Oh wait maybe I did
Believe you needed to play as a certain CO and achieve a requirement during the mission to go and face Sonja
Ohhhhhhh interesting
All right, I told people that I was gonna play this game
and like, I did technically play it. I'm just only a few missions in (not field training, actual campaign) and I don't see myself beating it by the deadline
it feels good when I'm not getting my ass beat, but I have faith I will be getting my ass beat very quickly
Actually let me see what mission I'm on
I'm on Mission 6, that one fog-of-war mission
I'm supposed to use Andy for this one, right? I've been using Andy so far
It gets easier after like mission 10 or 11 those few in a row are kinda rough if you haven't played the game much.
I just used max every chance I could but he's not really the best for every mission.
In the first mandatory Max mission, ||the one where you fight Grit for 5 rounds, I admittedly just went full blitz and sucked up that his artillery was going to be picking off my units. which it did. I just needed to get a tank through to keep his infantry from taking my HQ||
Also, btw
any advice on what missions Sami is actually good for?
it'd be nice if the game actually told me what my mission objective was going to be before picking a CO
OK, took Sami into the second Green Earth mission and got absolutely fucking clowned
starting to think I probably should have played a more defensive game
That fog of war with the giant pile of murder units he has backing him up is absolutely brutal
I usually try each of the COs before committing to one to beat a level. I didn't bother using Sami for anything with fog of war. It was too frustrating losing infantry.
I suppose I could try again and see if he'll come to me if I try to establish... yeah, that I worry about
Sami was perfect for open maps and playing aggressively
I'm not sure who to use for this one tho. It's not like Andy or Max's powers would be great for it
There were two I looked up guides for
I'm not sure if I need to be pressing forward aggressively (that got me absolutely fucking clowned) or if I should be putting some lookouts on mountaintops and waiting for him to bring his planes and shit to me
Oh i wonder if that's the one that unlocks some stuff if you beat it with Sami
It feels like I'm navigating a minefield, except the mines have infinity quadrillion movement squares and obliterate you instantly
Yeah défense wins championships .
Patience is really what helped me the most .
Am I supposed to be like. Advancing my line one square a day?
Started working better once I stopped playing aggressively
Well it depends on the map but usually a bit more
I am not expert but my strategy was often to go as far as I can go without being reachable
But you can’t do that in for of war obviously
Yeah, every instant this guy comes out of the woodwork, I lose whole units
I tried to forget about fog of war missions
it feels like he can hide but I can't
...oh, right, hiding is a forest-specific thing
Yeah no, I'm choking hard on this stupid mission
It's ok, my first playthrough was rough.
Just finishing up and I never enjoyed using Sami
Best music tho
Just cleared Kanbei's Error
I think I have like five missions left or something like that?
For me mission 18 was the last one. You might want to use a guide if you want to finish it before the deadline though... last mission took me 9 hours 30 minutes. (I had to restart it multiple times)
Damn.
Depends on who you picked. It's like 18 as the shortest and I think 21 or 22 with rivals mission for the longest.
So what triggers the "completion" screen?
I'm on stage 21 and getting concerned I'm not gonna get this done
Really pissed, stayed up late last night beating the final mission only to find out I unlocked the extra rivals mission unintentially
Probably won't finish in time seeing as it's on the advanced campaign and anyone who has played rivals knows it's an awful slog
😔
That sucks. A guide may help cruise through the last few missions.
Yeah, problem is I'm busy today probably won't have the time to finish
Alright, seems that I'm running with Andy, Olaf and Eagle.
Not the first. Its named the final battle
someone's getting the post-finale mission
I actually reloaded my save state from before the first Drake mission to get ||Drake as a CO instead of Eagle or Sami||
So yeah, I've got ||Andy, Max, and Drake||. Any tips?
It's not advanced campaign thank fuck
Just go murder sturm with max. He makes the final almost trivial, honestly. Use drake or Andy to just build a glob of infantry that the meteor will target and let max roll over everything. Keep his units spread out to minimize meteors. Easy.
...OK, got it
if I was building giant gobs of infantry maybe I should've just gotten Sami smdh
the W H A T
I'm like one click away from victory in the final mission and then I see that
yep that's what happens when you get ||Eagle||
I don't know. I'm not doing it
Welp, once more from the top lads!
strokes her chin.
Hmm. Max should make things easier, except ||the enemy just funnels straight towards Andy and Max is separated from him by that mountain range||
...maybe I need to path south of the mountain range and have Andy fight a retreating battle?
'cause first thing I gotta do is survive that massive blitz in the first few days
Or maybe you basically need to play a game where ||Andy damn near gets wiped out and then the other two have to clean up while Andy keeps a few units in safe spots and pumps out extra units where he can||
Mission 13. I wonder if I can do it now that we have an extra 2 hours
Maybe if you play non-stop I guess …
Can’t stop, won’t stop?
I just read a crackpot strategy for the Rivals mission. Will try it out and update how it went.
For Andy, I just spammed mech units every turn on every factory. Sturm will push hard on the first wave. If you can have Andy hold the factories, then spam mech units like crazy.
After that first wave, Sturm will attack less frequently, but keep building those mechs.
I can't believe that actually fucking worked.
||Just cranked out transport copters and infantries, moved them out to the enemy base continuously and just rushed the capture with the sheer amount of copters and soldiers rushing in.||
I keep forgetting that mech units are a thing and actually can damage vehicles
I am the kind of person who gets into a bit of a mindset of "do not use infantry against vehicles" (but mech are classified in that weird space between the two almost)
Ended up pulling it off, calling the rivals mission a slog on advance campaign would be an understatement
68 days to secure the win
Conquered the advance campaign with a B rank
Anyone else do the advance campaign?
Now that I have a completion save file, eventually. But not anytime soon.
I was worried it would be rough and the latter half of the game felt especially punishing. The first 10 or so missions were not the much harder than normal IMO
Mechs are great at absorbing damage as they can usually dish it out.
If you have Sami, her mechs are basically her tanks.
B rank in the campaign. and to think I was going to write off Advance Wars this month
