I generally remember having a choice in a game store between PE2 and fear effect 2. Having never played the first one of either series, I went with fe2 as it was a prequel. The rest is history, as they say

I thought I was getting used to the shooting but then got to this boss and have no idea what I'm doing

I probably need to learn how magic skills work

I still feel like my weapons do very little damage and I don't have enough BP to buy more

you didn't ask for advice, but if you want it, here's what i did

||there a shotgun ammo which is specifically for one target, i forget what it's called, but hopefully you picked up 10 "bullets" of it. If you cast energy shot on yourself then hit his with those 10 bullets, it should be easy enough||

Becasue of lack of foresight in save states, I had to do the next boss with just the basic gun/ammo combo. that was annouing. I should have listened to Mr. Sujano

Plus the first fight of disc 2 the enemies actually have a 1 hit kill mechanic against the player if you didn’t encounter it.

||If you are standing at the edge of the cliff and they hit you they’ll knock you off and 1 hit kill you||.

Oh I knew that, just I never put points in mind fire and so it wasn't an easy thing to trigger

For this, there's actually a trick making them quite easy to kill: ||You have to let them grab you, then mash your buttons and directional pad (maybe somewhere it says which buttons exactly) and they get stunned. Then you can hit them at will. Also, when they stay still, if you look carefully, when it's just an illusion they are a bit transparent, which means do not engage.||

Also, ||when the ones that throw little missiles are in group, they can hit each other if they stay in the middle of the shot trajectory||

These tips are very important in the latter play modes where there's no ammo...

How the hell do I kill these “energy slugs” do I have to mind fire them or do I have to let the security guns kill them?

why are bats a problem?

you can shoot at them even without the crosshair changing targets

llama dogs (love the name) are a big issue in small places, when there's room you can have them hit a wall and get stunned; or at the beginning of disc 2, make then fall down and get that fight without firing a single bullet (but careful because if they hit you there you will fall down the cliff and that's a game over)

One thing I will say, is that this game has permanently changed my preference from RA’s swanstation to Duckstation standalone for anything RP3 or more powerful. The difference in upscaling is just night and day

According to the wiki, the difficulty of the final boss scales kinda based on ||The fight right before. "Eve's health is based on the status of Brahman after the core was destroyed. If it suffered a 100% kill (All parts were destroyed before the core), Eve will have 6,000 HP. If not, the HP starts at 6,000 + 80% of the remaining HP left from Brahman's surviving parts.||

I didn't know! I remember as a kid bruteforcing the first stage by taking the blast and then just hitting it with fire magic and grenades and only now in emulation learned that it can be dodged 🤣 Second stage, I remember it long but easy with a bit of patience.

What ammo do you recommend for the final boss?

I keep going back to the ||military base|| to try different builds

I have enough no for the super shotgun and best armour, but then not much else, so no extra bullets for the new handgun and no new 9mm sub machine gun

And I don’t have enough exp to get inferno beyond level one (but I do have my Heath & protect “spells” maxed )

I am afraid there is... If you are able to enter this part of the armory, you get a very nice shotgun and infinite ammo (ammo box) for buckshot shells.

I did just with grenades and rifle ammo. Slug shells are also very good. Regarding magic, I am a simple guy, maxed pyro, heal, shot, protection AND energy ball (I think I have maxed out others as well but those are the ones that help more)

Necrosis is helpful for some cheevos and also for the slugs

Inferno can help with one specific attack of the last boss if you are able to level it up

I have the status cure, heal, the shield one and energy shot at max, combustion and pyro at max and inferno at level 1. No other “3rd tier” abilities

you can attach grenade launcher to your rifle

I think reload time is a bit longer though, but you can also shoot bullets

But I think in the point where you are @cinder beacon ||you will soon have access to all of them, even if you need a bit of back and forth, so you can organize. I advice, if you are full, leave the best healing items (Ringer, Rec3) in the car and you can pick them up before going to the final boss||

ah I see, I agree. Just one type of gun and the rest in any store box. It'd be strange that you would switch back to an old one, unless you try a new one but don't like it after a fight or two.

Also, I normally store special ammo and keep only standard. Maybe firefly could be an exception as it replaces fire magic somehow

and I'd say (if something happens later it's at your own risk LOL) you don't need the tonfa in your first run, multiple ammo boxes and enough money to buy more all the time

when you unlock scavenger or nightmare modes you will definitely need it

it depends on how you play then, I try to save magic for emergencies or for enemies it's very very effective

once thing I discovered, probably you already know, is that when you level up a power, it restores your MP, so I always try to have enough XP to level up something in case I am running low

Same ending here. I used the magnum, stocked up on normal bullets for first stage boss then used the special bullets on the second stage.

Other than the fact the games leaves ||a fire breathing monster as tall as a 2 story building|| just roaming the countryside, I think my least favourite bit of the plot was the ||cloaning||
