Ok, so, my E6 Plus will not boot into android, i cant seem to get it to boot into "Loader" or other flashing modes but it will boot into linux on the stock SD card.

I had a similar problem, I tried different solutions and firmware, including formatting EMMC but I still couldn't solve this problem.

In the end, I sent the device back under warranty, maybe they received it and were able to figure out what the reason was.

Ok i feel kinda stupid after trying for a while now but i'm having issues installing cHAos ony my E6 Plus. Not sure if i have the new or old display variant so i tried both images. I flashed the latest prerelease .img using balena Etcher using a USB 3.0 and a 2.0 port. Every time i just have a black screen on my device :/ can anyone help me out a little bit? 😅 i used the SD card that came with the device for my setup. Can this be an issue or did i just mess up somewhere else?

There is no new or old display on E6 PLUS, only on E6. Use raspberry pi image to write the image and try a different sd card as well.

I think the only indicator if you want to know if your E6 has a new or old screen is the date of purchase, you have to look if you bought it before March (after March = new screen)

I also don't have wifi even if I connect an ethernet cable via a usb C adapter (in android). However, you are supposed to be able to share your PC's connection via adb using gnirehtet (reverse tethering)

Simply cut the long vertical sections with scissors as appropriate.

The difference in color is due to the Anti Reflective Film on the E6 plus.

1 don’t break the speaker solder wires when you open it. Very very cheap and weak and now I have to solder them again to get the sound to work.

I have one of the e6 plus handheld later revisions that includes 5ghz WiFi.

Here are my thoughts on available android firmwares:

32 bit os has compatibility issues. Don’t use. Only use 64 bit.

64 bit options
Android 11 - 0628 - works great. Wi-Fi works. No play store. Use aurora as a workaround, but a lot of Android games rely on playstore authentication. Huge gap of available Android games that could work with playstore. About 300-400mb more ram available.
Use this build if you don’t care about Android games. Use obtanium to help keep apps up to date. Home button mapped as escape button which is annoying.

Android 11 - 0912 64 bit build
Use this build if you want the google playstore and especially if you have one of the 5 gigs WiFi models. There was a build that added the playstore between 0624 and 0912 but it was janky and weird. The 0912 works as a normal Google play store build without registering. Home button still mapped to escape for some reason and sometimes is seen as 2 controllers when mapping buttons.
Also, 32 gig on board storage limits Android games. Be sure to to enable developer settings and turn on “force allow apps on external.” You still have to move apps one by one. I prefer Android 13’s ability to let you install an sd card as a merged internal storage extension so Android thinks it’s one big one.

Android13 - (ported from the x55) has builds for Google play store and no Google playstore. This build correctly maps the home button, and seems snappy, but 5ghz WiFi doesn’t work for me on either build. Hoping we can get a new Android 13 build with the WiFi fix from 0912 build.

Potential in the future-
GammaOS is getting ported right now to x55 with the same chipset. A port of that would be great!

Linux/jelos builds
A port of the x55 jelos build called chaos was made to work with our e6 plus. Not as strong emulation wise as the android counterpart but works out of the box. There is some chargin/battery display issue

make a new one called the e6 pro.

• release it in the black and red model
  -release it with 3 gig ram
• release it at the $75/$80 usd price point.
• release with a normal dpad
• release with menu button mapped to home instead of escape
• install with either atv launcher or daijisho preinstalled
  -have retroarch already setup
  -android 13 64 bit worth every already setup so when someone wants to expand with sd, it won’t break initial setup
• have apks already installed and setup
  -turn down the led backlight or make the plastic thicker
  -swap the right side buttons and joystick. Buttons on top

Lots of feedback from others is that they love the ergonomics, no Android device in this price point with a dpad and screen size which is ripe for sales, hate the dpad, Android performs better for some emulators for better than jelos, and setup is annoying a bit.

With some tinkering, this plays almost all n64 and Dreamcast better than anything out there under $100. There is a market for it

I've said "kinda useless" not literally useless. I have an Orange Pi 3B, with 8gb of ram and felt no performance difference from E6 plus in the stuff that I've tested so far, PS2 and Gamecube emulation is exactly same performance... My point is that stuff you can run with this processor in few cases will require more than 2gb ram

As someone actively watching this thread I have to say they've come a long way on the software side of their devices. You can't expect that much with the smaller and newer brands like these but imo they are improving and that is because of some of the suggestions of the people here so don't discount them not taking suggestions.

But GameMT’s previous devices are like a quarter as powerful as this one, and the RK3588S is rarely used on these devices despite having released like 2 years ago so the price might be higher to offset this.

The other GameMT devices used commonly used hardware, the RK3326 is everywhere in this community and the RK3566 has been floating around this space for 2 years now, and the VT569 appears to be a full package provided by some veteran Chinese bootlegging companies, so it was probably easy for him to use.

yeah he pretty much confirmed that was the case with the E6. the original version was RK3128 based & he wasn't happy with it so had it redone with RK3326 by a different company. & it's obvious the company that did the hardware/software for the RK3326 version was the same one that did the D007, the PCB codes are even the same

He ported AmberElec to D007 and someone said me to go after him, so he teached me how to extract the dtb file and with that he started porting AmberElec. Just got the E6 plus and it plays Xbox gamepass and remote play great. Unfortunately it uses Nintendo type controls so a/b and x/y are swapped without a way of changing them. Still a great device to play my Xbox remote for around the $60 price point.

Moonlight also plays perfectly with the option of swapping the controls.. 👍

Great device and very underrated. I don't see another device that compares at this price point with all the android and touchscreen functionality

Buttons themselves feel good. A little bit more travel/squishy than id like but nothing too bad. The dpad on the other hand is probably the biggest flaw but with that being said.. the more I use the device the less errors im getting with it. I guess muscle memory and adapting to it over time it helps.

Also.. the next comparable device would be the powkiddy x55 with android installed and you'll get no touchscreen, powkiddy x28, or the rg556. Their price point is close to double to triple. For what this offers, I'm very content.

I'm sure there are other options but for a 16:9 screen android device to play xcloud/gamepass.. this model has a lot of value.

Ping on the xcloud app is about 4-8 on the adapter . While 5g is about 6-15 on my network setup. I don't have a fancy or top of the line so I doubt thats the best performance it can do but I don't notice issues either on the adapter or 5g playing.

e5 plus was supposed to be a cheaper version, but actually is more expensive than e6 plus 😛

Still waiting on a mainlined definintions dtsi for the e6plus. Had that emerged I might be tempted by the e5plus

as it stands it's just another random rk3566 without pin/control definitions; and I have plenty of mostly well understood rk3566 with mainlined dtsi's now.
