its very much still survival horror, they just shifted the camera and replaced tank controls with "totally not tank controls"
Personally I'd still rather play the originals.
well, fair enough haha, I personally am one of those people who considers Super Mario Bros/SMB in Mario All-Stars/Super Mario Bros Deluxe to be 3 different games, anything more than a graphical upgrade is too much for me for a game to "replace" the original haha
The remakes may still be survival horror and they may be faithful to the originals but they're undoubtedly drastically different experiences.
yeah. the remake of 1 is a little different because it's a lot older and still keeps the fixed camera angles at least, the other remakes go much further
Can I use the herbs on their own like this or do I have to combine them with other herbs in order to get the healing benefits from them? (Except for the red, I know that those need to be combined)
You can use them on their own but they heal more when combined and it frees up inventory space
Alright, I’ll work on figuring out how 😂 The RE1 Make would be easiest because I can just do it straight from my PS5 (or my PS4 with a camera…), but installing and setting up OBS on my Mac to play the original version might be an option 👍
I’ve got a job interview tomorrow (been trying to find work for months, so I really want this!), but after that’s over perhaps I can do it tomorrow night. What does 9PM Eastern US look like for you?
In the few games I played, saving the red to combine with yellow and green was best… idk if yellow existed in RE1 though
So far I've found green, red, and blue herbs.
Ok! I don’t know 😂
It’s a good thing this was game of the month, promoting me to try it for the first time 😂
green heals, blue cures poison, red does nothing on it's own but triples the affectivness of green when combined
I discovered that I can also combine blue with green, which I assume simultaneously cures poison and heals you.
people keep saying that but there are ways in which REmake 1 changes drastically from the original were REmake 2 and 3 stick close to the source material
Like, REmake 1 radically alters the tone from pulpy and jokey (a good bit of it was intentional, if you can believe it) to borderline lovecraftian, and alters the structure of the mansion to be a lot more puzzle focused.
2 and 3 on the other hand stick closely to the tone and aesthetics of the originals, 3's remake straight up just rescores the same soundtrack instead of doing an original one like the other 2
oh and crimson heads lol
thats about on par with mr x chasing you everywhere in REmake 2, it radically alters your playstyle
Been loving this game, this is my first time giving it a go actually.
I'm playing the original on ps1, I enjoy video game history and I can see how this game and a few others that were released the same year changed gaming
Also im thankful for this chat. I was going on reddit looking for answers to solve things haha, its more fun to talk with people here without looking up stuff on the internet, gives a piece of that nostalgia back haha
ikr?
whats your set up?
I'm playing on retroid pocket 3+ now! I do have the physical games at my moms house, I just never actually played them,
My cousin got me into resident evil, devil may cry and metal gear really young haha. Res 4 and metal gear 3 and dmc4 were my first entries into the series that I played
lol thats awesome, first time i played RE1 was on a DSi
just started the DC again and i forgot it aint got subtitles lol

Facts
Alright, I played a further 30 mins
This is gonna be of those games I struggle with, it seems
So basically I only played 15 minutes before, got back to the main room to find ||Wesker and Jill missing||
I went to the right, found a small key, ink ribbons and a map on the first floor
I went upstairs and found ||a dead body and some crows I ran away from||
Now I'm exploring the ||right-side corridor upstairs|| and damn, there's like 4-5 zombies in there, but I only have 45 rounds of ammo and one first aid kit, so I can't get past this area
I encountered the zombies that spit on you
How do I fight zombies with a knife lol
playing remake, I nearly died to the first zombie because I didn't look at the controls. They are nothing like the original.
it's risky. You have to be close, but not too close.
every time I get a hit, I take a hit back but they damage me way more
and also, how can I kill a downed zombie
I try stabbing down but it doesn't work
take a step forward, bloody twat bites me in the leg
catch them at full range (hard to gauge) then turn and run sideways to get out of their own hit range
run around behind them before trying to stab down.
stab from their feet.
with a knife - get behind em or wait til they get up. with a gun, you can get a round off but you also can't seem to hit them while they're standing back up so also kinda better to wait til they get up.
ohhh, would never figure that out myself, thanks
Frankly it's best to avoid using the combat knife whenever possible. Lately I've just been leaving it the item box.
counter point - it saves ammo and makes the later game much easier.
Or, you're Chris, so you don't have the option otherwise for a bit. 🙂
Oh yeah, I'm playing as Chris
if it wasn't taking up inventory space I'd always keep that thang on me but yeah it's useful in the early bits when there's just or two of the lurchers where you can take your time
I'm not actively trying to use the knife, I'm just running out of ammo
It's pathetically weak though. So far I used it to kill that one zombie you encounter early on that's already on the floor, and the one that's next to the statue that you need to push off the ledge. I was able to slash the zombie with the statue being between me and it.
Pro tip. Don't kill all the zombies. Avoid them as much as you can.
It kind of makes exploration even more stressful though, and I'm already freaking out cause I don't know if I'm going the right way
kill all the zombies! I found it's actually possible if you don't waste a lot of ammo missing. and then you never get surprised by some punkass when you retrace your steps. but do use the knife if you can, and use the right weapons for the job (pistol on basic zombies, shotgun on dogs, GL on hunters etc)
if you use the shotty on normal zombies, let em get close-ish and aim up to headshot them, saves some ammo
I haven't encountered a situation yet where it was necessary to use the shotgun on the dogs. I think I've had 3 encounters with dogs, I've used the pistol for 2 of them and I ran past the dogs that you encounter before you get to the guardhouse.
bring a grenade launcher if you feel a boss fight coming
oh wait, there were also dogs once you take that lift down to get to the guardhouse, right? Those ones are tricky to take on with a pistol.
I think I'll restart as Jill
the 6 slot inventory seemed fine until I realised it includes things like ammo and ink ribbons
Yeah, apparently Jill is the more beginner friendly character.
Sadge, I prefer playing as dudes
ink ribbons you can stope in the trunk and only take out when you need them
I haven't found the trunk yet
Is the REmake easier than this one?
I dunno, I played Directors Cut, and used savestates
I might play that one
no
Well, if you play any of the REmake ports with modern controls instead of tank controls, I imagine that it would be easier.
😦
I'll try playing as Jill, but I might give up on this one
I don't think I ever completed a horror game, too much of a pussy lol
REmake on Switch was on sale recently, but I think that sale ended a few weeks ago.
I believe if you play REmake on anything but GameCube, then you'll have the option to use modern controls.
I don't have a problem with spooky games, but the game does become increasingly stressful, especially when you start encountering enemies who can poison you. The chance that you'll die and lose a significant amount of progress increases the more you progress through the game, so even I'm not sure how much more I'll play of RE: Director's Cut.
My Trunk was full by the end of my play thought
the DS version is easier too cuz it adds a dedicated knife button like in re4 and the quick turn from re3
i wouldnt say either of those are complete gamebreakers but they can definitely take the edge off a little bit. and yeah jill is easier
I say don't give up on this one. It's honestly not that scary outside of a few moments here and there. and it's just tension rather than jump scares so just stay cool and rest easy knowing that save points aren't too hard to find and ink ribbons are plentiful. you won't lose too much even if you do die. it's much less stressful than a dark souls or even other horror games.
you dont, the knife is to knife them on the floor
jill is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier, you can get the grenade launcher and shotgun within 15 min of starting the game
https://www.evilresource.com/resident-evil btw i somehow forgot to mention this but if any of y'all need help, it doesnt get better than this site
its simple, straight forward, doesnt require reading a huge guide full of spoilers, etc.
I only played Resident Evil 4. So to play this is kind of a trip. Seeing what things in 4 were series staples is blowing my mind. The save area music being the same in both is cool
Jumpscared I can deal with, tension breaks me 😅 I'm a very anxious person due to living with abusive parents and games adding even more tension isn't something I enjoy 🫣
Then forget what I said and don’t force yourself through an experience that’s gonna cause distress
Oh I’m sorry, yeah I go to games for stress release and relief, not worsening my anxiety or tension beyond a few moments. My mother in law reinforces tension every time we see her, at this point she is worse than my wife’s father whom she got a restraining order against when my wife was like 10.
If saves and running out of ribbons is a concern, you should remember you’re playing on an emulator… use a save state! You can use self-imposed rules if you like, such as making a save state every time you walk past a typewriter, or if you died to a boss once then you can save just before the re-encounter on your next life, etc.
I'm actually playing with original hardware + an ODE (XStation), and I'm pretty sure that it doesn't have save states.
Ah

rum makes everything better innit mate
yes. nice setup btw
thanks! ❤️
I have to keep going
i have to go alllll the way back to the elevator now that I've got ||a battery||
Running pretty low on ammo. Is there a reliable way to avoid the hunters ? Am I supposed to understand their jumping ?
the hunters were the worse. I upped my sidearm to a shotgun, then a bazooka to deal with them
Alright, playing as Jill on training mode, I'm handling this better
Barry being there helps a lot
the jumping is random, just prey they start it late lol
the handgun is worthless against hunters, you need almost a full mag to kill them and it doesnt stun them
so I shouldn't use the shotty for normal zombies, like ever, right?
you can. it helps if you fish for headshots though!
there's not enough pistol ammo to kill all the normal zombies, if you're killing everything.
and you'll have more than enough grenade ammo to use it on both bosses and hunters
(if you're thorough anyway)
In most of the hallways you can avoid the zombies with some luck. And then you get to more open areas where they're very easy to avoid
hunter in an hallway, though? how am i supposed to get by that
even on training mode?
yeah a big part of this game is knowning when dodging is the call and when safely spending resources is.
dunno, just going off normal mode experience
vault-tec jumpsuit
if training mode has more ammo which according to google it says ammo is doubled, you can easily just blast every enemy in the game
at that rate you can probably just box the pistol for the rest of the game once you ||leave the mansion||
then carry around a shotgun with ammo and a grenade launcher for bosses/hunters (refilling ammo from the box as needed)
easy breezy
double ammo is indeed the one change i can remember in training mode, its on the DS version too but hidden
as a cheat
sounds great tbh.
Pretty speakers, Creative Labs, right? I think they’re called the Pebble or something like that?
Yep, the Pebbles! Ultra cheap, pretty and sound surprisingly decent. Most days I don't even use my HD600 unless I want to really enjoy music 😁
They look like baby KEF speakers, with the copper colored dynamic drivers 😂
Hahaha that might explain why I really wanted the KEFs before I looked at their price
im at the lab, its crazy how much i remembered of this game lol
like i had to look up a few things, mostly regarding the guardhouse cause its unmemorable as hell
but i rememebred a shocking a mount
havent played this game in half a decade
when I saw the evil plant with the gas line next to it... 💡
wait what
oh you playing the remake?
no
wdym with gas line then lol
maybe not gas but it's where you can ||put fertilizer in|| and turn a knob to ||kill|| the plant nearby
also the jill sandwich
you get the ||chemicals from the save room near the stairs and then drop it into the water pump||
I knew exactly what he was talking about when he said "evil plant". 😛
thats the first thing i do every run, early shotgun isnt even worth it but why not
to be fair there's more than one 😄
there are 2 plants wdym lol
i thought he was talking about ||using vjolt or the flame thrower||
Really? I guess I haven't gotten to the second one yet. 😲
btw got to the ||lab|| with 101 handgun bullets lmao
I still haven't continued playing since getting to the guardhouse and seeing my first giant spider. ;P
I had so much ammo by the time I was done my trunk was filled. This was also my 12 time playing the game
filled trunk? you dont merge stacks?
i think the DS version does it for you, but that might be just me mixing it up with RE2 and 3
how giant we talking
All my ammunition was all the healing stuff wasn’t stacked unless I did it to get more inventory at the time.
DS doesn’t unless you have that ammunition in your inventory when you pick it up
im obsessed with being tidy, a good 15 min of my playthrough are just cause i wanted to make sure everything was tidy up
oh ok my bad, misremember, i think the remake does it.
but then again, every other RE game after RE1 does it too
I can’t remember if the remake does
speaking of
had to use one save cause i had to fucking sleep lmao
standard mode with jill in case anyone is wondering
That was close to my time also
more of a chris guy but figured i should get some variety
got the best ending but im 1 hour over the infinite rocket launcher Q_Q
The size of a refrigerator I guess? I just know they're big, hairy, and creepy. 😛
||you aint seen nothin yet
||
My time was like double this. Skill issue
lol thats normal for a first playthrough
i wondered only a lil bit
I think I’m going to have to avoid this channel to avoid spoilers 😂
sorry i cant help myself Q_Q
No worries, if it wasn’t you, it’d be someone else… and it’s a, what, 30 year old game?
in 2 and a bit years, yes
the other GOTX game that inspired this one, doom, IS 30 years old this year tho
yo step bros
I think I'm stuck
I found the ||mansion key with a shield on it|| but I can't find any place to use it
I think I've explored every corner of the house that is available to me so far ||but I can't be sure as I don't have the map of the 2nd floor||
I've ||solved the painting puzzle to get the sun emblem and placed it in the garden|| and ||played the piano and swapped the emblems to retrieve the shield key|| but I can't figure out what to do next
||I'm playing as Jill and have the shotgun, bazooka and acid rounds for the bazooka||
it's the director's cut edition on PS1
do you want the solution or do you want a hint
the hint is ||use the lighter on the second floor fire place to get the map||
definitely a hint!
I haven't found ||a lighter|| yet, any clues where to search for it?
isnt the lighter something you already have?
ah wait
jill has to find it
yeah ok i'll give you a different hint instead ||the shield key us used for ONE thing only, on the second floor||
yeah that one was frustrating
some keys open 60 doors and some very much not
I need to push through and finish this but I stopped for a long while and i'm going to be super lost i think
shit, I guess it's time to re-search the entire ||second floor|| 🤐
i got ||the battery|| and there's not much there, do i just go straight back to the elevator ?
future RE games replace themed keys that open one thing with unique key items that are more clear, luckly
the battery is used for a lil puzzle in ||the courtyard||
a) REmake is not at all how I remember RE on the PSX, this game got me anxious 😰
b) Got my first head explosion, so satisfying not to have to burn a body.
just FYI, you can get consistent crits by waiting till a zombie is REAL close and aim up with the shotgun
super useful as jill in the remake to ||prevent crimson heads||
Ah, neat. I've just been avoiding or burning when I can't. I don't have time for Crimson Heads
I've heard about the Crimson Heads. About how far into the original Resident Evil do you start to encounter them?
they are not in the original RE1
its something they added for the remake
Ooohh, well that's a relief. c:
It took a while to actually see one, and I immediately ran from it
Seriously, ||fucking sharks!? I HATE SHARKS!!||
||Now they're flopping uselessly, love it||
please don't ||fuck sharks||
DONT play the remake then lol
Too late
people ||fuck sharks|| in the remake? crazy
Alright, finally at the Labs. The end is within reach!
I won’t make it to this one. I spent too much time bouncing between the two versions and now Sonic…
Yeah idk if I will make it. Have been busy playing Mario wonder lol. DS version is good tho and I'll try to finish it in November
if y'all feel stuck, no shame in using evilresource or a guide! RE is like myst in that once you know what to do it goes by FAST
like, i could dead ass finish the game 3 times before the month is over, in each of the remaining modes, but im not even that good, i just got good memory
Maybe I’ll just break down and beat Sonic real fast with save states so I can get to this.
Mario has messed up my month, too. But I haven’t given up hope for RE yet
I'm on pace to burn through it in two-ish days. Not because it's gripping, but because I quickly realized this mansion was built by a madman and started using a guide because I don't need to spend hours wondering which room I'm supposed to go to next.
Seriously, even with zero monsters, this building is terrible.
The building was the monster all along….
lmao it makes sense most of the time if you understand its moon logic
except when it doesnt, like with the shield key
you just gotta have to had checked that door on the way to the other medallion and remembered it
I finished Sonic, will try to sprint it through this one over the weekend
Unlike Doom, where I could play 3-4 hours a day, RE feels more like a 40 minutes at a time game to me
but I'll try blitzing
with save states, you can take a break whenever really, thats how the DS version was intended to be played!
I'm not using save states, but thankfully the training mode has plenty of ink ribbons
oh native hardware? yeah in which case starting and stopping is annoying
OG hardware club :3
nah, I'm emulating it on PC, just trying to play "the intended way" (I say that as I play with easy mode on)
hahaha
no shame in any of that, the DS version let you use sleep mode and the PSX version had an actual pause menu (the config screen pauses the timer)
That's good to know.
wait is resident evil the gotm this month? I don't understand any of this
There are 3 every month based on release year, Pre-96, 96-99, 2000+
The current GotX games are:
GotM:
- DOOM
- Fire Emblem : The Sacred Stones
- Resident Evil
RPGotQ: - Final Fantasy : The 4 Heroes of Light
Retro Bit: - Sonic The Hedgehog
wow, good month huh
well I'm probably not gonna complete any of those in the next 4 days...
You can do doom
oh true, I've already smashed that game a few times in my life
but I can do it again
could probs speedrun that game tbf
but meh I mean what's the point if I'm not gonna enjoy it
I wanna play something new
could I smash RE1... sorry I'll stop spamming
yeah i never engage in this and i did 2 games this time lol
i did it off the top of my head and it took 4 hours
I literally started gaming again recently and smashed through re3 and dino crisis, two survival horrors, so this would've been perfect
those are both waaaaaay harder than RE1 lol
if you played both before, totally
i finished both in 4 days
and i'd play more but i wanted to try other games
That's why I did the PSX version of doom. It's doom, but I've never played that one
I SHOULD PLAY DOOD
I forgot about DOOD
I...don't know what that means
This is a Doom mod mirrored down the middle... it's based on a meme and for some reason it makes my head spin, you really need to play it in order to understand.
How do I open the config menu on PS1?
I'm not asking because I want to open it, I'm asking because I KEEP FUCKING DOING IT
Free points and a vote for December's theme so we don't end up with mechs again
You get 1 point for beating a GotM
And for 70 points you get a sweet as bag
That's up to 5 points per month with 3 gotms and 4 gotws
It’s a bag. With your name on it.
Hmmmmm
and it's a messenger bag, so perfect for ditching wack "pocketable" handhelds for gigachad ergonomic handhelds 😎
okay finally made some real progress
turns out there was a whole ass staircase I saw earlier but completely forgor to go down on
killed ||the freako plant using the chemical||, grabbed the ||armour|| key, grabbed the ||wind crest|| and found another save room
I explored nearly all of first floor minus like 3 rooms
next objective is I guess explore all the rooms upstairs locked behind this key, find the ||two remaining crests and the red gem||
I like the puzzle design so far
the gallery puzzle was my favourite, but the ||tiger with one blue and one red eye|| one was pretty fun too
easy to figure out but still make you feel good
and starting a new playthrough as Jill on training mode instead of Chris on normal was a great decision holy shit
And because it's a messenger bag, people should be less likely to shoot you
LMAO good one mate lol
I'm proud of you twice over to compensate, then
Attaboy
start and select
in that order
select and start just lets you see the map in peace, also, switch weapons!
Interesting... I'm not pressing either of those and the menu still shows up a lot of the time. Mostly when I'm running (pressing square + up) and a scene transitions, this menu just pops up for no reason
that makes 0 sense, which menu do you mean?
The one for choosing the controller layout
yeah its impossible to open that without pressing select, what controller are you using?
Xbox Series S controller - and I'm dead certain I'm not pressing select
It's hilarious
wait are you playing the dualshock edition?
Beetle PSX HW
huh isnt that supposed to be hyper accurate?
thats odd, i was using PCSX rearmed and it didnt cause that
are the saves compatible with another emu?
try duckstation
I'll try that then
It feels extremely random
Felt as if the devs implemented it as a kind of measure against people just running everywhere lol
But I tried permaholding the square button
Or holding square + up when running into a wall
And couldn't get it to trigger on purpose
most of RE1 is holding square and up and this never happened to me
Yeah, sounds like a controller config issue? Are you playing on pc or a handheld? I have issues when I forget steam is rubbing on pc sometimes. Steam’s controller configs can mess stuff up.
I'm playing on PC with a Series X controller, not using steam, straight ES into the Beetle PSX HW RA core
It's weird as I am 99.999% sure it never popped up when I was pressing any buttons besides square (x) and up lol
use a controller tester just in case
Okay so I just ||fought a giant ass snake, got poisoned and had to be rescued by Barry|| and I collected all four of the ||crests to unlock the door to the garden||
approximately how far along am I?
I have exhausted the ||shield and armour|| keys already
oh and on another note
Can anyone recommend me any games similar to this one????
not necessarily horror (I'm a pussy)
but I love the tank controls and the puzzles
Dino Crisis
less horror in some ways, but || you'll find de-limbed bodies often ||
Dino Crisis 2 is a sort of arcade version of that, very fun
less focus on puzzles though, more about killing baddies
I just got ||rescued by barry for the first time|| in resident evil 1
and had the audacity to say || "wait, what are you even doing here, barry?" ||
grim fandango
put it on my list yesterday thanks to you, will definitely check it out ❤️
AHAHAHA that scene cracked me up
yeah I was like || "way to say thankyou, jill" ||
ohhh, this one been on the list for a while, but I always assumed it's point and click because LucasArts
same actually, but it uses tank controls!
okay, it gets bumped up to the top
and I'll definitely shill it for GotM whenever it fits a theme
yeessss give me a reason to play grim fandango please
now that I know it's not point and click, I am really excited - heard so many great things about the puzzles and story!
bout a third through
im currently playing parasite eve 2 and its more of a shooter RPG than an actual survival horror game, tank controls dont mean shot when you got infinite ammo crates
@solemn remnant If you want tank controls and puzzles, then the classic Tomb Raider games would be a good choice.
I'm playing RE on training mode, sounds right up my alley then 🤘🏻 hahaha
Perfect!
Maybe 1/3 of the way. There’s a 1/3 outside the mansion and then you’re back in the mansion for the final 1/3. The final 1/3 is the best. Good luck
Jinx
One day my friends, we will make this work. One day
it actually has segments of people following you around like in training mode lol
you mean Barry saving my arse multiple times is part of the training mode?
no lol
just the part where he follows you around
shooting people
Oh ok haven't seen this yet
Yes! This one was pretty fun. There a box of unlimited bullets that you can go to.
It’s a decent game, but a poor sequel. Not as bad as the third birthday though.
the real problem im having is that it feels like it works on way more moon logic than RE cause they tried to dump all the complexities of RE AND PE1 into one game but the end result is a janky shooter RPG with tank controls
and unlike dino crisis 2, it doesnt have a quick turn lmao
Yeah, I’m not a big fan of it, personally. It’s ok at best.
Haven't participated this month to get myself off my phone more and lose my streak so I feel less obligated to participate. I still played this one but haven't beat it yet. Man, it's so hard to enjoy. I do not enjoy combat at all. Killed the big snake. Seems there's still a lot of game left to go...
I’d say that’s pretty close to the middle
Okay, so I just mixed up a ||V-Jolt||, that was fun
Are there any downsides to ||killing the plant with v-jolt immediately? will I miss out on something?||
I also found the ||incendiary rounds for the bazooka, so I assume there is another way of fighting it||
I just killed ||Black Tiger||. I’m so close I can taste it
I was coming to it as a stand-alone game. I bet that’s why I had a good time with it. I’m glad I got to practice tanks controls before my resident evil experience lol
the combat really isnt the point of the game
||the vjolt saves you a ton of ammo, it reduces the health of the plant to less than half, also, the incendiary rounds do bonus damage to it||
Where the hell am I supposed to || Mix all these chemicals together? Are they in the room with the bottles? Do I use the right coloured herbs to make the right colours? || I have all this water and no where to throw it.
you cant ||do the puzzle without the vjolt report file that explains how it works||
the other chemicals are in the shelves
||v-jolt?|| is that what I'll be supposedly mixing?
Thought the ||writing on the wall|| would have been sufficient to do "something" like the ||gallery puzzle||.
I'll stop wasting my time lol. Thank you, beautiful
||i dont think these cops have enough chemist training to mix an experimental herbicide from some scribbles on the wall lmao||
also my name isnt beautiful, its axcelon
Can't it be both
careful there, im taken
Love you too boo
While cooking dinner lately, I just watched an exhaustive series retrospective on Parasite Eve 1 & 2. Seems like a lot of fun!
PE1 is in the top two games I discovered through GOTM
which one? PE1 is amazing but the more i play of PE2 the more eh im on it
like i'd straight up rather be playing RE3 or dino crisis 2 lol
Man, Dino Crisis 2 is so gooood, I hope we get to play it together some day.
Jurassic January
OH! dino crisis 1 and 2 can be nominated and win in the same month.
Dino Crisis was nominated for GotM in October 2020, but didn't win.
I could have sworn one of them was one of th early winners.
/previous dino crisis 2
Dino Crisis 2 won GotM in April 2021.
there we go.
FUCK!
yeah, I missed that one too. too bad.
Flashback is calling my name
Not flashback the game. Mind you. I'll never finish that
I take it back. That was the month I joined. But diddy kong racing was another game that month and I was already playing it when I joined, so I finished it instead of DC2.
underrated as hell
That’s when I came along!
They made PE2 much more like a RE clone because of the sales success of the latter, and the second disc seems to not be as strong as the first disc of PE2… but apparently the end picks up after a bit of a slog.
I found the end of Dino 2 really tedious back in the day
i dunno im still at dry field, it just tries SUPER hard to be RE while clinging unto what makes PE unique, which could be really cool if so much of that didnt clash.
would it be a capcom game if it didnt have a tedious endgame?
Just don’t try the third one 😅 it doesn’t exist! Maybe, some day in the future, they’ll revisit the IP and make another sequel after PE2!
Survival Horror genre is ripe right now.
Honestly after what happened with Fear Effect 3, maybe be glad they didn’t
jokes on you i already played 3rd birthday, its awful
I’m not familiar with Fear Effect. I’m just saying, with RE2 remake and that series being on a roll, Dead Space remake, and Silent Hill remake on the horizon, the once-dead genre is experiencing a renaissance.
It was one of my favourite ps1 games. They made a new one for the switch. Needless to say it didn’t meet expectations
That’s always a sad outcome…
Ok, so I've || returned to the mansion ||, killed ||The Yawn|| and found the || Battery for the elevator ||. What are the chances of me being able to finish this tonight? About 3 hours to play after trick or treating
If you use a guide I think you should be able to finish it no problem. Without a guide might be a little tough. But iirc you're getting ready to head into the final area
Nice! No guide so far, just doing stuff logically as it comes I'm just gonna guess but I'm thinking ||go down to the courtyard, put the battery in||, go back up || raise the water with the square crank || then go under || where the waterfall was ||?
God damn do I wish I wasn't a little scaredy child when this released. So engaging and it's nice to be finally able to visit the game that popularised one of my favourite genres
One more day for those late bloomers
Aaaaand Done! Rocket Launcher ending intact.
Holy shit what a great game
Congrats 🙂
Ayyyy, nice!
ikr? happy you enjoyed it!
Don't think we're going to finish this tonight but I've been playing this with the missus on the hardest difficulty because we're idiots and it's out first time playing RE games.
We just ran out of ink ribbons after the ||shark|| fight and finally found more after running around the mansion. Things were looking pretty bleak at that point.
(Will still finish during this week. The lady says there is no escape.)
yeah im gonna try to finish this week but its not happening tonight
Way too invested at this point lol.
Did you actually fight the shark or humiliate it?
wait is this the remake or the original? cause the entire shark section is super different
The games are kind very different but we don’t argue with the leaders
yeah its an odd choice to allow for the remake but not arrange mode
I played original, I had no idea they were so different
i swear i dont get why people assume the RE1 remake is similar just cause it didnt switch to be a third person shooter lmao
I just thought the major beats were pretty much the same lol
overall? yes, but everything about the tone, puzzles and mechanics are super different, and the entire sub story about ||lisa|| alters the flow of the plot to fit it.
Trying to beat the game 😆 was going through alot to restart and save rebecca, she kept dying when I entered the library. Took hours to fix haha but worth it
Just beat it!
Does the stove timestamp count lmao its 144 am est
Game was hard af, had to cheese with save slots otherwise I never would've beaten the game
Proper time stamp
You should post it in #1102540186790928415 though!
Oh I saw that you did 😆
Thanks for the response,it's my first time. It was late and I had a feeling this wasn't the place to post it haha. I eventually found it!
