Just gave this ago mate, I didn't encounter the overscan bug, but no games would load and I couldn't get retroarch to load, I did notice that when I put the SD card into the computer after updating etc it didn't have an easy ROMs partition so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it 🤔

Just reflashed it, going though the install on the device. Interesting, the default splash screen had a flicker. It's not present when the terminal spam is happening, so I guess its something related to refresh rate?

Ok, it finished installing and seems fine now. No idea what caused the flicker. But if it's gone, i'm happy to chalk it up to gremlins lol

Yeah me neither… it was just that way since I used the stock firmware provided by the community. Maybe it is cuz the hardware isn’t exactly the same for all the units depending on many things like black box white box back label sticker varieties or no back sticker variety like mine

I lost my original firmware so I don’t know if it was different from the two I downloaded but I’ve had a bunch of bugs since reflashing ArkOS in all the available varieties

The analog sticks work in the Emulation Station, and when I go into a game, they are reversed in the game, then when I go in PPSSPP it works properly to move in the menus, but then you go in to test the analogs and they are reversed in the calibration. I exit the calibration test and they’re normal again in PPSSPP and then exit the menu back to the game and it’s reversed LOL

And this is only in the stock firmware, not the RG351MP ArkOS

My guess is that this particular image you're using forces a preset input configuration (that's incorrect) and you'd need to manually adjust whatever config file it uses to slap on PPSSPP at launch so it's loading the correct config, not the incorrect one :p

I had an issue with something or another where it'd take my changes and then just dump them every time I rebooted.

found out the color of your console is what detirmines what Version yours is

i ordered a bunch and had a constant pattern, the white and orange consols came in a box that was only 2 layers and had the picture of the r35s on front along with a knock off microsft logo, blue and black come with a box that has a removeable sleeve, then a plain white box, not sure which group r v2 and which group is v3 but theres a diffenrece, some dont have a sticker on the back and some do

Some other things ive found out about the R35s is that the latest consols use the 351V screen timings, so 351MP CFW will work if u can code the DTB to use 351V screen timings

but like i posted before the file christian made works perfect with any verison of ARKos as long as u replace the DTB file with his

some will have verticle screen glitch and some will have a white screen when you try to flash, 1 the verticle fix can be fixed in devloper settings, i think someone else has stated this, the white screen means you did not flash ocrreclty by replacing the DTB with the file christian has made

ive been using my main console with latest Arkos + the dtb fix file and it has run perfeclty, i also gave afriend a console i flashed with latest Arkos + the file fix and hje said it was perfectly fine and he uses it alot

Amberelec works great the only issue rn is the low sound which there is no fix yet with the file christian made as he said its only 100% with ArkOS

Thats a windows thing. Happens fairly often. Follow this guide except replace Easyroms with Boot 🙂 If you don't see a drive letter named EASYROMS when you plug the SD card into a card reader, it's most likely that Windows did not automatically assign a drive letter to that partition on your SD card. This can be resolved by going to disk management (type disk management in the search bar in Windows 10 and select the first control panel app that comes up at the top as the best match), then going to the SD card with the EASYROMS partition label, then assign a drive letter to the EASYROMS partition by right clicking on the EASYROMS partition and selecting Assign Drive Letter or Change Driver letter and Path, then follow the directions from there. Once completed, the drive should show up under My Computer. You typically only need to ever do this once on the Windows machine.

Apparently ArkOS is okay with all type of SDcard for SD1; while for SD2, it is quite picky...and SDHC provide better compatibility based on this thread of RGB20s

ArkOS recognized them on the system but when I launched it the screen went dark and just hung there. It never started the game.

The stock OS update (via wifi) also rotates the screen 90 degrees while the controls are still the same. Enabling developer mode fixes the rotation issue but it breaks a few other things and makes it unenjoyable to play.

I’ve heard the AmberElec has a no audio bug and haven’t heard of a fix for that. If you try it, let us know how it goes!

Yes I tried the ota update for both the stock firmware and the cfw (RG351MP) and both seem to be working fine. Stock FW is better now with the update cuz you can easily fix the reverse analog stick issue in the new updated PPSSPP as well!

Sandisk is somehow not recognizable for SD slot 2 in this device, I purchased SDXC Samsung Evo due to this. Suggestion, boot from original / working SD card in SD2; switch to only boot with SD1; reflash your ArkOS image to 512GB SDXC of yours, then you will use single SD system that is 512GB in size

you could add SD2 from shitty SD stock, or purchase Samsung Evo / compatible brands that people mentioned in this channel

Else, single SD system with 512GB is more than enough

When it is done, use software that could do partition (in Windows there MiniTool Partition wizard), or in Linux Gparted and extend your EASYROMS partition to get the maximum size (delete EASYROMS, then create new main partition with same name, EASYROMS)

Dont forget to switch from SD2 to SD1 first in the option -> advanced, before that procedure

So update on my R35S Journey, my sandisk extreme 512 wouldnt work in T2, so I formatted it and put OS on that drive, deleted the EASYROMS partition and remade it to take up the rest of the space, then put the og files back on, put it in T2, and it boots and plays games perfectly! Only small issue that I will work out is the image files for the games are not showing, best case is my file pathing is wrong, worst case I delete and rescrape the games. Hoping the arkOS wiki has my answer.

Sorry I put it in T1 where the OS drive is. Not T2. For some reason T2 refuses to read the drive.

So, I updated the Stock OS to the ArkOS 2.0 (09242023), and reset all the emulators back to "AUTO/AUTO" in Emulator Settings, restarted ArkOS and everything seems to work fine! All the bugs I found are gone and it runs comparable to the RG351MP ArkOS now.

it's a really good open world rally racing game. on the r35s, it's got a tricky way of working. vsync: off, frameskip 2, type:percent, autoframeskip: on, force max fps: 10(so it only affects the game internally). not perfect, but i've played it enough to have a grasp of the driving.

it's better to just play it on something stronger overall because the game is weirdly demanding, reflex-wise.

If the 351mp image works fine, it should continue to be fine as it will be identified as a rg351mp unit and updates will apply to it accordingly. Just the stock os i have no idea what was done to it. At least not yet.

The only thing you lose in the update is the ppsspp frame limiter hack. To those of us playing the harder stuff like flatout or phantasy star portable, that's the holy grail of performance.

The RG351MP ArkOS works via OTA updates, no problem, but the stock OS is the one that has the wifi update screen rotation bug for some people.

tried that with WRC and it ran worse than just locking the internal fps to 10 while the gpu interpolated up to 30. its a good feature
