You are in external, which is a link to the second card
You need to go to internal
Sadly usually means it doesn't like the SD card
I will try another sd card, ty again
I have a very abused 8gb card I use for testing that can take 3 reboots to get it to mount
Are there any settings for this ?
No? Go up a level and there is a different folder
I am using Ubuntu with a microSD card reader two drive mount one jelos and another is storage
I put roms n bios in roms folder but it didn't work
Dude look at the games-INTERNAL folder
Yeah but it's locked and cannot copy anything there
you showed a picture of games-external.
extra boot time with second sd is due to .. something waiting for 2 minutes on boot. don't see what yet
Do we need to use two sdcard? One for roms and another for system?
no.
Then why roms are not loading π«
I can only put files inside the storage/roms folder
I can't copy in a good folder π€£ it's locked
Let me show you
if you are not able to copy into games-internal then you need nautilus-admin and to open the folder as admin.
you can also use a second sd card and put them there in a roms folder, the only side effect is boot is taking a couple extra minutes
Ohh I believe I can't copy paste folders
I have to copy files and put them inside the roms folder
Let's see if this works or not
Now it's working π
how can you ssh to the device, thru otg port?
I'm using one of these, through otg port
could also enable the samba server
When I try to change shaders in md I had an screen frozen
Is it possible to map the g button to use to open the emu menu?
Thanks for your work guys!
g + y
it's using the standard jelos mappings, but you can override them too i believe
ty. you have any issues saving retro configs? it seems to say that its save but when i close and open it again the settings are reverted, tho not all of them? its weird
Hmm nvm it must just not like the button i was assigning to the hot key, the rest of the changes stayed configred
Hello, what should the game partition be called in case it is a single micro SD?
Thanks
What do we have to do to use only one SD?
Psp game running at very low fps 14-15fps example tekken 6 but in stock it gives constant 30fps
stock applied a lot of romhacks especially to ppsspp
by going to jelos you lose all the preapplied stuff but get the ability to customize it yourself
with jelos? I just booted it up after writing the image. Let it initialize etc, went to Settings and hit "Create games directory" and then copied all the games/bios to /storage/roms and it seemed to just work for single sd card
i changed a few of the graphics settings to make it run at 30fps, and they probably enabled a 30fps cheat to get it to run full speed
I saw you pr for r36s panel. is someone working on porting jelos for this device?
not yet. but i had the initialization sequence and went ahead and added it
thanks. I'm asking because if someone else has already started or is willing to help, we can collaborate rather than working in parallel towards the same goal.
it would probably not be that difficult, except that wonky otg giving some headache
that was the idea behind adding the panel driver for people, anyone who decides to work on it can simply list their panel compatible to be "gameconsole,r36s", "sitronix,st7703"
can you, please, share the git repo of the kernel you used for rk3326?
it's built from scratch, it's mainline linux
so 6.8-rc1 ?
6.7
i'll do some testing on bumping the gpu clocks on the dtb
aaand crashes at 480 lol
Sorry guys, silly question. I am trying to add roms to Jelos and obvs my PC doesnt see the partition. I have WinSCP and connected the XU10 via the OTG port and a USB C cable but thats where I get stuck
the otg is in host mode, it's not going to connect as a data port
easiest to just setup wifi via otg
for that I need a wifi dongle yeah ?
connecting to the router might also work, though I havnt had to do that on any device personally
so I need a usb C wifi dongle thingy
regular wifi dongle and usb a -> c adapter
i think i paid 4 dollars for mine lol
yeah a usb -> eth would work too
Hi everyone That's weird, after copying my roms from my rgb30 sd to "internal" using the jelos file manager, when I try to boot one card only I end up booting at that screen. Anyone have any idea?
OK thanks guys
is that your emulationstation crashing maybe
Weird since I only touched the internal rom directory
could be you bringing over the gameslist dbs and it freaking out
Hmm I think I'm stuck there damn... Transferring all this internally took me over 5 hours
I should have booted from time to time to check before getting on xfering rampage π€£
@gritty plume I manage to mount the card partition on my rgb30, is there any extraneous files I can delete to repair the booting process? Like gamelist dbs you talked about?
Edit: Nevermind, I got it by deleting every gamelist.db and it worked. Thanks for pointing it out @gritty plume
great, glad it worked
Can you share that settings I changed a few settings but didn't work
i was just testing on the training mode, noticing now that there's some real chunky courses in there too but i have it set to
frameskip off,
skip buffer effects
skip gpu readbacks
lazy texture caching
low bezier curves
buffer commands 2
hardware transform
software skinning
upscale off
anisotropic filtering off
... though i also forgot i'm on a different build right now lol
also enable cheats and grab the 30fps cheat for tekken 6
Hmm this setting gives 20fps constant
After waking up from sleep wifi didn't work and I had to restart the console every time this bug ? Is anyone else facing the same ?
yeah there seems to be an issue where wake from sleep doesn't wake up the otg regulator
i have it set to always on so not sure why
It takes me about 50 seconds to start the console and sometimes I get an error and I have to restart it, does the same happen to you?
do you mean the uuid failed to mount error?
the xu10's stock sd card voltage was set too high, which is still in spec of what sd cards read but it causes issues with a number of types of cards. i have moved the regulator down to a more normal range and no longer see that issue on my dev builds even with my crappo cards
so that should be fixed in the next release
I noticed one thing in stock fps is 20 in tekken but game play is smooth where is jelos. I also get 20fps but game play is not smooth
frameskip and frame hacks
I can confirm that my 512GB and 400GB microSD cards work with JELOS. Neither of these cards would work (mount) with OFW/AmberElec no matter what I tried. I think your change in the regulator really helped me out.
Manage to run game smooth at least playable but sound is lagging
The problem with Tekken is its 60fps target for low end chips
But yeah sound is the most annoying thing about not running 100%
having FUN
Yeah but with stock os its running smoothly with sound I checked and didn't find any cheat for the game in stock OS i don't know how they are using ppsp for running games smoothly
I'm wondering the same thing, even god of war Ghost of Sparta was happening to me. without jerks or strange things, now it runs at 9fps
Maybe gpu n cpu over clock in stock os
CPU is the same, memory is slower on stock but GPU is higher. We are looking at all of those ATM for next release
But that would only be like 15% perf difference, like I said they made a bunch of hacks and included other types of emulator runtimes to get things to work.
God of war runs because it looks like garbage lol
And has frame skip at like 2
Yeah god of war without sky xD
How do I do that?
settings -> system -> enable cheats, then go to cheats -> 30 fps (fixed)
Thanks!
Greetings! Does anyone know where I can find an image of the XU10 microsd but without the games?
You mean stock? AmberElec? JELOS?
stock
But I managed to resurrect the microsd and clone it, it is no longer necessary.

jeje, thanks.
I have games with a gamelist.xml. How do I convert the file to the gamelist.db that the xu10 uses?
updated to amberelec, and issue resolved
So whats do people feel is the best OS to put on these devices ?
i hear the next release of jelos will be pretty good
I hope so ππ»
Is there a battery charger % issue?
What issue are you seeing, it's the default discharge curve in this release. In general these devices don't have super accurate battery meters
The stock xu10 firmware lists 0% battery as way below the shut down voltage
I tweaked it to be more accurate next release
Sometimes it's showing less % after restart % goes up
It's just a guess based on the battery voltage and will start based on initial voltage at boot
It happens sometimes not always
Hi i was able to get jelos running on a new sd card on my XU10 but now im having trouble figuring out how to add the roms? everywhere i look says i should be seeing a roms folder of some sort but i dont. i've been following the instructions here: https://jelos.org/play/add-games/#storage-modes
side note, my device came with no card so i have no point of refference and this is my first hand held so im super new to all of this
im assuming the easy fix is the get another sd card for the second slot but im wondering if i can have it all on one card?
you can, the second partition on the main sd card is ext4 so you either have to access it via linux, or connect a wifi usb dongle and transfer it via scp or samba
it is located in /games-internal/roms/ if you access the storage partition, /roms/ should symlink there too
if you add a second card, you just format it exfat and then boot up jelos (there is a 2 minute boot delay bug right now that is fixed in the next release) and select the option to create rom folders
then you turn off the device, plug it into windows and copy the roms over
i ended up finding a second sd card so im trying it out but i did notice the lag
yeah we were able to find out there was an issue with running the udev-settle service caused it to loop waiting on sdio until it timed out, so it will be annoying until next release
im on a windows comp so i dont think theres an easy way for me to access the second partition
i use virtualbox and loaded ubuntu on it
admittedly, a lot of overhead if you are only trying to access ext4 partitions
so best course is usually connect your device to wifi or second sd card
yeah im gonna try the second SD card since i do have one on hand lol when i started going down this rabbit hole this morning i didnt know we had a second one and was hoping there was some work around
side note, is there a reason my battery shows at 0%?
So is there some sort of secret to adding the games to the second SD card? I tried dragging and dropping but it doesn't seem to be working
I'm able to see the list of games but when I click in I get this screen
the initial release has a very conservative battery meter, where 3.57v is 0%
i tweaked that in the next release
no worries, just wanted to make sure it wast an issue with my device
should be able to see it climb back up fairly quickly plugged in
the second sd should just have a folder called roms, and then all your system names in there
i am not sure why that screen is happening though
yeah just tried a different rom and same thing
so i followed the steps to add roms to the second sd card and ended up with a bunch of folders on that card. I then copied this one rom over to the gb folder.
so all it has is the one rom
And it shows up on the list
im wondering if theres something else missing?
it happened on the gb rom and the gbc rom if that helps
Ok just tried a GBA ROM and it seems to have booted after a ton of time but is now stuck on this screen
Anyone know the password when WINSCP on to JELOS
ah yeah, found it, thanks
which gba pokemon rom is this
sapphire seemed to boot up fine for me, though i am on main sd (using mgba core)
im not sure what you mean by core but this one was pokemon emerald
i tried crystal and yellow as well
how can i see what core is being used?
i found the cores
Is there a way to scrape everything on jelous, can only scrape one at a time - sorted it now
do i need to add anything to the bios? all my folders on the sd card with the games are empty right now accept for gb, gbc, and gba where i copied over the roms
i believe you should load all your bios files into the roms/bios folder, yes
but i think for gba it was optional
maybe pokemon needs it
should be in settings -> scraper, oh you edited haha
yeah, needed to login to screenscrape first and its done it but I am thinking it maybe easier to do this on my pc then move over to the sd card
@gritty plume Thank You for JELOS on the MagicX XU10! Did you port over all the stand-alone emulators over to JELOS? I found that Conker's Bad Fur Day is surprisingly playable on this Handheld with the UX10's stand-alone emulator for N64.
It doesn't have retrorun but does have a number of retorarch cores and mupen64plus
Ok so I added the bios to the bios file and I'm still having the same issue. Do the bios need to be on the SD card where jelos is as well?
Or in the respective folders with the roms?
Hello, first time in the discord, I got a MagicX XU10, but accidentally deleted the code that comes in the SD card. Does anyone know where I can upload the code to the SD card?
Goto settings and system setting there is root password change it and use jt
If you're using Linux then copy paste your games files inside /storage/internal-games/roms/{rom folder}
Same for ftp
You cannot copy paste folders you have to copy rom files and paste inside that particular rom folder in case of Linux
And the same goes with bios /storage/internal-games/roms/bios/
If you're using a single sdcard
This is the only way
im using 2 sd cards right now but i dont have a linux comp
Ok so your using two sdcard
ive been able to get pokemon fired red running tho this morning!
i need to try the other roms out still
question, is there a way to exit the game and go back to the main screen?
is that something i need to configure?
If you want a stock rom download from here https://github.com/MagicXHandheld/XU10
i havent figured this out either, there is probably a setting for it though
Press both of the joy sticks buttons together
Retroarch screen will open from there u can close the game
hmmm this didnt work for me
In case of pspps/drastic games u have to press g button then you can close it
the g button does nothing as well
Gba game na?
Try again it always works for me
Retroarch game will not close with g button
i think i might have switched the core when i was messing with it last night, im assuming changing the emulator could mess with how it exits out?
I don't know but I just tried Pokemon fired red and close with the same method I just said above and it works perfectly
It's a game issue I guess
You can configure retroarch settings
Goto tools then select retroarch 64
Then goto settings ->input-> hotkeys
hmm whats weird also is the roms runs fine on my emulator on my pc so im wondering if theres something else i might be missing? or a configuration i havent set up?
using the second sd card the bios folder is the only place i need to add the bios too right? and then the roms go in their respective folder?
Yes
Correct
uhg ok then idk what im doing wrong. I have vba on my pc and all the roms run fine there.....
Wait let me share you all bios
plz and ty
ok
Wait linko is not working
i was able to download >.>
still getting the white screen of death
wait
its like SUPER slowly loading the nintendo gameboy screen now
or maybe its stuck
for the games a generic one, for jelos a sandisk
g button on the side + start x 2
the g button is the hotkey button and there's a lot of hotkey commands like g + r1 = save state and g + l1 = load state, or g + y = open retroarch menu
Can't we use just g to close ?
and how would you do any other hotkey with that
π₯²π₯²π₯²
i'm sorry not sure what is going on with yours
wait its doing that same ultra slow load
Like stock
its ok i appreciate the support
If possible try with a single sdcard install virtual box or vmareware and then install Ubuntu in it
Or buy a wifi dongle with type c converter
i have a wifi dongle coming in tomorrow to try that
Ok then try with that and use a single sdcard only
you can also copy games over with your second sd card to the other card
in the file manager
on teh device itself
Yeah you try the above method a little painful but should work π
make sure your governors are set to performance too
how do i do this?
hmmm i'll try this as well
in system under hardware /performance, as well as in the advanced options for the console
i had issues launching fire red in gbsp and mednafen but the rest worked fine
Why don't you set performance mode by default in the next release
technically it should already in per game, but it doesn't hurt to check
at least for the heavier emulators
Ok
Thanks a lot!!!
Hoping someone can help with this: having some issues charging! Currently running JELOS. When I plug it in, the device boots up, charging icon doesn't appear. Then, I can get the charging icon to turn on for about 2-3 seconds by clicking the power button once to turn the screen off and one click again to to turn it back on. Then, the icon will be charging but it will go away.
I've left it charging for multiple hours from the "off" state and it hasn't charged at all. I'll try leaving it overnight tonight plugged in while already on, and even though there's no indicator we'll see.
I also tried using a portable battery that I use to charge my X55 (which shows charging indicator using it), and that didn't seem to visibly charge it.
This never happened to me but sometimes it shows zero but after restart it shows correct value
Check with stock os if the same behaviour is found then there might be some charging port
Issues
just because the indicator displays some number doesn't mean that's the charge level of the battery
can you leave it on / play games for a while?
you guys are putting some hard work on this, it's great.
I guess i'll stuck with amberlec right now, don't know if i need Jelos for my usage.
It won't charge when off and you need to wait a bit for the charging icon to show up because it's on a slow poll timer
Your Emulation station is crashing, possibly due to bad game list files in your roms folder
Is there any log which I can read?
Yeah but I don't remember the exact name right now something like es_Log and es_err
Hello, just asking, is it possible to add custom games/saves (like pokemon sacred gold, uranium, etc.) on our device, if yes how can i do it? I've never added game on my device, a friend of mine did it for me so i don't know how to procede myself and i'd like to learn, thx for your answers !!
Update: I charged it overnight after having plugged it in WHILE it was on, and it seems to have charged! Up to 85% after 7+ hours haha. If I have issues later I'll post again but otherwise seems it's good!
You using a cable that works on other devices? I feel like mine charges to 100% in like 30 minutes lol but I will say the cable that my device came with seems to be pretty flaky and didn't really charge or was very intermittent in its connection
Okay I mean good question! I'll try that later haha. I've heard they are finicky with voltage / usbA/c stuff so I was only trying the one that came with it
Yeah definitely try a different cable, the one mine came with seems to be... shitty lol
Hello, where can I get the 64 GB stock image?
Is it downloaded via torrent?
@gritty plume tank very much
Sorry I don't understand much, how do I get it down from there? How do I save it to the SD later? thanks in advance
it's an image, you write it using an image writing program like balena etcher
Question: With JelOS, is there a way to use two microSD cards with roms on both of them are accessible in ES, or do all the roms have to be on one card? I tried having roms on both cards, but only the ones on the second card were being read.
Yes, you can have merged storage but you need to format the second SD card as ext4 too
Hey everyone, the new version of JELOS with a number of fixes and improvements is out now: https://github.com/JustEnoughLinuxOS/distribution/releases/tag/20240201

Wooo
Hi. After updating my roms were put in a games-internal.backup folder. It would be okay to just delete the new games-internal folder and renaming the backup?
you could just copy the console folders into roms and make sure your gamelist db files don't cause any issues
Someone kind soul needs to create a image with Jelos and all the games added with snapshots π
One thing I'm experiencing with the new release:
It seems like A and B are flipped now? Also, when I back out of the system settings the whole device freezes, then the screen goes black for a few seconds and it brings me back to the main menu (as it should, just with a weird freeze and delay)
i always had them mapped standard snes style in this release, since the previous. if you wanna flip them there's an emulationstation setting for it
i do see system settings takes a bit of time sometimes but i believe that's from what i can tell a universal thing. i haven't seen it blank out though
the setting in emulationstation is "switch a&b buttons in emulationstation" under ui settings, you can also just go into controller settings and fully rebind all keys
Thanks for upgrade β€οΈ
i'm gonna double check the dts to see controller maps
yeah no controls that changed since previous release that i can find
Maybe one of you can help with this!
I'm not sure why, but when I'm launching games (in this case gba), they launch to a white screen and launch at approximately 0.1 frames per second. It'll load the "Nintendo" logo after about 10 seconds or so.
BUT... if I launch it directly from retroarch there's no issue, game launches properly at an appropriate framerate.
If I change the core to a non-retroarch core it runs fine as well, so I'm really not sure why this is happening
could be some emulationstation config option for that emulator
when you boot it via emulationstation those settings get pushed into retroarch when loading
Hmm weird. I'll probably just reflash and change to a dual sd card setup while I do since you fixed the boot times
Hmmm. Re-flashed my main SD card, loaded my roms onto a secondary card. Still experiencing this. I re-loaded good versions of the bios files just to see if that was my issue.
To re-clarify what I am experiencing:
If I launch something (happens with all consoles, but Ill use GBA as an example), the game loads to a white screen, running at less than 1 fps. After 10+ seconds the Nintendo logo slowly fades in, followed by a 1 frame very few seconds loading of the "Gameboy" logo.
If i go into tools --> Retroarch and launch the game from "history" in there, it runs perfectly with no issues.
This is with a fresh flash of the new JELOS release, so I'm not sure what to really do about it at this point.
Same happened with me
What is a for you now, South or east
I guess in terms of weird bugs this is not too bad even though I have no idea why
i did a fresh flash on a different sd card and it's behaving how i expect at default, a is east, b is south. gotta check the sdl bindings too
retroarch is the same, the only one i think is flipped is sdl in gamecontrollerdb however that's always been that way
sdl changes will go into next release along with mupen64 performance config and button tweaks there too
Delay and black screen for a few seconds when back from system setting for some unknown reason before update I was not able to change root the password
@gritty plume I really appreciate your work, you are doing a good job. I'm sorry that I don't have the necessary knowledge to contribute. I hope that one day Jelos will surpass the performance of the original FW.
sure thing, it's actually pretty much good on that front now - the only real differences would be if more cores were added later like retrorun. the stock fw is just a butchered old version of amberelec
Loving JelOS. Feature-wise, it's way way better than OFW or Amber.Elec. Does anybody know which emulator and config setup should be used for N64 and dreamcast. Can't seem to get those to run at an agreeable performance.
mupen64plus-sa and flycast2021
dreamcast will still require tweaking and be spotty, only way to squeeze more perf is to get retrorun cores running
Hi Oendaril, thx for maintaining the xu10! After last update I still have that screen lockup on "sleep". Is there anything I can do? No biggie, since I mostly turn it off after use but sometimes I press it by accident I'm afraid resetting too often might stress the sd card. Other than that awesome work you're doing!π
You can try using freeze instead of mem sleep
But I both had issues with resume when I used amberelec and I have not been able to really reproduce it well
hand the same problem. for me the bug was related to the use of a custom theme. just reflashed the os to fix it
For me it was memory issues remove some files its start working..I don't know if this bug or it expected behaviour
Hmm, it's a fresh install and my cards have plenty of free space.π€
Is there a performance boost with JelOS vs stock fw?
And what is the liklihood of ArkOS being adapted for this device?
Sorry, I just picked one of these up and I was wondering about the current state of cfw
Yes please, Need some news about CFW coz i don t know if i want an ux10 or a r36s
I was in exactly the same predicament. In the end i went for the XU10 due to the ergonomics and what is said to be slightly better quality and feel. This was despite the rg36s looking cooler, having a "better" screen and also more customisability
xu10 without any doubt
Im happy to wait for cfw if it means unlocking more potential with the device
No I believe stock os has more performance than jelos
Hi Anyone know the unlock code ? my child seems to have put it in enforcement mode and i need the code to get out. think I saw it when you pressed g on the main screen
today I bought an XU10 for 46 euros on Aliexpress today
from cutelivingstore, what you think about this store?
bought an sf2000 from them, received it as expected
it's the one I got my R36S from, my XU10 came today... it doesn't boots properly and I ran out of ideas what to do at this point
isn't it fun how the stock OS ain't booting on the damn thing, but JelOS does
so crappy sd
not sure if the SD is really at fault here, I'm just glad the device in itself seems to work properly, the buttons are so much better than on the R36S
yes, because i fixed their wrong sd card voltages
not huge but with the oc option enabled the cpu is at 1.416ghz vs 1.296ghz, gpu is stock 560mhz vs 520mhz, and ram is 924mhz instead of i think 786
what about the 1.6ghz cpu and 2600mhz ram?
not actually true
does the 2nd SD slot not work on JelOS yet?
it works fine now
r36s has the same specs, generally
then I am doing something wrong
if you want to use the 2nd for storage, format it as exfat and either make a roms folder and system folder then copy them in or tell jelos to create the games folders for you
Okay cool to hear, tyvm. New to these types of handhelds, but its cool to see the work you do on cfw π
had to wipe the card a few times for some reason until JelOS did it's magic, but now it works
different drivers, kernel
i am not a pro at portmaster stuff but the things that did not work were generally due to those things
or paths in the scripts
there Are some quick links to Hardware Mod Guides? (or some community FAQ) I remember seeing a mod for the DPAD, but I can't find it
why would you mod the D-Pad? feels fine to me, way better than expected tbh, buttons on this thing are really decent
I seem to remember that I have heard in a review that the DPAD tend to get stuck for a few seconds when you press some diagonals quickly
you can mod it to fix it if it happens #1099465777825972347 message
but I really wonder why it handles N64 games so much worse than the r36s, not that there everything runs perfect, but certainly better
btw anyone tried opening it up and switching the A/B, X/Y buttons?
It's driving me mad

if it wouldn't be past midnight I would fix this abomination right now, but the likelihood of me loosing some screws is to high
I've seen more people praising it than bashing it
it drove me mad for a while, because the stock OS wasn't working at all... but this server mentioning that JelOS was available was the rescue
I'm still waiting for mine π¦
the r36s has a nicer screen and handles N64 games better, but aside from that I'm totally in favor of the XU10 and swapping the buttons is going to fix this insanity
Went for it over ther R36s
yeah the screen and the cool transparent shells were something that were keeping me on the R36s
XU10 won in the end
well, I think as an out of the box experience the r36s is better for many people, but now that JelOS is on the XU10, I can't really say there is much of a downside and the overall built quality feels just better
Im curious - why does the R36s handle n64 better despite the XU10 being clocked higher?
and that with 5bucks of a price difference
I think the higher clock speed isn't even real? Oendaril said something above about JelOS upping it compared to the stock OS
yeah, it was really difficult to turn down that screen because it is really nice
oh
huh interesting
Im wondering if there is the possibility to swap the R36s screen into the XU10
damn
custom adapter?
probably not even worth it at that price point though
adapter ain't fixing the fact that those laminated screens ain't that easily switched as a GBA screen
ehh, ain't going to risk it, probably will let both the r36s and XU10 let collect some dusk anyway
Im not all that clued up with the GB form factor devices, just wanted something decent for upto PS1 emu. What is considered to be the most powerful GB form factor device with joysticks?
I'm really looking forward to the rgb30... ordered that one days before the XU10 and it's still not here
for up to PS1 the XU10 is plenty tho
but it's a bit of a shame that the XU10 has no built in WiFi
not that the r36s has, but given how I now have JelOS on it I kinda wish I could just switch it on and download all the boxart
yeah, not that I ever going to find my wifi dongle again... haven't seen that thing since 5 years, probably threw it
not that I'm even sure that it would work given how old it was
yeah, will just do that once the rgb30 gets here, easier than searching for the dongle
yeah I hope it is as nice as it seems, even if I probably won't play too much on it anyway, just couldn't resist buying one, all because my cousins kid had a Powkiddy 20s and I got jelly
a bit of light bleed ain't going to kill me if that is the worst of it, don't really expect to much from a sub 100β¬ device
well, would be a different story if you add a 0, but expectations for non-corpo hardware is generally rather low... aside from the Analogue stuff... would have been mad if the screen of the pocket would have been bleeding for that price
It depends on the emulator you're using
Basically using parallel with gliden64 and original speed is good for medium demand games and mupen64plus sa for lower quality but a bit faster
My XU10 was shipped the past night, It should arrive at the end of February, have I already said how happy I am that this device has support for JELOS? it was my first operating system in my first x55 and I fell in love with it! Thanks for your work!
What a pain in the ass it was to swap the buttons
there are some printable grip project?
i found this project for the hard case, idk if you want to pin it
https://www.printables.com/it/model/661159-xu-10-ampown-magic-x-3d-printable-hardshell-case
Kingston kanvas of 256gb come today, someone have tried It? Mu device still in transit
My XU10 arrived yesterday, it seems to have slight backlight bleed at the bottom in the corner. Nothing major, but noticable. Has anyone else experienced this and figured out a fix?
My initial thoughts are uneven pressure on the panel as pressing around the edges lightly will replicate the same kind of bleed
I really like the unit though. Its better than I expected and ill certainly use it more than I thought... The problem now is that ill for sure get an RG353V. Just need to wait for it to go on sale again
You could try to add some electrical tape around the screen and see if it fixes the issue.
Ill give that a try. Ill also see if its installed unevenly or anything like that as applying pressure or very slightly twisting the unit can replicate it
That said the screen quality still looks better than I expected. It looks nice enough in the videos, but even better in person
if I wouldn't have the r36s' screen to compare to, I wouldn't be able to complain about it
whole device is pretty nicely made for sub-50β¬
Yeah I was thinking about how good the r36s screen must look, if the XU10 looks so nice
For the price I cant complain at all. It feels nice in the hand, pretty solid and the buttons dont sound cheap
I was very close to complaining because the stockOS didn't even boot, but luckily these madlads here finished a JelOS build a few days prior to my XU10's arrival
if I only could figure out how to properly tweak the N64 performance, shit doesn't runs at all, while the r36s has surely noticeable slowdowns but still is playable
that aside, yeah the XU10 feels nice, way nicer than the r36s
btw shouldn't this channel be moved to the Powkiddy devices? at least they are selling it as one of their own handhelds at this point
ampown is too
yeah mine is an ampown
true enough
Anyone created a new complete image using Jelos ?
single card?
Mupen should work well enough
Is there any reason why the typical Jelos hotkeys (start + select to quit) wouldn't work on the XU 10? I flashed it this morning and everything works well except those
Damn, thanks a lot, I couldnβt find it anywhere! Would you mind telling me where can I configure it? I couldnβt find that either
Itβs my first handheld
tools - start retroarch
and watch thist ... https://youtu.be/evuTu5fnDls?si=jHjA9EFqr9rtQcDt&t=481
Today we're taking a look at how I set up my android emulation handhelds (featuring the famous Retroid Pocket 2s!). This is the simple approach I take to setting up my emulators (Retroarch, and standalone), how I setup my frontend (Dig), and how I make sure everything works together. Just a quick and dirty guide today, hope you find it helpful!
...
is it not same device, but retroarch config is same. there is basic config.
And disable this
Iβll watch it, thank you. I reached this setting and tried disabling it, but I didnβt find a menu to set them up. Iβll watch the video. Thanks again!
Yep π
better use dual card and copy roms from original SD
does have access to the original image file? all the libks posted here to them donβt work and i accidentally formatted my original sd card so i when attempt to install cfw. i been trynna fix this for so long and have gotten so frustrated but seeing others have problems makes me feel a lil better lol
stock OS never worked, I just deleted that shit
i cant get this to work for some reason. auto-detect is on, sd card is formatted, it states the directories were created and when i open the sd on the computer nothing
What file format are you using for the sd and which OS are you trying to read it on?
Random question anyone know if a wifi dongle would work with the Ampown XU10
In the reviews I watched, it seemed that there were some problems with that on this device, you could certainly try regardless, sometimes stuff just isn't compatible and that was with stockOS, glorious JelOS will probably have no issues
I use this with a usb c to a adapter:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtkS54S
Thanks, dose the device have a usb slot or will I need another adapter
Ya iv seen that the stock os is kinda bollocks so Iβll probs swap to JelOS
Has anyone managed to compare the performance of jelos and the performance of emuelec?
Anyone able to get fast forward to work on PS1 with jelos?
This Ethernet adapter works too https://eu.ugreen.com/collections/ethernet-adapters/products/ugreen-usb-to-ethernet-adapter-usb-3-0-to-rj45-1gbps-lan-network-adapter-gigabit-ethernet-adaptor-plug-and-play-for-macbook-pro-2022-2021-2020-2019-pixelbook-switch-chromebook-tv-box-steam-deck, just confirmed.
exFAT. i found some workaround to add games which is meticulous to say the least but it works π
Am I the only one who has issues with volume in the latest JELOS? Can't seem to change it, it's either 0 or 100, kinda random
The device has a usb c port for charging and usb c for otg.
Good morning guys, I recently received an XU10 and obviously i have used Jelos from the first day, but I don't understand if it is normal that Portmaster does not work, let me explain better, the program does not start, crashes at the start, but I downloaded several ports thare are ready to go, About 20 (an ready folder, for EMUELEC) but only a few work. I ask only to understand if it is a normal thing since the system recently supports the XU10, or something is wrong whit my configuration. Thanks
Worked out of the box for me, are you launching it from Tools? I guess it needs an active internet connection, just tried without - crashes.
yes, discovered this Today, my new wifi dongle from Aliexpress come today, WiFi AC600 + Bluetooth 5.0, The WiFi Work Like A Charm, the Bluetooth seems to work even if I haven't tested 100%
i will share the link if someone is interested or want to insert it in some list of compatibility
idk how much important is, but i get the "diver free" version
2.4G-5G-AC600+BT5.0
I wonder if BT would work with headphones, do you have anything to test?
i will test soon
I can't connect a Sony DS4
Even the whole Pairing process seems broken, the pairing process starts correctly only if I turn off and then on the Bluetooth, if I try to do the search twice, the second time the search pop up does not remain more than 1 second visible
Hi guys, someone know if between the 64GB ISO and the 256GB ISO of the Stock FW is there a difference in the amount of games in the porting section? or they have the same number of games?
I'd suggest you just "backup" your own roms, those rom sets aren't great
I just wanted to know how many Ports contains the 64GB version and the 256GB version, because I downloaded a folder ready for EMUELEC, but only very few work
Got my xu10 today, and noticed that the stock firmware works much better than JelOS, and the text is readable unlike jelOS, where can I download a new version of the stock firmware? All I found was a torrent which does not have seeds
Dreamcast runs very poorly on JelOS
ehh, stockOS is hot garbage, I'm surprised it even booted up and JelOS is love, JelOS is live
actually the r36s image of AmberELEC also runs on the XU10, just gotta figure out how to re-map the buttons, A/X are volume
They give terrible performance and all text in games becomes unreadable, I tried it.
By the way, if you order it on aliexpress, you can get some of your money back for cheating on the processor. I honestly didn't know about this until today, thought it was still rk3266s and ddr4
I think that the only good thing about the StockOS are the performance of Dreamcast, for everything else, Jelos wins
But I also think it only takes a little time to match the performance between Jelos and the Stock OS.
isn't the stock n64 emulator also incredible performance wise
well, the one in JelOS is doing pretty badly
I got an image of amberelec floating around somewhere in here that I worked with devfloki on that has controls fixed
I don't remember which one is set to default but just change it to mupen64plus standalone
Flycast2021 standalone is also gonna be more performance for Dreamcast but until I get retrorun working in mainline that is the fastest it can get
I can do banjo kazooie, conker and even dk64 with mupen sa on jelos
I wonder if I'm alone who has this issue with JELOS (latest as of writing, was reproducible on the previous build): sometimes after waking up the screen would go black, but everything appears to still run, only reset helps.
Also, rotate root password set to off is not respected, the password still rotates every reboot.
That's neat, if you guys have already figured it out. Any plans to make it avaible to the public?
Yeah, haven't really had the time to fiddle around with all the retro handhelds I bought as much as I would like, between work and trying to finish up Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth... if I only had infinite time, but certainly gonna try that. Finally figured out why my rgb30 wasn't doing HDMI out after all, on to the next mystery
It is available, I posted a link to it in here
I worked on that with him before doing the jelos work
Oh nice, only came accross the JelOS link when stockOS wanted to drive me mad and it isn't exactly included on the AmberELEC github, so I wasn't expecting that
hard to keep track of all the cfw on this server getting thrown around
good thing I didn't had time, nor a clue where my wifi-dongle is, otherwise I would probably have wasted @jovial palm's time trying to figure out the button mapping of the XU10, while you guys have already done that
And how to fix text that is difficult to read?
New theme, there are 3 official community theme, One of the 3 Is nice
I mean the text in the games on the Dreamcast, it is unreal to read, unlike the official firmware
Are the triggers loud like the Miyoo Mini+ devices (very discreet)?
maybe I'm just stupid, but when I unzip "AmberElec XU10.7z" I only get SYSTEM and SYSTEM.md5?
Because is a partial image. What I was talking about with the mapping it was to build a image to be plug and play.
yeah, but replacing those files in the flashed image should map the buttons correctly, right? just that the XU10 still behaves exactly the same as with the full image for the r36s/etc.
No. Because the system image from that archive contains the driver for mapping the keys. So if you take the 351mp image and drop in place the dtb and/or system on new amberelec images, will no longer boot. I was looking for the mapping to see what changes are required at system level or if it is possible to fix it from dtb file, even better
You replace the stock system with these
You can remap most controls at the DTB level but the joysticks are a 2 channel 1 bit mux so they would likely need to be modified for them to work right
I could give you the gpio pin out but I'm not home until Monday
Yes. I was looking for a way without modifying the driver. But seems there is no way
Correct
I am not in a rush
It took me a while to figure out what they did, which is why you had to keep using the base kernel. I can also give you the joystick driver when I'm back
If you have something different then what is in jelos, else I will use what you committed there
Yeah it's that, just you gotta pull it out of the patch file or extract it from the build sources
I already have the build from when I was testing for r36s. I just need to dig for the driver π
oh well, my stockOS was dead on arrival, so yeah, it's no longer with us
but it seems you guys got this
wait wdym? it is not those specs? i ordered it a few days ago
the more i do research the more it seems like i made a bad purchase
who can help with a test on xu10 with amberelec? I have a modified dtb and I need to see which keys are working
i can use it whit my second SD card setting up for jelos?
Yep
Its rk3326 and ddr3
Not rk3326s and ddr4
I would still consider it has nicer controls than the r36s but the r36s screen is nicer
I mean, if I don't need a dongle (can't find the damn thing and not sure if it works in the first place), I can certainly flash a fresh card and report back on what the keys are doing
How do I fix this fuzzy text? (the first two screenshots are JelOS, the second two are stock)
check emulator settings, looks like some linear filter or shader is turned on
I turned everything off and on, it didn't work.
scaling options are different maybe?
I don't know( On the default OS, all settings are hidden from the user(
where i can foun i virgin version of amber elec? i mean, from https://coar.ee/XU10/ i must copy the files over the OS whit rom, can i download amber elec directly from github?
Download XU10 CFW
It doesn't exist afaik, you can use the latest version instead on top of stock I think, just tried and seems to be working: https://github.com/AmberELEC/AmberELEC/releases/download/20230203/AmberELEC-RG351V.aarch64-20230203.img.gz
trying right now
you think i can use a second sd card that was setting up for jelos?
you mean to use directly the amber elec release, or i must copy the SYSTEM file in both case?
you still have to go the same way with overwriting SYSTEM
got it, thanks
black screen π¦ no luck
found a new txt file whit "dtb load fail" message
I had factory stock if that matters, not sure which version it was, but I think the loud one
no way to use the original amberelec img, so for now as a virgin OS we only have Jelos?
Damn has it always been that way a lie or did they change the specs once it got more popular
and where i can found sone clue for the ram? becouse i can do a screenshot from the jelos system specs, but the ram? i mean i can t say to aliexpress "my friend says that the ram are ddr3"
i trust you my friend but not aliexpres hahahaha
Always
If you look at a pic of the Mainboard and lookup the ddr modules it is clearly two 512mb unilc ddr3l chips
I can't find a video or photo where you can clearly see the writing on the chip .... I don't really want to disassemble mine, thanks anyway
Oh you mean like this?
I just disassembled mine
But yep, specs on the box say RK3326S and ddr4 2666. Which this certainly isnt
Ampown branded XU10 btw
The DTB also only uses ddr3 opp entries
What is DTB?
Device tree, which is the hardware description that Linux uses to use stuff like the memory
Ahh ok, thank you
Am I right in assuming that clock speeds on the RK3326 vs RK3326S is a difference of 100mhz?
Bro I canβt believe they fooled everyone
So if you bring it up to a seller they do a partial refund?
thing is no 3326 handheld ever runs at advertised 1.5GHz, so god knows what would 3326S do π
not fooled, we know it was bullshit, it's a Chinese product, you will only know whats inside if you open it and the chips ain't sanded down
With JelOs is it possible OC the cpu? Considering the copper shim in the back, and the space in the device it looks like there is the possibility to improve the heatsink and cool any potential OC effectively
Or even just cooling it well enough to maintain a solid 1.5ghz spec
What do these XU10s average on clock anyway, anybody know?
what mod is this?
thanks for the photo, but i can t figure out how i can say to the seller "this ram are ddr3, not ddr4", i mean, i can t foun some specs or spreadsheet on internet that explain wich chip are. thanks anyway
whit jelos you can overclock the CPU up to 1435 mhz, and it s stable, only 3-4Β° more in idle (not really tested on heavy games)
I would quote the serial number on the chip
SCB13H4G160AF-11M
You can find the spec sheet on google showing its 1866mhz DDR3L
yeah i m in search of this, i found a pdf now
That sounds promising. A slightly better copper shim should help with temps too
Good luck dealing with the seller though. If its aliexpress you're in for a tough time
I believe that was voltroxx adding a wifi module
i only found this 2 reference. i hope their are enough
Thats the correct one yes
but that seconds pic is from the spec sheet pdf
so should be totally fine
I don't think I will be lucky with a partial refund, the object was in the "Choise" category, and therefore has 15 days to return it for free, so in the opening of the dispute, it leads me directly to the return of the object and not to the choice of the refund/ partial refund
what about a raspberry pi fan mod?
3326s is twice as powerful as the 3326
Do you have a link to the specs of each?
I thought it was just slightly higher clocked. I couldn't find any solid info on anything other than the clock
3566
Thats quite interesting. I guess being 28nm helps, aside from that I can only really see a bump in the cache
The data sheet doesn't line up with the synthetics for me
unless that big bump in cache is really helping
other sources say it has unified 512kb L2 cache
the S
It would also be interesting to know which memory was used with each chip in the synthetic benchmarks
I'd love to do this. I don't see @untold carbon posting the photo, was it you? Did it work?
Yeah I want to give it a try too
what you think about use the hand grip from the R36S or the anbernic RG353V / RG35XX PLUS
No he did it, I believe he said it did
Do you happen to know which chip he used?
I don't recall, sorry.
probably bl-m8188fu
@gritty plume I'm trying to copy the stand-alone emulators off my UX10. How do I go about doing that?
What do you mean by this?
They are all binaries packaged in the bin folders
But you may have issues just sticking them in other releases
@gritty plume Hmmm... Okay
But I still want to copy them. Which folder are they in?
I am not by my computer but it is probably something like /usr/bin/ on the storage partition
So I'm most likely going to need my Linux computer to access them?
so i found a video on youtube, It was a review of the XU10, and they used a grip of the Anrbernic RG353V, looking for 3D printing projects on the internet I see that apparently they only differ 2mm on the back , so you can Use any material as a filling
someone can print some models? i have picked some
Hi guys, how do I can solve the problem of the power up when I recharge the device from the off-state? (jelos)
this is not bug, jelos is always starts if u chrage it.
so what the best workaround for this?
nothing switch it off if is it charged
Yeah I'll have to wait until after I move for that one. π₯
if you have a local library a lot of time they can do 3d printing for you for a small fee
Hi, I can test it tonight if you want.
hi. Thank you. for the moment all the buttons are working except for the joysticks. I am still looking into it to see if I have an option without a new driver. I will put here the dtb I have until now. with the prerelese for rg321mp, from here and the attached dtb, the device will boot and should have the mapping of all buttons except for joysticks.
Ok, if you need it, just call!
the site https://coar.ee/XU10/ is down
Hello, how are you?
Could you tell us which model of wifi module you used?
Voltroxx did that
A yes, thanks for the reply!
itβs devflokiβs personal server probably down, havenβt seen him in a while
Hello everyone! I am new about this stuff, but I plan to get this XU10 device, and I want to use ONLY one SD card on it, an samsung evo plus 256GB for the system and roms on the same card, does it is possible? also does it is possible to add any roms that I have on PC to the SD card freely?
when I mean to put my roms freely, is like I don't need to have the system Linux to have access of the partition of the Roms
Yes one card, Yes can view roms directory via windows
i want to do a battery mod, how about the max measure? i think i can go up 5500ma, what you think?
Thank you for the reply! I heared that the XU10 buttons A/B and Y/X are swapped. With the original (stock) OS system, is it possible to change the buttons settings one time in the emulator for ALL GAMES? or do I have to change the buttons game by game?
They are not swapped on OS the buttons are physically swapped.
If you modify the DTB file you can switch the gpio, only 4 lines you need to change.
Just got my XU10 in the post and want to put custom firmware on it, iv seen amberelec works but what installation file would I go with
I think hack around is still doing amberelec. JELOS on the other hand has been working for weeks now so that should be better for now.
Stock image from devfloki is at https://coar.ee/XU10/
Download XU10 CFW
Thankyou
Lol sorry Iβm asking loads of questions but how do I use a wifi dongle with the XU10 like what plug to I plug it into (Iβm using the JELOS)
USB WIFI > USB A TO USB C ADAPTER > OTG PORT
Iβm doing that but my wifi network dosent show up
probably unsupported chipset
Iv spoke to others who got it working before I bought it so it must be possible
do you see any netwrok at all when you enable wifi ?
do you have any LED on you wifi dongle ?
When I plug it into my laptop yes but on the xu10 no
on your laptop are you plugin it over usb directy or with the otg adapter ?
then are you sure you otg cable is fine ?
Iv got a few I can try
There brand new so Iβd hope so lol
Ya light up on my laptop with the OTG cable
this console is an usb 2.0 over that usb-c so is not equal to a normal port from a pc
which brand/model is the wifi dongle ?
Iβll have to find it give us a sec
S1 on this discord sent me a link to this one said it worked
is unsupported
Ffs π
Just waited like 2 weeks for this lol s1 said it worked
Can u send me a link to one that works ?
Or like a reference photo
there were probably multiple ones in the link, weren't there?
Iβm not sure but Iβll find the link
Here it is
if you want some brand, go with a tp-link Archer T3U
Might have changed tho as that was a US link and I swapped to the UK site
Probs why I got the wrong one π€¦
you can go with any wifi chip which has for example chipset rtl8821cu
Okey dokey
So if buy the XU10 device, and right on the start I open the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 from Super Nintendo, does the command button are going to work like this way on the picture? or it will be reversed?
the OS works on the Nintendo layout
if you want unscrew this thing and swap the buttons around
did that too
gave me peace of mind
Would this one work ?
Just checking lol
if they didn't add different chipset inside, then it should work
I don't know to modify those things, I don't even have the XU10, I am planning to buy it because I really liked the dpad (much better than R36S), but the bottons are based on Xbox controller type, so I don't know if I will need to change the buttons when I play SNES games
you don't NEED to change anything, but it looks better if you do
βοΈ
problem about eyeing these devices is they usually buy the case and stuff in different chipsets inside. so you might get the same case but different insides xD
π
So alright, from what I understood now, by default the buttons positions will work the same for SNES
yeah, the physical buttons may have the Xbox layout if you don't swap them yourself, but the software runs the same as on every other device, so they are basically just wrongly labeled (and only fit the N64, which doesn't runs too great)
@severe turtle the link I've sent to you is the actual device I got and works fine on amberelec and jelos
Ya I canβt click on that link as itβs in another country
If u mean this one
Then go with tp-link t3u
doesn't even shows the item with "no shipping to your location", just NOTHING
Ima get one from Amazon cos shipping is faster anyway
Nar
Okey :))
But tp-link one dose not have bluetooth if you were planning to use it
Search on aliexpress for βusb rtl8821cuβ
And you will find some of those usb dongles with green writing where they say on description they are using that chipset
Something like this https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EudBFPP
But does amberlec and jelos makes the N64, PSP and Dreamcast games runs slower? I heared that the Stock (default) system of XU10 is the best for perfomance
Stock os is a modified amberelec
But the amberelec that you installed are running fine the dreamcast, psp and N64 games? like how it was on the "original" system.
Amberelec dose not work yet as are some issues with the joysticks
I donβt have xu10, but is still an rk3326 device. So performance should be okish on n64. Psp is a hit and miss, donβt expect to run GoW
the only real performance difference in jelos right now is that retrorun is not yet available, which allows for some better performance in dreamcast and saturn
stock comes with a heavily modified mupen that runs a ton of n64 games at full speed per youtube videos
jelos also runs mupen64 with rice
i was able to do conker at somewhat playable fps along with dk64 and banjo kazooie
I see your somewhat playable and I raise you "better performance than rk3566 devices" per Russ https://youtu.be/_icNOHFu7Bc?t=1192
The XU10 is a mysterious handheld that came out of nowhere, with excellent build quality, good controls, and a stock firmware that's not terrible. Let's take a look at this device and see whether it's worth picking up.
Buy one here: https://bit.ly/RGCxu10
This was a review unit sent to me by KeepRetro. All opinions are my own, they did not s...
uh okay
But stock is just kiosk mode locked amberelec π€£
they did something with mupen to make it run faster
someone should just steal the binary and republish it
all they did was mangle the core options to disable everything they did
like say the chip is rk3326s and let people decide on their placebos π€£
I think they did nothing. is just stock amberelec
Well it will be easy to prove me wrong, does perfect dark run at full speed except some audio crackling on mupen+rice with cfw?
Seems fine
Hell yeah
stock amberelec
That's great news
for this particular game I used mupen, but are other N64 games which they run very good with retrorun. I don't know if on original OS retrorun is an option
honestly seems like the rk3326 is underrated lately
is a good price. especially if you are just starting on retro world. but if you want something better and more expensive are a lot of other options
I want an xu10 just for the sony style dpad but I really have too many handhelds already
I saw this OTG device, and it made be wonder something... does it possible to me connect an Joystick on USB input, and on the same time use the HDMI input to the show the game screen of the XU10 to the TV? π€
Never
That usb-c is just an usb 2.0 otg, no more
You are expecting too much from this device
Well I am just new to this world of portable consoles, so that OTG input can only work with USB devices? so can I connect an USB Flashdrive on OTG port to insert roms to inside XU10's SD card?
most of the users they use it to connect a wifi dongle
but yes, you can connect an usb stick, a keyboard, mouse, etc
Very interesting, I will definetely search one about this when I buy XU10, thanks for the reply
I have had ended up going back to stock FW and setup has everything plays nice. Sure you can put Jelos on it but the games dont run as well. Stay with stock for now until someone makes a nice CFW image with everything setup ready to play
Thank you really much about the suggestion, I still don't have the XU10, but it is the portable console under 50$ that I have been most interested with until now.. at fist I was very interested on the R36S portable until I met XU10, the d-pad, buttons and analog positions are really good. So until now I am decided to buy this device. But I also wanted to ask, does this device can do save games without using the saves state? I mean if it can be saved by using a virtual PS1 memory card inside the emulator, N64 and SNES Cartridges?
One thing to note about the XU10 - its an RK3326 + DDR3L 1866, not the specs advertised (RK3326-S + DDR4 2666mhz)
About the save states question, I cannot answer sorry
Oh really? and how about the CPU clock? π€
Same as all other RK3326
I understand, I just didn't know the clock, I searched about it now, it is 1.5 Ghz, and on the advertised was 1.6 though
btw in reality its not 1.5, no 3326 runs at 1.5
In most cases where the emulator allows this then yes. Save games work as normal. But yes the reason why I chose this is because of the controls. The buttons and dpad are very comfortable and have a good feel to them. The joystick layout is also very nice.
I understand, thanks for your report. If the R36S had the buttons and dpad like this, it could be my favorite under $50. Well, talking about saves states... Is there an emulator or core that doesn't let you use the save state? π€
Guys, it looks like there is an update 2.0 about XU10 that improve somethings, however the download link is not available yet, but I will leave the link here for you guys to check it out
nope
You mean about the saves state question?
i meant the update 2.0 that git doesnβt even make his own system just taking from anotherβs work
I understand, on the line it says he is not the author of it anyway
the changelog it s a dream
Yeah, but I hope it doesn't make worse the emulation of N64 and Dreamcast
*we Hope π€£
yup XD
Well, does anyone knows which and how many games comes for each console on the stock 256GB image on github? π€
is just OS, so no games
I think it is the standard OS + the games that come of SD card from china, there is no way the basic OS can take 64GB size, so not even 256GB. So it probably comes with the Stock games of the default SD card that comes already inside of the XU10.
Usually is a image of an working os. So when you create an image from a running os it doses not matter that you have 200gb free space, you can restore only on a 256gb sd card.
you don't have to trust me, you can try it π
Anyone know how on JELOS I can make quiting games more seamless atm it makes me click both sticks and then go into the emulator then exit
G+Start twice
Cheers lol
isn't it shutting down most emulators if you press start+select twice?
Well I still didn't understand much, but I downloaded the 64GB image file on my PC, I am waiting my 256GB sd card to arrive, so do I will have problems if I install the 64GB image on my 256GB sd card? π€
I am really new to this
I believe there is no problem, but only 64GB will be available, you can expand it later with Minitool Partition or similar, but it could corrupt everything.
I understand the issues with partitions, but I don't understand much about their behavior on Linux systems on these handhelds
So I did this update that @gray frigate talked about. Though when I put in my wifi dongle I found there was an update but I have no room for it to do it wirelessly. Does anyone know how to update the firmware?
BUY IT HERE FROM GOGAMEGEEK! https://shrsl.com/4d18o
($63.75 on gogamegeek with sale code BN55 until Jan 7)
One last budget handheld of the year, squeaking in at the zero hour. It's the PowKiddy XU10 (or is it the AMPOWN XU10!? Or the MAGICX XU10!? I dunno). It's a great little device with solid controls, great build, nice screen, and solid per...
So no HDMI out?
The best review on this is the @gray frigate review I just posted.
cpu rk3326 dose not have hdmi capabilities
Bummer
better go with a rk3566 if you want hdmi output. I saw pk rk2023 at 49$ on sale on aliexpress
eh rather spend $20 more for the rgb30 or rgb10max3
I like the vertical handhelds best
rgb20sx it is
I can't find that on Allie
Lol, i just tried gran turismo on the XU10 for the first time. No English language and regardless of what you choose, you get Russian haha
Runs well though
I don't think it could corrupt, I see alot of people expanding SD card on this way in other devices
But well, is there a way to know which extension of the roms works for each console on the XU10? when I mean extension, I mean the type of the files ".7z .bs .bsx .dx2 .fig .gd3 .gd7 .sfc .smc .st .swc .zip" and etc
This update bring new stuffs, but it going to make the dreamcast, n64 and psp emulator run worse
Though you can update it via WiFi
If you do it, report to us about the changes
I've been trying but I don't have space on my SD card for some reason
I'm going to have my more technical friend help me tomorrow
Is there some special way to charge the XU10 and im really stupid or something? I put it on charge over 8 hours ago, got the little lightning icon in the battery implying that its charging, got a purple light, yet it hasnt charged at all...
Its the first time ive needed to charge it since receiving it. Hasnt budged past 26%
So it doesnt charge if you dont fully turn it off and then plug in the cable. It just pretends
Mine charges fine, you using an USB-A to C cable?
Using the cable that came with it
If the device is powered on and then i try to charge it, it doesnt charge. It will show a charging icon and the light will go purple but it wont charge.
It will only charge of its completely powered off and then the charge cable is inserted
Slightly stupid if you ask me
Basic China handheld one-o-one

Wait, it still shows 26% event though it was charging
Whats the voltage supposed to be on these batteries?
Shows 4v 1a when charging. Seems pretty healthy to me
So its reporting the battery charge level incorrectly
Yep. Just drops on charge, charges up, shows its charging properly but doesnt actually go up on percentage. Have to send it back, great
It was fun while it lasted
Do it then and draw your conclusions!
I read thats its a fixable charging bug, yet I cannot find any info on how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated
Although I am in 2 minds as to whether I should return it or not, after prolonged use, whilst I like the form factor, its a bit too small for my hands
Try disconnecting the battery
Well you just need to expand the "Roms" partition, and not the system. If you do that, it is ok, but before of doing that, you need to backup the files inside the roms partition, then delete the partition, and after that create a new one of the same format and name it was before, but with increased free space, and put all the files back to that partition again.
Thank you alot bro!
Maybe it can be a software bug, maybe it can be fixed with a firmware update?
Ill give it a try when im home. I actually took the XU10 with me to play on my holiday flight
Short lived
I heared that the XU10 shows 0% battery sometimes but it is not even real
So it can be a bug
Is there are warning when you are playing with low battery? like the system tells you to recharge or something?
I am a XU10 player in China, I have used the 2.0 updated system, I feel incredible about it
Oh nice, what are the news of this firmware versions?
The problem of dual TF cards has also been solved. PSP performance changes have been significantly improved.
The version we have distributed to us through the store, is the Chinese version. There should be an English version.
That's nice, but the emulators of N64, Dreamcast gets worse the perfomance?
N64 and Dreamcast are the same as the original ones.
Thats really good! do you know where I can get the 2.0 file update?
What has been changed is the switching between TF1 and TF2, as well as the theme of the simulation station, and the PSP has been significantly improved.
I can ask the store where I purchased it to see if there is an English version
Thats looks way nicer
The staff in the store told me to just wait for the English version download link on github.
Ive not had any warnings as of yet, but im wary to run it down to the point where the system thinks its empty and wont turn on
Isnβt the battery reminder just looking at the indicator light on the side?
Oh that's good!
Oh I forgot about the light indicator, I bought the XU10 but it will take like 2 weeks or more until it arrive in home, I have a doubt about it, when the battery is on low, the light will start flashing? or it going to change color? or something
Yes, it will turn pink when the battery is low
I saw that github has updated the download link for 64G. You can try
Oh that's really nice, sure I will keep it saved on my computer, thanks for the report!
I hope there will be 3.0
Well do you know if it is possible to create a folder inside the partitions roms? for exemple, I would like to create a folder called "Super Nintendo Hacks", so I would insert just hacked roms on this folder (Like Mario world hacks and other). But I don't know if the XU10 system will recognize that folder, will it? or the system just recognize the standard folders? π€
TF2 is now available. You can use TF2 to run SNES games, but you need a TF2
My TF2's ROMS directories all have standard names and it can be recognized.
TF2 you mean, second slot sd card right? but I will only use one SD card of 256GB for my XU10, an samsung evo plus card
github should be able to help you. I saw there are instructions for use
If you only use a TF1 card, you can only find the SNES directory and put the game in it. This is what I did on a 1.0 system
I don't understand much about this stuff, but is this a file that you have to download and replace inside the system?
First of all, you need to know what emulator the game you want to run is. Then insert the TF card into the computer. It will have a ROMS hard drive directory with many emulator folders. You only need to put the game into the corresponding folder. Thatβs it
do you think that we can use the mod of the https://coar.ee/XU10/ site on the 2.0 version of the stock OS?
Download XU10 CFW
Yes I know, these is what I call default folders, because they are the original. But I don't want to put hacked roms mixed with the original roms, so I want to create a new folder for separate them, but my doubt is: I don't know this new folder for the hacked roms the XU10's system will recognize them
at least JELOS has no issues with another sub folder in a rom folder
heck, the stock card it comes with had that
And how about the Stock system? π€
that never even booted for me, so f* that
If I sort my charging issue out, is it possible to just format a 128gb card and dump the contents of the 64gb card onto that without any extra work?
you can literally just flash the 64gb card onto a 128gb one, yet you will have to add the remaining space to the partition meant for games, if you want to use it, so your extra work will be downloading a partitioning tool and just doing that
Ah ok, thats pretty easy
I want to add my ps1 games
Id rather fix this battery issue than go through the hassle of sending it back
Ill just 3D print a grip or something
at that point just buying a 3d printer yourself seems reasonable
yeah buddy
plus i m from palermo, i found only few professional printer, whit crazy price
I have my own 3D printer
Anycubic vyper
Hello friends, it is a pleasure to be able to share this new firmware that a friend created for xu10
do you have any screenshots of the UI?
ooooh so it's a jelos fork?
i was thinking the same
Gratitude is extended to the following project and its contributors:
JELOS System: Serving as the foundational framework, JELOS System provides the groundwork for NostixOS, forked from Just Enough Linux Operating System (JELOS).
looks like it
so what's different from jelos
It was created based on the jelos source code
nice one my friend, so Mainly what are the differences?
Jelos has many errors in xu10, in this firmware all those errors were corrected, this firmware is polished specifically for xu10, that is, it does not have the records or files of other consoles
If you try it you will realize what I'm talking about.
and i presume that i can use my second TF without changing anything
that's right
Although it looks similar visually, I assure you that the gaming experience is very enjoyable.
nice one
i really want to do a raspberry fan mod, but idk where to connect the energy cable without create an undervolt on the board
maybe in the usb DC circuit
Does the emulation of Dreamcast, N64 and PSP are the same as it was in stock? because on the JelOS the perfomance was worse
i see a white led, i m right?
tell me a n64 game to test
i think the button are fixed, a dream come true
I found the Dreamcast enjoyable on this system, n64 almost the same experience as the dreamcast
The shortcuts on the G button work, the LED is light blue, when it goes to sleep it turns dark blue
nice one
5v
@dusky vault there's 12,504 games on the 256 gb & 12,104 128gb. But the 256 gb one I got gets screwed up after the firmware update @gray frigate talks about in his video
First video is the stock OS. Second video is after the manual system update from @gray frigate's video on the 256 gb SD card.
This is the 128 GB with the update from the @gray frigate video plus I added some Pico 8 games
why did your friend rebrand it violating the license instead of fixing the existing errors in JELOS?
Jelos is open source, meaning you can use its core to build other systems. In addition, Jelos has many errors since several devices are added to a single system and this causes some errors. It was more common to create using only the Jelos core and creating a new construction.
but where are the sources for nostix? I see only readme there
could you please tell me what errors needed correcting?
i can just merge them in if you have fixes, lol
it's simple to add device specific quirks, there's already some in there
or you can pr them too
the only license issue technically would be not releasing sources since it is gpl
Yeah seems weird how they did that. Donβt know if itβs a fork like amberelec and jelos or a modification like arkos and retroarcade
Im going to update to 2.0...on sunday... to see if that fixes the battery issue. Does anyone know if the 256gb file on the github repository also contains all of the roms?
It should be
Because I downloaded 256G from the store with the
I couldn't get it to update the latest pre release version of AmberELEC
Tried deleting ROMS that I didn't want but it still said that the update folder had no room. Though I still can't find this eluded storage/roms/update file
you need around 2gb free. if the update is successful or not the file is automatically deleted from update folder
this update is directly from stock OS ?
are your controls still working after updating to 351V ?
Not with Dreamcast
I want to buy a usb wifi+bt dongle, someone has bought one that its compatible?
i brought the cheap version of a wifi5+bt dongle, but the connection it s horrible, in the PC the upload it s better than the download, in the XU10 the ping it s horrible, copying up to 5mb it s fine trough SSH it s fine, buy a branded one
I have this one
I was planing in buying this exact model lol
i think it s good if you only use it for scraping, update your device, or download from port/theme master
it s a piece of trash but i buyed for 4 euro shipped and was refounded for defective device
Donβt expect a bug jump, for example tp-link t3u has usb 3.0, but xu10 has usb 2.0 so you are limited by device it self.
I was actually surprised at the performance by it, I can get upwards of 160mbit xfer when I push updates to it
Cheapest hand grip on the web, from the Coin section, for me was 8,53β¬ shipped (AliExpress standard shipping, delivery from 19 to and of March)
As a far as i know, the xu10 have only 2mm of difference, so a bit of ducktape Will be fine, i found some review that Say "this fit for R35/6S and XU10"
There is a 2.0 version of the stock OS on the official repository, it seems to fix a bunch of stuff, though it is still a very closed environment, it adds a new theme and performance ups in heavy games are up to 20%.
Basically wanted to add the proper TMNTSR onto the xu10 so I ported my steam version but now it wont open it just goes black then crashes (I followed retro game corps tutorial)
I got half life working
So maybe itβs just that game
retro game corps link is old. get latest from portmaster discord
Okey cheers
I looked on there website but there wasent a link dint think about discord lol
Is there any review about the 2.0 XU firmware?
Yes, I normally use the 64GB SD card with the original operating system and only the roms of the Dreamcast or PSP (which run a little better) but with this new version, when i delete all the other Roms, no games are working anymore
but, assassin creed on the psp run better (i think non really enjoyable, but run)
For anyone who has asked about wake from suspend and the screen blanking out in jelos, it should be fixed in the next release
My unit started registering charge. Weird
No, that would be just about full
It just started registering when you updated to 2.0? or are you still on 1.0?
I was thinking the same
Still on 1.0
Im flying back from holiday so ill probably update tonight
When you do it, please report if you find any downside of the Stock version
Ok, just got home. How do I go about updating the system? I cant find any walkthroughs and I dont want to break anything
and good news - disconnecting and reconnecting the battery fixed my issue
@dusky vault
Are you updating the stock OS?
Normally its a case of overwriting the 3 systems files in the primary directory but back up your old ones first.
Changing the controls in the menu doesn't affect N64 Emulation for me. Anyone got an idea which config file to edit? Using the 2.0 stock-firmware
Yes, I want to update the stock 1.0 OS with the new 2.0 OS on the github repository
I bought this wifi with dongle from Amazon for $8 then got a 3 pack of USB type A to C for $2

Where is the update folder?
/roms/update
is normal to be empty. that is the folder you need to use to drop in .tar file for the update or trigger again the update from your menu
Ok
Soooo... anyone able to share how I would update stock 1.0 to the new 2.0?
