Expecting a lot of SteamOS installed on X videos when they release the image in April. Providing they keep their word. But should give us a good idea what the one in May will be like
So legion go s at 700 dollars had same chip as ally z1exteme?
No it's weaker
No it's worse
$599
More ram doesn't make the Z2G not suck
A quick early impressions review of the LEGION GO S experience so far. WIll showcase some gameplay, go over the ergonomics and feel, and share some initial thoughts on the device.

It's not bad because in the uk it's around 549 to 649
However lenovo legion go is around 580 535 used
So it's difficult choice
🤔
🔥 🔥
I'm very curious now
Windows cpu scheduler = big doodoo
Causes serious problems on tdp constrained APUs
Remember the 35xxSP “fix”
I actually don't mind ETA but also don't consider his "reviews" actual reviews and more of a product showcase/highlight video.
I just thought it was pretty ironic
50/50 chance its a SP level "fix"
Either way it'll be interesting what his fix is
Do we think his upload today will be the Lego S update video?
I'm also curious how the Z2G handles emulation
It might be bad due to less CPU power

How Lenovo managed to screw up front facing speakers is beyond me
They didn’t screw them, they just did what they’ve always done
I wonder what ETA's settings were for the Cyberpunk benchmark on the Ally X
Lenovo is back with the Legion Go S, a refined and more portable version of its powerful gaming handheld. Designed for gamers who demand performance and versatility, this Windows-based device delivers an optimized experience in a lighter, more compact form factor without compromising on power.
Key Features:

lol at YouTube auto captions.
Did he change the title? lol
Yeah 😅 no longer the best
I’ve been testing the Legion GO S for over a week now, and after pushing it to its limits, I’ve made my decision—I’m returning it.
At first, I was really excited about this handheld. It looks amazing, has a solid design, great ergonomics, and even VRR support on the display. But after diving deep into performance, I quickly realized something—i...
uh oh
First mistake was thinking its faster than the Z1E but agree with some of his other points
the first mistake was putting a "2" in the chip's name
AMD should have called the chip "Z Lite" or something - so people wouldn't expect better performance than the last-generation device/chip. And then Lenovo shouldn't have put a premium price tag on what's obviously the budget model.
Yeah, i think i will wait for SteamOS model. At least price will seem a bit more justifiable
So I've decided to send back my Lenovo legion Go S as its just not worth the price tag and the performance you get.
#legiongo #handheld
😬
The Lenovo Legion Go S is a smaller handheld gaming PC, packed with an AMD Z2 Go APU, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. But can it keep up with the recent run of excellent gaming handhelds?
Yikes! Even IGN gave it a 6
MSI is over there like ... "See? The original Claw wasn't THAT bad!"
... but more seriously, MSI with the original Claw made the same mistake that Lenovo did here. They put a big price tag on a device that was underpowered compared to cheaper competition. The LeGo S is close in price to the Ally X (Ally X is $70 more new but open box is currently an option) and more expensive than both the original Legion Go and Ally Z1E. If this were $500 like the Steam edition is supposed to be we probably wouldn't be having reviews like this.
Lemme guess, too much water?
I haven't watched any footage but I imagine that the Go S is a better value proposition at $499. There's a good chance we see a price drop on the Windows one, which btw can be imported for about $100ish less from Amazon UK for those interested.
Wierd that we are cheaper for once 😂
Looks like Amazon UK is only 16GB though
Odd 32GB model has disappeared from UK Lenovo site.
maybe they're rethinking their life choices
Just imagine if that 32GB model simply had a Z1E in it instead of a Z2G ...
Would have been THE current device to beat instead of the WTF device.
Even then it should have been $100 less even if that means just dropping 32GB all together
Plus better speakers lol
Does 32gbs of ram benefit the Z2G in any meaningful way
in rare edge cases it can
realistically loading 4K texture packs for games like space marine 2 doesn't do much tho since you have to use upscaling anyways
so being able to allocate more VRAM is a nice to have thing but that's all more or less
think Horizon Forbidden West also does better on handhelds with more than 16GB but again those games are not gonna work too well to begin with so imo it doesn't really matter
and yeah color me surprised that the $730 model has bad reception, everybody could have seen that coming
even the $500 steam OS model is not gonna be insane value since you can get Z1E handhelds for not that much more, but it carves out a niche for native steam OS with valve updates + an 8" screen which is not common at that price point
If the Go S had just kept the Z1E, it'd have been a real competitor to the Ally X - and there'd been actual reasons to buy it over an Ally X.
it won't be the value goat but it offers different specs at 500 bucks, a handheld after all is more than just performance/dollar of the APU
right but that chip is on TSMC 4nm so expect way higher prices for that chip than the Z2 go on TSMC 6nm where wafer prices are significantly lower
Unfortunately, Lenovo's trying to sell us the cheap chip at the expensive price.
Z2 go being lenovo only could just mean it's defect 6800U silicon with half of the CPU fused off
exactly using the Z2 go chip for a handheld that costs $730 is going to fail in this market, they could have known that imo
at 500 bucks it offers an interesting distinction as I said, because you get steam OS on an 8" screen, the CPU cores emulate better than the deck being Zen 3+ and the graphics are a bit faster - efficiency is lower, you don't get the same perf/watt at lower power draw
it's like a different flavor of steam deck so I think it can have a place in the market, esp. if they can manage to get it to around $450 after some months so it wouldn't be far from the 256GB LCD deck
So strange since we don’t even get a white/windows 16gb model here. Not sure why they are having different skus in different markets
We had the 32GB model on the lenovo website. But all other retailers have 16GB. Although the 32GB model vanished today
No longer on Lenovo UK Website

so apparently the US is still getting the 16/512 SKU just at a later date
same goes for the Z1E model
Scared how much that model will cost 😬
Really? Man they’re really making this confusing. A Z1E go s would make more sense. But consumers are going to be confused when the YT reviews just say “go s is trash” but it’s for the z2 go $730 version and not the Z1E version or whatever.
Yes, I have no idea what Lenovo was thinking here
Hopefully they at least change the name a bit. “Go S Extreme” or something
It’s one thing to have Ram or storage options but using different chip should be different model names
Retail price on the Z1E OG Go dropped today in UK to £499 everywhere new (not refurb). So £549 Go S is really not making sense. No idea what Lenovo is doing here. Here some pics from big UK retailer
Also looks like Lenovo pulled OG Go from UK Lenovo site today too. So only 16GB Go S on there now
I don't get it either lol
Not the Z2G
You’re limited elsewhere before ram is an issue
Figured
Gotta be one of the most pointless handhelds so far
Eh I wouldn't say pointless. Just very very poorly executed
If I had the choice between $500 Lego S and steam deck, and I didn't already have a deck I'd probably pick the Lego S
it's a that price point where it barely matters
Like the only reason I bought a steam deck for $650 was because there was no other option at the time
Yeah
If valve subsidizing legion go steam os version,
So far we are playing the how many times can it restart just to get logged into windows game
Wait. hold. UPDATES
zzzz
Doesn't come with a case 😦
Typical Windows experience.
Comfy to hold as I remember
the shoulder buttons are Loud 😭
when you use the trackpad it vibrates the haptics in the worst way BZZZZZZZZZZZZ
like a crappy cellphone
You can turn it off thankfully
Two in one day?? Dang lol
Lol yeah. Wasn't intentional
Sounds like the weekend is gonna be busy, enjoy!
I’m really considering the $500 steam Go S
Yeah, doing valentine's and family stuff...
probably not playing with these

Makes a lot more sense at that price

unless they release a more powerful windows one
but this cpu is questionable lol
at $730
Since the Claw 8 won’t be able to play older games well, I’ll relegate those to the go S
Ugh when you hit the right legion button it takes like 1 second for the quick menu to show up
the lag feels gross
Steam will feel so much better on this
Seems kinda par for the course with these windows handhelds lol
I don't really hate windows on handheld as much as some people, but the legion space is kinda meh software
Wait why wouldn't the claw 8 be good for older games? Intel driver issues?
yeah, intel drivers don't like games below DX10
Ig that makes sense
it uses DXVK for those
Hell, Intel drivers don't like some DX11 games either.
