So joycon drifter. You can replace stock joycons with any switch joycons. You can tear down one or you can order them just as loose sticks.

If you have a card tf2 won’t detect try formatting it differently (another app and file type) if that doesn’t work you may not have a compatible card. Lexar cards seemed to not cooperate.

I have seen that kind of incompatibility in other handhelds as well. Some even seem to prefer cheap cards before branded ones. I am personally using a 64GB Sandisk for the OS and a cheap 128GB card (XrayDisk) from an Aliexpress promo that I had lying around

what had happened is that while removing one of the ribbon cables after flipping the clamps up and gently pulling with my plastic tweezers one of the glass(?) plates that terminate the ribbon cable debonded

Did anyone have any luck with using PortMaster ports?

Out of the box, none of the ports I've tried worked. At all. And running PortMaster (stock version on card being 2.8 I believe) would simply show a message about the lack of an Internet connection.

Downloaded the latest "Install.Full.PortMaster.sh" from the program's website, went into the file manager and executed the script.

Stock PortMaster must have been updated (but now doesn't boot at all, even to show the message about wi-fi not being detected) and some libraries must have been installed, since now I managed to run Cave Story (NXEngine-evo) and it's working perfectly, but that's my only success.

OpenTyrian now boots into the main menu, but going into the options or starting a new game crashes it.

Stardew Valley seems to be loading something, but crashes back to EmulationStation before anything gets displayed on the screen.

Anything I can do about this or not really?

I use Skraper (https://www.skraper.net/) for images and videos. Went with "3 image mix" and optimized videos. So I get to see the game box art, screenshot and logo and after a few seconds it goes to a gameplay video.

Ah, fair enough. The only arcade games I've tried so far were Neo Geo ones and from what I've played (Metal Slug, The Last Blade 2 and Puzzle Bobble 2) they were all full speed. Then again Neo Geo probably isn't that hard to emulate resource-wise, since I could do it under DOS on some truly ancient computers in the past, lol.

yes. that's part of how quickmode works. It's also why I don't use it because I don't like auto save and load states

If you don't like auto save and auto load, you can turn that off globally which would mean the unit would boot into the game but not autoload a savestate

i'm a quick mode fan. I have the power button set to [switch power button tap to off] enabled. this way if i'm ever disturbed i just tap the power button and it saves/exits. Then it resumes for me upon reboot. if i ever get a save state on something i exited like an arcade game i want to start from scratch i just hotkey+B

if i ever want to 'sleep' the device it's actually just a poweroff for me instead, otherwise it's a quick hotkey+A to pause emulation

with powersaver on and allowing that to take place in retroarch it will just go blank (as my screensaver) with inactivity which is just like turning off the display for me if i leave it paused too long.

I use standalone emulators for n64 and ppsspp so that's another reason why I don't use quickmode since it's retroarch dependent

you can use WiFi (if you have an otg adapter and compatible wifi dongle) to update ArkOS after that flash too to be on a newer version as well.

I wouldn't flash stock card though. I would set it aside and flash a 16/32/64gb card in it's place.

that way you always have a fallback handy as well as not leveraging a lesser card for your primary OS/Settings daily use.

At this point it's not impossible just not in the realm of my possiblity without doing a lump of reading/trial and error. If we do that we might as well make our own image too with our files on it. I need to clarify here @here , I actually have two consoie , and not a console and consoie , i apologize , both had different firmwares from eachother, black had r36s firmware , the white has r35s boot screen, other than that , internally they are both V12 models

white model has alot of light leak, one lower left of case under teh screen , and either side of the bezel of the screen theres an evident spacing between the bezel and housing, can be fixed if you are willing to open yourself, however I will likely be dying this white model another colour eventually and should see minimal leakage

Interference be ause speaker isnt properly shielded , id start with tinfoil around the speaker taped down for a DIY aproach before looking at tin , try wrap the whomle back of the speaker , ill do it also just now since i have both open

this is technically my 4th retro handheld. I started with a PocketGo, then got the PocketGoV2, I then got the R35S and a day later the R36S was avail and i switched to it. I always looked at Anbernic and bigger high end ones but never pulled the trigger. It's always the cheaper ones that catch my eye.

I suppose i have the DataFrog SF2000 too, it came the same time as my R35S but i didn't get it for me i got it with the idea of gifting it. Still have it though.

I got a Steam Deck but returned it. It had screen bleed and they wouldn't repair/replace it. I loved how everything just worked on it. I didn't love the pricetag and the size of it. I always felt like i was carrying around a crystal that couldn't be dropped. I've really considered getting an OLED one now that they've done new models.

I tested the Wifi dongles with an OTG cable to see if increasing the distance from the console reduced the interference it causes to the speaker. It is much better now but it still makes a bit of noise, but if you grab the cable the noise is gone completely

I already mentioned that there is a listing for a cheap dongle that has an EUS and works in the Ali 3 items for 6 bucks section. I even bought one to check if it really was compatible and it did indeed pick up my network that was already configured for the tplink

Be aware that the rk3326 battery life goes to crap with usb wifi. If you do an internal mod, best to have a good way to physically turn that chip off when not needed if possible

So basically the firstboot.sh doesn't technically run on firstboot. It's coded to run on everyboot but when expandtoexfat.sh is called it deletes firstboot.sh so it won't run again on consecutive boots after the script has run.

almost like it reads the sd cards serial number or something and writes it somewhere to the os im really not sure ,i thought making a 1-1 clone would always work

in theory i would install ark , put our files, update it over wifi make a clone, u0pload it for everyone and we would be done, but it just doesnt post on a fresh sd card when flashed over

PS. Loving my R36S so far, halfway done with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Dreamcast emulation isn't half bad either, depends on the title, but Soul Calibur (GDI format, PAL version) is almost full speed.

With a new image, my process is to flash the image with usb it to a 8gb sd card, rename the firstboot.sh file, boot the image, run the updates, remove wifi credentials if wifi was used, rename the firstboot.sh back to this, then do a clean shutdown, then save the image of the sd card.

I'll send you a script I use for new images. All you'll have to do is rename the firstboot.sh file to firstboot.sh.disable then boot the image and add you wifi creds and it handles the rest of the updates and shuts down the unit afterwards and then you can juse use usb it to pull the image

Here's the script. Again, make sure the firstboot.sh file is renamed to firstboot.sh.disable in the boot partition. Set your wifi creds, enable remote services, then copy this script to the /home/ark folder, make it executable chmod 777 Update.sh, then run it with ./Update.sh and let it do its thing.

@grave heart and I just talked through a hardmod for the FN button since going through the software so far hasn't been successful. Will keep everyone posted with mod updates. I got my silent switches today so i'm looking at:

a. silent R1&2 and silent L1&2
b. vibe motor for R36S
c. speaker wire shielding for possible wifi noise fix
d. FN working as hotkey

8GB is not large enough for regular use. Just for development for creating the initial image

16GB is the recommended minium for the OS

for regular gaming use

im not sure where im going with these parts, am i loading the sd card then putting in wifi like normal, also , if i add the update.sh to home/ark how does one run chmod 777 Update.sh is it in cmd console on the device its self , sorry mate, I really havnt delved this far with any coding languages

completed, though I did this on a 32gb card, Im likely going to have to wait till sunday to make it the proper size and compress to .xz but looks like we have a finished product for R36S, so im guna say , a very possible release date of 10th dec for the r36s r35s community
