#Tail Concerto
1 messages Ā· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Thatās me getting snake out of here. Iām excited with the choice
Same, keeping this for last because the psx rocks
From what I played, some pesky kittens are tearing up some shops and you need to grab them and shoot bubbles at them
I think I'll start with this one.
pretty crazy where horrific war ends up when you use the souls of children to power your machinary
Very happy to see this push through, been on my backlog for a while.
MGS lives to show up in nominations another month.
Weird that it's not one of the games I'm super passionate about, but rather a strange game I once played on a random PS1 demo disc and found oddly compelling
Needless to say I have no secrets to share, so I'll be on the same journey of discovery as everyone else. Also BillyZard is my disciple now apparently
AT-ST's are technically mechs. I can't believe you let this slip by you
No ATSTs in KotOR my friend lol
Yup
And also I have to be your disciple
You saved this
@uneven junco is on a 9 month completion streak!
Ah right lol, forgot about that
it also kinda fits as an Armored Core thing
OT: Who the fuck is naming their kid Waffles!?
Me probably
WAFFLES IS MY SON, YOU CANT TAKE HIM
This is Stove Wife all over again
Stove Wife ? You married Stove Cat ?
OK, this game is cute, liking it so far
You didn't?
He left me
Only fitting it was the to send MGS to the runner-up channel once again
Yes!!!
we could do Metal Gear March and MGS would still somehow lose
If KotOR can't win then fuck MGS too
Have you ever considered that the lack of wins until now might be related to the insistence to keep nominating KOTR?
I don't think kotor has ever had a early lead just to lose at the end point

This one a fun one. Excited to get further than ever. (Which isnāt saying much. I have played a bit past the demo onceā¦)
This game is a fever dream for me. I played a Japanese demo of it in the 90s. Not a clue what the game is about.
I played that demo several times. I've been in this hobby for a long time though, and finally was able to play it in English, but it was a long time ago. Beat the first few levels is all. But it is pretty fun.
From what I've seen and read it's basically this
Quite an admirable job that needs doing, I say
I have never heard of this game in my life⦠tried Armored Core 3 and the controls are a bit loopy so came to this and have enjoyed what Iāve played so far!
Reached the first save point. So you slap wardrobes and catch kittens. I hope this won't get too chaotic later on.
There are other elements to the game later as well... Everyones favorite mechanic - minecarts - may or may not make an appearance.
that's as far as I remember.
It's quite sweet, the little graffito the cats painted on the wall and everything. Movement just feels ... like a PS1 game, I guess.
"Hey folks, Officer Ryebread, don't mind me just here to smack the shit out of all your furniture and probably destroy a couple of your kitchen chairs. Pay me no mind, routine inspection."
Chamberlain's VA is either trying to or trying not to do a Droopy impression and failing at either one
This game is cute as hell
Iām probably going to gameover armored core, so this is my game to beat. Currently on the second level hunting cats on an airship
Think you mighta chosen a different second level than I did
Ah thatās possible. I saw there were more options
Oh fuck! Does AC3 have debt limit?
Oh God
AC3 has Human Plus
Looks like I'm doing the age old "Missiles are too expensive, low weight laser sword build time"
Pauper Ninja engage
Finished a few more sections and calling it for tonight!
Where in the living hell is the wine cellar Iām being told to de-kitten?
You mean in the first level? The three doors near the beginning
The extent to which you will be thankful that Waffle auto-grabs ledges when he starts to fall...
Ah I oh no my saw 2 and I thought.
This guy is stealing the whole show
Same VA as Chamberlain interestingly enough
Okay this game is definitely better than MGS. Sorry MGS fans
Valken is hard as hell...
So, in Resaca in that destroyed building right at the beginning ⦠there is a whistle and I want it. How.
I love that one woman who says "Don't destroy my furniture! But of you're on duty, it can't be helped."
Camera kind of sucks tbh. Game could really use manual camera control. Not surprising for a ps1 3d game tho I guess
Pressing O picks up things
I can't reach it. There's a pile of rubble and I can't jump over it nor get past it
Ohhhh, just skip it ha. I have so many whistles saved up already
Wait until after the boss fight
Should clear up
Camera is your biggest enemy, especially in the one level that wants you doing precision platforming
Btw anyone struggling with island-hopping to grab photograph pieces in Airleaf: next time you come back you get a huge upgrade to your fuel capacity
Ah, thanks
So damned adorable
Is there purpose to the photograph pieces? I have so many
Just collectibles you can view in your room
There's a photo album on the desk
Ah booooo
Were it a modern game I suppose there would be an achievement
Whoo! Beat that final boss, what a colossal pain in the ass
So idk whatās wrong but I canāt turn at all? Lol.
Is it just dpad or analog stick to turn? I looked at the controls and didnāt see anything listed. Maybe my Duckstation isnāt configured correctly?
Anyone having any issues with this game in duckstation? Iām playing on a rp2s and Iām getting the weird audio stutter. Itās only happening in duckstation. Same issue doesnāt appear in other emulators
No audio issues on a RP3 through Duckstation. But I canāt turn left or right at all lol.
Ended up needing to change to audio backend for some reason š«
No issues on my 2s yet, but Iām also playing on mute
Yeah you may wanna remap controls, because it is simply dpad/analog to turn
Must have something funky setup, Iāll have to double check
Just beat the mines. Going to do the next level for the night
3 bosses down, 3 crystals collected
How many in total?
Iām not too sure ha. I just checked a guide and noticed Iām on section 7 out of 14
I will play this out. I love it so far. Kinda glad it beat MGS
It seems like a short play too
Short and sweet is my favorite
Yeah my clear time was like 4:23
Just be ready for the hueg difficulty spike you're about to hit Ja
2nd crystal collected
When you land if you press the opposite direction and jump again he does a dive. I cannot tell you how many times Iāve died because of this
I could never get him to reliably dive, it mighta come in handy once or twice in the end-game. Now I ought to go back in and try that
I did it by accident last night and had no idea how to do it again
That gave a laugh
Ah wow, Pewee been through the gauntlet already, then.
me every 5 seconds
Lol
Yeah that was some shit I was not expecting
Fool was a bad bad man when he went to villain lair designer school
used like 7. that was crazy
I just finished it. It was better than I thought, but those last few stages got me good
Having Half-Life flashbacks?
Havenāt played Half-Life yet
Ah ok, yeah ||that whole ending sequence with the platforms and stuff really reminded me of the end levels of the original Half Life.||
I'm really liking the game so far, I think it deserves a switch remaster like Spyro. Having camera control on right analogue would be great.
This game is so charming so far. Just beat the first boss. Think Iām going to try to beat this one this month
Still need to try AC3 tho
any one playing on hard? I'm curious how much the difficulty affects things.
Oh, and now we can play .hack games so we can catch all the references.
This is gonna meet my furry quota for the year isnāt it
Not really. They donāt do anything even remotely sexual. But by the end I did wonder why they used animal people. It didnāt really add anything
Except the cute kittys
You know what. Itās worth it just for the kitty kats
Animals for no reason is closer to what I meant than sexuality. Iām sure thereās plenty of āextracurricular materialsā around this game, though.
Iād rather not research the topic. But yeah, I feel it doesnāt really add anything to the story. Could have been any two groups of people/species and nothing would change
Hmmm⦠this only seems to run well in swanstation core.
Looks and runs great there though
This robot has just the right amount of dumb floppy arm appendages
I love how it swing itās arms. Controls felt good but not being able to control the camera is problematic sometimes
I dunno, one of the collectible pictures is basically a Cyan thirst trap š
Also I think the use of animals was one part charm/mascot era shenanigans, and one part subtle racism commentary
Ok. Yes but most people wonāt even look at the pictures
I hope

You desperately try to wake your dying friend to protect you and your infant sister!?
If you play Fuga you'll know its ALL nationalism/racism commentary
I guess when you think about it 90s/00s games werenāt great at subtext⦠if you suspect it might be implying something it prolly is.
Oh holy shit, they released a prequel to Tail Concerto as recently as 2021? And even a Fuga 2 this year, that's nuts I had no idea
It's a very different game but it's damn good. Play it in French if you do.
In Fuga you can ||yeet kids through your cannons and I cannot even.||
Still struggling through my ||No Soul Cannon|| Play through.
Thankfully, Hero Mode Boron is just insane
Why are dog terrified of cats? Is it the bombs? Has to be. Anyways help fix the transport ship.
I can picture a design meeting where they had it the other way but it was "too expected"
Unhealthy work life balance
I hate the || incompetent rival that takes credit for your work || trope so much, ugh. || The prison escape scene is just š« š« š« ||
I mean thankfully ||Cyan actually kind of redeems himself eventually, plus the Princess never really believes his bullshit||
So is this dude a wolf or a dog or what
Or a fox
Also is this better with an analog stick? I'm debating between playing it on the Miyoo or the vita
it doesnt feel very true analogue? so i think dpad should be fine
Iām weird and use the r buttons to move forward and backward. D-pad is for turning only.
ive been doing that a little honestly, kinda feels better given the camera situation and lack of proper analog
I like it with the stick better. Started with the dpad, but felt wrong
Itās my first game for the rp2s and I love those sticks
Donāt drive tried is what I learned today.
This hideout level is genuinely ruining my night ha
Just past the first boss, this game is silly and charming and I'm here for it!
Temp of doom like mines. Then a super Mario type mission. Only I have give away all my money to get Rescue her. Then stop the terrorists yet again.
Terria > Toadstool!
I just beat the Floating Fortress. Looking to finish this one tomorrow
I kinda hate trying to navigate this jetpack level
First couple levels were fun but not enjoying this one
Jet back was the worse for me.
I pushed through and beat it though. Fun little game
These boss fights are a little long
All the games this month have questionable controls.
Yep
I feel like mechs are hard to do right because of how unwieldy they are in concept.
I think tail concerto handles itself pretty well. It's the camera alot of the time. Back when we didn't have the idea of controlling the camera with the completely unused stick, right fucking there
I try to change the view to top down. Or 1/3 top down. Just each new screen goes back to default
Oh my God. Air leaf
Ok ok, I've figured it out. The jetpack just pushes you straight up and you control your tilt, not your locomotion
Got it got it
We got flair!!
Jumping from pipe to pipe.
I am glad this game won. Breaks up the super serious mecha type games
Secret hideout done. Wasnāt as bad as I read about.
I hate Cyan! So much.
They just dropped the fortress? At lease part of it. Escape just in the nic of time

Airleaf properly sucked, glad that's over!
No more Garfield float.
To be fair, when that game came out the controller with sticks didn't come with the console
writing "buy additional expensive controller or you can't play" on the box probably didn't sound great
I think people just forget that that original Playstation controller didn't have dual analogue.
Which is funny, because games that actually supported the analog controller were pretty limited in number, honestly.
Off the top of my head, I only really know r4, MGS, and ape escape.
Agreed. I wonder if it's good marketing on the part of Sony, or just the fact that the controller has, for the most part, continued in the same form until modern Sony consoles.
I mean, thereās still a lot, but not very many considering the library size. I think itās the latter of that, honestly. Itās been the same controller for 5 generations, who would think it didnāt really matter in the first gen?
https://github.com/libretro/libretro-database/issues/64
I got the ps1 late in the life of the system and it came with a dual sense. When I was a kid I figured the non dual sense was just some mad catz shit
Dual sense
All the good ones
I had a playstation really early on like first 3 months of release. I never bought a dual shock controller for it.
Whoops haha. Dual analogue. I just woke up from a nap
I didn't forget, but the options menu displays a DS and has unique controls for each scheme, just wish they thought just a touch ahead.
Yes, clearly.
Totally agree on the racism analogy. When I realised what they were doing it was my favourite part of the game (finished it on the plane home today)
The mech boss with the magnet was a mofo
Wasn't so bad when you remember that ||R2 walks backward while you shoot forward||
Oh hell. I never thought of that
The final boss was a colossal pain in the ass for me
Also when the month is over and we can have spoiler chats Iāll need some one to explain to me why ||alicia is only pretending to be blind in one eye, like that shot aināt cool||
(Spoiler includes information you find out in the end sequences)
Oh I found that one so much easier than the previous 2 bosses
I did panic when ||he came back to life|| as I didnāt have enough health for a full assault, but managed to ||trigger the thing||
Final boss wasnāt as bad as the level getting to it for me
Half Life flashbacks right?
Iāve only played the first level of half life
Was totally a blend of ||the teleporter clusterfuck in the Lambda labs and the platforming Hell from Xen||
That was recently too and after that level I uninstalled it haha
100% this
That's just tragic. Try Black Mesa if it was the old engine getting you down...
I might! Iām not a huge fps guy though so that couldāve been it
Just got through the teleports ||inside the Iron giant. ||Didnāt find it too difficult. Just pick one color and keep using that color.
Final boss was kind of a ||joke||
Hardest game for me was probably controls and camera
Camera control would of been awesome. I really enjoyed the game. Nice weekend game.
Just got to airleaf. Am I within binging distance of the end?
For the second time I should probably clarify
||Magnet Mech|| was a pain until I realized I could flutter jump
I learned at on that boss also. Once I realized ||I could grab the missiles and throw them back.|| It became kind of easy.
||I tried grabbing the missile the first time, and was unsuccessful, and kept shooting bubbles at it for a while. Tried grabbing the missile again out of frustration that I couldn't escape the damn thing, and it worked. Wasted like the first half of the battle leading them into walls or the magnet.||
I'm learning a thousand and one things I was supposed to do and didn't
I think I just beat the final boss
||As soon as she says "here we go you have hit the action button." Then you will grab the missle. Does about 1/8 damage.||
I must of missed it. I miss people saying things all the time
Killing the mecha with Bubbles sounds like a long battle
Thatās what I didā¦
And yes. It took a bit of time
How did you ||kill the final boss the second time? When he came alive? ||
I gotta figure out what record I want to go with for my completion screenshot. Not sure if I wanna go Catch For Us The Foxes, Paper Tigers, or a Catbite album
Who let the dogs out!
You ||jump and smash one of the crystals||
How I did it. I am scared that some fight him to the death
Just got ||inside the Iron Giant||, gonna stop here for the night and hopefully wrap this up pretty quickly tomorrow!
Unfortunately I do not own the baja men on vinyl
You're very close
Any pusscat dolls?
No surprisingly. I should get on that, my wife loves Nicole Scherzininger. I wound up going with Catch For Us The Foxes. The game involved canines and catching things, seems on brand enough
||Grabbed the the floating gem||
I actually grabbed it by mistake dodging an attackā¦
I didn't vote for it, but I'm starting the game with an open mind š
It looks very childish (not a bad thing) and well done
Oh man, I never knew this either.
I just stood by a wall and jumped at the appropriate time so the missile hit the wall
I was doing the same thing. I was feeling so smart
Just finished, basically only had the final stage and final boss left, neither of which were very troublesome.
I enjoyed it, it's a PS1/N64 era platforming action game so I'm here for it!
Camera sucked, but they all mostly did during that time, so I'm glad the other pieces were charming and fun.
Iāve really been enjoying it so far despite me not really being a fan of PSX/N64 platformer jank lol
Just got past the island hopping level yesterday
The kittens run around so much, I can't focus on anything. I did the Jetpack Session after the first boss and now I'm at the mines. Jumping between this and Assault Suits Valken because both games stress me out. But I'm making progress.
You can use the bubbles on the kittens
Another thing I found out, tapping O uses one arm and dbl tapping uses the other arm. Iirc is right then left?
I know, but that means even more moving things on screen.
Don't get me wrong, I find in quite sweet, but it's not my usual type of game.
I just constantly moved the whole game.
Same, I was arm-swinging like a madman anytime there were kitties on the screen. Only got strategic about it when tanks became involved.
I think itās just if you tap fast enough, the arms go through a combo. Right -> left -> both. If you hold circle, both arms just start spinning for a fun attack.
Although, you canāt grab kittens with that one.
Useful for getting the most out of peopleās wardrobe closets however š
I went through the whole game not knowing I could spin. Coulda been Beyblading!
Wait you can spin?
vertically at least.
You people never READ THE MANUAL... that I forgot to share this time.
the pages are out of order on it, for some reason, but it's there now.
and I'm actually not even sure the spinning thing is in there, now that I glance at it. I just remembered that being a thing. lol.
... Am I a furry now?
A quick confession, I'm a simp for her, lol
Oh wow this timed section is really kicking my ass
Excuse me, this is a Panta stan zone
Getting slap happy is a great way to get some damage on the bosses if they can't turn to face you. So good.
Really satisfying SLAPSLAPSLAPSLAPSLAP
I thought her name would be something cat based. Felicia sin it starts like Feline and sound similar to Alicia
Same thing with princess Terria. She's a terrier.
Panta's cute
Is the game native widescreen or did I set duckstation to stretch accidentally?
The other PSX game I've been playing is 4:3 so settings should be fine
But I don't think 16:9 was actually a thing for PSX
Uh, google says a few PSX games did have widescreen support, including wipeout 3 and Spyro 2. No Tail Concerto there so I'm just stretching I guess
I believe some emulators can do a āwidescreen hackā which doesnāt stretch but actually displays more of the space
That screenshot looks stretched though
Yeah I had the widescreen hack disabled but aspect ratio at 16:9. I'm back to 4:3 righteousness
I'm playing 16:9 and it looks great, but there's one bug, at the prison scene, in which having the wide-screen hack enabled makes the convo between waffle and the girl stop and produce some graphical glitches, so it needs to be disabled for that
š§
I just love such stories as this. Thanks for the experience guys, see you in the next game (Armored Core)
I'm excited to see steambot chronicles in the future, hopefully. Looks really fun.
Hopefully it's the story of my favourite ever wrestler, Ricky Steamboat
Yes, Iām sure it is.
And steamboat Mickey makes a brief appearance too, Iām sure.
I played a little of steambot chronicles. Had a great time with it.
Oh it is bro... I love scenarios when you can shape your own response and be a potty mouth hero such as John McClane
You can interfere in other people's lives and destroy 'em from the inside
I'm in Coolant right now. Game is OK. It looks a bit like a Rare game on N64.
This is by far the best game this month. Thank you, Raven.
Not the kind of game where i expected to hear the sentence "Ashes choked the sky"
Finished, that was great and Solatorobo is definitely going on my list for December
Solatorobo letās go
My brain is telling me there should be some way to upgrade the mech, but I donāt think there is.
I wish panta would hop in as a co-pilot for boss battle.
Mech with a side car?
This game is goofy and charming as heck. I havenāt played very much but Iām enjoying it. š¦¾
There is, right at the end. ||Jetpack becomes not bad with an upgrade||
Can we talk about how bad that final platforming sequence was? I would have lost it on OG hardware
The teleporting bit? Yeah I hated it
One of the worst I've played recently. Just plain awful gamedesign choice
And that camera controls, oh, camera. I know that in '97 with original PS1 controller there was not much options but... R1 and R2 for walking instead of turning camera sideways? Really?
Really ? Didn't even see that
L1 and L2 for camera up and down was tedious enough
It would be reasonable to map L1 and R1 to turn camera sideways. And there are little point to move camera up and down, trajectory of projectiles did not affected anyway
it did, if you kept the button pressed, it followed a dotted trajectory shown, that changed when looking up or down
auto aim was easier, making this a bit pointless
Bizarre, it's not working on my ROM
maybe i'm remembering wrong but it did feel like holding O let me throw manually
i'll try again later
Iām pretty sure it did and you had to use it to hit the kittens up on the cat walk in one of the warehouses in the very first area.
I tried it again and found out I did it wrong - tried to adjust the camera and then use O but for this working out one need to hold O first and only then adjusting. Still weird and inconvenient, imo
So whatās the verdict? Worth the time? Iām for sure gonna do AC3 this month. Not sure about Tail. Seems cute and fun so far through the first boss. Seen some grave complaints here and there in the thread though.
This game will become much harder lately, and not of a fair kind of hard. If you're ready for that, why not
it's cute and charming, doesn't overstay its welcome, actually is even a bit short for my liking
liked it much more than AC3, which I abandoned
||I just destroyed two mechs, the drivers of which are fine, why is the moving fortress exploding, lol||
I think if they made the game longer. It should added a new gameplay mechanic. Game is great and simple. Story moves great. Underwater platforming needs to just be banned from games forever.
The original super mario brothers was the first and last game to do underwater platforming right.
Ultimately, loved the game, but the platforming section in || the iron giant|| leaves a bad aftertaste
Well, I think I just hit the part everyone hates. So at least I know Iām close to finishing
How's the "All Mecha All The Time" crowd feeling about this one??
i loved it. Was light and nice change from the other two.
It's good fun. Cute, but also a good change of pace from the other two titles for this month.
The mecha itself isn't exactly important but damn is it full of character
FLOPPY JOE
It's charming, I enjoyed it.
Does this game have analog controls/compatibility?
Yep, used analog the whole game.
awesome, good to know ^.^
This game is fun except for ||this fucking jet pack section||. What were these game designers thinking.
It's insanely clunky lol
Are you holding forward? Treat it like a plane from modern games, up and down controls the tilt, not the momentum
Yeah I figured that out, but it didn't help much.
I was tearing my hair out til I worked that out. Doesn't help much but mitigates the feeling of "what the fuck is this"
Well I got Grandpa, who's a jerk apparently. Hope that's the end of jet packs.

I feel like people would be much less bothered by the jet pack level if it started off as the upgraded version
I didn't mind the jetpack level...
Does that mean there are MORE jetpack levels?
Yes and no? Optional I suppose
But you have to collect the photographs!!
Oh fun! This game joins Jackie Chan Stuntmaster in the category of "Fun Action Platformer until it decides it wants to be more platformer than its gameplay can handle".... Fun.... Fun job, Tail Concerto.
I feel like that only happens at the end of the game. So itās great they ended the game at that point
this ||inside the Iron Giant shit is atrocious...||
the camera, controls, and physics in this game aren't cut out for any of what it asks
I was about to jump in but you guys kind of scare me .
Nah it's short and totally doable, just helps to vent my frustration in chat. These early 3D platformers tend to overextend themselves on the platforming bit, but TC doesn't prolong that too much
I think the last early 3d platformers I played was Conker . Now that was hard!!
Started this one up
Boy is this camera... Something
By something I mean I might hurl
Did really enjoy the first level and boss though, a lot of fun
yeah i feel like some early 3d platformers really designed their levels around the controls and camera and some didnt and this one kind of didnt
God damn, Just got to || inside the iron giant|| thinking " ph surely this is just overblown"
Spoilers: || ***it wasn't ***||
We donāt lie here. Sir
Except when talking about egg and musashi. š
Just beat the Factory. Woof.
Gonna try to burn through this so I donāt have to worry too much the rest of the month
If you just want to get your steak rolling you could just play cybernator . Itās a pretty easy game .
I just started tail concerto and I feel like itās going to take a long time lol
nah ~ 4.5 hours and there isn't really any side content
I need to get back to this, Iām still in the mines. This is the kind of game where I find myself just wandering around even though thereās nothing to do. Reminds me of MM Legends.
its definitely got that feel about it
Yeah I played a bit more and i see it now ! If itās just about those 5 crystals itās nothing much lol
Iām at the mines too . Youāre right but so far itās not so bad since the areas are not too big .
Pass on that tbh. Already made progress in Concerto and what I played of the first two levels of Cybernator didnāt grab me.
Assault Suit Valkyries is a great game, it's just so damn hard.
Have we talked about the voice acting
In tail I mean
All star cast
Maybe not but Waffle and Alicia are pretty big names and they have the fun voice acting
Just beat the Flying Fortress last night. Almost done I think?
Iām at the abandoned factory now. Slowly getting through the bosses taking no damage retro achievements. May abandoned that idea here eventually.
So I figure Iām about halfway done based on that.
The hard mode boss fights are sooooo loooong
Yeah, they are really just an endurance test on your focus to take no damage.
I was about to say fuck this game but instead decided to say fuck the jetpack level . 800CD742:FFFF
This cat-people vs dog-people storyline is really something!
Is the jet pack part just the one time ||rescuing grandpa in the islands||?
You have to go back for one more story point, and while you are there, the jet pack will be upgraded, making it way easier to get the collectables. But not required.
I just made it inside the iron giant š
Ah, thanks! I did the first jetack mission and didn't find it too bad. I was worried there would be something worse coming up.
Youāre good ! I was totally lost in this maze .
Same. Oof, this is making the jetpack look amazing
Eh, maybe just lucky
Alright I finished.
Yep, just finished too
Am I the only one wishing they was a cat?
Anyone become a Furry because of this game?
I became a mech.
Is the bad platforming you are all talking about the one in the factory ? Or will it get even worse ?
The factory is a pain for me, but mostly because there is no save point before the boss for some reason. Gonna take a while to get this no damage fight in. I've gotten so close a couple times... like one hit left and then I make a stupid mistake.
Oh no thatās so frustrating !
Itās as if they didnāt think of retro achievements when they made that game !
Gawb bless you and your commitment to hard core achievements, but I ain't got time for that. #teamsavestate
There goes another promising run due to an accidental dive. I hate the dive mechanic in this game. Should not have been a thing.
even with the sensitivity set to low, it's dumb.
also, pro tip for the purple tanks in the abandoned factory. ||You can shoot them from clear across the room and not take any damag from them. Just shoot your bubble gun for a good 15-20 seconds, and you can kill them both without any risk.||
You kinda need dive for the final boss
When you dive accidentally, it is annoying, and it doesn't feel 100% consistent, but I think you don't take damage in dive animation, so it feels like go free out of prison card, just use it whenever you about to get hit
Yeah that boss is hard ! Maybe the dive could help but I donāt know how to do it . I just do it accidentally sometimes .
Okay, last one of the month. This is 100% not my jam, but we'll see if I can grind over the next 8 days
I could never figure out how to dive on purpose.
I tend to accidentally dive a lot when trying to jump immediately after landing.
I was finally able to do this last night though.
Yea, like dive right or left was pretty doable to me like 80-85% of the time. Dive backwards was harder to achieve, but also I had no use for it. I'm not sure if you can dive forward
Oh so that was not the last boss lol
I didnāt realize you could dive and didnāt do it a single time all game.
Probably would have helped in some instances, but I was able to juke around the last boss just by running and changing direction if necessary.
It tries to lead you sometimes so if its angle looks like its aiming ahead of you, you can stop and run back the other way to avoid it.
Respect to those who did the platforming all the way to the top of the giant without save states .
Not me, and I'm not ashamed.
The dialogue in this game is a treat
Was not expecting the cat girl to be || complaining incessantly about too much flirting ||
This game and Popfull Mail, with their voice acting and anime cutscenes, should win some GoTY awards.
Cyan is absolutely perfect in every way
Not going to lie, pretty proud of this one. Got all the whistles on the first run, beat the clock on the second.
Those moving platforms are a huge hassle to jump off properly
They really are. I find it easier to use the right shoulder buttons sometimes for the weird platforming. Easier to stay aligned that way.
I think my game broke? I beat the first || flying fortress|| got sent back to my home, and now there's nothing to do. I looked up a guide, and I'm supposed to get a call when I try to board my airship, but I'm not getting one
NVM, walkthrough was incorrect
Needed to talk to a specific random npc
Pretty much any time youāre in Porto, just talk to all 4 or whatever people are there and then try to board your airship. Almost always gets things moving again.
Never had to talk to them before, so it was novel
The final boss absolutely cheats
Will sometimes ||home faster than you move and will snap it's head to laser before you can react ||
Absolute bastard
Really enjoyed this one overall, a simple but fun 3d adventure game with a ton of charm
I need to beat him on hard without taking damage⦠
I'm pretty sure you can maybe dodge the drill attack if you're close him, have plenty of room and at a full run
Couldn't find any reliable way
Iāll finish up sky fortress tonight. Think Iām pretty close to the end.
And hardcore mode again right ?
Getting close.
Going to have to do some hunting in resaca. I think Iām missing like 4 pictures and one whistle there.
I think those two and the two boss fight ones the only non-story based ones.
Anyone get this achievement, or know how to get it? Itās the only one Iām not sure about. Just got inside the iron giant, so Iām not sure how this one plays out.
||load the bonus||
Got it. Havenāt beaten the final boss in hardcore yet. I can do it. I have the pattern and strategy down. Itās just difficult keeping it going for like 30 minutes.
Yeah itās a tough boss. The || lasers ||especially are tricky at first.
Those are easy. The hard part for me is the || spinning charge ||, but I found a way to make it so he never uses it.
Iām sure I could do this in normal mode no problem, but on hard, heās a nasty sponge.
Like I said, it takes a long time to beat. Maybe not 30 full minutes, but it feels like it.
Wow, never uses it? Do you time the knockback or something? I just tried to book it hard left/right as soon as he starts the animation
Major final boss spoilers, but here you go: || essentially yeah. He has his three attacks. As far as I can tell, he always cycles through them in this order: lasers, bombs, charge. But, if you cause a knock down while he is in an attack, that attack is canceled and he will get up and start with the next one. I basically just figured out a good timing to get him a hit or two away from a knock down during the bombs attack. Dodge those, then if you hold r2 and forward, you always face him. I just keep facing him until he lays down to charge, then mash the shot button. He falls, then gets up and fires lasers. Rinse and repeat a bajillion times and heās gone. || itās not terribly difficult, just hard to do for so long. Itās a real drain on your focus and mistakes happen over a long period.
@cobalt grove Oh, and there are no sequels for this game, sadly. Saw you mentioned sequels in your completion photo. The team wanted to do a sequel, but could never convince a publisher to fund. The team eventually went on to do the .hack games. Apparently, there are quite a few references and Easter eggs about tail concerto in those games.
I guess I meant the spiritual sequels like solatorobo apparently is one?
Oh yes. It is. And itās by some of the same developers. Same setting but different stuff, I think. I want to check it out too.
Good job! I see they change the UI on the page like every 2 days
Solatorobo is the same thing as Tail Concerto, or very close from what I can tell. Then the Fuga games are Trpgs
I had Solatorobo in my wishlist but that's not what was picked. Won't stop me from nominating again
They do? How? I keep playing the picture slightly differently, like cropped or I am in the individual achievement instead of my profile page.
And thanks. Still need to get those last few in hardcore.
I mean your profile page definitely looks different, not sure exactly when they changed it, I was sick for about two weeks, but I'm certain it looked different at the beginning of November / end of October. Before that, it looked different also, like you could see your friends in your profile, how many points they earned this week and total, but then in the next change they deleted that.
Don't have screenshots or anything
Now you can sort by completed/ finished etc, and it wasn't there before
Hmm. Iāll have to look around more. Havenāt really noticed anything major, but mostly focused on this one game at the moment.
Finally, itās finished. No more ugly non-yellow borders. š
Legend! mastery for this would have been a toughie
Final boss was a huge pain. The rest want to bad. Some of the whistles were tricky.
Okay, this clicked
And I'm past the back to back platforming bullshit
So hopefully smooth sailing
What part are you at?
The platforming is isn't great but it's manageable and a small part
Make sure to angle the camera above to make jumps much easier
Also, use the R1/R2 buttons to be sure you only go forward and backward once you are lined up on some of the other ones where the camera doesn't want to cooperate.
top hat cat is bad news guys
he just woke up a megazoid
the weird disconnect between cutesty dog and cat people and ANIME BOOBA is off-putting
the princess is good for this in all of her cutscenes
Alicia too.
It's a cutest family friendly aesthetic with a more typical anime story meant for at least older kids
I find the difference pretty funny
I'm so close, def will finish this tonight
It's short, it's fun, it's not hard
Should be easy to get done quick
Took me three or four days with no rushing
Hey me too. I did not like this game for the first two hours but now, god help me, I am rooting for ||waffle and Alicia to get together||. It kinda draws you in lol
lets goooooooo
I agree it has a bit of a slow start
Idk for me it was more an issue of controls
L1 and l2 will center your camera behind you. Platforming is easier with the camera pointed down
I'm very relaxed about that
Still no idea about grabbing
AC tought me some deep shit about controls
Animal crossing?
Ahahaha
yeh, i finally went online to see the final fight. Dam they a sponge
tomorrow is the day
Hard mode final boss took me about 10 minutes, I want to say.
One thing I will say for this game, it doesn't really overstay its gimmicks
Oh my god ||SHE DIDNT NEED THE EYEPATCH????||
Guys I've been meaning to play this but I played MM8 instead
Is mega man a mecha ?
no
I saw that and said ā of course. I should have known ā
Unironically my favorite mainline Mega Man game (mind you I haven't played 9 or 10 yet)
9-10 are kinda ass, the cool part is playng with bass or protoman
MM8 is super cool
but the jupm jump slide slide is giving me ptsd
Get astro crush and cheese half the level
Since it locks you in the air when you use it
but the screen keeps scrolling
yeah, I know the chesse, it's just anoying really
the willy section
gotta make sure not to hit a wall also
just use it at the end
and skip the last section
TBF that's the only hard part of that game, and compared to rest of the franchise... It's unfairly hated on imo
I think it's correctly hated, but there are shit on par and in more quantity on other games lol
it's a very unfair part imo, at the end
but it's manageable
ande astro crushable
but the spritework makes everything worth it
I think it's the prettiest mega man game
at least classic
but top 3 for sure
don't think I'll be able to finish tail concerto sadly
played for like an hour yesterday and it didn't give me what I wanted
curiously I played tron bonne earlier this month lol
Good decision to stop early . It doesnāt get any better.
I enjoyed it. I donāt think the game dropped of in quality or anything like seems to be the popular opinion here. Different though. You have to use the weird controls to your advantage, which I kind of liked.
Yeah, the watery platforming inside the iron giant was weird, but it only took like 3 minutes.
AC taught me weird controls, don't think the platforming would be a huge issue
the game itself was not pulling me in
unlike solatorobo which I like instantly, funny since this one is the first one right
My gut told me the quality dropped in the last stage, but I agree with Liquid that it was just different. To me it was a jarring change and the fun was lost. The watery platforming was awkward and the robot felt like a different game.
All the rest was goofy fun
You really did it in 3 minutes in hardcore mode ?????????????? It took me almost 2 hours with save states lol.
According to the in game timer⦠yes.
beast
I fell once.
That is impressive! I wasn't able to judge the distance at all.
Huh. I was prepared for something awful with all the complaining. Really didnāt have any difficulty with it. lol.
Liquid Divide just showing us how much better at gaming they are than the rest of us.
For all the early complaining about it in this thread, inside the iron giant was mercifully short compared to the factory level.
I mean if people found mmz too unforgiving I guess normal platforming sections would be a force do be reconed with
I didn't mind the factory
The factory was just long and no save before the boss fight. I got really tired of that level.
It wasnāt hard either, just somewhat tedious.
The poles were hard to catch in midair because of the awful 3D perspective though .
My question is how did you know where the teleports will take you, or did you just tried everything in 3 mins?
can't you figure out the route, load it and do it one shot?
Yeah, you definitely can. At that point, for the teleporters, I did notice I appeared again where I started, and I had flashbacks to Neugir and didn't want to deal with it, so I checked a guide quickly. There's only like 4 of them though, so even trial and error probably would have taken me less than 10 minutes.
shooting the little worms before jumping is a good idea.
On Ys I did trial and error and died so many times that by the end I jsut oneshot the mirror labirynth
I mean you probably can, I just assume there's no point to try hard to do it quickly as there isn't achievement for it (as far as I know). Looking at the guide explains it. Took me like 15 mins to find the last teleporter.
15m is just a smidge of trial and error
I think that would be the point of the puzzle?
unless there is some way to tell before hand
yeah, that's not bad at all
I added this game to my list of to-try later when I have time
not that I know of, but I really didn't want to spend a bunch of timing messing around with teleporters.
I'm working my backlog right now, so I'll come back to this
I didn't understand why I made it to the last teleporter pad. I just made it by dumb luck.
I think you have like a 25% of doing that anyway. There are only 2 portals at each level, I think, and what... 2 levels with a choice? I don't exactly remember, but it's not like it's a big maze or anything.
Nah, last level is definitely more than 2 I think, like every teleporter on that level is wrong, and you need to climb the one at the top
That is still, pretty logical that it would be the one, so
i really like 9 ngl i think its one of the best but its been a while. i need to give 7 and 8 a replay tho
and i havent played 11 yet
of the classice mega mans, 11>8>7 in that order
the rest fall about in hte same place for me
yeah idk as someone who likes the nes ones a lot 9 is toward the top of that pack. but if u dont care for the 8bit ones in general i get why u wouldnt want a throwback to those lol
i thought 9 had lots of cool level gimmicks and pretty tight design around them, and a few pretty neat weapons (tho some boring/lame ones)
not bvecause of that
I tought the level gimicks were ass
and more instakills than the rest ofthe franchise
and classig mm has a LOT of those
I love the 8-bit aesthetic
fair @ instakills i guess lol
no need to guess, it is full of those and you know it
even if the rest of the franchise has those
idk i really like tornado man and galaxy mans stages, those gimmicks were really fun to me
9 and 10 seems to have more for some reason
I mean
they were not that memorable to me
might give it another playthough sometime later next month
it's all mm franchise time
and you think astec falcon was hard?
mm classic is full of assblasting
i mean aztec falcon was harder than i was expecting the game to be lol
it was more about expectations
ah I see
makes more sense lol
everybody was blasting it saying it's too hard and too tanky and stuff
i was expecting zero to be more in line with X difficulty wise and i think its definitely harder than at least the first 3 Xs which are the only ones I really go back to
yeah mmx-x3 are the best imo
yeah i dont even really care for x4
people like that oen a lot
I have no feelings for it
x3 is my all time fave of the X series
x2 is mine i think but 1 is close. 3 idk something is a little different. still really good but not quite the same heights
yeah people say that
I think x3 has longer stages in most cases
dunno if it was about that but I heard that one before
x2 is second place with x being third
but marverick hunter x might top x3
i dont like the music in x3 as much. i like that they went for slower guitar-based stuff but i dont think snes guitars work as well at slower tempos lol. the sample quality shows more the longer a note is held
i need to play maverick hunter
yeah we are pretty off topic lol. but yeah going on the list, i never had a psp
this guy figured it out in like 10 minutes... I don't see it taking much longer than this, honestly.

Furry Feature is the series to showcase numerous furry-centric games that don't fall under a more niche set of interests like some other series. In other words, some general furry fun!
Tail Concerto is a pretty-dang-good action-adventure game taking a number of pages from Mega Man Legends, that was released for the PS1 back in the day by CyberC...
he didn't look down ever and made it harder.
might be a bit controversial, but figuring out the puzzle is the objective
sometimes you gotta do a little work for it
You're not wrong. I just didn't want to bother with that at the time. It's not like the game is a puzzle game and I really cheated myself out of some great experience.
to each their own no problem š
Just started playing Tail Concerto for the first time and this game is frickin' adorable lol Love the mid 90's anime cutscenes and voice acting too.
