hands cramping with that grip design.
another handheld pc 😴
No news on this since June, but I still like the idea of a customisable handheld.
I hope this is still releasing.
Same. Would be nice to see more easily repairable handhelds like this!
